There is no gradual in-between for sinking back into reality after a high-energy mini vacay. Oh, it’s still high-energy alright. Just not the beeping taxi dramatic skyline kind.
It’s a bit jolting to suddenly shift into home life and yet still brace myself for the next round of up and at ’em that commences again later this week when we take off to Michigan for my mama’s wedding.
Not that I’m convinced to empty my suitcase, of course. Brett asked this morning, “you do realize you have to unpack before you pack again, right?”

One day I will have a cute suitcase, not a shabby box with a ripped zipper that looks like a racoon with yellow painted feet climbed all over it.
A seven dollar new pack of Costco underwear says maybe not.
You know what I miss about New York? The flowers. I miss the accessibility of flowers and how, on any given corner, in the middle of towering skyscrapers and busy traffic, you’ll find a flower shop with rows of vivid blooms. I came home craving flowers, but I can barely snip a gardenia from our front yard and slip it into the house without Brett’s allergies flaring up. Yes, fresh is always best, but it’s May and it was time we brought flowers into the house–even if they’re silk.
They make me happy.
I missed this girl and just three days away from her has me convinced she’s a hair taller, a smidge wiser and wearing four-year-old shoes a few weeks too early.
I am excited for it to be her time soon. We’re all allowed a bit of parenting guilt, and mine generally comes in the form of praying she never feels overshadowed by Nella’s extra needs. We do our very best to let her know she is unique and loved and has her own special needs we recognize. I believe that without stressing too much over “are we doing it right?”, she will naturally know what is in our hearts, but still…when the chance comes along to give her just-for-Lainey times, I’m all over it.
And preparing for her celebratory day makes me smile.
Her book is finally finished. Click HERE to view.
She’s really into outer space right now. Draws planets, cuts them out, tapes them to walls, knows their names, and I have no idea how.
She told me this was Mars.
Yes, three days away from my kid and I am noticing everything.
And three days away from home has Nella a bit discombobulated.
I noticed she was extra clingy in New York, and while her huge smile the minute we walked in the house expressed her obvious pleasure to be home, she’s still a little out of sorts.
You wouldn’t really know it though.
It seems our explore-the-world trips the past year usually fall a bit unbalanced with travel stressfully stacked closely together. It’s never easy–packing and unpacking, asking strangers to buckle your belt for you in the airport security line because you can’t see past the baby slung to your chest, knocking passengers over with your diaper bag and camera case as you try to shimmy through the skinny center aisle–but staying home isn’t all that easy either.
(for the record, we had Cheerios for dinner tonight.)
I consider it all a grand opportunity–both to travel and show my girls that there is lots to do and see, and to deepen our roots into the familiar ground of what we love. Our home, our friends, our bed.
In between all of it, there’s always sidewalk chalk for them, cold beer for us.

Lainey’s favorite snack: apples with peanut butter and “spwinkles”.
My suitcase isn’t the only thing in need of sorting post-trip. My brain’s still stuck in New York.
Congratulations to the winner of the Spotted Monkey hat, Commenter #376, Ryan: Oh how you make me want to go back to NYC to experience that wonderful city again … I was there once, years ago and loved every moment. What an inspiring trip and amazing stories!!
Ryan, please send your contact info to kellehamptonblog@comcast.net
I’m coming around.
Have a great week.

Gorgeous photos as always!!
I know what we’re having for snack tomorrow!!! I love that old suitcase, gosh darn it if it doesn’t make you even more likeable!!! π
somehow i missed what the amber necklace is for…something with teething i think? I will google it. Love nella’s squinty grins as always:)
For me, coming home is always a bit bittersweet. I love traveling and experiencing new places.
however, I bet that beautiful girl of yours made home all that much more enticing!
I was just telling my mom earlier how I was still packed from my last trip to California about a month ago and I go back in a week and a half lol. Story of my life.
Oh such great pictures! I love the sidewalk chalk drawing of Lainey and the art on the wall (it must be a 4 year old thing, my daughter is always grabbing the tape from the drawer and putting up her drawings all over the house). I also love the photo book you put together, what a treasure. When she is all grown up she’ll really appreciate the effort and love you put into making a book all about her.
Packing and upacking is always the worst part of travel for me…
But I love being in that phase where you’re longing to be where you were and appreciating home just that much more…
One week into living in Naples and I’m still waiting for the drive to Ft. Myers airport, to be handed my ticket back to reality. It’s hard to believe that this – this 90 degree weather and sunburn by May 2, blue skies, no clouds and a beach at the end of the road I live on… and just about every road around here – is my reality!
I simply love it π
Enjoy your week!
~Beth (FEAS613)
I too tend to not want to unpack π Have a great time in Michigan this weekend and enjoy the time with family and friends.
Getting away is exciting, but I really don’t like the aftermath with all the unpacking and laundry. π Love the apple, PB and sprinkles snack idea…I need to try that one with my son.
Love all your beautiful photographs of the girls.
Many blessings!
jennifer
I hear you on the whole packing- unpacking thing…..we get to come to Florida in a little over 2 weeks and the stress of packing 5 kids is doing me in….and then when we come home they might live out of suitcases forever….it would be easier…..
love all your pictures…..always amazing……wish I was leaving Disney so I could meet you but we are on resort for the week……
Glad you had a safe and happy trip! Loved the pics you posted. Summer is almost here… can you believe it’s gone so fast? Great news to share with you soon:). XO
I just looked at your photo book and wow, it is amazing!!! How did you get it to look like that??? Did you import templates from somewhere?
Any info would be so greatly appreciated:)
Unpacking between trips is overrated.
We just did two back to back trips to grandmother’s house, and I will freely admit that I just took the dirty clothes out of the suitcase, and then piled some clean ones on top of the stuff that we didn’t wear the first go ’round.
Gak! Oliver=Me.
I am not a fan of the auto sign in feature!
thats a great idea to put sprinkles on the peanut butter!
It is really interesting to me, since we have travel a lot with Maggie to see my family who are in another state, how happy she is when we get home. It’s something that I have definitely picked up on, over the past couple of months. She just seems to unfurl a little bit more when she is in her familiar surroundings. The travel is fun but it really makes you appreciate home!
Does the amber necklace help? I’m thinking of investing in one for Piper…love the pics as always and your girls look beautiful.
Happy Monday!
Just had to say how much I love the last picture in the pool with L kissing N. Precious!
New York was amazing, inspiring and breathtaking, so happy for you!!! I love love love NY and it’s bustle leaves me feeling high and then hung over upon return…gearing up for a wedding in Michigan will be awesome though and hopefully some sun and nice weather for you, because our MN weather right now is bleeping brutal!
This post has me thinking once again; How do you do it all?
The book is amazingly beautiful! What a year. What a great girl Lainey is.
Beautiful and inspiring as always.
Xoxo
The last photo melts my heart! So very sweet. I adore traveling but coming home is always a pleasure too.
Lainey’s book is amazing! Reminds me I haven’t started either of my kid’s for this year. I feel like I JUST finished last year’s book!
I am the world’s worst un-packer and have been known to just roll a packed suitcase into the next trip. So, yeah, it can totally be done!
Love that blue polka-dot dress on Nella… such cuteness makes my day. And that last picture of sisters is gorgeous!!
xo
Kate
it is amazing how much they change in a millisecond. loved lainey’s snack…makes me want the same right NOW! enjoy the unpacking:)
As much as I love trips, I sure do love coming back home. Can’t wait to see ALL the details of Lainey’s party. Looks like fun!
I soooo love looking at the photo books you make. I’m trying to do that with last year’s pictures and it’s quite overwhelming. Great job.
Beautiful pictures, as always.
Homeowner Insurance
Thank you for the idea–apple with peanut butter and sprinkles! Trying to get my girls to like peanut butter. This just might do the trick. Sprinkles are like magic.
Oh thank heavens I’m not the only one who finds Cheerios to be a perfectly acceptable dinner option. Seriously…. if it’s good for breakfast, why not dinner? Does it really matter if it’s 7am or 6pm? It’s still just as nutritious regardless of the time of day!
Totally love the last photo of your ladies. And I am beyond stoked to read about Miss Lainey’s party… her fairy garden party last year was AMAZING so I can online imagine how killer this one will be!
Enjoy your Mama’s wedding and your next little vacay! Congrats to your family!
already can’t wait to see the post -post wedding
Oh, Spwinkles are a great idea for dipping in peanut butter! <—-Probably the least profound comment I’ve ever left you haha π
Love reading your Post!
The album you made is incredible!! Love reading your blog – it is my favorite!
Can’t wait to see pics of your Mama’s wedding..how cool is that!!
You know, I was born & raised in NY, lived here my whole life~until
recently~worked in NYC but, not being a city girl (my heart belongs near the ocean) I never really appreciated it being my backyard. After hearing you wax poetic, I’ve decided to take a day trip there this summer & look at it as if through the eyes of a tourist. Thank you for opening my eyes. You R.O.C.K. Kelle
That hat is just adorable on Lainey! The picture of her looking at the sidewalk drawing makes her look so much more than her (almost) 4 years. So, so cute!
Lovely photos! As usual. π Enjoy your week! π
I am always happy to read your latest blog post. I feel like I can step out of my northern clime and slip into your sunny south! Thanks for your posts. I have two daughters around the same age as yours and it is nice to read the stories your write about them and see the love you have for them. I wish that I had half the ability you have for describing your feelings and thoughts. I will continue to enjoy your beautiful words and photos. Thanks.
Gorgeous photos. Your girls are GREAT. Big sis will be there for little sis and the relationship will be more special than you will EVER imagine. So much LOVE.
I’m so jealous of your beautiful Shutterfly books. Through you I’ve both learned a deeper appreciation of photography and the knowledge that I might love taking pictures but I’ll never be a photographer. π
That final photo of the post is just gorgeous.
My brain gets stuck in NYC sometimes, too (even when I haven’t been in months). My fave is the awesome feeling of freedom…Did you experience it? I loved being walking down the street not caring what style I’m wearing or if I picked the right shoes, b/c no one cares, and I love that! So many things I love about that place, but I always love getting home, too. Have fun at the wedding, and know this: We are cracking open the sprinkles at snack time tomorrow! Great idea to liven up our old stand-by snack! Thanks!
Beautiful pictures! I love their faces in that last one. So sweet. π
oh my that photo book! such an amazing wonderful treasure for your girls. beautiful!
Dude. Michigan is only one state away… I promise to wave and shout hi! Really loud.
I needed a post from you today. I’m having a mental lack of unpacking… unpacking my weekend of big decisions and moving on with my week. This morning I felt off, like I was unable to disconnect from the weekend and let the week start.
Uncertainty… maybe that’s why we don’t unpack? If we pretend we’re still on vacation, will we stay there mentally?
Love, love, love the last pictures.
Celebrate big for your Mummy, congratulations.
Happy early Mother’s day too!
there is something so magic about both of your girls, they are captivating! Thanks for sharing
yah for being home and for your beautiful new peonies….(good choice)….it was nice seeing you and the almost-four-year-old today. your nyc trip pics are amazing and so inspiring. ps. that apple snack looks just like something sammy would love..she thinks everything should have sprinkles on top! xoxo
I love your photos! Any advice you can give on your post processing steps or actions that you find yourself frequently using would be greatly appreciated, especially love the soft effects. You are an amazing mother and beautiful photographer. An inspiration to all of us!
Thank you for sharing the book! So inspirational!
When I do not see my boy for 1 whole day…I am convinced he is taller & wiser…..good to know I’m not the only one!
I love the photos of Lainey in her hat. She looks absolutely precious. The last photo is my favorite–sisterly love π
Kelle,
Don’t worry about the parenting guilt…kids are so resiliant and I bet Lainey is aware her sister is oh so special!
When Savannah was sick, Dempsey was only a baby and got no attention from me until she was 18 months old. I still have guilt issues about this even today.
And at the time I wondered how she would be behaviorly affected by it all…the lack of attention from me as in.
Well today, she is such a happy, wise beyond her years 8 year old, for having been in a family where she didn’t get all the attention she deserved…and having a special needs sister. I am grateful for that! π
Thanks for sharing as always, and for your honesty to let others know its ‘normal’ to have these feelings of guilt sometimes.
Sending a hug
Diana Doyle x
My Oh My! Great job with the photo album and the boost to get my snapfish family album going!
I can’t wait to see pics of your mom’s upcoming nuptials!!! Does new love the second time keep it’s school girl giddiness or does it deepen into something calmer and wiser? I’m sure it will show in your amazing photos, no pressure there…;0 Love the shot of the girls in bed with Nella peaking around Lainey, like what’s going on without my consent??? Have a great week!
I can see why you would come around to relishing your home life too…those girls are sweet. Life looks pretty good all around.
Oh, and we had Cheerios for dinner tonight too since I was wrapped up in redecorating their playroom.
My boys were over the moon though. My parenting “failure” was their delight…sort of helps me turn that ridiculous guilt around.
oh kelle- that last picture made me cry. it is SO beautiful!
you insipre me as a mom and as a photographer!!!
xoxo,
Erika

Have Lainey (and you) try apples with Nutella, too!! I am 29- and just as addicted as my 3-year-old. My heart is happy after your post. Glad you are home safely! XOXO
I just can’t get over how precious your girls are! You take such beautiful pictures. I have told so many people to come and check out your blog because it’s so full of beauty π
i love all of these pictures kelle!
also laney’s hat is awesome.
you know, I have never found anything negative on your blog. Today, I found something and just have to get it out there.
Horseshoes are full of good luck!! But yours are upside down. The good luck has all fallen out. They need to point upwards to keep all the good luck inside!
Glad you are home!
glad to know I am not the only person that has knocked a few people out on the airplane! The worst is when I wear the back pack diaper bag…as I turn to apologize to the person I knocked out on the left, I knock out the person on the right. Urggh!! π Welcome back from your travels. And SO cool that you met Sharon Stone and the actor from Life Goes On!!
That last picture made my day!! Love!!
Wow sounds like crazy times in your household. Can’t wait to see pics of your Mum’s wedding, how exciting. Lainey’s book is adorable! Lastly I so want Nella’s blue polka dot dress in my size!
I just wanted to share that my mom had the same concerns about me, that you have with Lainey. And I turned out just fine. Never felt like I was 2nd. Never felt in the shadows. Never felt like my sister w/ special needs got all the attention. Not in the least. So take a deep breath and know that Lainey won’t either. because she will know that she is loved loved loved. don’t worry!
“apple star” as we call it, is my girl’s favorite snack as well π
Your book is so amazing. I make a photo book for my son every year (just about to start his 5th) but when I see your books I am so inspired to make mine larger, loner and better. Thank you for being so inspiring π
KELLE! I absolutely adore the photobooks you do for your girls’ birthdays every year! Now that I am expecting our first…I hope to copy your idea and do the same for my little one. What an amazing gift!
Beautiful pics as always. We whip out the cheerios for dinner sometimes too! Ya know when that “witching hour” strikes you gotta do what you gotta do-and love it!
Kelle – I can definitely relate to being enchanted by NYC – to me, it’s the most magical place on earth. I went there at the end of February… and my brain is still there. Oops… π
Nella looks no worse for wear! she still can squeeze in an OOOOO face. π You just need a vacation from the vacation..it happens to us all.
How on earth did you create that fantastic photo book from Shutterfly? I make books on Shutterfly for each year’s events and I’ve never seen anything like yours. It’s like a true scrapbook. How long did it take you? Did you use a special program to make the pages and then upload them?
Hahaha, I LOVE the red Mars taped to the corner of the wall! And congrats to your mama on her wedding! Can’t wait for the pics!
The photo book nearly had me crying! You should see my sad attempts! I am psyched though, because you gave me some great ideas. π
Lainey’s book is amazing!
Your girls are so beautiful, and I love coming here and watching them grow. I’ve lost both of my babies to complications with pre-term labor, but seeing your daughters’ beautiful smiles helps give me hope that one day I will be enjoying those “small things” too.
Ok that’s it. I’m convinced you’re really a vampire that never sleeps….cause I don’t know how you do all this!! The photo book is amazing.
We do peanut butter with apples at our house too – but never thought to use sprinkles – what a fun twist! Trying that next time.
And I didn’t get a chance to comment on your last post – but that photo of Nella laughing in the swing in the NY park is ingrained in my subconcious – it made me cry then laugh – and reminded me that happiness in life is just about all that matters. Well, that and love. Have a great week!
I LOVE LOVE that picture of Lainey in her hat. Gorgeous!

Welcome home!!
If I don’t unpack my suitcase the day we get home from a trip, it stays like that for a week. Oh well. And for the record, is there such a thing as a cute suitcase? They get so beat up it makes me want to get the boring ones. Our old ones were quite the sight. The wheels stopped working, the fabric was a little ripped. It’s a miracle my personal items weren’t scattered on the luggage carousel ever!
Oh and my husband and I just laughed at the bit about the Costco undies and Lainey’s planet knowledge. She’s a cutie!!
Kelle, reminds me of an email I once wrote to my mother after returning from a semester in Spain. In short: I have walked through the Colosseum in Rome and tasted Italian gelato; I have experienced Semana Santa in Sevilla and smelled the sweet orange blossoms; I have gotten lost on twisting roads in Prague, and found myself in the mountains of Morocco; I have admired many famous paintings, and I have traveled the world to find that there is nothing more beautiful than the old familiar place and the familiar faces of the people you love.
I hope we get to see photos of your mama’s wedding!
Welcome back to Miami (where I always long to go!!! π
Your girls are so cute and happy, as always, and it looks kind of nice preparing for that b-day coming up. I’m as impressed as ever by your preparations: wow!!!
And here The Boy and I felt “going wild and crazy” planning to order a Batman cake…. ;-D
Have a fab week, dear sweet Kelle!
Lainey is so beautiful…..looks like a mini you π
Nella…..still ache to give her a hug!
And if you ever want to come visit Idaho, I’ll buy you a new suitcase (although I love the fact that you have a tattered one…..who cares? Right?) LOVE THAT!
I am in awe of yyou — today, in particular, of your photo books. I find it so inspiring how you have all the same passions in life (being a mom, special needs advocacy & creating awareness, photography, blogging), but you manage to do them all so seemingly perfectly, IMO :). One day, I hope we’ll meet! You are amazing!
Elisa

Oh gee, I hate to come out of the woodwork to be nit-picky… but, page 72 of Lainey’s book has the year as 2012. I know – really not a BFD.
While I’m here though, I’ll just let you know that I started following your blog a few days after you posted Nella’s birth story and it went viral. I’ve since read back through the months before and continue to read every post — addicted to your passion and love of life. I have 3 kids and they all know Lainey and Nella from lookin’ over my shoulder or sitting on my lap while I read.
Anyhoo, I’ll slink back into my ‘looking from afar’ position now!

i know this is random but i always wonder if you actually clean your driveway or if the chalk just “disappears” at some point. it seems like otherwise there wouldn’t be an inch of actual pavement left to see. love the driveway-drawings π
KIND OF NEW HERE….I make shutterfly books, have for 4 or 5 years now….I make a few custom pages on CROPMOM, what do you use???Your pages are all custom!!!Love the book!!
please help me!!!
hugs,
jamie–mimi
Incredibly beau-ti-ful Kelle!!! Lainey Love’s Year Four keepsake of magical memories is breath taking! Lainey is a BIG girl now…I remember the days creeping towards my son’s 4th birthday and it also hit me…how did this happen…the growing up to a handsome young fellow. And as I sit here late at night after baking 28 M&M cookies for the monumental two digit birthday of 10 (cookies for his classmates at school)…I again say to myself “how did this happen?…how did you get to be 10 so quickly?” Through photos and journaling we create memories for our children filled with the magical moments they give to us everyday. I will be clicking the camera hundreds of times in just a short few hours as my baby…ooops…BIG kid wakes up with balloons filling his room and breakfast in bed as his crazy family sings Happy Birthday to him…the beginning to a magical day…Happy Birthday Matt-man!!
Happy wishes to your Mama on her glorious day!!
Thanks for sharing your energy, your family, your talents. You’re amazing Kelle!
Monique
cereal is often dinner around here too. with 3 kids, it isn’t always easy finding the time or energy to cook a proper meal.
Coffee, babies running around, your blog. The best part of my morning! Thank you. For giving me that π
We had Cheerios for supper last night too.. I think my twins would have them every night if I let them…
Your shutterfly photo book is amazing. I made one last year for my parents and in laws of their grand children but wow.. I can’t imagine how many hours that took you.. Plus I really need to get better at taking photos more often..
Beautiful! She will love those when she gets older and has her own children!
Reading your blog takes me back so much. I also have 2 daughters. Our oldest has spina bifida. They are 25 and almost 21 now, but I can totally relate to the guilty feelings of one getting additional attention because of her disability. Just know that you can love them both in different ways and they will know. I’ve always assumed this would be the case even if one of our daughters didn’t have a disability. My mother always said she treated me and my siblings fairly, not equally and I’ve always liked this thought. I also love NYC and am dreaming of warm Florida weather. Our spring is still struggling to find it’s way up here in Minnesota.
I love the apples & sprinkles. It’s things like that she will always remember. My nana used to let me put sprinkles in my yogurt & sometimes nostalgia forces me to do it again even now.
Your photobooks are always so gorgeous!
Discombobulated is one of my favorite words!
The book is such a fabulous birthday idea!
The photobook is absolutely perfect! Great job, as always.
Hi, I am a new reader and am in love with your blog! I just moved to Louisville, Kentucky from NYC so seeing your pictures and hearing about your trip to NYC brought tears to my eyes. I love NYC!!
Just food for thought, the other day I was really hitting my knees in prayer as I am days away from my new tiny one entering the world. And I felt this complete peace come from a deep deep question that has been in my heart for months. What is “special needs” really? I really feel in prayer God showed me, all my children have special needs! Every child does. Whether it be due to a chromosomal condition, ADHD, or the need for certain foods and certain types of comfort at night. Don’t they all have a special need? We need to stop looking at it, like a curse, embrace it as a blessing and realize, that it will teach us how to better serve our other littles whose special needs might just be an extra hour of your undivided attention. Hang in there Kelle, you are doing fabulous with Lainey and she will grow up to be the most wonderful and giving woman because of this!
what software do you use for your photobook pages? i have been just using shutterfly pages but am looking for something a bit “more”. Thanks
hilary
Love the chalk picture of Lainey on the ground! Funny.
Love your pictures! And I love Lainey’s snack! Sprinkles make everything better.
Lainey’s book is outstanding! Best of luck unpacking and packing again. What a special weekend you have ahead. Have fun in Michigan and cheers to your mom!
Love the peanut butter with sprinkles – my oldest is a peanut butter junkie!
Glad you’re back safe and sound! Congrats to your mom and enjoy your trip to Michigan! π
Kelle-
Would you please share with us if the book was made with Shutterfly, or with Photoshop? I was thinking you were probably just using Shutterfly as a printing resource. I would love to know more, I would really like to make one for my daughter and love your fonts and layouts!!
Thank you for your ever-inspiring posts! Can’t wait for the next one!
W.
Thank you for the suitcase, the Cheerios, the tape on the walls, the tears during your speech…….you really are just a normal person documenting an extraordinary life!! Your girls are both so happy and so amazing – you and Brett are doing a wonderful job. Enjoy the wedding -your Mom deserves a beautiful day. It will not be perfect (weddings never are) but with your family – I know it will be FUN!! Enjoy
My husband thinks I am weird because my girls and I like Apples with Peanut butter. Happy to see we are not the only people who do that.
Hi, I found you blog your “Rub Some Dirt On It.”
I, too, eat apples with pb.
Also, yeah, I totally try to do “buffer days” between the day I come home from a trip and the day I have to return to work. I’m always so exhausted. (Maybe I should just take more relaxing trips??)
Nice to meet you!
-Rachel @upperbottom.com
How have I never thought to add the sprinkles to apples and peanut butter before???
I can’t wait to see pics from the big birthday girl party!
Hope Nella gets back on track soon!
I was gone Friday, Saturday, Sunday and when I talked to my 4 year old on Sunday she said “Momma I haven’t seen you in forEVER!!!” Made me go a little bit faster…racing to get home to my girl.
welcome home! Lainey is looking so grown up, all of a sudden. She’s gonna be a beauty. Brett, buy guns… big ones.
Lainey’s book is incredible. She is going to treasure it when she’s older. She seems like such a sweet soul and an incredible sister. You are a lucky mama!
jonah’s all about the planets too, he mistakenly was taught that pluto is a planet…it has been corrected. he now knows that it is indeed a keiper belt object.
lainey is super smart- Mars is called the red planet! π
and lainey will know she’s special because all first borns know that. (speaking from a first born perspective). π
oh. my. word.
the book is Ah-mazing.
That giant Nella smile made my entire day! The girls both look JOYFUL. And I LOVE L’s knit hat. I want one!!!! Do they make those in big girl head sizes? From where?
I have to unpack as soon as I get home and put the dirty clothes in the wash.
Your girls are so cute!
Kelle,
I forgot to mention that I watched a documentary recently in my special ed training that I thought you would love if you havent already seen it.
Youtube Monica & David. π
Nella looks like such a little toddler now!! Gorgeous as always!
I brought fresh flowers for the 1st time this year today and they are now proudly displayed on my kitchen table π xx
I always need a vacation from any vacation that I take. Take the next day or two to relax before packing again and doing it all again. Have a marvelous time at your mom’s wedding.
I’m in love with that last picture Lainey kissing Nella!!! How adorable!! =D
One of my favorite times of the day is making a big cup of coffee and taking my sweet time to slip into your world for a few moments. It really is an escape for me and I love it. I hope and pray that one day I can become half the mom that you are. Keep doing what you are doing, girlfriend.
xoxo,
Bug & Ruby’s Gram
ps….BEST looking silk peonies I have ever seen…I thought they were real!
Your girls melt my heart.
Flowers are killing me right now.
You should never see my suitcases.
Happy Tuesday!
~CC
That album is AMAZING!! How do you get all those gorgeous templates? Please share your secrets!!!
Your daughters are radiant! So beautiful! Safe travels to Michigan and we know you will enjoy your trip and the wedding! π
Welcome home!
Love the Lainey pic of the tea party…. and overlooking Nella in the pool with her fabulous wet eyelashes
You did such an amazing job on Lainey’s book!
My husband and I went away BY OURSELVES for 2 days and 2 nights to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary. It’s been 7.5yrs and 4 kids since we’ve had that much time on our own. It was complete bliss and I loved every single second of it… but then we had to come home again! Back to the mess, and the fighting and having to do everything for everybody… I wanted to run away to someplace where people would bring me breakfast in bed again, lol! Even that short time away took some re-acclimatising back to home life again.
Oh, and spwinkles are favourites at our house as well, except that my 3.5yr old calls them pinkles. Love it!
Loving your daughters – so darn cute – cannot stop reading your fantastic writings and pictures
Wished I lived in the florida area – lol
Laniey’s book looks aaamazing!!! I started building one and hated how boring it looked. Did you edit your pages before uploading them to sutterfly? I would love to try something like that, but I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions would make me one happy editing, photo booking girl.
Love the beautiful pictures. If you are interested in an awesome twist on silk flower you should check out this tutorial:

I love all of her crafts and this one is no exception.

Wow. Feeling completely inadequate as a parent after having looked through Lainey’s book π Amazing! Well done. She will just love it.
Good luck with the unpacking and packing again. I’m sure such a special family celebration will be worth it… but good call on just buying new underwear π
Have a wonderful time with your Mama x
Lainey’s book is just amazing! I can’t wait to see the real thing. Nella in the blue dress is beautiful. She looks so pretty in blue.
a big thank you from nc to fl for you. you have inspired me to start blogging again. i blogged my infertility journey until it became to painful and i took it offline. and then i did a simple photography (not even close to your level of photography, i just like to see the beauty through the lens) then continued that as a way for my in laws to see photos of my son once he was born. but after months and months of reading your blog, i got up the courage to start anew and try again. it’s just been about a week now, but i’m keeping up with it and well we’ll see if i can. but thank you for being such an inspiration to so many to truly live and love. you are surrounded by so many amazing people. it’s a beautiful thing to share with the world.
Love all your photos and your adorable books.
I just wanted to give you a tiny tip with one of the fonts you use, it’s called Clementine Sketch:
If you Capitalize the word, it will close off the font on the left and if you end your words with a ^ it will close off the ends of the words! Does that make sense? Try it!! π
I think you are truly blessed! Your girls are amazing and beautiful. Great things are in your futures, I’m sure! Oh, your photos of them….you can feel the love.
I love reading your blog and seeing your pictures. You are amazing! Loved Lainey’s book. Do you use a digital scrapbook program or do it all in shutterfly? Love it!!
Lainey’s book is beautiful!
Have a lovely time at your Mom’s wedding.
xo
Kelle, It’s Maddox and Jamie from Michigan. I have tried to email several notes, not sure what happened or where they are going.
Don’t forget, I am an hour from Tawas. Thought about getting together with you to exchange gifts (some of my favorite things). I was going to go buy some of Maddox’s favorite things and exchange them for a few of Nella’s favorite things. Thought it would be fun. Anyhow, if you are interested let me know.

your girls are absolutely beautiful!!
love the book. Our son had one made of his daughter for me for Mother’s Day last year… LOVE IT! Cute apple idea for my granddaughters too π I feel for you in trying to make sure that Lainey feels her own specialness. My brother had a special needs daughter and another daughter and they both turned out great so I guess he did a great job.
Welcome home! Love the photos and words. I am sure you all will have a great time at your mama’s wedding. To BETH – your reality sounds pretty good! Love from the Blog Mama ~
Wet eyelashes.
You know, I lurk on your blog A LOT! π I also tell a lot of others to lurk too. But I just have to break my lurking today to tell you that I absolutely LOVE Lainey’s book! Completely AWESOME!!! And I just love your blog. I literally will save it so I can savor it in a quiet moment and just revel in the beauty of it and it never ceases to make me smile when I see Nella’s beautiful face! (Or Lainey’s, or yours, or the assorted others…LOL).
Thank you Kelle for what you do!
I just wanted to say I love your blog. I don’t have kids yet, but I hope I am able to take as many pictures and cherish it in such an inspiring way. And I have to say, I think Lainie is so cute – I’m a little jealous of her fashion sense… she is such a cutie! I can imagine you would miss being away from her! π You have such a beautiful family and a beautiful story! Thank you for sharing part of your life with readers like me!
I CANNOT wait to hear about your mother’s wedding! So happy that she has found new happiness!! Good for all of you!
Great post once again. I don’t travel often but know the “not here, not there” feeling. A few days in sunny FL should get you right back and then off to humid MI. Enjoy your time with your Mom, seems to be over Mother’s Day weekend, how perfect!
And HAPPY MOTHERS DAY to an inspirational mommy!!
Yay for the Michigan adventure! Of course it comes on the heels of another epic trip. It’s how we roll.
Also how we roll? Never unpacking. I dread unpacking and just live out of my bag until it is empty. Drives my man nuts.
I am in love with your last photo. Such sweetness there.
Miss your kids (you too).

Your photos make everything BEAUTIFUL! I love your daughter’s book as well. I’m sure she will cherish that forever. Amazing! π
Oh that photo book – what a fantastic record – absolutely beautiful!
I so hope our Michigan weather levels out and you have loads of sunshine for your mom’s wedding!
Amazing photo book! Lainey will love to look back on those for sure. I like the idea of one for each yr. I use shutterfly for my as well- love them. I like to travel too, but not for too long at a time. . . nothing like home.
I love love love your photobooks. I think I remember that at one point you wrote a post about how you make them. Can you put that link up again? Thanks!
LINDA – I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve seen a comment from you!! Hope everything’s going well!! And my reality is very nice… just feels unreal at the same time =) I’m getting used to it slowly but surely!
Hey, BETH! Hmm..I have posted some but may have missed just a bit. When there’s a giveaways, you know, there tends to be, like 2,000 comments (just kidding) and i dont always post or get to read all the comments – I usually try to. Oh, I know it takes time to get used to anything, but I am sure you will get used to it, slowly, as you said. And I am SURE it must feel unreal at times. Wow, to be that close to the beach. I am a 15-minute drive. I am doing ok- busy caring part-time for my two tiny grandkids, with the help of my hubby. I just feel so blessed that I get to do this! they are too much fun. Love to you
my son’s favorite snack is apples with peanut butter too! but your presentation is adorable, and i am definitely going to start doing that! everything’s better with sprinkles! π
LOVE this!! I am using some of those escape hatches myself… a LUSH bath with candles is my perfect one! π
I’m in love with these photobooks. My little girl is almost 5 months old and I am on a fast track to get a book done for her by her birthday party. I love the shutterfly photobooks, they are amazing, I ordered one for our wedding. The only problem is that doing layouts in photoshop takes FOREVER! I don’t have that kind of time, haha. I’ve tried downloading the program that you use, because I like the idea of dropping pictures in templates, but I am on a Mac and its not working for me. Do you have any suggestions?
Also, I would love to see your other photo books. I tried searching but couldn’t find them. Do you have links to Lainey’s previous books and Nella’s First Year book? π
I love the photobook
I love Lainey’s dazzling brown eyes
I love Nella’s spaghetti legs
But most of all in this post, I LOVE that you guys had Cheerios for dinner!!
You are one amazing woman.
Love your blog. You are truly an inspiration. Absolutely love the photo book. I do one as well for my son each year for his birthday. Would love to know how you formatted the layout. Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

ps – thanks for sharing your awesome life with the world!
Wonderful, just wonderful!
Where in Michigan? Oh and we have the elephant game, but I never once thought about taking it outside. Will definitely be doing that now.
Apples with peanut butter is one of my top five favorite foods. It’s perfect.
