after weeks like these, when friday eve finally arrives…
i literally melt like chocolate into a tub of warm milky suds. and candles. and lavender aromatherapy. and quiet. and the new us weekly. and… if i’m lucky, i don’t see the long brass handle of the bathroom door jiggle and turn to reveal a frazzled one-and-a-half year old who wants to join me and rip up my magazine and blow out my candles. okay, relaxation aside, that’s a pretty welcome sight too. but still…a snippet of solitude is pretty nice.
tonight, daddy gave her her own bath in the guest bath while i took mine in our bath. and even though my water pressure was slightly diminished, it was…heaven.

however, my bath was pleasantly interrupted when daddy yells across the house…
“mommy! come look! quick!”
quick towel drapage and wet footprints later, i walk into this…

…which was pretty funny, i have to admit.
we made the best of our busy week. our house is completely holiday bedecked and we are enjoying listening to christmas music and playing “oh twissmas twee”…which, in short, is circling the tree over and over, singing “oh twissmas twee, oh twissmas twee.” followed by her little “mo-mo” plea and another round. and so it goes.
i don’t really have the brain power to make an organized enjoying-the-small-things list, but if i did, it would go something like this:
i’m lovin’ how our tree sparkles through the front door at night and how she looks like quite the little hostess in this picture: “welcome to our humble holiday abode.”
…and i’m lovin’ how i basically have to lie prostrate on the cement in our driveway to maybe…just maybe, for the love of all things holy, get a decent picture of her these days.

…and i’m lovin’ how she gets all excited and breathes heavy and has this major crecendo of energy before she gets ready to throw a ball. and then it putts out of her hand and rolls like, two inches on the ground. all that for nothin.

…and i’m lovin’ her little raspberry noise she makes all the time now and how cute she looks doin’ it.

…and i’m lovin’ the buena vista social club and their rockin’ rendition of this song (and, now that i mention it, she actually looks a little like ibrahim ferrer in that above photo. it’s the hat. and maybe only brent, emma & molly even know who ibrahim ferrer is) and the anticipation of macy’s thanksgiving parade and turkey and gravy and sweet potatoes and family next week. and actually running the heat and our fireplace and sweaters and hats in this florida cold weather. and the fact that my father-in-law’s winning photograph was actually one of AOL’s top news stories on their homepage today.
…enjoying the thanksgiving-is-coming things. ~k

LOVE the legwarmers on lainey. just said to my hubby tonight after a very chilly montana hike, “I’ve gotta remember to put her legwarmers on everyday!”
lovin’ the 80’s things!
Hey look there’s my girl who just left a comment right up above me. Oh, this blogosphere. Love it.
Um, you struggle to get a good shot of Lainey? Sorry, no sympathy. The camera is gold in your hands sister.
Enjoying the one-last-check-to-see-if-you-posted-anything-before-bed-and-you-had things.
Aw Dig! (that’s what my dad calls you). Lovin’ your last line. Big smile. You got it, baby!
LL and Latte’ in the tub is the most classic picture ever! That will grow to be one of Lainey’s most favorite-ist of all time!!
Kelle I was reading this this morning and I was thinking how relaxing then boom I could see you running through the house in a towel. I love how you write…..it’s like I’m right there. Latte and Lainey funny stuff…..Love the picture of Lainey opening the front door. So creative with your pictures…..definitely a window into your life!
first thought…Julia Roberts in Pretty Woman. Did you have your headphones on? Were you rockin’ out Prince?
ha! the ball “throwing”. Jonah can’t throw either or jump. the “jumping” is funny too.
i gave up trying to get a good shot of jonah at this age. thank God for digital. can you imagine the cost of film developing when you have to shoot 15 shots almost continuously just to get 1 good one?
i love the legwarmers…they aren’t considered a unisex accessory are they…i will refrain from buying jonah leg warmers.
Oh, the power of the claves and the conga…a sweet brass section can never hurt. Appreciating the salsa flavor even as UM goes down in flames! Spartans face a challenge soon. Anybody heard of that FSU place lately???
Dig the season and on with the groove.
onward

I love:
Lainey at the door…that smirk is wonderful.
Lainey in the tub…with the dog.
I will be there Thursday night…and will just eat up some time with LL. I, like Dig, also check your blog before sleep–but sometimes don’t comment for 24 hours…because sometimes, I haven’t words…I just say “ahhhhh.” Who grooms that dog–oh, that’s right, it would be ME! She looks darn cute!
had to check again, i love the look on her face in the ball throwin’ pic. i can feel the grunt of exertion that’s coming.
and LL in the door – i swear i’m lookin’ at a pottery barn ad. lying in wait on the cement was totally worth it.
we have been knocked in the head aplenty with cora’s ball throwing. she does the usual-toddle huge build up … which you expect to go the 2 inches … and she smacks it right into your head.
she has great aim. we are learning.
i love her look with the pup in the tub. “who me?”
Love Latte in the tub. And love the one of her peaking out the front door. Such cuteness!
