enjoying the small things

September 25, 2009 By Kelle

i said i’m not going to number this anymore. because i’m not the numbering kind of gal.

so, randomly, i am enjoying lately…

cupcakes.

watching her make them and need my help less and less. licking beaters. the most perfect fluffy frosting recipe ever. and the fact that i can’t quite decide on what makes prettier pictures…cupcakes or ice cream cones.

purging toys and simplifying.

we bagged up about 90 percent of the growing heap of junk toys she doesn’t play with that overflowed baskets in our play room and made everything look gross and cluttered. we added some covered cork boards, flipped the baskets and turned them into bookshelves and instead made a nice clean little nook for her with very little clutter.

it makes me happy.

daddy & the lipgloss

he glides it on her while she puckers the cutest little pout.

hair did.

i’ve put off a hair trim and maintenance for far too long now. it’s been months…lots of months. and tonight, i lost myself tipped back between the porcelain walls of the red sink in chair number 3. the head massage…the warm water…putting my phone away and allowing myself to read magazines while my color sank in…it is a wonder i don’t go every week.

early fall mini shoots.

…and this picture of my girl and her best bud that hits me just so. she really, really loves her baylee.

i am so tired tonight and aching for my bed.
so…enjoying the small things. five things…ready, go.

Enjoying…the anticipation of my three granddaughters coming to stay the night with me tomorrow. We will awaken to Sticky Buns or Grandpa pancakes–their choice. We will watch a good movie and talk lots. We will go shopping. We will laugh like hyenas. Also enjoying my work–which provides amazing moments and monumental connections for my heart. And then, my children–three wise, wonder-filled, warm and ever-growing individuals to whom living has no limits. And finally, my faith which is more practical than profound, more earthy than ethereal, more real-edgin’ than religion. OK, five…and I love these pictures of beautiful children through the autumn lens! Brett, Mary Kay called, and you didn’t make the cut!

Those are sprinkles like no other. Like little crystals.

What a lucky girl to have a mama as laid back as you, to let her just stir, and frost and sprinkle and bake till her hearts content!

I am loving that my little one can talk to me about letters and things that start with those letters.

Thank for the beautiful pictures of my girl.

    enjoying . . .

looking through the lens of my camera, clicking and just knowing i captured “it”!

my son, his deep belly laugh that makes me laugh with him, the way he runs to me and wraps his arms around my neck and places his head on my chest

my husband, he understands me and loves me no matter what

that sometimes you have to go through the tough and rough to get to the good, i’m putting in my dues for that “some day” that I hope will come sooner than later

and finally, enjoying reading inspirational words from lots of mommy bloggers who make me feel less alone in motherhood

ps – that last photo needs to be in the dictionary next to the word friendship!!! i’d send it to Webster if i were you! 🙂
