The sky is a deep navy tonight and hosting the grandest exhibition of moon–rooted low, glowing radiantly. A thin veil of cloud is stretched across its width like lace, and every time I glance out the window, it seems to have grown–larger, lower, brighter.
We are nursing colds this weekend, all competing for the huskiest voice award. But colds and weekends happen to be the perfect pair. And so, we burrow…and ride it out, weekend style.
I have to say your comments on the last post were insightful and beautiful. Thank you for being so open and honest.
The Empower Necklace winner is Commenter #410, Appledapple: I would tell my 13 year old self to strut. To embrace the strength I felt, I knew was within me…but it frightened me, I would tell myself not to fear it, ever.
Appledapple, please send your mailing information to kellehamptonblog@comcast.net, and a pretty little necklace will be making it to your mailbox soon.
Happy Weekending!

Hope you all feel better soon!!
Great pictures! I hope everyone is feeling better soon!
Beautiful pictures Kelle, what a shame that you’re all feeling under the weather π
Awe hope you all feel better soon. I just finished a stay in the hospital with my little and I thought of you when I needed to “rally” through. Thank you!
Get better soon! We’ve got colds too… boooo!!! I hate it when I can’t breathe out of my nose. π
I’m loving the picture of Lainey lovin on the pooch. π
Fabulous pictures all cozy and warm. Sending fairies to sprinkle some healthy dust your way.
Feel better as you snuggle with your little ones. Sending healing thoughts from Michigan, where the leaves are brilliant colors this Fall…even with the rain. Hugs to you…jodi
Hope you and your gorgeous girls feel better soon!
Sending much love and positive vibes from Atlantic Canada :o)
Oh the resilience of the human spirit. The waves that might topple us, we ride with confidence. The winds that might knock us over, we harness and send a kite high in the air. I look at our little gift and remember when hot tears burned in the chaos of worry and dread…and now, I would trade her for no one. She needs no “repairing” or “restoring.” She is so completely Nellalicious. She is part of our perfect life…perfect in love and beauty. And her big sister just loves her so…they are going to be quite the team…I am sure they will get in trouble together, and do sweet things together, and just BE together. Well, feel better, water that garden, drink lots of fluids, sleep as much as you can and you will start the new week happy and well!!!
–Poppa
Burrow, burrow deep. That’s what we are doing this weekend.
xox,
Lori
I just need to say that one of my very favorite things about pictures of Nella is her little prima ballerina feet that touch the ground whenever she’s sitting up. PRECIOUS!
Oh that quote at the end is perfect as are all your pics. Even in a sick state you make things so beautiful. Hope you all feel better soon.
ooo i hope you all feel better soon π i love the last pic of lainey and nellabean in bed.. so cute… and lainey with the dog.. xoxoxo
Be astonished.
Oh.
Love that so much.
Just said in my head one moment ago, Oh, I wish I could read a Kelle post…and here one is : ) Made my Saturday night bright!
Hope you are all feeling better soon…thinking I could join you in the huskiest voice this week! Hugs to you all.
We’re sick over here, too! Calvin noticed tonight that all 5 of us were in sweats. π
Honestly, I feel like with every post I read of yours, I’m writing things akin to “Me, too! Me, too!” For reasons that elude me, we seem to be on a bit of a parallel course.
I’ve even got shin splints… π
Well wishes to your rowdy gang.
Looks.. soooo… cozy…. π I almost want to have a cold now.
Feel better soon! So glad you can all stay inside and have some cuddle time. It is a beautiful night here as well, crisp, cool, and a clear sky. Great night for Homecoming (we are hosting dinner and the after party).
Feel better soon!
Tricia
Ahhh, certainly the best medicine for a housefull of colds…we have been burrowing our sick little bodies a lot lately as well. Here’s hoping we ALL feel better by Monday!
You three girls sure look awfully cute even when under-the-weather!
E
My girl is sick with a cold too. We are hunkered down up here in MA. She is sleeping for the night now and I am watching TMC (love the old black and white movies!!!). Can I just say ‘Betty Davis?’
http://www.bluemorningglory.blogspot.com
I hope you all feel better soon. I love that your girls still smile through it like they are the two happiest beings on the planet. You’re a great mom, and inspire me greatly to do my best when my little comes into my life!
Hope you are all feeling better soon π
Hey Kelle, it’s been a while since i posted a comment. I had to go back and read your last post i missed it. I enjoyed it. I have posted before about my daughter before, she has spina bifida. She is doing so good starting to walk by herself with forearm crutches, yaeh!!! I haven’t blogged too much lately but put a recent pic of her on my blog. My heart got broken the other day, because i post pics of her on a group forum of other parents with kids with spina bifida and apparently i left a pic public and some random person typed “ha ha retard” under her picture, tears :(. I didn’t really cry, but it really upset me that a grown adult would do something that horrible. It did stab like a knife twisting in my chest. That word “retard” makes me cringe, it is just not pleasant knowing that people are being mean. Samantha is only just 2 and i have already experienced the hatred in this world, the one thing that has been in the back of my mind since i found out she had sb when i was pregnant. It is something all parents with special needs kids will experience at some point in their lives probably several times, unfortunately.
ok, enough of the negative. Are u posting any craft/creative ideas about Halloween? I have found a couple websites with cool ideas, i just didn’t know if u had something up your sleeve, ha ha ha!!!!
Jennifer
Oh yeah, hope u get all of you get rid of the yuckies soon. We have had that already this season, maybe not the last time this season.
I’m on day 10 of my cold. Here’s hoping yours go away much, much faster.
that bed looks so stinkin comfy!
Feel better soon! Loving the precious picture of Lainey and the dog!!!!
Congrats to the winner.
Hope you all feel better soon
You are amazing how you handle life I love it and you give me hope
Here’s to feeling better soon. Enjoy a laid-back weekend with your girls…sure to get you back on your feet in no time.
How do you make being sick look fun?
~sky
Dear Kelle
When my grandson was diagnosed at 18 mo. with cerebral palsy that bus hit. hard. directly into my heart and shattered it beyond repair. I thought forever. Until your Nella. Through your voice and your lens her beautiful blue almond eyes have touched my soul and began the healing.
Dear Rik
We have so much in common
1) We’re still rockin at 60, 1950 was a good year!
2) We’re in MI, I’m in SW MI
3) We’re on a new journey with our grandlittles
4) We’re blessed with strong, determined daughters and sons who will guide our babies with their love.
I don’t have the words to thank you both enough.
Praying for quick recoveries!!
Be well Kelle and family :)!!!!
You have such a way with words!
I hope you all feel 100% soon!!
To JENNIFER, oh, that breaks MY heart, too, that people can be so mean and cruel. I know it is a fact of life I guess; we have all experienced it, but it doesnt make it hurt less when one experiences it. I guess we take some comfort in knowing that there is also so much love in the world and so many loving people. To KELLE and Family: Hope you all feel MUCH better real soon. Everyone around me seems to be sick, including a 2 yr-old. Poor things; at that age, one can’t give them meds for congestion and cough and he sure wont let us use that awful scution bulb thing in his nose! So sad. I LOVE the quote at the end, Kelle – I think you have quoted her before? CONGRATS, too, to the winner of the neclace. I am ordering one for myself -a gift to ME!! Love you Kelle !
Beautiful. Thank you, Katie.
get well soon.
i hv to say. your pics look sooooooooo BEAUTIFUL.
by the wya, am running a give-away. care to join the fun.
http://lilyrianitravelholic.blogspot.com/2010/10/pua-give-away.html
darn colds π feeel better!!!!
my girlfriend & I were just saying the other day that it’s almost nice when your little household are sick because there’s always so much cuddling and snuggling going on. mmmm, love the little snug a bugs.
I think I saw that moon too, I always look out for it and it has been beautiful the last few nights. Now, I am in the UK but I think with us being in the Northern hemisphere it would be the same moon. I just made a fool of myself the other day with my ignorance of astronomy/gravity/stuff so maybe I’m wrong, BUT, I love the idea that you, who inspires me, looked at the same moon that also inspires me.
Those girls do that thing that little girls do – every day, past and present, seems like they look the cutest of any day ever. Impossible to be true of every day, but they do it, my nieces do the same!
Hope you feel better soon. I have been looking for a quote from Eunice Kennedy Shriver that your buddy walk post reminded me of, when I find it I’ll put it there.
A little girl and her dog. So precious. Get better soon!

Hope that you all feel better very soon!
I think all the tender loving care that Latte is showing you will do the trick!
xxoo
Jennifer, my heart holds your little close and celebrates those first steps. How amazing! Our special littles will accomplish more, will possess purer spirits, will touch and stretch the very heart of this world. I too fear those in the world who wield wounding words, but they are the truly broken ones. It is hard to fathom a heart so hard, so dark, do emptied of love they cannot see the divine glow of those who came to us to teach us what perfection and wholeness really is. These name callers and insensitive ones are the ones who truly walk through the world incomplete and disabled. I am clapping for Samantha–your cherished little champion! Love to you! I am glad you are part of our band!
–Poppa Rik
Feel better Hampton family! The first thing I did this morning while the house was quiet was check for a new post and you didn’t disapoint π
For Jennifer I hope that one day that word will no longer be used. Congrats on your daughter walking! You must be so proud!
You all look so comfy cozy!
Nella’s face just lights up the room! When I see these posts I just want to go get my baby…. only down side.. she is usually asleep and we all know you never wake a sleeping baby π
Feel better soon!!
Those pictures perfectly capture weekend snuggles with sick babies. We have a few sick ones over here too, its just that time of year.
Feel better, as Bug would say, “real quick” π
xo, Bug % Ruby’s Gram
I hope you all are feeling better soon.
(Nella rocks the whale sweater…)
We have the same kitty peeking out in the last photo–Lulu!! At our house, she really thinks she is alive. She starts meowing every time someone walks in the room!
I hope you all feel much, much better soon!
I can’t believe I won this giveaway, I had the best reunion with my step-sister from long ago (long story) last night, got in after 1am and then woke up still smiling from that bliss to find out I won…I am over the moon excited!
Thank you!
Love all the pics and coziness int this post!
You take the most beautiful “chilling around the house” pics ever! I hope you all feel better really soon! Wishing you a continued relaxed, laid back weekend!
Lizzy V.
Hope you all feel better soon. This time of the year is fabulous but also filled with colds/flu! I love your quote at the end. Now if we could all tell our lives like you tell yours, wow!
Weekends are the best time to be sick. Cuddle those little ones and feel better soon!
Hope you feel better soon!
You all look so cozy together. Looks like the girls were having a whale of a time…..Yes, I loved Nella’s sweater. Susan
I have to say that the bed you are all in looks super comfy cozy.
You’re so inspiring… even under the weather!
Love that that the girls have a mail box in their room!
Dear Kelle,
We are very familiar with burrowing and the ickies… my hubby has been very ill this week an unexpected infection added an ER visit, 2 dr. appointments and finally, a three-day hospital stay. We are home again now and I’m thanking my lucky stars for the predictability of home and the chance to mother my turkeys. Hubby is beginning to feel better… but now my baby is running a temperature… Oh well, such is life!
Love,
The Prairie Hen
Hope you guys get to feeling better! You all look so comfy cozy!
Kelle, I’m so impressed by your ability to love every day, even the sick ones. It really gives me perspective and makes me want to be a better person.
Snuggels and warm big hugs can make anyone feel better. And a mommy like you!!!
Your bed looks SO comfortable! What is your comforter? and pillows??
THanks!

This too shall blow over. π Sorry, couldn’t resist the pun
Yes, get well! Nesting all weekend sounds so nourishing!
Get well soon, Hampton Family!!
Hope you all feel better soon! We are ready for some cooler weather in Texas to compliment the season we are in, so I lit an autumn scented candle to go with the ‘heat’ we are in! ;)…Gotta make the most of it!
I’m sporting a cold myself. I’ll ad this to my “colds this season” tally I’ve got going…
Get better Hampton family and let the weekdays bring wellness to you (:
Been dying to try a frozen hot chocolate-ish drink since your NY post π found this floating around blogland…thought I’d share. (bet it’d make you gals feel better.)
fusiongourmetpinayintheusa.blogspot.com/2009/11/serendipity-3s-frrrozen-hot-chocolate.html
Feel better soon! Hot baths, naps, chicken soup…stat!
How is it that I stalk this blog like it’s nobody’s business and I missed your last post? It was amazing! I love all the pics, what a fun treat to get to see them today. Hope you all feel better!
Feel better soon!
We’ve decided to adopt a child with Down Syndrome through Reece’s Rainbow, thanks in large part to your posts about Nella.
A long time ago, God laid upon my heart the promise that I would have a child with DS. I’ve always taken that as something that will happen “some day” but more and more my family is realizing that the call to action is now.
Anyways, I just wanted to let you know that you have been an inspiration.
I, too, am under the weather today. I just discovered your blog and it is so cute.

Sending cyberspace hugs and hoping your family is feeling a bit better soon!
Hey Kelle.
It’s been a long time since a posted a comment. I know you are busy loving your daughters, and unless I have something worthy to say, I don’t want to steal a moment of yours away from them. But I saw this today, and I was so very, incredibly moved. By love. For my girls. And I thought it would move you too. I hope it does. I know it will:

Congrats to appledapple on the necklace!
Kelle- Made your pork carnitas recipe today. Yum! Thanks! Hope you all feel better soon.
Jill B (Overland Park, KS)
Awww sending lots of ‘get well’ wishes! I’m LOVING that photo of Lainey & Latte! So so so sweet!
As for Mary Oliver…be astonished! I’m astonished by Nella’s beauty! Look at those eyes in the ‘nibbling the toy watermelon’ shot…what a stunning little girl!!!
Hope you’re all feeling better soon!
Rest Up Hamptons!
xo
Lauren, how blessed a little baby will be–a little baby “set aside” and now embraced! Blessings to you and your magical family!
feel better…..
OK…now I am laughing. The photo where Nella is sitting right by your bare feet appears as though she is about to succumb to asphyxiation–like she is trying to say, “Move those feet or I’m outa’ here!” Yes, that is exactly what is going on!
I have to say the comment that won the necklace was amazing!!!! I so remember being afraid of my strength and power that I knew was inside me…so I turned away from it. What a great quote…I can’t wait to share it with my girls.
just laughing with you today. Nice humor!!!!! π
I am so in love with Nella’s smile. Fills me with happiness whenever I see it. Lucky you to see it every day!
Feel better! We just recently foung out we’re expecting again. Typically I pray for healthy, I still am, however with your strength and insight, I know I to could handle whatever God sends my way. Thank you.
LOVE the new header!!
love love LOVE the new header!!! Nella is biting Lainey’s tail!!!! hahah! Classic!!
Oh my gosh. Your new header. Seriously… Cutest thing EVER! Just love those girls!
Uhhh, super cute header…Happy Halloween! Great job on the costumes.
Did you seriously make those super cute Halloween costumes? Is there anything you can’t do? I’m starting to wonder if you ever sleep. You are amazing!
I had to go back and look like 4 times at the pic of Lainey with her puppy. I couldn’t tell if it was a real dog or just a stuffed one!!
And I haven’t commented on Nella’s glasses yet but OMG love. I obviously don’t want Colbie to have eyesight issues but if she does, she might have to try a pair like those pretty little specs.
Glad you’re all feeling better!
You have such a remarkable gift for capturing the beauty in each second. I LOVE the black and white of your girls. Very awesome!
And HEY!! Didn’t know you guys are Gator fans?! I’m a Bay Area native but have been following Tim Tebow since he first appeared with the Gators. Remarkable player! Was hoping to see him play when the Broncos came to Oakland but in due time.
Wishing you a wonderfully blessed day!
Beautiful as always! I hope yall get better soon! {{{hugs}}}
I am your reader from Bangkok, Thailand…maybe you have more than one! π I have been reading your blog for a long time and meaning to comment on how special your blog has been to my life…you bring vibrant color to a life that has been a bit black and white for too many years…and to a mama whose babies are way too grown up…way too soon…it happens so fast. Your writing inspires me to live life to the fullest, to smell, taste…well I’ll just say it! To suck the marrow out of the life around me! π We all have our crosses to bear in this life…and your blog has, for sure, given us all a feeling of… I’m not the only one…thank you Kelle…
I love everything about your blog. I read a lot of blogs, but yours is by far my favorite. I could read it every day for the rest of my life. The world needs more people who see life the way you do. π
