enjoying the small things

March 3, 2009 By Kelle

enjoying…

…that she begs to paint. and that she would do it forever if i let her.

…the swirly kaleidoscope of colors she had goin’ on her paper today.

…bird’s eye view shots.

…painted baby fingers…that smell like…creativity.

…dancing with friends in the afternoon light.

…her silly faces that are just so…lainey.

…screaming for no good reason other than because it feels good. and because you’re just that happy.

…hands-around-the-face hugs. ‘cuz those are so the best kind.

…this new look she gives. it’s my favoritest thing in the whole wide world right now. she does it on command when i show her how to do it. and i love it.

…laughing hard when she steals my glasses.

i’m tired. and i had this intention of a big long, beautiful list of things i’m enjoying. but this suffices just fine for me. this sweet, sweet day with littles is perfectly more than enough.

happy, happy day. ~k

    a perfect list!

And I can’t wait until bug can make stuff. She is just now into the chalk going on the board instead of in her mouth and that feels huge to me.

Also, the tiny, cable white, wraparound sweater? so cute.

I love that you let her make a mess. A beautiful mess, for sure, but letting her paint — it takes time and effort and there’s the consequence of clean-up afterwards… so glad you let her make a mess. 🙂

and this may have very well beaten the picnic post…can’t figure out why…the kaleidoscope of colors, perhaps….dancing little girls bathed in sunlight…the last photo…or iron and wine.

    oh.
    so.
    good.

kate gosling has nothing on you.

    I’m just sayin’.

so is so not all that and a bag of chips.

even though she thinks she is.

    she’s mean to her husband.

    and come ON.

who doesn’t love Jon? you know?

    he is a gem.

he needs to go bitch on her.

    on camera.

    for all to see.

    I’m just sayin.

I love that LL loves to paint; shows she has that creative spark like her mommy.

    Actually more like fireworks.

    No, an explosion.

    No, a bomb.

    Just like you…the bomb!! (shell)

so what do you say to get her to make that stinkin’ adorable face?
her and little baylee look like sisters!

what kind of paint is that? i want to get jonah started once it gets warmer. i’m envisioning a wall of maybe 9 10×10 stretched canvas blocks. a hodgepodge of original art works and photos in his room. i can’t wait! oh when you come up i’d love to have ll do one! jonah could have an 11 original on his wall!

That pensive gaze, those deliberate expressions–there is so much going on in that little girl’s mind…maybe even more because she has no interest in talking yet…just thinking…but when she decides–and I am certain now it is a decision–she is going to talk non-stop! I love loving her…and all my grandkids.

they’re crayola paints. i think i got them at target. but i think for cavases, you’d need to use acrylics. the brushes are melissa and doug…nice chunky little handles for baby hands!
okay…we’ll make jonah a canvas if jonah makes us one. love that idea. so much that i picked up three 12×12 cavases today to paint. they’re on sale at joanns for FIVE bucks!! i like the idea of interspersing some stretched canvas pics. maybe in a year or so when we transform into a “big girl” room, we shall have a wall ‘o canvases. one must be jonah’s. xoxo

i absolutely adore with a passion, no kidding, A-DORE painted baby fingers…or elbows, faces, feet!! when peyton or beckham get colored up while painting…i wash the big stuff off, but the little stuff that has been dry for awhile-i leave it and then snap pictures!!!

just says…i made something special today!

dancing in the yard with baylee pics are so sweet.

colors so vivid and lainey’s facial expressions are priceless.

Love the easel and I’m having trouble finding a good one….do you remember where yours is from? I’m in LOVE with your blog and decided to start from the beginning. It’s like i am reading a very good book every night before bed.
