I didn’t notice what was happening here until I pulled these next pics up on my computer and–Nella’s carefully studying and copying Lainey’s every move.

Love how Nella walks with purpose. She’s a go getter girl. I don’t think an extra chromosome is going to hold her back much. Lainey is shining as big sis:) I see this so much with my girls lately.

While I do enjoy your blog and your pictures, I was struck by your comment “I didn’t notice what was happening here until I pulled these next pics up on my computer and–Nella’s carefully studying and copying Lainey’s every move.”

That made me sad, because I feel like you’re capturing moments, but not actually living those moments with your children.

Also, I wonder why you said that you’ve joined the minivan club? “Turning a new Clean Car leaf with my minivan (yes, I’ve joined the minivan club).”

You did a blog post in January of 2011 about your minivan being in a state of disarray?

It saddens me that you would miss what was happening because you were behind the lense of your camera. How many other precious moments are you missing because of being focused on getting the perfect shot?

Gosh, do these Mom’s never take pics of their kids? …my daughter is getting ready to go off to college and one of her favorite things is to go through all her many, many albums and look at all the pics! People are not perfect folks and I don’t get the strangers offering the “criticism”…we should be going to our FRIENDS (not internet “pseudo” friends with love and gentleness when we may find it necessary to point out a “wrong”!
Just enjoy the words and pics here and unless there is some great offense…GIVE IT A REST :-)….all said gently

Isn’t it awesome that our photos give us a second pair of eyes!!! It is so neat that you were celebrating Lainey’s big jump, & that later you got to relish in Nella’s inspired behavior through your photos. Unless of course, your eyes can cross somehow and you are able to catch both of them simultaneously at the right moment of excitement…but my eyes are not able to do that 🙂
I try, but hindsight is always 20/20…weather it be advice, second-hand photos, you name it. Did I mention my eyes are not 20/20?
    Tejas love,

    @IreneSmith

I can’t imagine the trouble it took to search and find an old post with the word “minivan…”

While we’ve never been minivan owners until now, we finished a couple months of a friend’s lease once and drove it temporarily. I guess that must have been in 2011.

Can’t believe it took us this long to commit. Sliding doors are the best thing since sliced bread.

So fun! Loved seeing Nella mimicking Lainey! My 8 month old son is already trying to copy my 9 year old and it is such a joy to watch.

And I won’t name names….but, really…a post from 2011?? Either that’s a damn good memory or someone needs a hobby and some happiness!! Either way, Kelle, your response made me laugh. Virtual high five!

Kelle, I think you are being a bit harsh with IreneSmith. To be honest I was wondering the same thing when I read about you being new to minivans because I specifically remembered you talking about your minivan years ago. She wasn’t being rude or anything, she was just asking. Your angry response is a head scratcher.

Seeing the precious photos of your sweet Nella and Lainey with the eggs makes me teary eyed with regret–I didn’t allow my children to do such things when they were little.
And now that my oldest is heading off to college in the fall, I wish like mad that I took the time to ‘let them do it’.
I was so focused on being a good mama by not having my kids do work I felt like I ought to be doing (and in all honesty, didn’t want to clean up yet another ‘mess’) that I missed out on some of the sweetest parts of being a ‘good mama’!

@HeidiLastName, I don’t think that response was “harsh”. I was a bit surprised that the specific post was searched and included as well, instead of “Didn’t you mention a while ago having a minivan that was in a disarray?” I think it’s reasonable to assume that it took some effort to locate something that was written 3 years ago not a few months ago or within the last year. I have been following this blog since the birth story and I didn’ even remember that. I guess your idea of harsh and angry differ from mine. Anyway, I hope you don’t think this is rude and I hope you enjoy this beautiful day!

Your children will look back later in life and cherish all the wonderful bonding moments you created. My mother never even let me in the kitchen as she didn’t want us kids getting in her hair. I think you and Brett are just so loving and create wonderful times for your family.

I actually drove that minivan for two months, and I didn’t remember! I don’t think noting that pulling up a buried detail from a 2011 post takes effort is harsh or an “angry response”–just a fact.
