Sometimes it is easy to ladle up happenings in our home with strokes of the keyboard and pour them into a nice serving of blog post, one that summarizes fairly well the present state of our lives. Other times, I sit and contemplate just what it is I want to skim off and present–what, out of the all the little moments and feelings and revelations I’ve had in a few days, do I want to piece together with words and publish?
One of my most confidently answered questions is “Do you take pictures all the time?”
Smile.
Why yes, of course I do…in my mind. I am subliminally aware during a quiet moment of cradling Nella’s flour-sack little body to sleep or initiating a raucous round of tummy tickling with Lainey that somewhere in the universe, there is a transcendental viewfinder and a click of a shutter, framing that precious fleeting moment. But these moments are many and, in comparison, photos are few. So, certainly–realistically–no. Any mother who recognizes the rich and multiple occasions in a single day that are photo-worthy will understand that a blog, a memory card, or a keyboard with only twenty-six letters and a sticky “p” key are hardly capable of capturing them.
That’s the beauty of blogging. Overall, anyone’s life is large and intricate, layered with multiple feelings, experiences and moments, most of which are not captured with film or words but preserved in the infinite files of memory. And I like that–the challenge of selecting the most poignant reflections for me to look back on years later and yet the knowledge that there are the unshared moments as well. Just as precious. But just for us.
You’re wondering what I’m getting to. No, this isn’t some passive aggressive declaration. Like when someone updates “I hate men” as their Facebook status and everyone’s wondering what the hell happened and who did her wrong. No wrong done. Just thoughts on something that makes me happy.
******
School is out and there are more occasions now for gathering friends. And that makes me happy too.
So does quietly assuming my bystander postion on the lanai and making the decision to take an otherwise undocumented moment of my family and turn it into something we’ll remember for good.
*******
Sister has a big head about her growing independence and her new moves.
She’s a show-off, and she thrusts that little pushcart like it’s her job, steadying her quick stride with just enough resistance so it doesn’t get away from her…because she’s smart like that.
And God forbid a neighbor walks by or she’s going to have to stop and wave.
******
We picked the hottest hour of the day today to hit the park and, because I oddly plan these trips, I chose the non-water park, forgot to pack drinks and wore some black layered impractical button-up/tank combo that might as well have been sheepskin.
I swear the woodchips were smoking. And I was sweating so profusely, one leg wouldn’t stay crossed over the other; it just kept slipping. But kids don’t care. In freezing temps, they pee in their snowsuits and ignore their frostbite just so they can sled down one more hill and in blistering heat, they pay no heed to their moms who are wheezing and hallucinating, begging them to wrap it up. They keep climbing, scouting out the next source of fun, oblivious to any discomfort.
I love learning things from my kids.
As my dad always told me, don’t be a thermometer, be a thermostat. Thermometers only measure the temperature around them. Thermostats change it.
I so enjoyed reading your summer lists and “stole” a lot of suggestions from your list for our growing summer adventures. The winner of the $25 Just Ducky gift certificate goes to Comment #247, Southern Gal:

And I have another fun new sponsor to introduce which is appropriately timed a week after Brett picked up another old cast-off purse of mine, littered with gum wrappers, old receipts, a lone dollar bill and a favorite lipstick I had long forgotten. “Can’t you just pick one bag and stick with it?” he asked.
Hello, Stick-with-it Bag:
My new Elisalou Designs bag, and I love it. My boho bag is sturdy, cute and has two fantastic pockets in the inside so digging for a pen doesn’t leave me fishing around all willy nilly, pulling up a tampon instead (yes, of course this has happened.) Elisalou offers a great selection of unique and catchy fabrics as well as several shapes and designs (wallets, wristlets, Kindle and Ipad bags…). Check them out, and use code SUMMER for 10% off your order!
Oh, and one of you will be winning this boho bag right here (and tucked in its pocket, a picture Lainey drew for you).
A randomly selected comment from this post will be chosen and announced Friday.
One more thing. Are you plugging away on a June challenge? I’d love to have you share a photo that represents your challenge, and several will be shared on the blog. Please upload your photo with a short description (make sure we know what your challenge is) on the June Challenge Flickr group. And if you don’t have a photo to share, feel free to come check out some others.
Looking forward to seeing what you share!
Happy Day.
Ah yes, the saddle shoes. What, those old things? Pshaw. I wasn’t going to bring them up, but since you did, fine. Alright I admit, I forced two pictures hoping you’d notice. I’m in love.

My June project was to finally get my space sorted out, books on the shelves, craft stuff sorted and put away. Then Monday came along. I was plugging along getting done and we were hit with another 2 big aftershocks (5.7 & 6.3) and that’s put it back to square one. Things that stayed put during all the other 7,000 moved during this one. So I’m starting it again, it just may not be finished till July!
But I’m going to do it and I will show photos!
Thank you for this blog. I’ll read and reread posts during moments I want to pull my hair out because of lack of sleep from aftershocks.

“s’up neighbor!” haha! that is fantastic! I love watching Nella do all of these fabulous things that I am just waiting for my little Ola to do! I can’t wait!
Thank you for continuing to inspire!
And first comment! yay!!!
I loved your dad’s thermometer vs. thermostat quote! And I totally agree that no amount of photos of our littles will ever capture the amazing experiences of a mamma’s day and all that they teach us.
Both of your girls are gorgeous (Lainey’s eyes!) but my heart melts when I see pictures of Nella grinning. Her whole face lights up. So beautiful.
Oh and quick question for you Kelle- do you get blog books printed out?
My June challenge is to spend less time working during the day and more time playing “roar” on the floor with my son or singing nonsense songs to my daughter. So far, so good.
your pictures, your words are always inspiring, thank you for sharing them!
The “sup, neighbor” comment actually made me laugh out loud. Oh my goodness, she is just too adorable!!!!!
And that bag is scrumptious!
Love the shoes, love the blog, love the pictures! Girlfriend you da bomb;)
The engraved in your memory pics are great but I think the actual pics are even better. I don’t have very many pics of me with my kids and I wish I had more from their early years when I was still young, skinny and wrinkle free! Ha! My favorite mental picture was when I was a new mama with boys 15 months apart. They were both crying and I sat on the floor rocking my newborn and his one year old big brother together in my arms. It’s at that moment I realized there was nothing else I’d rather be doing with my life. I was exactly where I wanted to be!
Xo.
Oh I love love love those shoes! Another fabulous post that makes me smile. ๐
long time reader of your blog, first time commenter. LOVE it. Your girls are to die for. So precious, so beautiful, just love your whole family. love the way you write. Amazing life you have yourself ๐
Nella’s ‘sup neighbor’ made me giggle…too cute. Is that Elisalou bag the same one in the background of the pic of Lainey?Love it!
I love your blog, peering through the window into your world. You inspire me to make those small moments count and capture bits and pieces to remember later. Thank you ๐ I don’t have an *official* June challenge, other than wanting to sort out all those little piles that mount around the house before we travel home to NZ for 7 weeks. It’s a good motivation to get on top of things ๐
YOU GOT THE SHOES!
Nella’s smile is super contagious. I can’t help but grin from ear to ear when I see her precious smiles! Love, love, LOVE it!
Stink’in awesome shoes!! ๐ I have to agree with Elizabeth’s comment, Nella’s smile is truly contagious. So precious!
I love those saddle shoes!
Love that bag. I’m going to have to check out her shop.
Of course there are many moments we won’t catch on camera or write in our diaries or capture on a blog. but as a mom of a now six year old I realize how fast the memories from those undocumented moments fade, and only a few stand out. So the “editing” we do by choosing when to take a picture or what to write down will shape what we remember. . . . . Don’t know what I mean to say with all this. I guess it is just important to find that balance of just living the moment or stopping to document it. Trying to get better at that.
Love the saddle shoes!
I love the bag. Could really use a hip little diaper bag : )
Amazing bag!!! I love your blog so much!! I worked with kids with autism and who were just like Nella and they were the most amazing people I have ever met. I love the way that you view her life and the way that you have decided to handle it. You are amazing and you have such a beautiful family. Lainey might be the cutest little thing with pigtails I have ever seen!!
Nella is FABULOUS.
LOVE reading about your life. I like the whimsical moments, the laughter, the play, the tears. It is delightful. THANKS for letting us watch.
I have been reading your blog for a few months now, ever since a friend had me read a most wonderful post of yours. It has been such a treat to get to know you and your family and I am inspired by each post. Thank you.
I too wonder the same – which moments do I immortalise for us all to see, which are simply just for me? Yesterday I thought I was gonna leave my camera at home, we left the house I locked the door got the kids on the bike, but went back for it, just couldn’t go without it. When I took it out of my bag to snap my first picture I found I’d forgotten to put the memory card back in! So fate intended that whole day to be just mine to treasure and I smiled a little smug smile as I realised this.
Love that Nella is walking, clever lady … first steps are so exciting!
X
Nella does rock the pushcart and so she should! You inspire with the way you choose to make the 24 hours you have in a day an adventure, a saddle shoe rocking time. I love that.
<3
too tired to think of anything sensible to say, but wanted to comment anyway. why? because I love seeing Nella walking with that walker. My little will get there someday, yep, that gives me hope.
what a beautiful post. Love that second picture of Lainey, so striking. I think a picture from her would be a better giveaway than the bag.
I love the saddle shoes! So perfect!
ShoesshoesshoesSHOESshoesshoes!
I mean, congrats on those shoes, girl!
ShoesshoesshoesSHOESshoesshoes!
I mean, congrats on those shoes, girl!

Your two girls are beautiful. Your blog is positive and full of love. Love your pool pictures and Florida photos.. Up in southern Illinois and I love to look at your photos. Must be amazing to live in such a beautiful place.
Love the saddle shoes!
I am loving Nella’s style!
Nella gives me great hope for Ellie. And I really want to win so I can get the Laiiney drawing!
No time to read it through… annoying when it happens.
Gotta wait ’til tonight!
LOVE the pic of the bubbles over the pool ๐
Makes my very cheerful, like wantaing-to-dance-out-in-the-library-cheerful ๐
Love the bag and may just have to get myself a Kindle Pouch Wristlet ๐
look at nella almost walking!!! that is awesome! june project is that thing called labor that is supposed to occur in 2 days ๐ cute bags!
Your blog is the only one of many that makes me kinda wish it was warmer here. I LOVE the cold, and we’ve finally had some rain but you make summer looks so cool (and maybe thats the only reason I’d like it!)
Stealing that thermostat line…amazing! WHERE are the saddle shoes from…PLEASE tell us!!!
You know how great it feels when you have a new magazine and some quite time to read it? Well, that’s how I feel when I log on and see a new post from you! LOVE this blog!
Love the bag, loves the shoes, love everything! I will admit to buying some pink saddle shoes for my girl to grow into.
Maura
Okay, Heather, you made me cry with “…right where I was supposed to be…” Yes, parenting is the ultimate. I have had a few friends who “retired” to give themselves to their children and I have always congratulated them on “their promotion.” Our children, like still wet mortar, bring themselves to us to be formed. They come to have us make happy their hearts. They give us their bikes to fix, their shoes to tie, their wounds to heal. And there is no place better, in all the universe, to be. It is bliss!
–Poppa
I love that photo of Nella riding the dog!
I think it’s obvious you don’t spend all your time taking photos – your kids wouldn’t look so happy if you did!
Your girl are so cute!! It always looks like ya’ll have the most fun! Love reading your blog!
Your new stick-with-it bag: SWOON! <3
I do so wish that there was a way to take downloadable, printable mental pictures of those lovely spontaneous moments that happen when we don’t have a camera in hand… but it is nice to have those “just for me” memories, too! This month was supposed to be “Jazzercise June” but my husband asked me to delay it so he could work late a few nights a week this month… so I am looking forward to “Jazzercise July!!”
I’m not sure which make me swoon more- the saddle shoes or the white bloomers! Love!!!
That bag would be a perfect transition between diaper bag and purse for me!
I love your pictures!! Your posts are so inspiring ๐
You read my mind! I love, love, LOVE your shoes! Almost as much as your blog. Keep on keeping on… and thanks for the smiles this morning! ๐
I adore the saddle shoes!!
Love this post and those shoes! My new June challenge? To be a thermostat. Thanks for sharing so many beautiful moments of your life. It is always inspiring.
-Miss Good on Paper
i did june challenge myself … but in the midst of allTHISlife? i’ve totally and completely forgotten my challenge.
so i’m gonna all quick like come up with my challenge and pretend like you never even knew that i didn’t remember.
oops. my challenge may have been to work out … but i might just be SOL on that one. life has been busy. and i’ve been so busy trying to be a yes-mom. i hate saying no too often when i actually can say yes sometimes. so that’s my challenge. to say yes more often and take randomly crazy trips to the park or stop and look at ducks in a ditch. or grab ice cream for dinner.
and i’ll also kick my butt into gear for next week (after this silly garage sale) on the work out thing … ok? stop harrassing me please.
Love the picture of sweetness waiving to the neighbor! I imagine her saying, “Heeeeeeyy!” hehe
I love the photo of Nella waving… your neighbours must be so lucky to get such a beautiful smile!
Oh my goodness…the saddle shoes are amazing!! LOVE them!
Nella is adorable in her new found freedom, and Lainey shows her sweetness through those beautiful eyes. I can see her soul and it is a treasure.
love the blog! Nella & Lainey are truly beautiful—and the bag is pretty cute too ๐
Oh my stars! I love this bag! I would be the chicest girl on my road! (Okay I might be one of the youngest girls on my road & that’s not saying much!) Thanks for the amazing giveaways. I am hoping one day I might win!
My June challenge was actually a picture-a-day challenge which I undertook with a few of the readers of my blog. You can see the details at http://awonderingspirit.blogspot.com/2011/05/update-on-june-photography-challenge.html or come join our Flickr group at http://www.flickr.com/groups/awsjunephotochallenge. It’s not too late to get started!
we’re all in love….now dish on the details woman!
great post {as usual}…I’m not so sure what the kids are going think when they look back and read my blog…it’s more of an escape for me…
June challenges going great…except for the migraine that took me out by 9pm last night. Oh well, there’s always another day to tackle my goals.
You got the shoes!!!! Glad to see that you quelled a craving. ๐
Jennifer from Annapolis
Keep up the the good work, Nella! Way to go sweetie!! I love seeing those walking legs! ๐
Have a great day, Kelle, and thanks for always making my morning coffee a little sweeter.
My husband makes fun of me — my handbags are my currency. Once I get sick of one and am absolutely sure I won’t use it any longer, I sell it on ebay to buy another one I want! There are a few though, that I have held onto through the years.
Current fave is a Gustto handbag I snagged from our local thrift store, tags still attached. The best $35 I’ve ever spent!
I’m pretty sure it’s impossible to “just pick one bag and stick with it”, though if by sticking with it we shall mean not getting rid of it, well then yes… I do stick with all my bags. ๐
I do love those saddle shoes!

After tucking my children away with their babysitter for the day, there is no better way to start my work day then a hot cup of coffee and your blog. Thank you for constantly showing me how blessed and lucky we are indeed!
So proud of little Nella! She’ll be walking in no time ๐
Isn’t it funny how you always end up at the park at the most hot time of day. Oh well, still fun ๐
Girl, I know that hallucinating in the hot sun at a playground feeling all too well. I’m likely to even see a mirage or two! ๐ love that happy smile Of nella’s and lainey’s personality just shines! You are one blessed momma!!
leaving my first comment! i randomly came across your blog a few weeks ago and have just fallen in love! your family is just gorgeous.
‘sup neighbor! love that. nella makes me smile ๐
June project has been riding my bike the 5 mornings out of the week that I am not working. And go me! I’m doin’ it! And so is Miss Nella with her walking! Right on sister!
Love the shoes and the new bag! And of course, the girls are adorable like usual!
Nella is awesome! Timmy was the same way with walking…once he was just up and figured out what to do there was no stopping him!
Nella is so cute with that wave! Thanks for inspiring and sharing with us.
Oh My God, am I a purse FREAK, and that bag is awesome with a big ole’ A!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Love the saddle shoes! Jealous of your style. Take me shopping? Haha.
My June challenge is getting to the gym at least 3 times a week getting ready for my first wedding anniversary in KEY WEST!!
Oh I’ve been at that park in the middle of the day, it IS so HOT!! Not that it matters, my 3 year old somehow has the energy to run around that place no matter the temperature! Looks like the girls are having a blast in the pool! Summer days are the best!! ๐
ps-Love the photo of Linds and Kins!!
Yes, those shoes are adorable. As are your daughters, but of course, you knew both of those things. Lovely post, as usual. I’m looking forward to summer happenings too, experienced in between dissertation writings this summer though. Jeremy, my husband, and I are going to the Isle of Skye off the west coast of Scotland on Monday–we’re pretty psyched about it.
Oh, and gorgeous bags for sure. ๐
Caitlin
from black currant thoughts.
love the bag, is it amy butler fabric?!
I’m a photographer, and people ask me if I take pictures of my daughter all day, and I have to tell them that I use to, but not so much anymore. When she was a baby I took a hundred pictures a day of her at least! Now, she’s about to turn 5, and I may get 10-20 photos of her a month, usually with my cell phone camera, so they aren’t even very clear. I’ve just gotten to the point where I’d rather be involved in whatever she’s doing than behind the camera trying to get the perfect picture. So, I hold these memories near and dear, and they are mine and no one elses ๐
I always manage to get to the park at exactly the worst time of the day. It may be weather related, wardrobe related or poopy diaper related, which ever, something is bound to happen…so I feel ya. Love the blog!
All of your pictures are amazing, but a couple of those smiley Nella shots are breathtakingly adorable! Her smile is absolutely infectious!
Love that bag!
I love a new bag. Clothes can betray you and not fit just right, but a new bag always makes you look hot.
“sup neighbor!” it doesn’t get much more adorable than that.
i’m on week three of my 10k training program – doesn’t june just feel like the right month to tackle projects?
life is made up of moments, you take the best part of those moments, fill them with gratitude and share them with us… and you wear great shoes…
Love this…it’s all about taking a step back and just soaking it all in!
LOVE the saddle shoes!! I always wanted some as a child, but my SUPER flat, SUPER NARROW (we’re talking width size AAA narrow!) feet would not allow for it ๐ I can only hope that when I have children, their feet will not be as jacked up as their mommy’s feet are so they can wear cute little kid shoes!!
Oh. My. Word. Those saddle shoes are far beyond precious! Your girls are just darling. So proud of Nella and her gettin’-around-progress! She’s totally a pro at the neighbor wave!
Your blog is so gosh darn inspiring. Thank you for giving me that extra nudge to stop aiming for the perfectly posed photos, and start finding beauty in the unplanned, spur of the moment ones!
What a delight…my kids are all grown up… and reading your blog brings back memories so sweet I can almost feel them! Thank you thank you! Happy Thursday!
LOVING your shoes! My june challenge to to have a baby! I am 4 days from my due date and this momma is getting really anxious to meet her little dude ๐
omgosh why do we do that to ourselves, hot clothes, hot weather and kids that want to run for hours! Btdt mama.
Love sweet Nella in the box and waving at the neighbour, getting so big!
I want to be your neighbor just for the pure joy it must be to get a Nella wave. Oh my heart!
LOVE the BAG, my husband is going to kill me for buying another. Thank goodness he loves me despite my bag hording.
I fully admit the thought of Lainey’s picture hanging on my fridge has me very excited.
Lots of cute pix in this post! Fav has to be Nella wavin’ & walkin’….adorable. I heart sadle shoes! xo
Love the Nella..’sup neighbor picture!
Great post, as usual! LOVED the picture of Nella walking with her pushcart. You go Nella!
My June challenge, hmmm…I guess I would have to say getting my brother to come to our dad’s house this Father’s Day. Things have been really strained between them for the past 9 months, so I will consider it a success if I can just get my brother to visit our dad with me, or for him to at least call our dad.
Love your posts Kelle, they *Always* bring a smile to my face! ๐
My June challenge is to be “soda free” by the end of the month. Well, I’m doing a lot better about the amount I drink, but I’ve had kind of a relapse the last few days. I’m going to really have to push if I’m going to be totally free from this addiction by July. But it is definitely worth it…no more bloat, more energy, more money in my pocket, and setting a good example for my daughter. I can do this!
I love that bag
I LOVE LOVE your blog!
Thanks for letting us partake in your soup bowl of memories. You rock.
Oh! One last thing, Lainey is so, so brave for climbing all the way to the top of that climbing structure at the park! Such a big girl ๐
Lots of love,
~Dana M.
Happy summer and I hear you about the heat. I teach tennis up here in humid Indiana and I don’t think the kids realize it gets hot…they just keep going as I wilt on on the court. Love the bag! But I really just want the picture Lainey will draw! ๐
That bag is very cute. Love the shoes too. Your blog is great…thanks for sharing.
I can’t believe how Nella is progressing! She’s unbelievable! Your lil’ family amazes me! BTW…Love the bag!
I’m a recent junkie to your blog. I think my husband is tired of hearing about my new “best blog friend” Kelle. But–he’s used to it and loves me for it. I lauged when I read about your trip to the park in your summer “winter” suit–something I would do too and then turn into a big cranky mess.
You’re a great inspiration! Thanks for putting all this great stuff out there!
I’m always thinking of that imaginary shutter too, capturing the memories that my camera misses.
Love your blog!
I noticed the saddle oxfords – pure jealousy over here!
I love how you describe the ordinary and the extraordinary. Nella’s wave to neighbors is precious. I heart your saddle shoes and your newest sponsor.
Love Nella walking and waving… both of my kids used that push toy when learning to walk! My son used it to help him go trick or treating, didn’t really go with the costume, but he rocked it!
I want saddle shoes for myself! So cute!!
My June Challenge is to not be a yeller. I no longer want to yell at my three sweet babies (more accurately, the two older ones – they are 2 and 4…). So far, so good. That’s over TWO WEEKS!!!! ๐
Beautiful photos! my favorite is the one of Lainey with her hair backlit from the window. ๐
Love Nella’s little wave! Such positive energy. ๐
Saddle shoes remind me of kindergarten and my pink and one pair! But I’m not so sure I could pull them off now! Love your photos and that bag is really cute so I had to comment!
I want me some saddle shoes!

Oh, I would love to get that bag. I haven’t carried a ‘purse’ for 4 years now since the diaper bag has been my purse through 3 kids now. Thank you Kellie for representing all of our Down Syndrome kids and spreading the word that they are just like any other child (expept even more special ~ I think!).
Another great post! Love the bag and love your dad’s quote even more:) What a great way to view life as a thermostat!
Amongst the serenity prayers and the famous-dead-poet quotes, I’ve been longing for a new set of words strung together to provide some guidance and inspiration. Tell your Poppa thanks. He has inspired.
love the shoes! sheepskin…ha! love the description.
love the pic of lainey in the hat, very california laid back hipster cool.
Love your style, girl!
June project: remodeling my bathroom with your IKEA frames idea and some new fancy wallpaper!
Love those bags, it’d work perfect for a diaper bag!
I just LOVE your blog. Your pictures and words are a delight. Thank you for sharing it.
love the colors of the giveaway bag! pink and olive have long been favorites of mine but lately i find myself drawn to bright orange and yellow, too…
Ummm, the shoes….dreamy. The stick-with-it purse…downright adorable. I can relate with the hallucinations at the neighborhood park. We are in San Antonio, and unless you go park it at 8 am, you are in for a thermostat challenge! Love that dad-ism though….I think I have to write that down.
xo
Hoping for a Lainey original!!!

Love the pic of Nella and daddy in the pool while she’s laughing. Oh, and those shoes are so “Holly Hobbie-ish”!!
I agree with the comment that they are so many moments when your children are little that it is hard to photag their entire life. I look back each week, and wish I would have taken more pictures but haven’t! I love your photos!
I’m a new subscriber to your blog. You are a great photographer and you’re girls are darling! Love the bag and the shoes.
LOVE the saddle shoes! But my favorite thing about this post? (aside from your 2 little beauties) the THERMOSTAT! Genius, I tell you!
Haha wondered when you would mention the SHOES!!! I didnt forget ;). Oh and ‘sup Nella!
summer hugs to all of you!
What great pics! My son too doesn’t care if mommy is melting – there’s always time for one more trip down the slide it seems!!
Pictures of your kids make me smile.
I did notice the saddle shoes and they’re absolutely darling! Honestly thought the giveaway would be a pair! ๐
Thank you Southern Gal! You just answered my long time dilemma of what to do on the one bare wall left in my house! Photo gallery!
Also, I’m uploading a picture but I wanted to put my JC here too…Get my girl outside as much as possible! We’re in little ole Ohio so we soak up as much sun as we can before it retreats like an overstuffed winter bear. Pool, park, grass, sidewalk chalk. At 9 months old, Nevaeh is a total Fish and Sun junkie ๐
Hey you! I have a new challenge, and it’s to learn all the words to every song on my, I mean Lila’s new Justin Bieber cd. But I’m going to refrain from posting a pic of me singing and clutching his photo because I am 42 and that might verge on being creepy.
xo
(Will I be seeing you tonite?)
Ahh, love your posts. I always freeze and stop everything else to savor every word, every image.
I love those bags!! And the Nella waving picture – edible!
Love this post as always–your words and pictures never cease to put s smile on my face and brighten my day!
cute shoes! cute bag! cute girls!
my june challenge is to workout consistently. i’m doing the 30 day shred. it’s going great so far. now to stick with it past june!!
“sup neighbor” ha, LOVE it! June Challenge…..oh my I guess my June challenge will be to think up a July challenge:) Love the bag!
Awesome post! Loved the quote from you dad, and loved all the pictures of your girls. Your blog reminds me everyday to be fully present in my kids lives. In a blink of an eye they will be grown and I will want this time back.
Love, Love, Love your blog! Thank you so much for sharing your life stories with us!
I am definitly going to try to be more of a thermostat, that comment was great! I loved it.
I too need a go to bag. I have too many that I like to use for one occasion and then I don’t know what to do about the rest…. =)
I love summertime. The bag and the shoes are awesome!
Learning how to walk is hard work but super cute to watch!
I have accomplished one thing off my June list. I emptied 4 totes and mailed one giant box of baby clothes to my friend! Those 4 totes lifted a giant weight off my shoulders!
love love LOVE the picture of Nella riding the dog!! She is too sweet….!
And, LOVE the bag too! ๐
1.I follow elisalou’s blog! She has the cutest family!
2. I love saddle shoes but they make my feet look ginormous
3. I joined the June Challenge…are y’all really interested in my computer and pile of papers?
Have a good one ๐
I don’t know what is cuter, the bag or the fact that a note from Lainey is tucked inside…..such beautiful pictures.
alright kelle (i’m back)- this was the gentle nudge i needed to finally get the antonoff saddle shoes in brown. as in, first thing i did this morning! xo
I love your blog and all your inspiration!! Loving the new sponsor too:)
“sup neighbor” – that’s my child. Not a single neighbor or dog (or person in the grocery store or Target) can pass by without her waving and yelling “Hi!” (and of course, only progressively getting louder and more insistent if she’s ignored at first) Love ๐
I love the picture of Nella waving to the neighbor. My little one does the same thing. He knows no strangers!
I am now a thermostat!…..love your dad’s definition…”Thermometers only measure the temperature around them. Thermostats change it”
I want that Stick-with-it Bag….but I think I want Lainey’s picture just as badly!
xoxo,
Bug & Ruby’s Gram
The girls are so lovely!
I love the picture of Nella riding the little dog :0)
I love the picture of Nella riding the little dog :0)
I so love your blog. Your photos of your girls are precious. And the wave to the neighbor – made me swoon! Too adorable!
My June goals…clear.out.the.clutter. I am going through my house like a mad woman collecting things I either forgot we had or haven’t used in years. I am going to host one huge yard sale and what doesn’t sell goes to Goodwill. Ahhh.. I will be so happy to have that horrific job finished.
Have a super day!
Can’t you just pick one and stick with it!? Sounds so familiar ๐ BTW – your shoes are ADORABLE. My daughter just learned how to say bubbles and she say the picture of bubbles and is now flopping around the room says….bbbooooobbbble! LOVE IT.
Love the new sponsor!! Those bags are to-die-for cute! (As are your girls, of course).
Reading your blog always makes me want to get up from my desk and just run away from my job for the summer. Thanks for the chance to win the gorgeous bag!
I love your bag ๐ your shoes are cute too!!
Love the boho bag! I’m always struggling to find a purse that’s stylish, practical, holds all my crap AND can fit a diaper, wipes and a sippy cup. This one is perfection!
Love the bag, and your shoes! Lainey is looking so much like you in some of these pics! And I dare anyone having a bad day to look at a picture of Nella’s smiling eyes and not feel as if all is right in the world!
Ahhhh – I love that bag! I spotted it in the bokeh of one of the pictures – and had a fleeting thought of “Awww, I love that bag! Would love if that was a giveaway”. And then, lo and behold! It’s the giveaway! So exciting ๐
My June goal is to stop hugging the toilet ๐ I am 14 weeks pregnant with twins. And my face has been in a toilet for the last 2.5 months. So my goal is that by Week 16 I’ll be flying high on a pregnancy glow and major food cravings. Instead of saltines and toilet time ๐
My sister in law would love your saddle shoes. She has them in like every color. I would love to win the purse. My current purse is well loved and getting threadbare.
My June project is to right some old wrongs and pay some old debt. Ha! Sounds easy, right? Not!
As always ~ you ROCK! Love the shoes & the bag! But most of all I love that you inspire me to go deeper and seize every moment as an opportunity to truly experience life! Very beautiful!!!
I am like you, I have multiple bags and cannot ever find one that is just right so I flip back and forth, never settling. I love this boho bag, it’s big enough to carry all my mommy stuff and the random pacifiers and a pullup just in case, but it looks awesome and I love the pockets!
This was a great post (like all of them). I watch my two sweet girls together and I take mental snapshots hoping that I always remember these moments and that amazing sister bond they share that makes me smile and tear up a little all at the same time.
p.s. you rock the saddle shoes ๐
YOU are a breath of fresh air. Truly. My June project? Ha, to get my head on straight! We are getting ready to relocate from Michigan to Florida at the end of this summer (sound familiar??) and I feel like I’m running in all different directions, and just trying not to work too much so that I can really enjoy the last summer here with my two little ones. It’s stretching me for sure.
Beautiful post ๐
LOVE that bag and I’m sure the picture is even more beautiful. Thanks for another wonderful post to brighten my day!
look @ nella rockin’ that cart! woot-woot ๐
love the shoes, love the bag, love your littles!
I just dont know if i’ll ever get over Nella’s smile! its addicting and contagious!
I absolutely love reading your blog and watching/reading as Nella accomplishes new things. The photo of her waving is just perfect. And your shoes are amazing.
My sweet girl waves to everyone just like Nella does – it must be the age. Wave to everyone as they go by, but if they get too close, it quickly turns into hiding behind Mommy’s legs. And this reminds me – I must get Katie a lawnmower that blows bubbles.
Love the pictures! Love your blog! And love the bag. ๐
Love love love the new bags.
Oh and your blog!
Thank you for being real!
You are such and inspiration! You’ve inspired me to take more random pics of my kiddies. In fact, that’s my June challenge, although it will most likely spill into July, August, and on and on. I was without my camera’s for 2 weeks when my husband was in Europe for school but they are back, baby and I can’t, no, won’t be stopped!
Your new “can’t you just pick one” bag is SO delicious! I am a lover of bags and purses and usually migrate towards leather but that fabric is adorable!
I look forward to your next post and the lovely pics and messages that will no doubt lie within it ๐
~Erin
I heart saddle shoes! I always wanted a pair growing up. Just might have to get some for my 2 daughters!
jsampson26@hotmail.com
i grew up in the southeast and i remember that scorching heat very well – you can almost feel it coming through your pictures!
Today on the way to daycare we were listening to the song “Jolene” and after it was over I hear coming from the back seat my 19 month old singing “doween, doween, doweeeeeeeennnnnnn”. Love those moments.
Oh, saddle shoes…a whole bunch of awesome:) Lovely post, as always!
oh. my.
i have already pinned and tweeted about three of those bags! thanks for sharing!!!!!
Lovely pics, love the bubbles and water shot, and of course, Miss Nella looking so amazingly proud of herself when walking about, and why not, it’s a big deal girl!! Good job being a trooper in the hot hot weather, and you’re right, kids don’t notice the weather, Lainey looked like she could play on forever! Beautiful!
Loved this post and what you said about the moments that don’t get published but live on in our memories. It reminds me of a scene in the movie Saving Private Ryan. I don’t remember very much at all about that movie except for this scene…it’s Tom Hanks talking to a couple of his troops. They are each sharing special things they miss about home, special memories. They ask Tom Hanks’ character about his wife. He looks off in the distance thinking about her and says something like, no boys, that’s just for me. Love that. Those moments just for us to hold onto. Precious.
Love the saddle shoes, love Nella wavin’ to the neighbor…’Sup, Nella?! And that quote from your father… I wrote it down a long time ago when he left it in the comments…it’s hangin’ on the fridge. Which is where I will hang Lainey’s drawing if I win that bag! Because I’m feelin’ lucky today…what are my odds?? Something like 1 in 2,000,000?? Not a problem, I’ve got this.
Happy Thursday, friend.
XOXO,
Angie from Ohio
Love your blog, love your photos!
Love the bag!
llwambold@aol.com
Love the shoes, love Nella’s wave, love Lainey’s flushed and sweaty face ignoring the heat.
I neeeeeeeed a summer bag!! I keep transferring sunscreen/wipes/bug spray/diapers from one bag to another to another…
You are so right about all the little daily moments as a Mom that you take a mental picture of. Yes it is wonderful to have the actual pictures but I find myself leafing through the mental ones more often! ๐
Love the shoes, love the bag and love love love seeing your girls smiling faces on the blog.
Love love love the shoes. Love the bag (love Amy Butler fabrics….). Love starting the day with a smile because of the smiles that radiate from my monitor!
I have been reading your blog for quite some time now but have never commented. When I was a little girl, I would pray every night that God would give me a baby with D.S. when I grew up. My heart for children like Nella has always been so strong. I am 28 now, and like to think that if God did ever decide to give me a baby with D.S., that I would be able to handle it with such grace and dignity as you. I love reading your stories about her, how far she has come, so amazing she is doing, and seeingh the pictures that accompany. Nella and Lainey are blessed to have a mother like you.
I love Nella’s comment waiving to her neighbor. She is just too cute!
Love your blog…love your pics…and love the bag ๐
You have a wonderful gift with words… is there a book in your future!?
Love the Nella walking wave! She is so proud!!
Nella is such a doll! Great pics this week and the video of Bella army crawling!! PDFP!!
Love the bag and absolutely love your blog:) I think you are a breath of fresh air and love seeing your girls…and I love what you said about taking pictures, I totally agree.
I treasure the mental moments that need not be shared with others! Smiles!!!

Awww the pig-tails and pony-tail are too cute on your littles.
The purse looks beautiful and I’d love to have Lainey’s picture!
~I
ooooh! yummy! love, love, LOVE the shoes. a big ol’ summercrush on them is what i’ve got!!
Once again another great post! Your girls are adorable, and I love the saddle shoes.
Little Miss Nella is so fearless–you can see the pride and determination on her face! Thanks for sharing your moments. I look forward to reading your blog every day.
๐
A cosmic camera would rock! Wishin right along with ya. Love the bag too….baby #9’s things (along with a generous supply of mommas) would look lovely in it.
Love ur posts!
I have totally pulled a tampon out of my purse in front of people when I was searching for a pen…LOL…it happens.
thank you for reminding me that these moments are special. right now during the night my twin girls can not yet put the binky back in their mouths…..yawn!
My family has this thing we do when we are in the middle of a moment we never want to forget. It is called “Freeze the moment”, Everybody holds hands and stops talking and closes their eyes and listens and takes in all the noises, chaos, quiet, whatever there is going on and then years later we always remember the “Freeze the moments” we did a long time ago.
I just love reading your blog. Your girls are absolutely adorable!
I’m slowly becoming addicted to your blog- I look every morning waiting for an update! Thanks for sharing, you are a great writer/photographer and it looks like mother too.
Also, your blog REALLY makes me want to live in Florida!
I love love love that bag ๐
My June challenge was to savor the moments with my little girl before I sent her off to pre-k. Well off she went this week, big and proud and excited. While momma sat home crying her eyes out, hating the silence that my house was filled with and counting down the time until she could come home and I could hold her again. I am surviving much better than I thought I would and she is doing fantastic. So I am proud to say that I think I have conquered my June challenge and now I am going to start a new one…. must find summer hobby to keep me busy and make the time pass quicker.
Thanks for your blogs Kelle, they are amazing
Nella will be walking before you know it! How exciting ๐
Love the pics of Lainey, she has some looks that just let you know what a deep and thoughtful girl you have there!
Have a wonderful weekend!
But the shoes! I need to know where you got the shoes!!!
I’m going to have to start limiting myself on when I can check Blogger because any time there is a new post from you I can’t put the computer to the side to read it later…I have to read it now…even if that means my little guy runs around naked a few minutes longer than he should.
Love Nella’s pigtails and love her “‘sup neighbor?” pose! Too cute! I purposely left my camera at home the other day to use my “mental camera.” It was a nice change of pace.
I LOVE all your photos, and I’ve actually learned a lot from them for taking photos at work!
My favorites this time: The look on the dog’s face with Nella sitting on him, and her pride in herself in walking.
Oh love love that bag. And a Lainey original – sweet daddy!
I love the wave picture! Just great. I also love Lainey’s outfits, she reminds me of my daughter who is not happy with her outfit unless she is wearing a rainbow!
LOVE!!
You inspired me with your June challenge to do two things (sadly, no pictures)- dry our laundry on the line all summer, no exceptions (we live in the desert, so come on, if we can’t do it no one can), and to actually stick to my running schedule. So far, so good. Thank you!
Go Nella!!
As a special education teacher, my June hasn’t really started yet. On June 20th-August 25th my summer challenge is to eat better, work out more, play with my friends, stay out past 9:00pm, and buy a house. Whew…and I thought the school year was rough!
I have often thought that if I could have a superhero power it would be to have my eyes be a camera. For those moments where I am napping with my baby or where he shares his cookie without being asked, I could just look and capture those moments. Love your post!!
haha! I know that feeling you described sitting at the park! Esp the part about your legs not staying crossed. Oh the things we do for our kids, cuz I’m sure I wouldn’t sit there for anyone else!
cute, cute! Have a great summer!
I wish that I had the stamina to keep up with all the snapshots that I think I’m recording in my head. I pull my iPhone out quickly and even the camera sometimes, and yet I never seem to get to my blog to pull and post. And then I come here, to your site, and I get so inspired to do it all over again – try, try again, right? I will try, try again. One of these times it will happen. ๐
Thank you for your words, your photos. I love to see your girls grow…it makes me cherish my own kids, especially my newest – my own little girl, the last one that will be little.
And your last post, about going to Courtland Center – haha, I laugh because I work in Flint and actually knew what you were talking about. I don’t know much around here because I don’t live up here, but I knew where that was. LOL
Happy day to you and your family!!
I was like that purse is way cute.. But when you said a picture from Laniey I was determined to get my name in the drawing!! Her pictures are fridge worthy. Love the walking pictures, she is such a rockstar!!
‘Don’t be a thermometer, be a thermostat’
Love it!!
Love your way with word, love you beautiful girls, would love to win the bag!
Love the blog, love the shoes, love the bag, but you could just go ahead and send me a pic by Lainey, that’d be great!
Three things. 1. LOVE the bag. 2. LOVE the photo with the bubbles. 3. LOVE the commentary on “sister” and her new moves. ๐ ‘Sup Neighbor? LOL
Love the bag, not sure I could pull off the shoes, but sure you can. Great blog!
I love the shoes. Love them. That purse is adorable too.
I am working on my June challenging and adding more. I will post a few to Flickr tonight.
Love the bag for sure. As of this June I have been working on making a quilt for my hubby and I to share in the heat of summer so that we are no longer sleeping under sepperate blankets.
Love the pictures, as always- but especially the ones of Nella walking this time!
My June project is to get me and hubby moved across the country. He’s already there, so I’m here packing all by myself (poor me, right? ๐ ) Thank goodness my mom is coming tomorrow to help before the movers come on Monday!!
Love for the lanai in this post. Hello summer, so glad you are here!
Thanks for inspiring my day.
Kelle-
I really enjoy your blog and how creative and caring you are. I looking to buy my sister a present and I am looking for ideas. I want to give her something to show her how much I love and appreciate her. She loves silver bracelets. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Your dad’s quote advising you to be a thermostat is awesome, I am totally going to “steal” that and use it as a mantra around our house. This June I am challenging myself to get out of the house! Living in Texas with 100 degree weather almost every day and a 5 week old infant, I tend to crawl into my air conditioned hole. I am challenging myself to visit friends, go walk around the mall (always a lovely crisp cool), and run errands, regardless of the inevitable sweaty baby and mommy.
We just moved to IL so this summer I am going to introduce my girls to the prarie land. We are goign to visit state parks and walk slowly on trails and take in the scenery and the change in nature. They get so excited when we pass farms with cows…welcome to the midwest ๐
I don’t think you can take enough pictures to even get a glimmer into what it is like to be with your child day in and day out, but you come close, love it and it inspires me.
I love the saddle shoes and I love Nella’s wave! Thanks for inspiring me to document the moments in my family’s life.
love this post. you are inspiring and an extremely gifted writer! I get sucked into every post.
P.S. You go girl, rock those saddle shoes!
I. LOVE. YOUR. BLOG. Seriously. I can’t get enough. You have such a beautiful way with words. And such a beautiful family. Reading your blog in the morning before starting a long day of work puts me in a good mood. And for that, I thank you.
Such Beautiful pictures of your girls as always!!!! They are so cute and I love Nella’s Neighbor wave, ha!
Aint it the truth about kiddos being unaware of discomfort or inclement weather or not having the most ideal of situations – they just want to play and have fun! I laughed at the idea of the kiddos peeing in their snowsuits – ha!
Being a parents makes me aware of the sacrifices – big and small – that my parents made for me. We learn things from our kids, and we also appreciate the things our caregivers have done for us. ๐
It’s amazing how we may be sitting there at the playground, sweating and burning to death in the sun, unable to keep our legs crossed – hehe – but feeling the joy and admiration that our littles bring makes it all worth it.
There are so many times throughout my day, week, whatever when I’ll think – I need to get this on camera! I don’t want to forget this! And there are many times when I will snap a picture. But I also think just relishing the moment while you’re in it is priceless.
Oh, I am loving the “Sup Neighbor” photo. Oh sweetness!
And the picture that Lainey drew, it already has a home….waiting next to my girls pictures on my Fridge…..
Blessings Kelle!
Thanks for brightening a very dark, rainy day. Love the S’up Neighbour picture!
Hello! I’m a new-ish reader and I love your blog and your photos. What a wonderful family!
I also love giveaways…you rock! Thanks.
Love the picture of Nella sitting on the dog…Love the hobo bag too!
i love that…thermostat instead of thermometer. I need to live for the moment a little more…thanks for the reminder!
I love your photos. I’d love to take such lovely photos of my (future) little ones. Love the shoes. But I also love the bag. And you might actually let me have that last one. =)
while I think the bag is fantastic, I think Lainey’s drawing will be just as spectacular! I just love your family.
I love your blog! I am still very jealous of your hot weather. We are topping of the temperature today at 63! What??? We haven’t even reached 80 yet this year. I will live vicariously through your pictures of swimming in pools and running barefoot through the street.
Love the blog and love the bag!
My challenge for the year, not just June, was to keep a blog going…and it’s been a struggle to both find time to type and to choose moments that I thought people would want to hear about. Yours is an inspiration and a reminder that ALL of the moments are worthy; I just need to pick some and move on! Thank you for helping me keep on keepin’ on…love those shoes!
LOL. loved the shoes!
I never commented on the last post, but I was totally with you irresponsibly french braiding my hair listening to LFO. (I even went to a concert once). It just took me back! As for your new post, love it! Love that Nella waves at everyone going by, my son is the same way driving his Barbie Jeep ๐
Love watching Nella’s progress!! That boho bag would look lovely toting around my summer knitting projects. ๐
I LOVE the bag!! I don’t blame you for showing off those saddle shoes. I’m pretty sure I would sleep in some if I had some.
Of course I noticed the saddle shoes!! Adorable as always. My June challenge was to learn to knit and I did, but now I feel like my eyes are in a perpetual state of wanting to cross. Ah, new hobbies. Love that Nella is such a water bug! And I truly want to win the hobo bag just for Lainey’s pic (my office needs some art).
Love your photos and the sweet way you see life. Thanks for sharing!
My June project is to get ready for my little guy set to arrive around July 16th. I can’t wait!
Go Nella! She is too cute pushing her little cart in that ruffle-bum outfit. With all of the fabulous moments you manage to capture with the camera, I can only imagine the massive amount of beautiful ones that are stored in the memory bank. Your blog is lovely.
Love the roomy bag – perfect for those quick summer outings to the park when I need to pack a few extra things!
Nella is so cute – I love seeing her grow and meet new goals.
Looks like you are having a fun summer, thanks for reminding me to get out there in it!
Those saddle shoes remind me of a pair I had as a kid that I LOVED. Time to find a pair for my daughter.
LOVE LOVE LOVE the saddle shoes! I noticed them right away and fell in love!! My June challenge is to play more. Less laziness on my part and play more with my kids. Enjoy their energy instead of being zapped by it!!
My june project is to DO more with my kids. Not just talk about going to the zoo…get up and go!
Love that purse!
I never get tired of looking at your beautiful photos of everyday life. Your girls are adorable!
Oh my, loving the bag but I am a sucker for purses and bags. My son just had surgery on Tuesday (19 years old) so my mind is heavy right now. The end of his pain is finally in sight though!
I love your blog. A sign of too much blog reading would quite possibly be that last night I dreamed I was outside at a table with you and your girls and I was squirting Lainey with a water gun. She had a cup on her head and was running around trying to catch the water drops in the cup. Yes, too much blog reading. But it was such a sweet dream. Hope someday I have my own little girls!
I completely agree with you when you take so many mental photos of moments – if only those could magically become real photos to look back on and treasure!
You can never have too many purses ๐
OMgness…I said ‘whoohoo when I saw the bag…then squealed when I saw about the Lainey pic! haha Great post it made me smile! ๐
Love the Boho Bag! Even looks good laying among the fray in the background of that 2nd pic. I love that things don’t always perfect and tidy in your pictures. I posted a video of my baby girl laughing on my blog and I cringed at the mess in the backround, but if I would have cleaned up first, I would have missed capturing the worlds most infectious baby laugh ever. And the world needs to see more babies laughing…and more messes in the background. If you need a laugh http://incredibleedibleegg.blogspot.com/2011/06/video-attempt.html
Love the bag, the shoes, the quote form your dad and your photos! Your family is lovely.
I too could learn from Lainey and Nella. To live more in the moment and ignore little discomforts like NC heat. Afterall, come wintertime I’ll be missing these 97 degree days.
This comment has been removed by the author.
Love the shoes! Glad you have challenged some people, I have been challenging myself for a year and lost all the baby weight from my 16 month old and some from my 4.5 year old too.
I hope running is going well for you. Only 2 1/2 more weeks till I can run agin!
Laughing so hard over the picture of Nella sitting on the dog…the dog has a look like, “Seriously? And you wonder why I bolt every chance I get!”
Totally heart the new boho bag!!!
Happy Thursday from NC!
E
Okay…can I just say that dog of yours is a saint that was handpicked by God to be a part of your family.
Thank you for sharing!
Abby
Laughed my head off at the ” ‘sup neighbor?” – how cute is that Nella?! Love it! Need that cute bag for summer…
What a lovely “stick with it” bag!
I love love love Nella’s wave to the neighbors. She is a doll baby. And a mobile one at that! You’re growing up fast sweet Nella!
Ahh, so lucky to have the pool during these hot summer months. Love the bag!!!!
I teach 5th grade and every year on the first day of school I tell my students that saying about the thermometers and thermostats and we refer to it all year! I push them to be thermostats to create a positive classroom climate for us all!
Love your blog!!
Loving those shoes! Cute!
My husband teases me about my “wall of bags” in our closet, and I could NEVER stick with just one!!!! ๐
Some of my favorite parts of your blogs posts are your captions such as ” ‘sup, neighbor? ” Cracks me up! Please enter me in your giveaway. Mama needs a new bag. And I’d like to win something for once, damnit. ๐
I have been a lurker for a long time. I appreciate your outlook on life. I can be having a bad day and then read your blog and my outlook changes by seeing what a fine example you set for having an attitude of gratitude. Thank you. Those saddle shoes are fabulous!
I love your blog and I LOVE the boho bag!
~Paula.J.~
Love the bag! Love the shoes!
Thanks for making my morning coffee time so wonderful this morning!
Ps My littlest is head bopping to the music as I type.
I love your blog. I check every day to see if there is a new post. I love your outlook on life, kids and admire your photography. I too love photography but just need to take it to the next step. Thanks for the inspiration.
I love your blog, Kelle! Part 1 of my June challenge is to finish my baby boy’s nursery before he makes his big entrance into the world in July. Part 2 is to pay off my credit card and purchase a new camera so I can capture many memories. Looking good for both goals!
love the bags, love the shoes, and as always your stories and pictures
I thought we might just be kindred spirits and today the saddle shoes just confirmed it!
Thanks for sharing your family with us out here!
ooh, I like that bag. and the shoes, too.

Love the saddle shoes! And, I want the bag.
๐
I’ve fallen in love with you and your girls, and the rest of your family. I enjoy being able to be a part of your life of sorts. You are an amazing mother and wife and such an inspiration for myself and many others. Never stop blogging!!
My June project has been something no photo could express. (yes, this coming from a fellow photog)
I vowed to be more present in my life. We have had a lot of circumstances happen in our life over the past few months that were leaving me in my dream land of not wanting to deal with my present right now. So far, I have been better. Instead of being crushed about the bad things, I have been focusing on the small, little things that at the end of the day make it not so bad. I have been more present with my girls, playing and learning from them. One thing that has really helped me is a book called the zen of happiness. Love it, it talk about how everything in your life is the best possible thing that could happen. It has moved and inspired me into a new way of living…perfect for my June project ๐
Here is a link, you would enjoy the book!
http://www.amazon.com/Zen-Art-Happiness-Chris-Prentiss/dp/0943015537
Here in the Dominican Republic, it’s been SUPER hot lately, and today we finally got a bit of rain to freshen things up. But I always tell everyone,(as sweat pours down my forehead and onto my scrubs), “It’s all in your head!” ๐
CUTE!!!
your blog always makes me smile-except when it makes me cry. ๐ thanks for sharing so generously.
ps: love the saddle shoes.
those saddle shoes are pretty fab! & that bag is cute! & Nella walking around & waving to a neighbour… love it! xx
Love the picture of Nella waving. She is the most adorable thing!!
i had a pair of white and pink saddle shoes growing that i distinctly remember begging my mom to buy for me in the store. man i loved those shoes
‘Sup Neighbor!! Love it!!!!
Summer is when it is hard for me to constantly have the camera around my neck or in my arms. But it is also the time when you will most likely hear me groan “Oh, where is my camera? Did I forget it!?”
It’s that crazy Catch 22. I want to take the pictures but I also want to be in the water playing or on the swings too. Sometimes you gotta make those “tough” decisions, huh?
Have a great day!
Fabulous bag & ridiculous shoes. Oh my. Love them.
While playing with my new camera (just learning- so much to learn!) I find that I wish I had more time, or could learn how, to step outside myself more to document more of the sweet, fleeting, everyday, mundane, fabulous moments of my life. I think it’ll come. I hope so. You are such an inspiration. I love your photos.
Love babies and walkers! Such a short-lived, but absolutely adorable milestone! And that wave… that will put a smile on my face the rest of the day ๐
Reading your blog gets me even more excited about the little girl growing in my belly! After a couple years of greatness that is our little boy a world of pink will be awesome!
I wanted to log a 100 miles this month. And, I’m lucky if I’ve logged 10. How sad is that? (but, I justify it, by at least getting my rear to cardio class two nights a week) *sigh* Life. HAPPENS.
There’s always July….right?
Oh how I wish I lived on your street so that I could see that Nella wave in person!
Love reading and enjoying your photos.. thanks
I don’t have pictures of my June challenge; instead words. This month my goal was to write “something” everyday. One day only consisted of three sentences but it did get done! I love a good challenge and a mini, one month challenge, seems soooo much more doable than a year long challenge!
PS. Am loving those saddle shoes!
i love the “… be a thermostat” comment.
good words to live by.
Oh I heart saddle shoes- so quintiscential to little girl-dom!
Cole
I love your Dad’s prudent words! I will use that from now on, Thanks!
I love love love your pictures…I take an obscene amount of pictures of my girls. My birthday is next week and a little birdie (read:my 9 year old) tells me I should be expecting a brand new dslr camera…I was bursting at the seems when I got the news!!! I cant wait.
Yay fro Nella. She is adorable. I love the waving at the neighbor while walking around…and how proud she looks…
love Nella pushing that walker! too cute! ‘sup Nella!
Ahhh, your blog is so fun and so is that bag ๐
I absolutely love the picture of the pup with Nella. I hope my sweet baby dog is around when I have kids so I can have tons of pictures of big dogs and little children. So precious!
Love the bag. Love the shoes. Love your girls. Love your blog.
I must admit that I have not challenged myself during June. I’m liking the fact that I get to take it easy this month.
I love reading your blog. Makes me want to instantly get off the computer play with the kids and take even more pictures then I already do. ๐ Thanks for sharing with all of us.
Love the bag!
Love the bag!
June challenge….I need to Scrapbook I have a box full of photos… that need to get in a book…. I love your Dad’s advice…that is why your so wise…
I would love to see some of Lainey’s homemade pictures.
Love the bag, love the picture of Nella waving…what a personality!
the part about being a thermostat? l-o-v-e. what a wise dad you have. thanks for pasing on a little wisdom ๐
oh saddle shoes. who doesn’t love them?!?
I do not envy your hot weather. We just got into summer here in CO and the highest I can handle these days is 75 ๐ hahahaha. I’m such a wimp! ๐
Love the bags . . . love your blog!
I’ve been on vacation for a week & oh, how I missed your blog. I’m glad to be back & all caught up. I do miss however, watching my boys swim in the ocean and look for shells on the beach. Lovin your homestate of FL. Pretty sure I could’ve stayed forever. How sweet that Lainey put a note in the pocket of the bag!!
Love the shoes and the bag…hope I win! Happy Summer!
Appreciate your blog! No one’s life is all roses – – but you have truly turned challenges into beautiful learning experiences – – for yourself and the rest of us!!
I do the same thing – when I’m blowing on my 2 year old’s thighs, I think, “I’m going to picture this moment forever – it’ll be like an actual photograph.”
How stinkin cute is that bag? Your saddle shoes are way cuter than the ones I had to wear with uniforms in elementary school! Rock them.
Love the picture of Lainey backlit by the window – I hope I can learn to take such great pictures of my son once he’s born! Also love the saddle shoes. Where did you find them?!
I love your dad’s thermometer thermostat comment. So glad to be at the time in our lives when our dad’s are smart and not annoying!
Have a Happy Father’s Day weekend!
this purse would be great for carrying my supplies to student teaching this fall, and lainey’s picture would look great on me & my roommate’s fridge ๐
I loved your Dad’s quote! Nella is a rock star!
Love the blog and the wonderful pictures. Helps remind to slow down and really enjoy my two little ones before they’re all grown up!
Schools out !! and I cant believe my little girl , i cradled in my arms for years is now graduated from kindergarten and will be entering 1st grade in the fall. I plan to enjoy these summer months playing in water, bubbles and sand !!
love the pics and the saddle shoes , omg so cute!!!
love and blessings
the doughtys
favorite pic is nella sitting on the dog! too precious. and the ‘sup neighbor? one ๐ those bags are cute! i’d love one.
Love the saddle shoes. I had them in elementary school in black and pink and thought I was the coolest thing. Which I was. Who isn’t with saddle shoes?
I have to find my camera! I’ve spent the last 2 years holding and comforting a cranky new one. There aren’t nearly as many pictures of her as her big sister.
June challenge: no more fast food and a daily walk, as long as it’s not storming. My girls and pup are enjoying the walks. July and August are going to need challenges too!
I love your blog and love looking at your pictures. I feel like I am right along with you watching your girls grow. I try to bring my camera along with me and capture every moment of my boys but it doesn’t seem to happen. You inspire me though ๐ Thanks!!
Also would love if you would do another post about photography and what lense’s you use!!!
we had such a long winter – loooking forward to the warmth – enjoy your blog!
Loving this post. Thanks for making me smile this morning. The “‘sup neighbor” wave/caption totally had me totally cracking up!
And I love this bag. Oh who am I kidding…I love just about any bag. But seriously, this one is calling my name! ๐
For the record, I have no doubt that you are completely enjoying every second of your girls’ lives — all the while documenting those memories for them (and for you) AND inspiring others to do fun things like go strawberry picking…which, by the way, we are doing tomorrow!
Have an awesome weekend, Kelle!
Nella walking so great I cant wait tell Dylan will even try to stand. Its been a hard road but im so looking forward to crawling, standing and walking!!!
Ah yes… the playground at 1pm in the blazing heat. I think we have all done this, wondering how long they can really swing for (much longer than I think!). Happy Summer!
I read your blog everyday just to see Nella’s smile – so contagious!
Of course I remembered those shoes. Was wondering when they would show up in one of you creative posts!!
Adore, adore the bag! And those saddle shoes are to die for. Where in the world do you find these amazing things?? ๐ Happy summer vacation to you and yours.
Love the saddle shoes, love the new bag, love it all! ๐
I have like 100 of those cute summer bags from Target, and since my husband says the same thing, AND I can never find anything in them, this would definitely be a lifesaver for me!
My June project is to get familiar with the sewing machine because I keep drooling over quilts & want to make some myself. And I l-o-v-e your cute shoes!
Love Nella’s ruffle butt! Too stinkin’ cute!
I just love your pictures and writing! It’s so inspiring!
1) those blue oxford shoes are to DIE for!
2) Nella in her daddy’s arms is so precious. She looks so tiny and angelic.
3) You dress your girls in the cutest clothes ever!
4) Lainey just might be the bravest girl ever! Love that she has no fear.
I love the thermostat quote. One of my very favorite quotes is:
Today is the tomorrow we worried about yesterday ~ and all is well.
Your blog was suggested by a fellow student in my photography class and WOW! I am in love ๐ With that said, I am also getting a LOT less work done and I spent far too much time perusing old posts yesterday and hoping nobody would catch me sniffling in my cube while I read Nella’s birth story.
I love the pictures of Nella walking! My little guy, after getting ear tubes, has enough balance to pull himself up and walk along tables, chairs and his new favorite – the highchair. He has started taking his highchair for walks around the house and it makes us so happy to see this new found freedom and joy on his face. Oh the amazing things our kids teach us about really enjoying life!
My June project is operation “get this house ready for a second baby!!” i.e., paint the dining room even the the color before was perfectly fine, buy bookshelves with at least 5 layers of paint for my husband to sand off so that I can… repaint it and create tons of sensory tubs for my 20 month old. Wait! None of that sounds like baby prep, you say? Hmm…. must just be my insane version of nesting. Either way, check, check and check!
Next up is trying to get a big boy room put together and figure out how to get a certain little someone to sleep in there…
Since I can’t love on your kids to show you how much I appreciate your posts, I just tell you for the millionth time how adorable they are…Thanks for sharing!
I dont have pic to display my summer “challenge” because I shouldn’t be on here anyway…smile!
I am on the fast track to writing my masters thesis this summer so that I can get my license to become a special education supervisor. I have 4 weeks to get it done…that is my challenge while managing to have summer adventures with my 4 boys!
I love seeing the pictures of Nella doing her thing!!! I have a son her same age and he is perfecting the waving and saying “sup” to everyone walking by too!
I love the pictures of Nella pushing her cart! She’s so awesome!
I would love the bag!
Love the bag! What a sweet summer treat that would be.
SO proud of Nella! Can’t wait to see her leading her Rockstars in the Buddy Walk this year.
I have been in search for a new summer bag for quite a while now! Also, I have some great recommendations when you visit St. Augustine {lived there for a year}. Now I’m off to the park with my nephew…hopefully I don’t melt like you did!
I love Nella waving to the neighbors. My Jane does the same thing; people and animals alike. She’s got a lot of skinned knees. ๐
I love that bag!…and your blog!
I am clipping away on some of my decorating projects, the biggest one being my patio. Concrete pressure washed, furniture painted, and new cushions purchased. What is left? to paint concrete and put on finishing touches. (no pictures yet, sorry)
I always enjoy your blog so much. I love that as a blog owner myself, that I can pick and choose the best parts of my day to share and sometimes even the not so great ones just to be real. I find comfort in knowing that when I post on a certain topic, more than likely that someone will have also gone through the same thing.
Wonderful soaking up summer pics! I am braving the heat today to take my kids to the county fair, making memories:)! And I love that bag, thanks for the chance to win it!
cute cute bags…and amazingly beautiful girls!
I’m in lurve with the saddle shoes – ADORABLE! ๐ Go Nella with that walking!
Okay seriously, those little tiny tanned legs pushing around that walker… TOO CUTE!! ๐ Nella is a real doll!
I love this bag… so fun, so cute. I really need a “stick with it bag” Just yesterday our dear picnic bag strap… somehow got stuck in the gate of our truck and there was no way to get it out but to cut it… the bag is now out, but I still can’t open the truck… that darn strap is wound around the gate latch! Love pictures from your world…
Love the saddle shoes!! Hated them when I was a kid, but I would rock those things now! ๐
Just wanted to let you know that I love your blog me and my 2.5 year old Morgan check it every day.She loves to see pictures of Lainey and Nella”she calls them her puter friends”.You have an amazing way with words and are a fantastic photographer.
I adore your blog. Your pictures are precious, your writing is inspirational and the bag is to die for!! ๐
Oh you go Nella, you work those new moves, and don’t listen to Mama saying you have a big head about it! ๐ I’m now reaching an age where I’d kill for some new moves *sigh* LOL
What a perfect way to add some organization to a chaos-laced life…beautiful bag! I just adore the print!! ๐ Maybe it will inspire some new moves on my part? LOOK OUT WORLD! ha ha
I did notice the shoes! I too have lonely long forgotten purses tucked away in strange places that my husband finds, but yet, still buy more to enjoy for a time. Then they join the lonely purse gang…
Your girls always seem so overjoyed to be in the water! What a great thing! We are all blessed to be able to capture a small portion of your life full of love! Thank you for that!
I love watching Nella’s obviouslly proud face behind her push toy:)
My only June challenge is to complete ALL of the laundry before the end of the month, although we’re obviously adding to it day by day. That’s the best I can muster this month. I think I’ll really challenge myself in July:)
Your girls are beautiful! So proud of Nella! Go girl!
Loved your dad’s quote! I may just pass it along.
Love the bag, love the blog!
Love that adorable bag!
I love elisalou’s bags!!! my sis gave me a tiny one last year and it is my fav!! my june challenge is to tackle my sewing/craft space and wrestle it to the ground. Cleaning it up will be so satisfying. Thanks for always reminding me to enjoy the small things! you are so inspiring. have a very happy day!
Heather
I just had to tell you even though I know how busy you are! I did the same june challenge as you, to just get out there and hit the road running. or walk/jogging as in my case! I have done 70.83 MILES since june 1st!!! thank YOU so much~!!!!!!!!!and I have lost 9lbs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
tara
Ella does that thing with waving too–she’s trucking along, barely finding her balance, and then it’s, “Oh, hello!” I must wave at you now!
Been reading your blog for a while now. Thanks for the wisdom and joy you share! I hope it’s OK that I post your dad’s quote on FB – Love it! (I will of course give proper reference to you all)
thanks!
Cute bag! And congrats to Nella’s newfound mobility.
My June challenge is to reclaim the office. To transform it into a space where creativity flows whether that is in the form of writing, sewing a dress, or decoupaging some new artwork.
And that bag… I can already hear it whispering my name.
Can you believe at age 40 that I just started carrying a purse 3 years ago? It’s true. I’m not a girly girl, but that one looks like one I’d enjoy! BTW, my hubby liked it better when I didn’t have a purse … seems neither of us ever quite know where to put it in the car when we’re both there & I’m driving!
Your girls are precious and will grow up knowing the importance of taking advantage of every moment. Thanks for the inspiration, guess I will go for that run this morning. ๐
LOVE those saddle shoes! I noticed them immediately… They’re darling! As always, this was a beautiful post with beautiful pictures of your family!
http://www.wyattzoo.blogspot.com
Each of your blog posts inspires me to go home and take more pictures of my girls. The photos I take in my head fade so quickly, but I love to look back at ones I have snapped with my camera.
Waving to neighbors and drivers on country back rounds = perfect Southern courtesies at their finest ๐
The new bag is amazing!
You are consistently capturing the joy of every day. I love that, I often fail at that.
I find I’m often devouring your words like it can quell my search for some fun in the long and often tedious days at home with three small little ones.
Best part…it’s all infused with fun style! Love the bag, the saddle shoes and the girl’s little name necklaces.
Thank you for all this.
I wish Nella would wave at me. To die for…just adorable.
Forget the bag, I want Lainey’s picture! You always string words together to make such eloquent and meaningful sentiments…very inspiring. And for June activities? Ask next week when jury duty is over. Blecchh.
Love the thermometer/thermostat quote. And love that Nella waves at all the neighbors. Too cute.
I absolutely adore your blog! A friend of mine recommended it to me when I announced my pregnancy (I’m 13 weeks!) and it has brought me so much joy to see your beautiful girls and to read your story.
New reader – so glad I’ve found you. Hoping that bag gets sent my way!
Oh goodness – I went looking at the new etsy shop, and I can’t tell you how many things I picked out that need to come home – SOON! What a great sponser!
We lived in south Florida until I was about 7, and this post about the way too hot playground gave me a total flashback to being small and crawling around in the hot Florida sun on playground equipment too hot to touch, and watching out for the “red ants”, since the black ones were ok. Thanks for the memory! Also, that bag is AWESOME
Love the giveaways for the adults! Great bag.
I am in love with that bag! I am glad I am not the only one who changes bags a lot :0)
I am delurking to finally say…I absolutely loooove your blog!! I look forward to seeing what you have posted pretty much every day! ๐ Your girls are gorgeous!
Love that bag!! So, my June plans are to head up North to visit one of my best friends and roommate from college ๐ So excited!
I want to blog more…capture those everyday moments forever..Love your posts they are so true to heart!
And just what I need…another purse!!! SOOOO pretty xo
I love all the pictures. I look forward to them everyday and I also love the bag!
Go Nella Go! I think she may be the sweetest thing in the whole world…and aaccckk love the saddle shoes!
My goal for June is to find a place for everything in my house and not have stuff (crap) laying around everywhere. I’m also going to start painting furniture, you know, the yellow and gold pieces that I have around the house. Love your blog!
Nella and Lainey are so darn cute!!!
THank you for being so honest and real on your blog. Going through a similar journey with our son as you are with Nella and its great to be able to relate!
I have followed your blog for some time, but recently shared it with a friend who was, at the time, in her 3rd trimester of pregnancy with a baby boy they knew would have Down Syndrome. She said it was wonderful to read your blog and see another family, with a child with DS, living a happy, normal life. Thank you for giving her that comfort! Their little guy is now 2 months old and doing great.
My June challenge has been to find a home for our family to purchase and I think we may have found the perfect house!
Your girls are so adorable!! Great post!
Love your blog- love how you photograph life and the little things that make it great!
My June project is just to get through the school year! We are not done until June 23. I have one graduating high school and one finishing 7th grade. I’m also a middle school teacher.
I can do this!!!
Oh I would love that bag! I love Elizalou!
‘sup Neighbor. That just made me laugh out loud. I was just telling another friend of mine, what an inspiration you are… thanks for being you.
My June challenge is to finish moving!! My new husband and I are combining two houses into one and it has been a chore!!!!
Those bags are adorable!! My fingers are crossed I win!! : )
I love this post. It’s a great reminder to take every moment in with my girls. I also love the purse! ๐
I love this post! I am inspired by your photography but also find myself taking mental snapshots all time. From her fantastic smile to the faces she makes when she thinks no one is looking. I don’t ever want to forget any of her moments, big or small!
I Love Nellas Bloomers!!! <3
Love this! We had the opposite extreme this weekend. We hit the beach despite sub-60 temps (you know what I mean, you are a Michigan girl!)
Watching the kids play, with utter disregard for the damp with cold sand and cool wind reminded me that the weather doesn’t need to dictate our fun ๐
I met Lainey’s doppelgänger yesterday, here in Alberta Canada. She was wearing a skull T-shirt which she proclaimed to be “Badass”.
Speaking of Badass – those shoes fit the bill!
Keep rockin’ Badass Hamptons!
great bag – would love to add that to my collection!
Kelle, I love that just when I’ve idealized your life out to be some fictional perfection… you have me laughing about an ill-timed park visit or a runaway bra underwire. That’s when I think there’s hope for me yet. ๐
I love Nella’s face in the pool…happiness
Love the bags – I’m a bit of a purse hog, myself! I already passed on poppa’s quote to my son who shares stuff like that with me all the time! Love it!
Your picture of Nella reminds me of how my daughter (20 months old) waves to every car when we’re out on a walk. Something to capture.
The products at ElisaLou look fun and functional (exactly what I love).
(totally noticed the shoes : )
I love this post. Your photography and the way you live your life has inspired me to live a better life with my girls. I also just signed up for photography classes so I can better capture all the beautiful moments in their lives.
I would love a new bag, one can never have too many! ๐
Oh, hot days at the park, i know about those! And trying to nurse the 8 week old while sweat is dripping down… goodness! P.S. super cute saddle shoes,I might have to find some to rock with a jean skirt.
I am a new reader of your blog and just so enraptured of your photos and the beauty of your words.
Thank you for sharing, and yes I LOVE the shoes.
I’ve never bothered trying to win one of your giveaways before ~ but I just couldn’t resist this time. A Lainey-drawn picture?? Yes, please count me in! The bag is, I’m sure nice and all, but the picture is what I really want!
Oh, the bubbles. And yes — I hear ya on children not feeling discomfort. ๐ It’s a learning curve for me.
I would love a bag like that. ๐
LOVE that bag! If I don’t win…I guess I’ll have to buy one! Love the saddle shoes too I’m slowing getting up the courage to try pulling them off!
My June (and July and August most likely) goal is to declutter and purge! I got 2 boxes and 2 garbage bags out of the house just yesterday and I must say I am feeling more and more liberated the more I get rid of! I got rid of shoes that I have only worn a couple of times and don’t plan to again (but kept them “just in case”), some clothing I have kept around for when I lose the baby weight (I have until Oct to fit into my old jeans-personal goal-I give myself a year after each baby and with this one being my 3rd I need the yr!) but I know I won’t wear them all and I should get a few new things and not just have my old ones & some clothing I was going to recycled into cool upcycled stuff for the kids-I decided to just keep what I really liked and had something in mind for so I got rid of half of it! Seriously, it feels awesome every time I fill a bag or box and send it on it’s way. Less to clean up and sometimes getting rid of old things (not cherished really, just had it for a long time) can be emotionally lifting as well:)
Your girls are darling!
Cute bag!
the best memories are the unaltered ones tucked away in little brain cabinets that flash past your eyes unexpectedly when you’re not looking for them.
love those shoes! love love love the bag!
-from a grown up lainey!
Saddle shoes…Oh, I love all of this, as always. LOVE the quote about the thermostat! Let’s all be thermostats..Great bag!! Love you, from the Blog Mama ~
Gorgeous, I LOVE YOUR KIDS. Hugs and Kisses! Come visit us in Brooklyn! Your girls can play in our PINKALICIOUS room anytime!
There are so many times when I stop and try so hard to take a mental photo. I never want to lose them!
Loving the bag – you can never have too many purses!
I take at least 10 pictures of my six month old every day. I just can’t get enough of that gummy little smile and those chubby thighs!!
P.S. TO Elana: I LOVE that, about the brain cabinets. YES! As I always say, the snapshots in our minds that we carry with us..

Love the bag,
Love your blog,
Love life.
gosh, i don’t really understand how to use this. ha. i think i’ve posted three times, slightly different words. alas, i’ll try one last time.
best to leave your memories tucked away into your brain cabinets & wait for the moment they’ll flash past your eyes unexpectedly.
have had my eye on those lovely shoes for a while…
& love that bag!
-from a grown up lainey!
If this post was facebook statuses, I would have “liked” every paragraph.
I take pictures in my mind, with my heart, too. Because sometimes fidning the camera or the click of the shutter spoils the moment.
Thank you for sharing your mama’s heart. I see a part of my own mama in heart every post.
My June project is running…and I’ve been keeping with it!
I really was wondering when you’d get around to writing about the saddle shoes.
SOLD on the bagandkiddrawing combo!
Girl. I’m in love with your shoes as well. Glad you brought them up and forced two pictures ๐
love Nella taking a break to wave from the driveway. also love how high Lainey climbed, holy moly!
You always inspire me to take MORE photos ๐
Great post! Love Nella’s go girl spirit! It will stand her in good stead!!
Love the purse! I’m like that too with purses. Its and even bigger bonus to find one that’s as functional as it is cute!
My June project is the same as my summer goal–read at least 2-3 books a week. So far, so good. ๐
Always a pleasure to read. I want to comment on Nella “riding” the dog. My two year old has started to do this to our larger dog and HE LETS HER! He will just look back at her and lay his head back down. One day I can see him stand up and go and she will just freak.
Love to see the pictures of Nella with her push cart!
Oh my! That is the only thing that I can say amidst my weepy eyes and choked up throat. I was just introduced to your blog by a a friend and have been reading it non-stop while my babies are napping. You are truly gifted! I look forward to a long relationship with your beautful life through the blog from afar! Cheers!
Consider this a virtual hug to you and your beautiful girls – for Nella’s brazen I-can-walk-and-wave attitude, Lainey’s pictures, fish-like, in the pool and your fabulous new shoes. ROCK ON with your bad self! Blessings to you all!
– Kristin
I heart Elisalou bags! My fav ๐ Love your blog – it’s my go to place when I’m feeling blue, or down or happy and just want another reminder to live life and cherish the moments! Thank you!
Love your pops’ quote, love your two beauties and the saddle shoes? LOVE THE SADDLE SHOES!
Um LOVE the shoes!!! When I was little I had a pair and I LOVED the heck out of them!
I love you’re post and your pictures is gorgeous! You inspire me Kelle! (:
I love the picture of Nella waving. ๐
Kelle, I’m still working on my summer ‘To Do” list. I started one last week when I was feeling blah and it instantly lifted my mood. Thanks for all the inspiring ideas and for keeping me “fun!” ; )
Ooh, I’d love to win just for Lainey’s picture! It could grace the fridge along with the many, many drawn by my 4 ๐ And the purse is super cute as well!
One of my only regrets of mommyhood was not getting that old 35mm camera out more often. My kids are 22 and 20 and I take more pictures of them now than I ever did when they were little. And the pictures I did take then…in lots of pretty picture boxes but not well organized. My goal is to get them on the computer and enjoy them as much as our current pictures!
LOVE the boho bag!
I have been reading your blog since nella’s birth and I LOVE it! Always so positive and up-beat.
That bag is gorgeous, and your shoes are awesome too!
Happy day!
Love the purse…and the pictures…always the pictures ๐
Love the bag…those colors are so my summer palate with a hint of purple.
I am doubled over laughing about your purse description. I can relate. I once forgot about a bra I had shoved in at the pool, until I pulled it out at the grocery store.
super cute bags…here I go wasting however long perusing the etsy shop ๐
Nella rocks that walker like the rockstar she is! So proud!
Love the shoes! And Nella waving….such a cutiempie!
I just love your blog and seeing your cute kiddies. I have several Elisalou bags. Love each one of them and I get a ton of compliments
Nella walking and waving, I die! Literally the cutest thing I’ve ever seen. I love the way you talk about photographing everything, or not, too. ๐ You’re so right!
i have to say that your blog is the only one that has music that i actually enjoy. it all complements your words so beautifully.
I call those mommy moments my “mental pictures.” The ones that I freeze frame and store safely inside the “Never Forget” file cabinet in my brain.
My June Challenge is to find myself again- not who I am as a mom or wife, daighter or sister, but who I am without all those titles. ๐
Nella waiving to the neighbors while wearing the most precious outfit known to man = amazing. love her! and the shot of Lainey in the necklace … she looks like she’s 8! both girls are so gorgeous!
I love saddle shoes now, but I hated them so much when I was a little girl. My mom gets a kick out of how much I want a pair now! Loved the post.
You inspire me to take more pictures of my kids. We have about 2 billion of my first son, and nowhere near that of my second. I guess we’ve spent more time enjoying him and less time documenting — but I know I’ll regret that if I don’t get busy taking pictures already!
My husband says the same thing about all of my bags! My June challenge is to be active, not necessarily work out or shed the pounds, but just be healthy. I have rode my bike to breakfast and actually got in the pool for some laps and volleyball instead of laying out so far!
Love the purse! And I must say that your posts never fail to put a smile on my face! =)
I only recently discovered your blog and I absolutely love it! Your photography is beautiful as is your family. You’ve inspired me to take more photos to remind myself of what really matters! Thank you.
You’re writing just makes me so very happy. And I love, love, love those shoes, and would love to have a cute bag, because I do that switcheroo on bags too, and oh the pen/tampon-Ah, so embarassing.
Ha ha ha! Loving your new header. The girls look tough, like they’re from the hood!
Nella and her cart make me smile too. In fact, just plain thanks for putting this goofy grin on my face, I’m ready to tear into my errands now!
Lainey is so beautiful. Her eyes captivate me!
YAY for Nella and her new crusing abilities! Watch out-that girl will be running all over the place so very soon.
Your oxfords are adorable. I love them so much!
And darn you! I always find stuff to buy when you have a new sponsor. ๐
Cute bag! Cute girls! I am loving the pigtails and swimming pictures! Summer is wonderful!
Love the bag and the picture of Nella waving to the neighbors. I want to embrace my inner thermostat for the rest of June and enjoy being in the moment wherever I may be. I have many June challenges, but I will round out June with that focus!
Love the new purse. And I get so excited when I see pics of Nella standing. : ) Like seeing my baby girl take her first steps all over again.
What a feel-good post! I love Nella’s “s’up, neighbor”! My 14 mo. old waves at random people in the grocery store. If they don’t notice, it’s all I can do to not say, “Hey, this precious girl is waving at you. Say hi!” I love the small things our children teach us like enjoy life rain or shine, hot or cold!
p.s. The saddle shoes are great!!
Great great post and awesome purse. Would love a Lainey picture:)
happy father’s day to brett! can’t wait to get my new bag…but more importantly a little creativity from lainey! ๐
Really enjoyed the thermostat / thermometer quote…your Dad is a wise man!
Okay- the boho bag is amazing. But a picture from Lainey…now that’s priceless!
I want to learn to take great pictures! Like yours. Love the bags too.
i swear you out do your self after each post ๐
love your blog and seeing pictures of your sweet girls!
super cute bag,btw.
The saddle shoes and the ruffly bottoms! Oh, swoon! With my fourth boy on the way and no girls appearing on my horizon, I enjoy getting a girly fix with your blog. I would love that bag, but not quite as much as I would love a Lainey Love original!! ๐
I already copied the Thermostat quote and it’s “post-it-ed” on my printer so i can see it every day.
I love Dad quotes.
I love pictures.
I have no June challenge – just getting through each day with my 3 kiddos has been challenge enough for me lately! Although . . . I have already picked my July challenge. My goal is that by the end of July the main level in our house will no longer be the disaster area that it currently is. We’ll be able to host company (okay, parents and MIL) at random times and without the current 2 week notice needed.
Another great post! I just started a blog and now am addicted! How can someone not enjoy flaunting the cuteness of their children?? ๐
I just love your blog, thanks for reminding me to enjoy all the little good things in life every day. I’m not a mom yet, but when I am someday, I hope to be as fabulous as you!
xo
Erin
ps – love the saddle shoes!

I always dig your blog, but man, today I am diggin’ that bag! Randomizer, pretty please, pick me, pick me!
I have no “assigned” June challenge, but I have renewed in me a challenge to trust my husband more. Not that he is not great, he is; but my type A personality sometimes makes me believe that his traits (i.e. snoring, ignoring the dishes on the counter, drinking all but 1 drop of milk, you know “man” things) he does to purposefully annoy me. In fact, he is just him, and I am trying to trust that he isn’t trying to set off Type A Kate. Here’s to trying!
My june challenege is to run the stadium at the university at least once a week. Hello sexy legs!
I am diggin’ that bag!
My June challenge was to FINALLY plant a garden…my first one ever. Don’t get me wrong – I’ve planted flowers before and usually killed them with my black thumb, but I was bound and determined to plant something that would actually grow and feed my family. So I went out in my yard on Sunday morning and tilled the soil (all this after reading The Good Earth by Pearl S. Buck and thinking about how awesome soil and what it can give to us is!) and got three rows of veggies planted. Two rows of seeds and one row of living plants. Well, the dog proceeded to eat the living plants the next day! Awwww – good intentions and all that stuff, right? ๐ Oh well – I’ll go back out again this weekend and do it all again, and a little bit more. I still have several weekends left in June and hopefully in July I will be able to say that I have sprouts well on their way to becoming veggies!
Oh and yes – LOVE the saddle shoes!!!!! I want some of those!
Wonderful post, Kelle. Beautiful pictures…and, yes, I love your shoes, but I don’t think I could ever pull them off! I’m sure you look great in them, tho!:)
I also love those bags! Great birthday present for my best friend!
LOVE it! You are an amazing writer and photographer- LOVE how you can capture those moments with your girls!
I totes know what you mean about the mental photos–do it all the time! There are too many sweet moments to capture sometimes, which is partly why I love blogging so I can at least capture a few . . .
Dude, love that bag!
And your girls are crazy gorgeous.
what a cute bag and i noticed the saddle shoes before i even got to the end!
I love ur blog and look everyday to see if you’ve posted! I wish I can take as many photos as you do! I have a cheap digital camera that still has pictures in it from 2 years ago!!!
I haven’t challenged myself yet…but if I decided to do a 1/2 month challenge it would be to sleep more. Sort of hard to do with two kids
BUT, I love the shoes!
Love the bag!! But honestly, would love the special picture colored by Ms. Lainey Love herself. Happy Weekend!
Love the photo of Nella riding the dog–I used to ride my dog too!
Awesome bag, but I’m in it for Lainey’s picture. Tell her to autograph it, cuz that girl is famous in my book!
Love your post and so glad that I’m not the only one feeling the same way as I battle the 100 degree heat and forcing myself to enjoy the small moments even when they’re brutually hot and miserable in the summer.
Summer is here! And I couldn’t be happier. The bag is exactly what I’m looking for to stash my summer needs- sun-tan lotion, goggles, wallet, baseball ticket, and an extra pair of flipflops. ๐
Look at Nella go!!!!!! Zach learned to walk with one of those too. Our kids sure are amazing.
Thanks for the reminder that not all memories need to be made through pictures…one of my most treasured memories is when my oldest boy (4 yrs. old) told me he “loved me” while I was tucking him in at night. It was the first time that he voluntarily spoke those words with such emotion….I was moved to tears. The beauty of the moment far exceeds anything!
I always enjoy reading your insights and seeing the pictures of your beautiful family! You inspire me to be a better and more thoughtful parent.
You have inspired me. Today is my 33rd birthday. (I think I might have to buy one of those cute bags as a “happy birthday to myself” gift!) I have decided to do a year of challenges, kind of my own personal “new year” resolution. I want to make a new challenge for myself each month from the 16th to the 15th of the next month. This month’s personal challenge is take the time for myself to get a walk in each day and spend 1/2 an hour each day reading to my boys. I love reading your blog. Thank you for opening your home and sharing your family with us. They are all so beautiful.
You will love having so many bags when the girls are older. My stepdaughter loves going into the closet to pick a bag that matches her outfit or mood that day. And it makes me smile thinking of everywhere that bag has been… and how much it has seen. I love your blog…it makes my workday.
I cant tell you how much i love this blog..your children, your sense of style, your sharing…everything! you are a ray of sunshine!

I take a lot of pictures too, but sometimes I have to remember to put the camera down, and jump into the action with my kids. I don’t think I’ll need pictures to remember those moments!! Sometimes, though, I wish I had someone invisible to follow my children and I around and get good pictures…with Momma in them! :o)
Love the pics of Nella with her walker. Where did you get the name necklaces? TIA
Love your blog and love the bag!
I have the same problem….I love bags and they are all over the place!!!
Happy Summer!
such a great post! my summer has been shaping up to be something spectacular! already went boating, to an amusement park, and a cirque de soleil!!
happy summering, kelle!
You put into words so eloquently (sp?) exactly what I am thinking! My boys are similar in ages to the girls and I love to hear/see what new things they are learning/doing…just wish it would all last a little longer!
I am still working on my June Challenege and its going wonderfully! I would love to win that purse to go with my collection. A girl can never have too many purses– it’s not possible ๐
Love your shoes! Love your pictures.
I am LOVING all your Warm Weather pictures of your girl’s enjoying the SUN!! Went out for my Run this morning and it was 39 degrees!! NOT OK for June, yes I live in the PNW but still NOT COOL!! So enjoy the sun for me and keep on posting, love your inspirational post and Love that you are racking up miles for Lilly.(They are good friends of my cousin, and used to live where we are living now!!)

Argh, my June goal. To finish the doll I started for my daughter. No, I haven’t been able to work on it. But I WILL. I swear it.
OK WTF? I check last night, no update. Today, an update with over 500 comments! Jeeze Louise! So I am doing the challenge today. We’re going camping WITH 2 littles. Both in diapers. One crawling. The maiden voyage. Hoping for the best, knowing either way is a celebration of memories! Photos to come….
You remind me of myself with your trip at the park without planification… It’s nice to see I’m not alone doing things like this! ๐
You have a lot of great sponsors, I like to see what they sell, it’s always fun and original!
Those shoes are fabulous!!
Those bags are fantastic!!
My June project is to finish crocheting baby blankets for me best friends twin girls about to be born anytime! guess I better get offline and get to work!
Oh and looove the saddle shoes! Funny because I remember hating when I had to wear them for years in Catholic school!
Ooooops..I meant MY best friends!
We have one of those things Lainey is climbing on at our park. Ours just happens to be a water park, which we took our boys to Monday. And just so happens we discovered today my almost 4 yr old has strep throat, which we are pretty sure he got from the water park. Fun.
Ok… where did ya get the fab saddle shoes?? LOVE THEM!
*hanging head in shame* I didn’t make a June Challenge.
BUT, I do love those saddle shoes:)
okay i kinda love that bag…may have to jump on this one. that pic of nella with her cart and then the next with her arm out just cracked me up!
Nella in the box is so adorable! Love that shot. ๐
I’m swooning for that Boho bag!
I love that Nella waves at teh neighbors. What a doll!
Love the shoes! The bag is cute – I too have many bags and switch which one I use depending on the outing it drives my husband nuts.
I noticed those shoes. In the first picture I thought they were Lainey’s. But I fell in love with the right away. So cute!
My June Challenge is going pretty well. It was to redecorate my room. Which I have successfully started listing all of the furniture on Craig’s list. Now to hurry up with getting the new stuff. I have vistior’s coming June 28th. My goal is that they won’t be sleeping on a mattras on the floor. My goal. Ha ha we will see…
I love Nella’s wave- too cute! And that bag would come in SO handy for our busy summer!
I have fallen in love with your blog so much! Im a rising sophomore at NCSU and your photographs are beautiful… I am a neighborhood swim team coach and have the pleasure of teaching 5 year old Mia, who has also been blessed with an extra chromosome. I love seeing her reach and pull the water a little more each day or kick a little harder! Because of your family now i see DS as a gift and it show in how Mia is always in my shadow! ๐
I love that first picture of Nella! What a happy girl! Big empty boxes always seem to provide smiles and giggles over here too!
Random question…what is the cover/roof-thing over your pool? Screen? I’ve seen many pictures of your pool and I’ve always wondered.
Have a great day!
I’m loving the shoes…yes, I noticed them right away!! and your girls are so sweet together. Glad they’re enjoying summer!
That purse is adorable! But I would rather have the Lainey art on my fridge, because she is just cuter than words and children’s art is the best! (We have finger-painted canvases from my daughter all over the house!)
I have always loved saddle shoes. Those are so cute and unique!
I am in love with the picture of Nella pushing her little toy on the driveway and then waving. Ah..make me melt!
The bag is precious.
Inspirational as always.
Here’s to hitting the beach and jumping in the pool! Oh happy days. I love life.
My toddler and I check your blog first thing in the morning, every morning. I do it because it inspires me. My girl likes to check it so she can see “THE BABIES.” She gets so excited.
My June challenge is learning to shoot in manual. Every single day. There is nothing like a crash course in camera operating.
loved the sup neighbor comment… your girls are adorable!! ๐
I love the bag!! I am currently on a mission to find a diaper bag that’s not really a diaper bag for my new baby girl due July 13th!! That one would be perfect!!
Love it all!

All girl’s have their vices, right? Mine is purses. Gotta love ’em, the more the merrier. LOVE love love this bag!
I love the feet pics, seeing little feet with bigger ones. So cute!
As always, wonderful pictures, your daughters are adorable.
turning 30 tomorrow and would LOVE a new bag…maybe it will make me finally feel grown up?
Like you, Kelle, my June challenge was running each day and doggoneit! I’ve done it!I feel so much better. I feel the best, though when you post photos of your littles, especially with chubby legs in cute tights. Happy summer!
love the bag. I also love summer thunderstorms. we are having one right now
loved the forced shots, you totally pulled it off..and who wouldn’t in such cute shoes?
the bag is totally rockin’ too, and I just happen to need one (hint, hint)
I love seeing the accomplishments of your beautiful daughter Nella. My brother was born in 1968, with Down’s Syndrome. He was given a year to live, but with the love of my mom, he celebrated 4 birthdays with us. Sharing your quote from your dad, is just fitting with Father’s Day being on Sunday. Loved it and had to share it with my friends. God Bless!
I love your shoes, too! And these bags are totally delicious.
I want an original Lainey Love drawing!
My JuneJulyAugust challenge is to run two miles at least 4 times a week. I have a pretty spectacular husband-to-be I want to look amazing for on August 20th ๐
P.S. – We have have a Scentsy warmer in our house, Blueberry Cheesecake is by far our favorite scent!
I love that I am not the only mama that goes unprepared sometimes! It never fails that I leave something important at home when are on an outing! haha
Oh my! LOVE THAT BAG! But I bet I would like Lainey’s picture even more!:)
Great post as usual!
Love,
Angela
LOVE that bag! I will show you my June project soon. I’ve been working on it. ๐
Hope the running is going well. That is what I do for my mental break and alone time. It’s pretty fantastic! ๐
my june project is to not give up on graduating. one step at a time, i’m getting there.
I just love nellas smile and that lovely dreamy look of lainey. your girls are beyond words!
Moments – so many moments. I came home today to my 180 page memory book! Yay for remember to blog and write – I can now look back at all of the many moments of the past year!
ok so your blog is a new obsession for me! Love everything about it… Thank you for sharing your life with ALL of us…
I look forward to reading your blog and seeing your life through your lens. You are such a talented woman, and a blessed Mom. ….and could your kids be any more adorable??
I agree, you should write a book someday. You have an amazing gift.
Thanks!
this post helped me to get back on track with posting on my blog. I get behind and feel like I need to catch up on “old” events. really? I’m not going to stress about it so much anymore! thanks for bringing that into perspective.
p.s. LOVE the bag ๐
So the saddle shoes just took me back to my sister, brother, and me dressed in matching outfits getting our picture made at Sears circa 1988…On our dangling feet – navy/white saddle oxfords! Love it!
My June challenge is to take more walks at dusk, and to finally frame and hang the stack of wedding photos that I walk by every day.
Love the bag and your shoes are amazing. Reminds me of my pair of saddle shoes when I was like 6. Might have to find a pair for me and my girls to all wear. Oh, and I love your dad’s thermometer/thermostat comment. I’ll have to remember that during those times I get a little *heated*!
I had saddles shoes when I was a wee lad! Very cute, adorable, and every other gushy mushy word I can think of! :o)
Inspiring, as always!
Oh my gosh, I love it! my Gianna is just about the same age as Nella and is always waving and (yelling) “hi” to anyone in our path. It cracks me up!
The photo of Nella in the box is too cute. Would you mind wrapping it up and sending her here? ๐
I need a new bag to dig around in!
Love love love Nella’s ruffled bloomers! <3 Soo stinking cute!
Sooooo inspiring! I’m so excited for Nella! She’ll be walking in no time! I have to ask, how many hours of therapy does she get each week? Is it private therapy or early intervention? Just curious… I have a 15 month old little girl and I’m excitingly waiting for those milestones to come! BTW, I love all your sponsors and I must say, they sell me just about every time!
Yes, I’m a little obsessed with the saddle shoes ๐
Let me start by saying that our cousin had Maylee almost 2 years ago. She was born with Down Syndrome and that rocked our whole world. She forwarded your blog after Nella’s birth story. WOW! You have been such a great inspiration not only to me but for many people in our family. Thanks for sharing your life with us. May God continue to bless your family. We truly believe that Maylee was a true gift from God. Thanks

I came across your blog a couple of months ago and was so inspired I had to go back and start with the 2007 posts, I just caught up to your most recent post on June 12. I was waiting with anticipation for your next post. You never disappoint with your words and pictures. I love it!
LOVE all your posts!!!! and LOVE that new purse, you can NEVER have too many ๐ ๐
For the last 3 days in a row, I’ve said to someone, “I wish I had a camera in my head and with a blink of my eyes, take pictures of the things NO ONE else can see but me.” Like the way Nora places her teeny tiny pointer finger purposely on my thumb nail when she’s nursing. every.single.time.
I used to be a “choose one bag and stick with it” kind of gal. One period in my life, I used the same brown leather purse (brace yourself)….for 7 years!!! But not anymore! I love all the pretty colors and designs (but I still have my brown leather ๐
Thanks for keeping us accountable for our June challenges….love the reminders! Can’t wait to post. Do we post just one picture? It’s gonna be hard to choose!
Blessings,
Kelly
Holy awesome shoes!! WOW!
My June challenge? Go to the pool as often as possible with my two little fishies.
This is ecaxtly what I do, even when I don’t have my camera, I always hear an imaginary shutter “CLICK” during those moments I want to preserve.
Gotta send a link to this post to my 32 year niece, Jenny Marie! I ADORE the saddle shoes and she wore them to church on many a Sunday! Can you share WHERE you got them?
Not much luck with my June Challenge! But, I DO think about it everyday! I’m still gonna upload my photo! Hugs ~ Jo
Lord knows I need a stick with it bag! Constantly looking for the “perfect” bag ๐ But wait, a picture from Lainey too! Well thats the best part!! Oh, and i recently came across a website u might like (if you dont already know about it) From one mail lover to another: http://www.fairivy.com
And as always, Enjoyed the post!
I pray one day we get the warmth you have so we can enjoy our summer! I love Nella’s bum ruffle bottom. I searched for them when I had my little lady, no dice.
LOVE Elisalou! My stick-with-it bag is by her, too ๐
I came across your blog a couple of months ago and was so inspired I had to go back and start with the 2007 posts, I just caught up to your most recent post on June 12. I was waiting with anticipation for your next post. You never disappoint with your words and pictures. I love it!
as always, your girls are too cute for words! I enjoy reading your blog and seeing your pictures. Brightens my day every time!
Stick to one bag? Im sure my husband would appreciate that if I could….but what fun would that be? There can never be just one bag for this girl!!
I love your dad’s quote. I’m saving it for reference and using it.
My June project is to stress less! We’ve been through a whirlwind of change and taken on big responsibilities this month and I WILL NOT let it bring me down. I will keep on track, enjoy the sun and relax. This too shall pass ๐
Beautiful post. I started reading your blog a couple of months ago and I love it. I love how you celebrate life and especially for me is Nella. I too have a 10 year old son with special needs and I have walked that dark road in the beginning that you did and found the light that is within my son, that helps me to make it through the hard times.
I would love to win this bag because I am always on the lookout for awesome bags. All of my friends that have older kids can just jump in the car and head out to do fun things. Our family is not as easy, it takes a lot of planning and always a bag. I have a lot of diapers and supplies to carry for a 10 and 2 year old. Luckily my other ten year old can finally carry his own stuff ๐
Saddle shoes remind me of some of the very best parts of my childhood. Good choice :]
thank you for thinking of things to blog about each week and for posting pictures and sharing your thoughts. your words and images always manage to bring a smile to my face! now, with the hormones of being 9 months pregnant, I also cry a lot too, but find it to be quite therapeutic!
thank you for being you!
I love the shoes. So right up my alley. The bag looks awesome. It has such a fun vintage feel.
As for a June challenge. I am just trying to stay sane. It has been difficult with my 3 boys at home all day and either rain or heat (makes planning very difficult) oh yeah, can’t forget all those baseball games we have to go to ๐
you pictures inspire me to get my camera out more and not just for special occasions!
Love your blog and love the bag. And do tell, where did you get the saddle shoes?
girl, i LOVE those saddle shoes!
stay cool in that heat, momma!
I so don’t take enough picture. Thanks for inspiring me to do so! And I love that bag!!
I’m with you on taking pictures often, but more often seeing the pictures in my mind during moments of the day with my family. As always, love your words and pictures. Thank you for sharing with us.
I swear I was sweating just watching Lainy play at the park, it is so hot out there! Enjoying your summer girls and days. Thanks for always sharing.
Seriously in love with the saddle shoes.
Awesome pictures, they are so inspiring!
Those girls put a smile on my face.
Happy days!
Thank you for sharing your life with us! You’ve shown me that happiness is only what you make of it! hugs!
See, the best part about your blog is without question, on a no-good, very-bad, terrible day I can click to it, marinate in the feel-good tunes and read words that always help me see the good. Plus, it always, always takes me back to my childhood with my baby sister.
So, thank you, as always, for the bright lining around the grey cloud that tried to consume my day. Once again, it didn’t win! Score another for relishing the little things ๐
I told my boyfriend if he got me a Kate Spade purse, I’d stick with it. He did so I’m sticking…with both him and the purse ๐
That little push cart is great, isn’t it? And they really do depend on it at first. My nephew finally started pushing and pulling for the fun of it after he didn’t really need it anymore! LOL Another wonderful post!
I LOVE YOUR SHOES!!!!!!! and i love this blog!!!! so much! just ran across it last week and i can’t get away from it! u inspire me! your girls are beautiful! much love!
I love those shoes! And the adorable photos of Nella pushing that cart, she is so sweet.
Nella is growing up so fast! She’s beautiful!
Thanks Kelle!! I’m so excited! I’m emailing you now.
Saddle oxfords bring back horrible memories of my varsity cheerleading days in high school. We HAD to wear saddle oxfords. I’m tall with a big foot. No where could I find a size 10 saddle oxford. (Just think if I had to find them now in a 12.) We finally stalked some down, then the next year they went to tennis shoes. Arg.
How about I love this bag? I definitely need a stick with it bag. And it’d look great on my shoulder every day when I show up to my new job I started monday! I’m thinking I need to save part of my first paycheck for one of these.
LOVE the purse! As always your kids are simply beautiful. ๐
Confession: I am commenting because I want a drawing from Lainey. The bag is cute, but not the real prize ๐
I just got a new diaper bag but would love a bag JUST FOR ME!! Love it!
Love the bag. Love your blog. Keep on.
Can I just say, I had the same kind of park experience two days ago? I too forgot extra water for the sippy cup that was consumed on the way and wore black yoga pants in the sweltering 100 degree Texas heat. Thank you for reminding me I’m just like every other mom and we all have “those” days and moments. And that no matter what the outcome, we are power houses because we did it for our kids.
I’m jealous of the hot weather you have. I’m on the coast in California and we are in the midst of June Gloom, but my skin is craving the warmth of the sun!
I’m in love with that bag. I would love to win it for my momma. She would die. It is totally her style. June is a busy month for me since I’m planning my girls 1st birthday party (for 120people ugh!)
The peeing in the snowsuits made me laugh out loud! Loved Nella’s neighbor wave! What a sweetie pie! Your girls are just so precious!
Hugs!
i LOVE your pictures. always. someday, i will take picture of my kids like you do yours. i hope. maybe. if i ever find a guy.
LOVE the photo of Nella waving – too cute!
I love the picture of Nella waving to the neighbour…awesome shot!
Love the shoes….and the bag. The picture of the shoes completely brought back a memory of my childhood. I had saddle shoes…brown ones….that I loved. I had forgotten that treasure until now….thank you.
I just LOVE the photo of Nella’s ruffled bottom behind the pushcart. My mom used to dress me in those adorable butt ruffles when I was that age and now I can understand why. No one can make butt ruffles look as fabulous as a little girl tiptoeing through her new footsteps can.
My June project was/is to reorganize every closet in our home. Our third baby is due in August, so I have a strong motivational force for getting it done this month. I want to be able to know exactly what is on each shelf…and I really want to get rid of or donate everything last thing that we won’t use again. So far, I have managed to clean out both of my little girls’ closets and my sewing/fabric closet. Now I have the much less fun ones to go…hall closet, coat closet, pantry and our closet (the one I dread the most!).
I love your blog! Your girls are adorable!
My goal for June is to take more pictures. I went out and bought Mammaratzi after you suggested it and I am inspired!
Kim
that bag is FAB!!!! only something you would be giving away would prompt me to say the word ‘fab’ ;P
Lately I feel like I have been project~ing myself to death. I think I am trying to deny the fact that my baby will be three in two weeks. So for the rest of this month and next {when I will turn the big 3-0. I am having no projects. I am going to ho and hum my way through the rest of the summer and just enjoy. Life as as an almost thirty year old who has an almost three year old.
If I am too hot or too cold at the park I tend to do the “Are you ready to go home yet?” which is of course always followed with “no!?” So I remind myself, what am I in a hurry for?? Enjoy it, stay in the moment, (drowning in your own sweat or not) LOL
My June (July, August, September…) challenge is coming along nicely. I’m three weeks in to my first half-marathon training! (Any other Disney Wine and Dine runners here??)
I love how Nella is chugging along! Get it Girl!
Love your shoes!!!!
and I think I may have to remember that quote your daddy gave you! I love it!
Cute bag!! Love it, and love your “be a thermostat, not thermometer” quote!
-Abby Ammons
I’m absolutely loving this blog. My friend recommended it and I feel very inspired by the way that you live life to the fullest simply by enjoying everyday activities. Our lives are very different (I’m a 22 year old college grad who lives with her boyfriend of 4 years) but I still have changed my way of thinking because of your blog. Thank you!
(I’m also a lifeguard and have been running summer camps and taking tons of pictures because I’m also inspired by your photography ๐
I need to start taking more mental photos…sometimes I’m too concerned over getting an actual photo and I miss the whole moment!
I’m loving the first bit of the post….many moments can be captured on film but there’s nothing like those priceless non-picture moments captured in your memories forever!
I love the saddle shoes!! You are so cute. Thanks for the blog! I am a purse-aholic too and would love to win that boho bag. I am currently crossing all possible appendages ๐
I love learning from my girls too! I was just thinking about that today!
Took all 3 girls to a splash pad after gymnastics only to realize that I had forgotten our swim suits.
Went home, got the suits and got lost trying to find another splash pad. One of the twins got car sick and it was not pretty.
In the end, I was the only one who couldn’t get over it. They were so quick to forgive and forget. Love them!
I wish I took pictures like you! Just beautiful!
The one thing I love the most about my mom was the fact that even though she irritated me by always taking pictures i love the fact that there is so much documented now. I have spent days and weeks scanning photos and slides so I can relive those moments. (I now take the camera everywhere too ๐ )
Haha! I noticed the saddle shoes right away. Adorable but not as adorable as Nella waving to the neighbors.
Love that bag! ๐
Saddle shoes take me back to my own childhood. Darling.
My challenge isn’t new with June but just continues- to fall in love with running again ๐ I’m training for a marathon in October so each week is another few miles added to a big goal! And its working!
Love the bags!! I SOOOOO need a new bag for summer… even if my husband disagrees!
Love your post, great as always! Love the picture of Nella waving…too cute!
Lovin the bag and always lovin your constant inspiration
I could be having the WORST day ever and your blog and words and pictures make it so much better! please come to colorado and my twin girls can play with your girls ๐ oh and that bag…uh to die for!!! i want it so bad ๐
oh and i noticed you got some scentsy….LOVE IT!!!
Lainey in the goggles (or boggles, as my son calls them) cracked me up. Love babies in goggles. =)
Sometimes memories are way more important than running to grab the camera – that is something I have definitely learned this year! You just have to resist and stay in the moment. No pictures for my June challenge… I’m just trying to wind down from another successful school year!
That bag is awesome. This mama needs a new bag. Bag bag bag bag for me!
That picture of Nella waving at your neighbors is adorable!
Lovin the bagf
Oh my gosh!!!! You totally reminded me of something that happened in high school!!!! I was walking down the hall with the boy I liked, and he asked me if I had any white out. I had just gotten a white out pen, and so I said “Sure!”, happy to help him. I reach in my back pack and pull out…….an unwrapped tampon!!!!! HA!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh my gosh, Nella’s neighbor wave is the best! ๐
I’m in love with the shoes! Awesome!
My June project….beating my sister in a weight loss competition so she can watch my kids while hubby and I can have a date night! However, it’s turned into getting healthy and fit- mentally, physically and emotionally. So really, we’ll both win. ๐ I wish I could take a picture of the two of us in our competitive mode…I will try tomorow and share.
Reading this blog is one of the highlights of my day! Love the bag!
Can I tell you how much I LOVE that bag?? I have only been using a diaper bag for the last almost 5 years!! Time flies when the babies keep coming:) Love the saddle shoes too. I might have to go on an adventure to find me some!
Laura
I wanted to let you know that your blog is a finalist for our “Best Blogs for Deliberate Mothers” contest at The Power of Moms. Congratulations! We just opened the voting and we’ve got some exciting prizes for the top three blogs. Check it out here: http://powerofmoms.com/blog-voting/
my june project is to be better, be a better mom…. house keeper….. spouse…. aunt…. daughter. and i am slow and steadily working on it.
ps loving those shoes, they would look great under my wedding dress, thinking my something blue
Inspiring! “As my dad always told me, don’t be a thermometer, be a thermostat. Thermometers only measure the temperature around them. Thermostats change it.” Love this!
my june challenge is to survive it! 5 years ago next week my husband was diagnosed with Acute Mylogenous Leukemia – he underwent a bone marrow transplant and is still with us, surviving. So many times we focus on what we don’t have… i like to focus on what i do have – my husband. 5 years later and it’s a challenge every day ๐
LOVE those tan baby legs! So cute!
It’s amazing to keep some of those moments for yourself… I think with our overconnected lives, sometimes we get caught up in sharing everything, that we forget… some things should be just for our family!
Love this post – especially seeing Miss Nella rocking her cart!
Love the bag!
I love your shoes; I’m glad you made sure we noticed ๐
My summer challenge is to change my backyard into our own vacation retreat. Since we can’t afford to go anywhere we can make our yard like we’ve been somewhere.
We’re adopting, so I am working on our nursery…it’s getting there!

Inspirational…that is you…to me…fellow mama…hope your weekend is fabulous…mine will be filled with memory clicks and hopefully a few tangible clicks…
Happy summer to you and yours… It is wonderful how your pictures continue to capture the essence of this summer season and the joy children bring to our lives (at all times of the year). Your blog always helps me remember to savor those special moments that happen each day when I am with my children. Thank you for your inspiring words and images – together they make the perfect combination!
STONKING shoes!
I absolutely love that Nella always seems to be smiling. I know she probably has her moments like any one year old but she seems to be genuinely full of joy – LOVE seeing her smile here on your blog! Thanks for sharing your life (and for being honest)!
Gorgeous bag! I love how full of life your girls are all of the time. One can’t help by smile right back.
Beautiful pictures!

My June project was having a baby. And this is one project that I actually finished early! Now my project is to spend every second loving him.
Nella is so stinkin’ cute! I love the picture of her waving!
I love the pictures of Nella walking and that outfit she is wearing in the pictures is adorable. My little man is just starting to pull up on things so I think walking is in the near future of us as well. ๐
you have the cutest girls in the world and such fun taste in clothes, shoes, you name it! i love that there is a picture from Lainey in the purse. my fingers are crossed! My favorite part of this post was Nella waving with her little walker. That is so Jimmy style. Love it!
Love the saddle shoes- we wore them for poms in high school & they’ll forever have a spot in my heart ๐
Oh My goodness, I would be so so excited to have a picture from your sweet girl!!!! My little girls would also be excited to see a drawing from a sweatheart that loves to draw as they do too!!!!! Oh,and ofcourse I would love to win the bag too!!!!!!

I just love that first photo!! Just precious. That bag is super super cute too as our your saddle shoes. So very retro. ๐
I absolutely love the photos you put on your site. They make me look at the little details of my own children and our life and see the beauty in it. Thank you!

big love, groovy girl.
I dont so much have a challenge that will work with the down pours we are having here in WA but I would LOVE to just walk my kids to the library once a week its 2miles but so fun right?! Well it would be minus buckets of rain ๐ So no i am not pugging away just hoping really.
I love your saddle shoes they are so awesome! Also is that a Scentsy box that sweet Nella was standing in? I love it! I sell it…everytime i get a order dropped off i fall into happiness just looking at the wonderful stars on the box ๐ Happies!
Love your girls – precious! Nella’s wave is the cutest and Lainey’s ponytail… adorable! Thanks for sharing!

LOVE your blog and have recently passed it onto a friend who found out she was having a child with special needs and was nervous how she would react to seeing her baby for the first time. I told her to read “Nella’s Birth Story” and to realize that there is no right or wrong way to react, b/c in the end all that matters is the unconditional love you feel for your child. Thanks so much for sharing your life with all of us!!
You are simply amazing.
i love your pictures…they always make me smile.
that bag is awesome!! it would be perfect for my summer knitting ๐
The saddle shoes ARE. THE. BOMB!!!!!!
I absolutely love your dad’s quote. What a fabulous piece of inspiration for the day.
I love your Dad’s saying about being the thermostat!! I’m always whining about being hot in front of my boys and my mom tells me I shouldn’t say it in front of them because it won’t bother them until the know it is bothering me. I will have to share this with her…or not! ๐
I am not nearly cool enough for that sweet bag, but here goes anyway.
My June project is making dresses for myself and my daughter for an upcoming garden wedding… wish me luck. (the boys all get to wear suspenders and hats and short pants!)
Saddle shoes, pink and white saddles shoes to be specific, define my first year of schooling! I was a proud, round-faced, pigtailed girl with white ruffle socks, a flower print sundress and pink and white saddle shoes my first day of school! Love them and will force them on my little girls that God will hopefully one day bless me with!
I’m also loving the ruffle bottoms that Nella is sporting!
Gosh I just love love LOVE your blog…days that I am dragging I read your blog and like magic I am back on track! Thank you for being nudge!
Love. Your girls. Saddle shoes. Florida heat. Morning light coming through the window. Everything.
Gotta know wear you go the shoes! They rock!!! And Nella waving at the neighbors–melt!
I love your saddle shoes. You’re adorable. Loving your dads quote too.
I have a daughter just a few weeks behind Nella and am always inspired to cuddle and savor her more after reading your beautiful words and taking in your breathtaking photos.
suck the marrow out of every single day…my babies are now 26, 23 & 20!!!

Haha loving Nella waving at the neighbors…and Lainey climbing that mountain of a jungle gym….you go girl! And dude the saddle shoes rock! Love it mama!
I have no June project…I’m loving the bags though!!! I also love the pic of Lainey looking at the dog and Nella waving!!! ๐
Nella will be walking around in no time! Those saddle shoes are adorable. Love to wind down before bed and read your blog. Thanks for sharing with us.
Loving Nella’s wave! What a sweetie pie!
Loving Nella’s wave! What a sweetie pie!
I’d like a personalized picture from Lainey. Oh and a cute green and pink hobo bag too. Two of my favs, art and purses. Happy Friday!
Love Nella’s waving picture!
I love the bubbles on the water! And the pictures of your girls. And your shoes! AND THAT BAG!
Our summer has started off super busy! The end of little league and beginning of sunshine had us out in the yard building a concrete patio, me in the office on a rainy day cleaning and organizing, spray painting furniture black (old wicker dog bed, funky shelf for the cats), and next up (next week!) I’m staining the deck and tiling a backsplash in the bathroom. This activity is sure to fizzle out as camping trips to the lake, trips to beach, and fun with friends beckon us away from the house. But we always end up back on the deck at night with the telescope. ๐
-Mom of two boys
I kept reading, thinking, “what about the shoes?” you have awesome taste
I actually have two June projects that I am working on. One is our yard, getting a garden to grow, not killing the beautiful flowers that were here when we moved in, and building a swingset for the kids.
Second is completing my first college class in 12 years! Halfway through….:)
LOVE seeing Nella cruisin’ with her walker! Sister looks like an independent woman…So excited for summer adventures, usually those that involve the lease amount of forethought end up being the most fun and have the most ‘memory making’ moments!
Love the photo of Nella with Sophie! So gorgeous!
Your girls are too cute! I enjoy following your blog!
I have the same problem. Ty opens my cedar chest at the end of our bed and cries out, “How many do you need?!” Purses are necessary. Hugs from the North.
Love the saddle shoes and the “sup neighbor” wave made me smile. Thanks for another great post.
Kelle, you have inspired me. After years of wanting to jump into photography to capture the perfect moments in my life, I found your blog and decided it was time. After another two years of waiting (Yes, I have been reading your blog everyday for a two years. I love it!), I got my camera this week! My June challenge is to learn how to use it and get some good pictures of my new little son. Thank you for giving me an example to follow! Maybe someday I will be as good as you!
I do love the saddle shoes, and yes, I was going to bring them up! How did you know?! I smiled when I saw that photo ๐
I love your post – and the purse, it is adorable! In addtion, where did you get the saddle shoes…I would love to get my grand daughter a pair! Loving your blog-Darlene
So normally I guess I could be classified as a lurker, which is just shameful. But today I want that picture that Lainey drew for me, so here it is!
Your blog is beautiful, inspiring, and fabulous. I envy the way you can string together your words, thoughts, images. What a story teller you are.
Color me green over your talent.
My June challenge? I’m dreading making curtains for my friend’s nursery. It was supposed to be simple but NAY, she wanted them practically quilted. I cannot get motivated! I’d rather read by blogs all day! ๐
Thanks for the opportunity–I’ll take a drawing from one of your lovelies any day!
~Lindsay
Ummm…..love your shoes. Where oh where did you find them? So cute.
By the way-love the bubble photo.
Love your Dad’s saying!!!
“sup blog neighbor!
Love the picture of Nella pushing her cart around the driveway! Reminds me of my oldest when she was learning to walk. She would swagger so confidently across the room pushing her lion cart, in perfect rhythm to the music. ๐
Beautiful baby girls!
I think the saddle shoes are awesome!
Um YES the saddle shoes!! I was totally going to ask about those! I remember wearing the black and white ones as a kid. I hated them then. They didn’t bend and were uncomfortable. My husband now wears his all of the time and I’m sad I don’t have a pair! LOVE Sister waving at the neighbors. My son always flirts and puts on a show for our waitresses. Doesn’t matter if he’s in the middle of a meltdown, he pulls it together just in time for those college aged girls:0)
Saddle shoes ROCK!
This post is so me ~ I take many pictures of my girls, and today I was outside without my camera and it seemed everywhere I turned was another perfect shot arranging itself just so for me. Alas, the memories will have to remain in my head and not on my computer! ๐
Love Nella’s wave ~ too cute ๐
Checking Bass site for saddle shoes in my size….
love your description of your park experience… “moms who are wheezing and hallucinating” Hilarious.
thanks for always inspiring. love when i see a new post.
So true what you said about learning from your kids. We learn everyday some of the most important lessons in life. ๐
I love the quote from your dad–that’s a keeper! That bag is adorable too, I’m at the point where I don’t need a turbo diaper bag but still need room to put the baby’s stuff. Super cute!
AH! Love the bag. The pic of Lainey at the top of the play structure is super cute AND she looks WAY big! I can’t get over how suddenly big girl she looks. Amazing.
I wanted to plug away and get to majorly working out this month, but after my miscarriage in April, I’m STILL having a hard time “bouncing back” so I set my plug away month for July ๐
Absolutely love the picture of Nella waving to the neighbor! Put a big smile on my face.. ๐
Thank you for making me smile with another wonderful blog entry. My month of June has been chaotic – but I have been challenging myself to wear outfits that make me feel more confident. July finally arriving means a family beach trip- your Isle of Capri pictures make me ache for the sand! (July also means the last Harry Potter movie comes out, which my brother and I will go to see at midnight… Yay for geeking-out!)
How is it that dads always get to be so smart? Throw-away lines my Dad used regularly when we were kids have now become precious mementos of our childhood whenever my sister and I reminisce.
My all-time favourite Dad quote?
“Pee-ewww… Does someone need to go outside and shake their bottom?”
Haha, good one Dad. Makes me smile every time I even think about saying it to my kids ๐
you inspire me. thank you.
not sure if my other comment posted :/
Nella looks so dang proud of herself! So sweet!
Watch out world, Miss Nella is on the move!! Love it!
Love the photos, your stories and the bag!
When my husband or I see that precious moment that we know we need to cherish… one of us will make a camera click sound just to make sure the other person is taking the moment in too.
My June project is to get ready for baby number 2!! Super cute bag!
My June project is to get moving more… And with the nice weather, it’s been going well! Love the stick-with-it bag and love the saddle shoes!
I love reading your post every morning…..It gives me inspiration and reminds me to be patient and HAVE FUN with my four kids……we only have them for a short time before they are off living their own lives.
LUV the purse!!!!

I love Brett’s comment…”Can’t you just pick one bag and stick with it?” I’m chuckling at my desk.
Nella’s smile is cosuming!And Lainey’s shy smile…wow! Stunning! It really is…
Oh my…a Nella-in-the-box with a side of saddle oxfords and ruffle bottom?! Yes, please!!! <3
The picture of Nella on the swing with Lainey in the background is probably one of my all-time favorites of your shots. So gorgeous!
Great shoes and bag! Your girls are precious and your pictures always inspire me to take more pictures of my own girl. Have a wonderful weekend!
Love the saddle shoes! Where did you get them? My Mom would love a pair! She always made us wear them when we were little. Can’t say I was too fond of them then, but now I wish I still had them!
Thanks for making me smile and appreciate the small things! Love your blog!
YOur so amazing and each post I read from your makes me wanna love my family even more. Thank you!
Without your captured moments throughout your day and your amazingly crafted words, so many of us would have a small void. You fill up our happy cup with each post.
Awesome!
BTW, I love you Dad’s philosophy on being a Thermostat vs. a Thermometer. That thought kept swirling in my head all day yesterday. Still chewing on it and looking forward to applying that mindset. And yes, I love how we can learn from our children – even if it did mean that you were melting and hallucinating!
As for challenges, I had 2 for June. 1) get over my 13 year old style insecurity and tackle the embroidery machine and associated design software. And 2) work on my digital photo albums again; 50 pages into my first book, and I let doubts snuff my passion. I’m tackling both of them with confidence and vigor; a bit exhausted from the lack of sleep, but still pushing forward. Blog totally suffering as a result, but I’ll get my stride again.
BTW, I LOVE the song “The Little Things” – totally my vibe. Thanks so much for enriching my audio selection every day.
-Jennifer from Annapolis
Will post to flicker
Being a thermostat instead of a thermometer is GENIUS!!
Ann annmc72@yahoo.com
Been looking for a purse just like that for the summer!
Love red faced kids in the summer…just in it for the adventure. Your girls are too cute. Thanks for the great post.
YOu’ll probably never get down to reading my post but had to say: I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the picture of Nella sitting on the dog and the dog is looking (I’m assuming) at you like: I love the baby but how long do I have to just lay here? And I also love the bubbles raining on the pool. I simply love your pictures and your blog. Great bag too!
yeah Brett. I would love to take a purse off of kelli’s hands…anything i can do to help. ๐ love it.
I so enjoy reading your blog. All of your posts make me smile.
I find myself trying to make the most of this time in my sons life, while he is small and everything is so new to him.
I have thousands of pictures of him, it makes for an exhausting time sorting and organizing, but oh so fun looking back on all his experiences! We have a little girl coming in early September, and I so hope to keep up with pictures after she is here and my time is more limited…
I absolutely adore the blog header pic of the girls STANDING eating push pops, save that one in the archives if the headers change with time and aren’t also archived with the old post!!
Controlling that walker is HARD and you need lots of core strength, go lil one, rock that walking stepping and stoppIng stuff. Our therapist used a hula hoop too–holding the outside and with the budding walker inside.
She also wrapped a towel around my son’s waist and twisted it in the back which allows you to be more upright when walking with them but frees their arms and requires lots of their own muscles working… ๐
Soon it’s moving the chair with the favorite toy on it further and further away so she reaches and considers that little step.
I also adore saddle shoes but have not gone that route with the kiddies yet although my eight year old was admiring them recently at Payless. So maybe we’ll try them. Matching saddle shoes for my girls–oh my!
Your comments about pics constantly and memorializing portions of a typical moment remind me of my daughters comment a few years ago, “Mommy, why do you have so many pictures of things I don’t remember?”. Yes, that’s why we have them, to stir up those memories!
Let me just add one last thought: YOU ROCK! Thanks so much for sharing your thoughts and time. You are truly a gifted, patient and kind helper of families.
Love your description of capturing the moments in life. I feel the same way – willing myself to remember a moment in time that I know I want to treasure, when my camera can not be used to capture it. Happy weekend!
I am a HUGE fan of Elisa Lou Designs!!
I have a confession. When I use up on my hours on Pandora, I click on your blog and listen to your delightful selection of tunes. For hours.
Thanks.
Ahhhh… the SHOES!!! <3
Kelle – I just wanted to tell you that you are the reason I started blogging. I’m not a mom, but I do have a 5 year old step-daughter, and amazingly from day one your blog has just been like crack to me – an addiction that I can’t give up ๐ I’m not sure if its the way you write or the pictures or all of it, but I look forward to your updates. Keep up the great work!
Every day stuff can be just so extraordinary! Love that you make it look that way with every post.
Adorable bag! It looks like I could even throw in a few diapers and baby supplies.
Lovin this post. LOVE LOVE LOVE the ruffle buttay on Nella. You have the cutest clothes on those girls and of course yourself. ๐ Looks like fun. Thanks again for making my day. First week back to work after maternity leave so I needed a distration and reading your blog does the trick!
Your girls are so adorable. I love seeing your pictures and reading your blog. Love that bag, too!
Love the pool pics- what a fun summer you guys are having!! Thanks for another great post! ๐
Love the bag!
And, your blog – that’s the reason I’m here.
I have had to convince myself that I don’t HAVE to catch every moment on camera, and to just enjoy moments and take those “mind snapshots” instead of giving my kids the misconception that Mommy’s face has a lense on it.
Don’t get me wrong, I’ll still end up with too many pictures every year. ๐
I just posted a picture of my little Nicholas to the June Challenge group. He is an orphan in Eastern Europe with Down syndrome, and he will be turning 6 soon. NOT a good combination. He will be transferred to a mental institution unless someone can adopt him quickly. He cries in his sleep…just kills me. http://whereisthumbkin.blogspot.com/2011/05/meet-nicholas.html
I would love the picture that Lainey would create for me. It would go RIGHT up on that fridge o’mine. Oh, and the picture holder would be a nice touch…
Love that bag. Looks like it would be great for the summer!
Inspired by your commitment to challenging ourselves in the month of June I decided to run for the Board of my local DS Association. I am pretty shy and usually have trouble using my voice, so I decided to change this fact. It has been run by the same men for many years. But I thought, my voice is as good as theirs and so I challenged myself. But damn I was nervous! Just had my first Board Meeting and I’m so glad I did it!
…And Keep moving Nella!!!!!
Oh my… Lainey in the tiny little hat is totally you, Kelle!! WOW! I think thats the first time I have ever noticed it!
I loooove the pigtails. I have boys and they don’t wear pigtails well.
My June challenge is finding the box of beach towels I misplaced when I moved. They are here somewhere and I will find it if it’s the last thing I do. I will move through each room, tearing it apart until the beach towels are safe.
my june challenge is running, starting next week since this week has been crazy w/VBS and now Relay for Life this weekend.
love the saddle shoes and the bag, so cute!
Love pulling up your blog to find a new post…like a breath of fresh air. Expecting my first little girl soon and can’t wait to update my own boring blog with our adventures!
802 comments already, egads! not even sure i made this in the timeframe allowed. ๐
holy cats, i “need” one of those beautiful bags! ๐ thank you for introducing me to them!
PLEASE where oh where did you get the adorable name necklaces for the girls???????????
Hi, I’m a new photographer and stay at home mom of 2 beautiful girls (I also babysits 4 other toddlers in my home daily…crazy I know); and when nap time comes around I love having a cup a tea and reading your blog. It’s a very inspirational part of my day when I’m charging my batteries for the rest of the day. Thank you so much for doing what you are doing.
Stacie
Just wanted to let you know, that some days at work, I pull up your blog JUST for the music and keep it on all day! Kelle Hampton pandora station?? Thanks for sharing your fabulous blog.
Love the Sup Photo of Nella!!! I also believe that a camera can not click fast enough to capture every image a Mother wants to take of her family. (at least not in my life). I love your photo’s but I just LOVE they way you write and the words you use to express your life, it makes me feel like I am there watching it take place. Kelle have you ever thought of writing a book> I would be one first in line to get it????
That bag is so me!
Ok, I usually don’t comment, but I just had to say that you’re totally rockin’ those saddle shoes!! This, from a confirmed saddle shoe hater….ok, yes, backstory….I was born with a club foot, and, thus, spent my babyhood and half of my elementary school years in saddle shoes because the only two styles the special orthopaedic shoes I needed came in were these pathetically ugly brown oxfords, and, you guessed it, saddle shoes! I longed to wear the cool Nike and Tretorns my friends were wearing, but, alas, stuck in saddle shoes, I vowed I’d never wear those awful things again….well, Kelle, your saddle shoes have changed my mind….I love em’! (I know I kinda sound like “Green Eggs and Ham”…”I do! I like them Sam I am!, and I would wear them in a boat, and I would wear them with a goat, and in a car in in a tree, they are so cool, so cool, you see…. ๐
Oh my, the wave! Can I move next door to get the wave a few times a day!? Too cute for words!
I love your comment about being the thermostat instead of the thermometer. I need to work on that!
LOVE the shoes. So much I just ordered them. I loved them the first time I saw them here, … this time I couldn’t resist. Thanks for all the regular reminders to savor the moment – so important, so wonderful, and so easy to forget.
Love it all. Wish I had your pool — looks so lovely. The girls are beautiful, and the bag would be fun!
i’m a bag lady.
The “be a thermostat, not a thermometer” statement has made me think. I’m a SAHM of 3 autistic girls and I’m going to attempt to become more of a thermostat and less of a thermometer. There are so many projects I have going on and I think I need to accept the fact that they’re not all going to get done. I’ve used the mantra “Be the duck”. And now I think I’m going to “Be the thermostat”. Thank you for that! ๐ Happy quacking!
I feel like this sweet little bag would be a perfect diaper bag for baby #2, due to arrive in 6 months. ๐ xoxo
That bag is super cute but what’s more of a treasure is the picture from Lainey!
My June project was to paint my daughters room. That is done but now I need to put all of her things back in there.
I love the bag. It is to cute.
Thank you again for sharing such great moments with your family. I love seeing new posts and watching your girls grow… by the way the shoes are fabulous!!!
I have so done the trip to the park without packing supplies. We are in TX and it is Super hot here as well. The last trip to the park, I forgot sunblock. Thankfully my lil ones didn’t get burned, only I did. LOL
I just recently found your blog & I absolutely love it! You take fantastic pictures & your girls are both adorable!!
I did a June challenge & mine was to clean/purge the wreck of the toy land in our living room & daughter’s bedroom. I didn’t take any before & after photos of the bedroom, but it got accomplished. I did take pictures of the living room area.
(I hope these links take you to the photos right!)

Love your description of how we can learn from our kiddos. We’ve had a few hot days at the playground and I feel like such a worrier when I beg, “Come get drink!” or “Why don’t you take a break for a minute or two?” when they just want to play, play, play. Cheers to being thermostats!
Ah Summer..gotta love it. Are you growing any sunflowers? I know random…like a question an excited 4 yr old would ask. We are growing some and they are awesome and the epitome of summer.
Love the photo of Nella waving at the neighbor!
After reading you posts, I tend to take a bit more time with my little one! Thank you for the inspirations!
My June challenge is to let my kids just be kids! I am always so worried about the house being clean enuf to eat off of! I need to relax and enjoy the moments. They will pass and the kids will grow up and then i can have a clean house!
Love what you said about the blog not capturing every moment but that when you look back at the blog you can see the poignant ones!
Would love to win the bag! :O)
Love your pictures, think your girls are beautiful, and know I’d like to have that bag!!
Wendy
My favourite moments as a mom are the ones only captured by me. They are all mine to remember exactly how I want to.
I just want a note from lainey – she is so sweet ๐
“‘Sup neighbor” = hilarious!
Go Nella! Lovin’ the updates and pics. Ohio has finally joined you with some warm temps, whoohoo!
Your blog is the first that I have faithfully followed and read. I find myself checking often for new entries. There is just something about your writing, your perspective on life that fills my cup of life when it starts to get empty.
and thanks for the laugh out loud(and all my co workers looking at me since I am at work) at the picture of Nella and the caption “‘sup, Neighbor?”
TOO STINKIN cute!!
The picture of Nella waving to the neighbor made me laugh out loud. Love the pics! My June challenge is to make it through summer school while steadily plugging along at my thesis, all while working the evening shift at the hospital.
LOVE the bag.
I was just eyeing a new boho-like bag at a yard sale this morning. I could totally use a summer bag and this one is Darling with a capital D! -Idaho Amy
My June challenge is to get a job … and while I don’t have pictures to prove it I am most certainly working my tail off to make that goal a reality! And I’m trying not to get too discouraged every time I’m turned down for a job, that’s the tough part! Thanks for sharing your sweet girls with us readers!
Saddle shoes! LOVE them. Your style screams happiness and light!
The picture of Nella waving is so stinkin’ cute!
I don’t know if I’m ready for saddle shoes again ๐ Love Love that bag… and how Nella waves at the neighbors… what a sweet little lady!
My June project is to survive teaching summer school! I teach Early Childhood Special Education and LOVE it! We’re off to a good start but boy, I am exhausted. By the time the end of the school year rolls around it’s easy to forget how hard it was at the beginning.
You’re halfway through June!

Loyal reader in Canada!! Adore your blog and your wonderful outlook on life and living. The link is for a fundraiser for our NICU. ๐ Thanks! Nancy
Write another post! Im craving one!
Love it as usual, Kelle! Thanks for sharing…..that bag is gorgeous!
my challenge is to be a better grand mother to my 3 grand children! Also, that flower bed really needs to some work.
Reading your blog is like coming home (you know, sanity-wise)…I have yet to get through reading one of your posts without (at the very least) a smile. Thank you for making real life seem more normal!
You have the most precious little girls. I have two girls myself and now one grandgirl. Take photos, play and then play some more. It goes by so fast…..so very fast….
thanks for blogging love it!
VERY cute bag! Will you take a photo of the (certainly darling) pic Lainey drew? ๐
YAY for Nella!! She’ll be walking in no time!!
I LOVE the shoes! Your style is so much fun…I love the ideas you give me ;^)
As far as the lessons kids teach, I am finding that the more my kids and I grow together, the more I am, indeed learning from them. Like, um…dance for 20 minutes straight, laugh when running…study those ants like nobody’s business, apply the 10-second rule, etc. I am a better person because of them, for sure.
Those bags are beautiful and your saddle shoes are, well, just amazing!
Love that little wave ๐
i LOVE nella’s outfit. seriously, love.

Loving the last few post’s images of your girls, so wonderful. Thanks for the continuous inspiration and congrats to Nella for her recent get up and go!
I love the wave! Go Nella! I don’t take a lot of pictures (I’m trying to do better) but I do say “Click” when things are good and I want to take a mental picture. I’m saying that a lot more lately ๐
