here’s the cool thing about getting married: you get a husband…and by default, you get a whole ‘nother family. and while, to some that is unfortunate baggage, for me it’s a rather serendipitous inheritance for not only does the hampton family tree bear some pretty cool branches, but these branches all love my little twig. there’s nothing like knowing these extentions of family–grandpas, grandmas, aunts, cousins, etc.–love lainey somewhere within the same realm i love her…family.
lainey and i just returned from rockford, illinois where we spent four blessedly relaxing days with brett’s family, and our little sponges are soaked with perfectly wonderful memories…
i for once got to read, in one sitting, more than five pages of the book i can’t seem to finish. i relaxed. …and i blissfully watched as grandpa brian, donna nana, grandma colleen, aunt trish, aunt amy, great grandma betty, and little cousins loved on our cubby bear. and she drank it in…all of it.
tonight, we’re happy, we’re blessed, and we’re smiling from our sweet memories.
…enjoying the small things…(and the so-glad-this-family-is-mine-too things).
thank you, family tree branches for loving our “twig” and for making us feel so at home!~k

i love the family tree story and and that you call Lainey…a little twig on that tree…soooo sweet!!!! You are so right, family is such a blessing. Being able to spend time and relax and fill ur self up, and watch Lainey get loved on…priceless.
loving how you love your fam:)
glad you are home safe and sound!
The ones of LL eating, walking, and reading with grandparents are PRICELESS!! Those are pictures she will treasure FOREVER!! WOW!
Welcome back…if these comment post times are correct, I need to ask Kelly WTH was she up at 2:26 am? Great pictures of grand moments–a nice slice of geneology to reach over generations–a great grandmother is precious and priceless…savor every moment of it!!!
looks like you had a great time! glad you’re back.
Rik,
WTH were youdoing up at 3:26am? lol
looks like you had fun! LL looks so long lying on the floor hugging her baby!
I love, love, LOVE pictures with babies and Grandparents. Two vastly different generations, but they are bound together with family ties. Lainey looks so happy and content.
The one with Grandpa feeding her in his sock feet really got to me. Wow, awesome moment. 🙂
Gald you are home!!
xoxo jc
LOVE her laying on the doll on the floor. You are blessed! Looked like a fun time!
I feel the same way about my inherited fam. I feel so fortunate when hearing awful stories about friends and insane ma in laws….anyway, that tree metaphor rocks.
I missed your posts! Your photo album is to die for! Lainey looks older to me!
Glad you’re back online.
So happy you enjoyed your trip I am sure everyone just loved Lainey all up! How couldn’t they she is too cute for words! Happy you are home though Skye and I missed you and LL!
