I’ll take “The Mighty Long Week” for $1000, Alex

September 8, 2008 By Kelle

so, i promise a really good ‘enjoying the small things’ post to come. i’m still enjoying…even amidst a crazy week.

lainey was sick this past weekend. somethin’s still ‘up’ with her, but i can’t figure it out. she had little fevers all weekend, one which wasn’t quite so little…a 104 temp had both brett & i worried in the middle of the night saturday and we took turns holding a clingy, crying baby. consoling her, kissing her, cooling her head with washcloths. fever died down a little sunday, but it was lowgrade and she was still not herself. a little better today, but i know my girl, and she’s just not right, so we’re taking her in tomorrow to cover our bases.

poor ‘lil punkins has been off her schedule with all this sicky stuff, and was so tired the other day, she fell asleep in her old swing…the one lily uses now and she hasn’t been in since, oh about 9 months ago!

and little cling-on went for a walk with me the other night in the sling and had her head laid on me the whole time. i’d SO rather have her happy and well, but the only good thing that comes from sick is that she’s oh so cuddly!

in other news, papa was here to celebrate his birthday with us the other night, so i made his favorite…cherry pie and managed to get a half-way-decent crust with whole wheat flour (wouldn’t do it again though…the processed bleached stuff just tastes so much better in a crust!)

…and daddy found a little bunny in our yard yesterday…one that landed right in his hands much to the satisfaction of our bunny-obsessed girl.

…and finally, we had our first day with lily today, and there are so many little signs that have showed us this is what was supposed to happen. it’s a beautiful situation both for us and for david & kelly. we love this little baby and are so blessed she is here after all the years we prayed for her…and we feel honored to play a little role in raising her. lainey and i are excited to have her part of our week and are looking forward to all the fun we will have with her. strange how having someone else to take care of actually makes me more on schedule…i got more done today and ended up with a cleaner house than i do when it’s just me. routine is good, and we’re so happy to have a new one that includes two little girls that will grow up together. (and happy lily’s little enough to fit in lainey’s doll stroller…even if it was just long enough for a picture!)

the lack of blogging has been due to some rearranging in our house. pictures to come, but we said goodbye to our dining room (we never used it) and are in the process of transforming it into a family room/office/playroom, so there are still a lot of computer hook-ups and cords that need attention. when it’s all said and done, we should have a much better set-up!

in the meantime, here’s a little cubby…tired and a little out-of-it, but her lainey love-ness should be back in no time!

…enjoying the soon-to-be-back-to-normal things. ~k

I met Kelly online when we were both doing IVF and read on her blog that you were taking care of Lily while she goes back to work(your name linked me to your blog), I think you are a wonderful friend and pardon the intrusion onto your blog, but just had to make special mention.
    Your daughter is beautiful!

you can see how happy lil is be there.

poor little lainey bug…i know she will be back to her sweet self in no time, but in the mean time, snatch up as many cuddles and boosies as you can. “Sick cuddles” at out house.

Why does Lily look like she’s a moose in that stroller picture? She looks like she could eat LL for dinner! lol.

To have the peace of mind that Lily is loved on, laughing, happy and safe with you is the best gift you have ever given me!

It’s really beautiful how this all worked out. No accidents!

Love you and LL to pieces!!

just because they tend to be doing the same things at the same time…

cora is experiencing the terror that is MOLARS! we’ve been battling fevers (not quite as high as LL) and constant clinginess too! in fact, she was up between 3:00 am and when my alarm went off, when she suddenly fell asleep. good for her…not so good for mama. has lainey gotten molars yet? may be worth feeling around back there…

what an amazing thing you are doing for such a great friend. lucky mamas AND babies!

Awwww, sweet Lainey Love! (I just love saying her name) You can always tell a sick baby by their eyes, and I can see it in her eyes…not feeling well. But she looks oh so safe in your arms Kelle!

And that swing ROCKS. (ha) I bought that same swing for Darby and I’ll never get rid of it. That was something I HAD to have!

Could that pie be straight out of a magazine? Nice job!!

On behalf of a working mom who knows the dread of leaving your child, but the complete peace of knowing that the person and home you take them to loves them SO much…blessings on you! What a relief for Kelly to know Lilly is with YOU and loved so much while she is at work. I know that feeling and NOTHING compares!!!! Not to mention the amazing fun those two girls will have together!!!
