Grandma Krissy arrived today, and Lainey connected the minute she stepped off the plane…like she just knew it was her grandma, even though it had been since Christmas. She’s been making this horendous/funny pterodactyl sqwak to get Grandma’s attention, and then she’ll smile once Grandma lays eyes on her. I love when my mom is here. Our must-do’s this week: Watch lots of Discovery Channel (we already did today, and my mom was almost in a heap of tears over elephants…an hour later, she was still lamenting over “those poor elephants”), trip to Farmer’s Market early Sunday morning, Isle of Capri, ice cream sundaes in our pajamas…and whatever else suits our fancy.
Grandma helps Brandyn with his spelling words tonight:
‘Lil Cubby spots Daddy coming home in the window:

Lainey demonstrates how she can brush her own hair!
Oh, and sometimes she eats the brush!
And now for a random confession. I hate emptying the silverware basket in the dishwasher. Hate it with a passion. I’ll put away pots, pans, bowls, cups, but pulling out all that silverware and fighting with all the fork prongs that get stuck in the basket holes and the tiny coffee spoons that wedge themselves in between the bigger spoons making one giant tangled mess–it’s all just too much. So sometimes…(deep breath…you can do this)…I empty all the dishes…and just let the silverware go for another ride. No one knows but me. I have been doing so good with recycling and conserving–I really have, but the silverware I just can’t deal with. Consider the dishwasher a really fun roller coaster, and the silverware aren’t ready to get off the ride yet. One more time, they ask. I’m doing them a favor.
There. That feels better.

Yay for gramma’s!
jonah likes to eat his brush too, however, he does not brush his hairs. Yes, hairs because he has so little.
Currently he is with me at work, eating toast and putting it in his “hairs”.
Just make the Dishwasher basket the new silverware tray, Voila! Problem solved!
OR
Jonah likes to empty the silverware basket, maybe LL would “help” you out.
I have a secret, too! I don’t mind putting the dishes in the dishwasher, but I despise having to take them out & put them away. So, the dishwasher has sort of become extra cabinets in our household. Any time J is looking for dishes/silverware, and he can’t find it….he now knows to look in the dishwasher! Kind of have that same philospohy with laundry! I’ll do it, just hate folding and putting away clothes. Especially, since J likes his underwear folded a certain way! Who does that, I mean come on! Oh, he’d be sooooooooo thrilled if he knew I was telling the world of bloggers about his undies! :p LOL!
*** DISCLAIMER**************
Cleaning…I do love cleaning! Just not laundry or dealing with the diswasher!
I read what I wrote, I sound like such a SLACKER when it comes to keeping a tidy house! :o)
**P.S.- Loving LL’s golden locks more and more! SO cute!
i don’t have a dishwasher and i actually prefer it that way. we lived in an apartment before we bought our house and it had a dishwasher, but i never used it. i HATE, with a passion, loading and unloading ANY dishes from the dishwasher! i much prefer to hand wash all of them. i let the water run, squirt a small dollop of soap on the dish and hand wash it with my sponge. that’s how i do my dishes. 🙂
HAHAHAHAHA Kelle, don’t tell anyone, but I do the SAME THING! Only once in a blue moon-hehe. Thanks for admitting that. I really think the silver and the ‘good’ knives we got as wedding gifts LOVE to go for another spin!!!! Why not…?! I’d love to be a spoon in this house:):) XOXO
HOLY MOLY on the pages for Lainey’s book! OH MY…they are
P-E-R-F-E-C-T!
I laughed WAY out loud on “go for another ride”.
I make my kids empty the dishwasher, so we have solved this problem. The rule is…whomever gets to the dishwasher first gets to choose top or bottom, and doesn’t have to do the silverware. It’s a great motivator. 🙂
BUT…I will give the socks in the “white load” another ride in the dryer until they disintegrate!!
The scrapbook pages are incredible. You have truly captured her every stage. What a gift. Love you and Lainey LOve!!
OMG! When growing up with 2 older bully sisters (yes, they used to bully me,,,theyll admit it) they fought over who got top, the other did the bottom, and then I ALWAYS got stuck with the silverware being the helpless aka youngest!! I think I’m traumatized by it to this day bc it passes through my mind everytime I put the silverware away!!
Also, I never got a puppy!
that sucked!
open big drawer…dump all silverwear in…shut drawer!
OMG, Kelly! The puppy….HAHAHAHAHA! Oh, that made me laugh! :o)
i busted out laughing at work when i read the part about the silver going for another ride 🙂 it just sounds like something i would do!
an oldy but a goody! sometimes i go to the mailbox…only take out the good stuff and leave the junk for another day…there i said it…how’s the silverware doin…still takin multiple rides??
