life is funny….

August 13, 2009 By Kelle

googly eyes.

in attempts to build our art box and expand her ever-growing love of crafty things, i bought her a pack of them and showed her how adding them to coloring books greatly enhances her pictures.

…except the next day, i found the googlies here…

and here…

and, here.

caught in the act, she was…

and now they just keep showing up. staring at me. from my toothbrush. and dresser drawers. and lampshades. like those stupid geiko eyes. there are eyes all over our house now, and none of them are in coloring books.

and speaking of things not exactly going as intended…life is a little funny right now, and i am learning to embrace it and accept it…perhaps even learn from it.

while i thought i would be packed at this point ready to head to our much-anticipated family vacation to chicago, i am instead finishing laundry for brett and the boys to go as i am on ‘modified’ bedrest for about a month…instructed to lie low and take it easy due to a blood clot in my uterus which is expected to…hopefully…absorb. baby is perfect and healthy, and while i daily struggle with anxiety and this hormonal bundle of emotions and love and this crazy wonderful thing called motherhood, i am doing well and trusting that my body…like all the other amazing bodies that have been protecting and birthing little beans for years…will do its best to harbor, protect and nourish our little lamb. and i nap and do puzzles and snuggle with my girl who is the easiest thing to take care of while ‘taking it easy’…and watch movies and do laundry and take in the good and the bad of a very different pregnancy. reality is, this is not easy at all. but reality usually isn’t and dragging through these parts is what is so character-building about life.

and with all that said…lainey had some news on this here paper, but i couldn’t for the life of me get her to hold it up for a picture…

oh, but wait…she did cooperate a little later.
in the midst of a stressful week, we found a little love in the middle when we discovered a little more about our bean…

yes, lainey will have a little sister, and we are thrilled. two boys, two girls…brett thinks he’s in heaven.

dreaming of holding my two girls…even if i’m not going to chicago.

…love, love and more love. ~k

In the wise words of Prophet Poppa…”I always knew–she felt like a girl in my heart.” Perfectly presented…two protecting big brothers prepared the way for The Girls. I can’t wait. I love her already. Googly eyes and all.

chicago can wait. it’ll still be around when you can get a chance to hop aboard the plane with both girls…
being a mama of girls is the greatest … pretty sure boys are great too … but (speaking from experience) having two little girls absolutely melts your heart. daily.
be prepared for lil’ miss lainey to save her last two googly eyes for her little sister!
congrats mama … rest up … sending a virtual casserole (’cause that’s what us mn people do.)

“this is the money you could be saving at Gieko….” ha!

Hello, another girl!!! I am praying for peace in your heart so your anxiety will lessen. I don’t think anyone would feel different then you do right now but you need some serenity to leap in that soul so you can breathe easier.

Sorry our girls night out went to girls night in and then “girls too tired to leave their OWN house” to visit you on house arrest…

Thinking of you. Call out my name, and I’ll be there, yes I will, cause you got a friend! xo

I knew this was the gender post when I saw all the comments! This is SO exciting! LL is quite the writer to teach her SISTER!! OMG, she’s going to be a “sister”…that is one powerful word!

PS Reading this while watching Stella’s 1st ladybug party on Tori & Dean
PPS Lil has a mini obsession with Elmo (ie first pic)
PPS Everything is going to be perfect with this baby – SHE just wants an extra pillow and blanket to snuggle with

    It’s Rayna, on Matt’s account.

Again, you’ve given me chills and tears welled up when I saw it was a girl. Rest your body…listen to it, and let God do the rest. A sister bond is like no other and Lainey will soon realize that, and to be a mom that watches what we grew up with from the outside is priceless. Keeping you in our prayers. xoxo

Sisters are the best! how fun. I can see those magnificent photos right now of sisters dressed alike romping in the garden, having picnics and picking daisies! oh the cuteness! And you will be able to dig out those faboulous outgrown newborn girly clothes for your new bub to wear and it will bring back all those memories of Lainey when she was that age, and take comparison pics of them in the same outfits.
Love the google eyes, will have to get some and enjoy seeing them randomly around the condo

    Happiness and health – Justine

A sister! What great news. Lainey will be a great big sister I think. Judging by how she carts the dogs around, I can only imagine what you have to look forward to 🙂 The little momma.

The googly eyes, very cute. I always think before I buy little things like that – do I really want to be picking these up all over the house? ’cause I know that is what will happen!

i’m back from a family vacay up north, and just got done ‘catching up’ on your blog.

and what can i say? when the heck did lainey get so darn big? those pictures of her in her big-girl jeans (i think it’s the day you took heidi back to the airport), love those pictures!

so glad things are looking up for you and your pregnancy.

Yay, a girl! Girls rock (I’m sure boys do too, but I have yet to parent one!). And Lainey Love is going to be the most loving, coolest big sister ever! Now, (adopting English schoolmarm tones), don’t modify the modified bed rest and make sure you take it easy! Sorry you can’t make it to Chicago, I know you must be feeling a bit down about not being able to go. But isn’t Chicago “the windy city”? It would have played havoc with your hair. Have a fun, restful weekend. p.s. The eyes made me laugh. A lot.

Ah and the unexpected troubles…you have a great attitude and it is inspiring. Our four healthy girls will have the most fun when they meet.
