Imagine what kind of goodness can fill all the spaces when a weekend begins like this…
Sleepily lying on the floor in the girls’ room on Saturday morning while I sip my coffee and watch them break into the energy of a new day. Starting slow…cuddling, cooing, stretching…
…and slowly crescendoing to a full dose of Today-is-my-Favorite-Day as cooing grows to loud calls, toys and rattles shake a little more vigorously and the big sister whoops and gallops and madly digs through the dress-up box for something just right.
Of course, the closing of the weekend was not to be outdone by that blessed commencement of coffee and cooing and bedroom bliss. It may have delayed its celebration until last night, but it delivered…with company in the crooks of our home…with candles and music and laughter and a table set with pretty napkins and flowers…
With manicotti and hot bread and a little something I could see St. Peter handing out at the gates of heaven for a proverbial little welcome if it weren’t for the fact that an alcoholic beverage upon heaven’s welcoming probably gives a sacriligous jitter to some. I’m just sayin’. It’s celebratory. And delicious. Forgive me. Behold…the Hawaiian Martini. Thank you, Dede.
Lainey set her little table for her and Baylee all by herself. Complete with place settings, folded napkins and, she insisted…a decorative kiwi.
And with weekend bookends that lovely, the filling could only be as grand.
A date with my girl. We shopped, just the two of us as I watched her peruse hats and jewelry and headbands, trying them on, smiling, declaring, “Oh, Mommy, this is beau-fi-tul.” And I think to myself a gazillion times This is so much better than I could have ever imagined motherhood to be. Watching your child be amazed, be delighted, be grateful…it’s so soul-satisfying.
And we finished our date, sitting in the sun with frozen yogurt that tasted like fresh peaches and cream.
Plastic Costume Jewerly…simply a must-have.
And then I cleaned and folded, rearranged and put away, and with every pile of clutter I obliterated in our house, I felt spaces of my mind organized as well. And although I am far from being naturally clean and organized and justify my hot mess of a house with excuses like “It’s creative. It helps me. It’s who I am,” I can’t deny the connection of an orderly house and an orderly mind. When all is clean and free, I think more clearly, get more done.
And I finally hung the strand of butterflies I picked up in Key West in the girls’ room. I like a house filled with purposeful items I love…things picked up on travels, artwork we created, photos I love. …and I love these butterflies.
They float right above the changing station so Nella’s eyes follow their gentle sway, and she smiles. And that makes me happy.
So does her one-eyed gaze…
Her obsession with flashcards…
Her in anything striped…
…and turning to find her sister has bedazzled her in something fabulous once again.
Things have slowed down a bit for me as far as projects I was taking on, and I am thankfully drinking my rich cup of mamahood. I have so enjoyed my girls these past couple weeks–as if that distinguishes it from any other week–and yet, there just seems more to be cherished every day.
I am looking forward to the shift of seasons again soon…some possible upcoming travels…the anticipation of pumpkin bread and apple pie and converasations in our home regarding what exactly she wants to be for Halloween. Oh, they’ve already started.
But for now, there’s still summer with its long days and good food and cold pool dips. And weekends like these.

Sweet sweet girls! Love the pics!
~Debra at http://ourimperfectlife.blogspot.com

Way to go getting rid of piles. I have about 100 piles that I need to obliterate today. Wish me luck.
oh. my. lord. preciously pictures and i find myself nodding in agreement at so much you said…and i think we imagine St. Peter with the same welcoming gift or us at the gates of heaven : )

One word always jumps to my mind as I read your blog: INSPIRING
Love the butterflies. And I too would like to see the martini recipe!
Have a blessed week!
I like your thinking. I’m not naturally clean either. I like the thought of it being a hot mess and spurring me on creatively. I think I’ll go with that:)
I’m craving peaches and cream yogurt now like no one’s business:)
not just any number flashcard, but of course, a 10, a perfect 10
MJ
Looks like Nella held up the scorecard of how the weekend rated: a perfect 10, just like her!
And can you give me a YUM on that martini?
And you didn’t just make a placecard with letters dotted so Lainey could trace out Baylee’s name? That’s BRILLIANT! Your mom skills are off the hook, girl.
You rock.
Looks like you had one of those delicious soul-quenching weekends! As always, your photos are like a tall, cool drink of water. Well done! Oh, and I totally imagine St. Peter to be one cool, hip dude and have no doubt he’ll be handing over those tasty little critters upon our arrival.
Ahh the one eyed gaze! Made me smile so hard I laughed ๐ I was so hoping for a new post and here it is! To brighten my Tuesday! Perfection. Now I shall go back and look again at the beautiful photos you took that make me smile!
Thank you for saying you are looking forward to the change of seasons. Proof i am not the only women in Florida missing the season changes of my northern child hood home. Fall is all i can think about this past week.

I am a new reader of your blog, I LOVE it! Your girls are so beautiful. It looks like you all had a lovely weekend.
Just like Nella communicates to us with that flashcard, she is a perfect 10!
Sweet girls. Beautiful photos. Always inspiring.
Both girls are just beautiful!!!
I’d like to think that St. Peter will hook us up when we walk into heaven.
Great post, as always.
Love the picture of the girls with your dog! Too cute…
Your home and your girls are so beautiful! I want to be YOU when I grow up! ๐
Love the one of Nella in the hat, and of the girls and the dog! Adorable!
I look so forward to your happy lovely beautiful posts, that I ran and got my cup of coffee first to better enjoy it with. so inspiring and perfect. I LOVE how you document your days…..thank YOU!
tara
Kelle~Would you share the martini recipe……Lovely post…..lovely children….come di consueto….as usual
Ha! Exactly what I needed to get me through a boring morning staff meeting, once again, you have perfect timing ๐
And I have to agree on the bean’s leggies in anything striped, so deelicious!! And shopping with your big girl looked absolutely divine.
Good stuff friend, good stuff.
And I recall a sunset gathering, when Nella Cordelia was baptized on the beach, your beautiful friend sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” and the love and lyrics blended with the soft sound of the waves and the grateful tears of those in attendance as we celebrated our gilded gift of love. I so enjoy seeing her explore her world and pushing her capabilities–today, little hands finding little toys…tomorrow, who knows!!! See you soon!
I wish I could share some weekends with you someday. We do really enjoy the small things and weekend are for family time. Great pictures ever!
The photo of the girls and their dog….too cute for words!!
Thank you for such a great post (again!!!) I adore the smiles of your girls & the fun, fabulous things you find for them to enjoy. My daughter has the same stripy socks as Nella & I love to see her little feet running around in rainbow stripes!

This recipe is perfect for when you want to serve a more sophisticated cocktail to a group of friends. While it does require that you marinate the pineapples in the liquor for at least 2 days, you’ll find that it’s well worth the wait. A large glass jar or even a big glass would work beautifully. If you’re not familiar with it, Malibu is a sweet, coconut flavored, white Caribbean rum. –SC
Yield: approximately 12 (4-ounce) servings
1-1/2 (750 mL) bottles Skyy Vodka (or 4-1/2 cups)
1/2 (750 mL) bottle Malibu Rum (1-1/2 cups)
1/4 bottle Stolichnaya Vanil (3/4 cup)
1 pineapple cut into 1/2-inch thick wedges
1/4 cup sugar
Layer the pineapple wedges into the jar. Pour in the remaining ingredients and allow the pineapples to marinate for at least two days. To serve, ladle approximately 4 ounces of the liquor into a stainless steel shaker half filled with ice. Shake 30 times, and strain into a chilled martini glass. Garnish with a wedge of marinated pineapple and enjoy!
Kelle, I love reading you, always makes me smile.
Lorena from Mexico
Once again I am reminded to “Enjoy the small things”! Thank you!
Beautiful all I can say. I just adore how much your father loves you and the children. I cried because that is how my father was with me and I no longer have him and his beautiful words towards me and my kids…great big hugs~~
Esther Dee
Those sweet girl. My 14 month old son (Tennyson) and I love reading and looking at pictures of your girl. Every picture that comes up Tenn will get excited and point with wide eyes and shout “baybay” He LOVES to get a glimpse of your pretty ladies. Thank you for sharing.
P.S. LOVE the butterflies.
Ah you make my day, as you sit with your cup of coffee and your girls, I sit with my coffee, give little Ethan a bath and peruse your blog most mornings.
Oh and Ethan is totally obsessed with flashcards too, now that he has teeth I find myself running to the local copy shop to get them laminated.
Sweet little babes, you gotta love em.
See you soon
Jessica from Ellensburg
I think everyone deserves weekends like that! How fun that you got to relish in the love for your daughters and just live!
Thanks for the recipe, looks so good. I know I’ll love anything that requires 4.5 cups of vodka. haha
My family is from Argentina and on special occasions we drink something called claricot…it’s like a white wine sangria where you soak lots of fruit in the wine for a day or two before you have it. I must admit that the “marinating” of the fruit in the liquor really is what makes it “super” drink lol. Eat just one cup of the fruit and you’re good to go if you know what I mean LOL
Keep enjoying it…..life truly is good. And it’s good to enjoy time with people that realize that. Thanks for the reminders…..
My little one has a one eyed gaze too and I absolutely adore it ๐ Thank you for inspiring me every day to be the mother I hope to be. My sweet daughter is only 3 weeks old and thanks to you I am looking for the most precious and little things to enjoy.
Thanks for making my day!
When I read your blog, I scroll through the photos and think to myself, ‘please don’t let this be the last one!’ Thanks for always giving me lots of encores of sweet baby faces! Your words make me SO excited for motherhood :). Now if I could just find one of those ‘husband things.’
“This is so much better than I could have ever imagined motherhood to be. Watching your child be amazed, be delighted, be grateful…it’s so soul-satisfying.” SOOOO TRUE!!! What a wonderful weekend! : )
I love that you let Lainey be so creative with her clothing choices! She always looks ADORABLE!
Beautiful- as always. Congrats on being the only candidate to be nominated in two finalist categories in the blogluxe awards! I was so excited pointing at the screen and saying, “Hey I read her!”

LOVE Nella’s onsie. ๐
And those striped socks and chubby legs are just too cute for words!
I had a date with my boy on Sunday and when I declared it “his day”, his eyes lit up with such joy I thought I would melt right there. I agree with you that motherhood is so much better than I ever imagined.
xo

Your photos have the most beautiful, soft and natural-looking colors I’ve ever seen! I have not been able to figure out how to get that look – mine seem so dark and contrasty by comparison. Do you use actions?
I read your blog for the first time last week, your words are so moving, inspiring, true and honest. And your pictures are wonderful too.
Keep up enjoying the small things ๐
,,,fairy tales really do come true,,,it’s suggested at the end of every rainbow is a pot ‘o gold,,,and their names are lainey & nella,,,lucky you!,,,
Delicious post!! Thanks Kelle!
Oh, and I must agree, the one eyed gaze is fabulous!
XOXO
Have I told you I love this blog?
I LOOOOOOOOVE THIS BLOG! Hehe…
I wasn’t going to post a comment… until I saw your sweet little note enticing me to do so! I just found your blog last week through a friend… and WOW! I started with Nella’s story and grew an instant love for you and your family. And now I am enjoying reading old and new blog posts. You are a fantastic writer, photographer, mother, and the list goes on! Your girls are the most precious little things. I have been inspired by your view on life and it has helped refocus me. I am dreaming bigger than myself lately, but have been reminded to enjoy everyday… even the small things ๐ Thanks Kelle!
Seriously, would love to spend just one day with those precious girls of yours! Hey, I do live in FL after ALL ๐ LOVE the pictures and looks like your weekend was filled with perfection!! ๐
Wow. You and your girls are amazing. I just wanted to reached through and hug them.
Your pictures and descriptions were beautiful. Thanks for the smile.
Hi Kelle…….
Just a quick Mommy tip:) These “Touch and Feel Baby Picture Cards” ROCK big time!! They have many different sets and they are thick and sturdy for lots of holding/chewing/exploring.
Just sayin’ for your flashcard lovin’ angel.

Your girls are beautiful… just like their mama. It is such an amazing gift to be blessed with, a little soul that adores you. I’m so inspired by your “in the moment”-ness, and I love to read about the way you treasure both of your precious gifts. Thank you for challenging all of us mamas to truly enjoy our littles.
love the jewerly! is lainey dressing herself lately? I ask because that is such an adorably mismatched yet matched combo i think only a 3 yr old could have thought of it.
how can one eye be so stinking adorable?! and did i read correctly that you were going to do a review soon? was that a product review?
xoxo!
I’m in heaven at the very mention of pumpkin bread ๐
Lovely, as always, Kelle. Tears, as always ๐ You have such a beautiful way with words.
When one of Kelle’s aunts was very little, she would have a day with her dad. She would always call it “Ourday” It was like a day of the week…and she would ask, “When is it Ourday?” like one might ask, “When is it Tuesday?” Yes, I would heartily recommend discovering “Ourdays.” They will add life to your years and love to your hearts. When is it Ourday?
Your post are alwasy so refreshing to read. Your pictures are fabulous and you have two of the most beautiful girls ever. I’m sure they enjoyed there weekend with you as much as you did with them.
Hugs*
lovely pics!
Nella is a ten! so cute =D
Ooh… don’t get me started on all the thing Autumn evokes!
I love that last picture of both the girls, and was thinking how BLUE Nella’s eyes are in stark contract to the deep BROWN if Lainey’s. Gorgeous!
My 2 1/2-year-old has started saying “beautiful” (can’t think to spell how she pronounces it –
bootiful?), and it’s just so precious. Does she know what it means? She also says things like, “for a little bit” and has recently become obsessed with saying “for two minutes,” like “can I take a bath for two minutes?” It’s hilarious.
I told myself that whenever we went somewhere special – even if it was local – we would pick something out to commemorate the occasion… but most often I find it hard finding The Perfect Thing, and resolve to save my money. *sigh* Love the butterflies.
Love love love stripey baby legs!
i cannot get enough of your blog! i just can’t.
Thank you once again for your blog…it reminds me to enjoy the small things in life even when they are fighting with each other and telling me they hate me. I have to remember to love them enough for the both of us.
sweet…sweet…sweet pictures, as always. pumpkin bread and apple pie time will be here before you know it.
Yay!! ๐ I love the way you soak in every moment. ๐
I can’t get over how beautiful your photos are! You have beautiful girls, it looks like a wonderful weekend!
Lainey and Nella are so adorable! Love the butterflies! They symbolize rebirth into a new life. They are a symbol of transformation and joy. C:
“We are always changing; we are never the same and each moment reveals a new facet, a new depth, a new surface; each moment brings its own change.” ~J. Krishnamurti
BEAUTIFUL… beautiful, beautiful girls. Looks like you guys have so much fun and I know EXACTLY what you mean about organizing your “head” before your home. The home organization / cleaning / de-cluttering will happen eventually. ๐
good one…really good one ๐
Just lovely, as always! It always looks like your household is the epitome of serenity, peace and calm. Don’t you ever have chaos? Not like I think you should, since it’s so nice to read your blog and dream, but surely you’ve had those crayon-on-the-walls, Calgon-take-me-away moments…? ๐
girl…you do have your priorities straight!!! your grateful heart is a blessing to us all.
Becca, Chaos is a plenty too. I thrive on the balance of crazed chaos and peaceful serenity. Crayon on the wall? Check. Calgon take me away? Yes, sometimes. All of it–the good, the bad, the stressful, the funny, the quiet, the loud, the messy, the put-in-its-place–all necessary ingredients in the soup of life.
Gosh, I love your pictures. My 4 year old daughter gets a kick out of seeing all of Lainey’s jewelry – she ooo’s and awwww’s while looking down the front page ๐
Also, I love what you said about feeling your mind becoming more organized as you clean and organize your home – this is SO much how I feel. A clean and organized home, means a clean and organized mind for Mama ๐

TO SUSAN IN BOSTON..I am VERY interested in those flashcards but..cant connect with the info/link you gave. I tried typing in the “Descrip” at Amazon and it didnt come up either. Can you or anyone email me if you find a way to tap int thru amazon, what i can type in or such, to get this to come up? I’m Lgravis2@aol.com and appreciate any help from anyone. Thanks!!
*sigh*
I love having you guys “in my life”.
those girls have the most captivating eyes… so lovely!
Simply delicious, Kelle!!
Dear Nella… you have such amazing and beautiful blue eyes!
Love the ony of Nella holding the flash card up in front of her sweet face! To die for!
Lainey looks adorable with her “mean” ice cream face!
Love your blog, keep it up ๐
That second to last picture of your brown eyed girl and your blue eyed girl (and Latte) just melts me. What cuties!!!
Once again, your post has brought a smile to my face – thanks!
angels!!
nella is so adorable! that pic of her on her tummy, what a champ!
love the kiwi.
thought of you this week as i have started potty training my 4 year old (yep, 4….) and even though it can be tough the successes are SO AWESOME. rite of passages for both mother and son. i totally thought this is something kelle hampton would be my witness on.
looking forward to Fall as well. apples!!
I’m right there with you, I think better when my house is clean.
And now I have a craving for pumpkin bars…so what if it’s over 100 today, I’m off to the store! ๐
oh kelle…beautiful, and THANK YOU for the comment on the chaos. Sometimes I do the look of “wow, this is so much more love and beauty than I even imagined,” but I also do the “damn, my friends tried to warn me that 2 was hard and I couldn’t have imagined just how hard”
What a wonderful post! Love the adorable and ever fashionable Lainey! Those eyes, those eyes!
And I have to say that Nella is growing right up. I just can’t believe the surge of bigger girl-ness happening right before our very eyes!
The flashcards are genius, Kelli, and I suggest that you keep offering more and more to Nella. Gabriel learned so many words by the time he was two, by sight, it was amazing. He’s five now, and he’s reading. Reading! (Sorry, bragging a bit here…LOL!) Anyway, flash cards and sign language really gave Gabe a full means of communication. I really believe in them. Can you tell? LOL!
Your posts never fail to amaze me with your words, and your beautiful pictures. You are an inspiration Mrs. Kelle Hampton.
ps.
check out this beautiful song if you have a second to enjoy yourself =]

I just read your “Special Needs” section of your blog. So perfectly written (of course!). Loved it and agree with it all! You are such a perfect advocate for Nella. She is so lucky to have you and we are all so lucky to have you on our side!
Oh! What a fabulous weekend! Your girls are so beautiful and I’m loving the plastic costume jewelery!
Oh! What a fabulous weekend! Your girls are so beautiful and I’m loving the plastic costume jewelery!
Oh! What a fabulous weekend! Your girls are so beautiful and I’m loving the plastic costume jewelery!
As always, your writing amazes me!
I just love your pictures and everything you write. It is so nice to read daily!
My mantra from Nella’s sweet arrival in our hearts has been: Expect much; Accept all. That’s it. I always told Kelle, we’re not cutting this new little gift much slack–she will run with the big girls–she will take her place in the circle. She will always be perfectly Nella. She will lead. We will follow. And Kelle, I am so proud that your focus on life and love and little things sets the tempo. It’s a lively beat. It’s rockin’. And how I love seeing these comments connect others–with resources, with perspectives, with inspiration, with affection. I didn’t understand blogs…I still don’t…but something beautiful is happening here and it has become an anchor for me! Love to you all!
Kelle I am LOVING the colors in your last few pictures. Are you using a preset for them? I am dying to know!!
Oh, POPPA, poppa..you ‘nailed it’. I, too, don’t quite get blogs, but am getting them more now. ha..But this is truly the only blog I am ‘drawn to’, that calls me, and so speaks to my heart, especially my “mommy heart”, and soul, my spirit. I agree with you, something beautiful is happening here. It IS inspiring and seems to connect people. I feel like this is a little “community” here (a rather big one, actually) and it usually feels very safe, and positive and uplifting. And YES, it has become and ANCHOR for ME, too and, I feel, to many others who check here regularly for new posts from “our” Kelle – I say “our” because I feel that seh is family even tho we have never met – and you, too, Poppa. I, like so many, always look for your comments and your wonderful words.
Kelle, its so funny that even in my crazy, busy life, one of the things I look forward to is taking a peek into yours. ๐ It’s like therapy – something that snaps me back to a place I forget exists, a place where I want to be. Please don’t ever stop. I already suffer withdrawal if I don’t get my regular fix. All the best to you and the fam!
Just found this website and it has you written all over it, figuratively of course! http://1000awesomethings.com
I hope you enjoy it!
Awesome awesome post! I love the second to last photo and Nella’s rainbow onesie, do they make onesie’s in adult sizes? I wish they would! ๐
1) Love, love, love the one eyed gaze
2) love, love, love the costume jewels!
3) love, love, love the socks!
4) love, love love a new post! it always makes my day!
thank you
I imagine doing shots with St. Peter when I hit the gates. I reckon he’ll need a few before I get there, too…. ;o)
Wonderful post that reminds us of the richness in the every day of our lives.
Thank you.

Again, I LOVE your blog Kelle. It brings me smiles and happiness and hope and all things good in life. Thank you for sharing it with us. What a wonderful weekend you had! Loving the pictures as always!
These photos are precious beyond words!!! I’m so glad my cousin told me about your blog!
Kelle, and all, I wanted to share this quote. Sometimes, like many, I can get caught up in Oh, my life isnt as great as someone else’s or their life seems more perfect or they have it more “together”, and oh i have all these problems. This simple quote was a great reminder for me. By Cheri Huber: “This life is what it is. There is no comparison. It is your Life. It is BEYOND “good enough”. It is awe-inspiring. All life is. The only time we don’t know that, is when we’re not PRESENT to Life.”
LOVE the picture of the girls and Latte. When did Nella suddenly get that big?
As always – thanks for inspiring me to remember the small things in the hustle and bustle of this thing we call life. ๐
I’m sure you hear it all the time, but your girls are stunning, STUNNING! Glad to hear that they are appreciated and loved so much by you ๐
Lainey eye’s are so beautiful they just blew me away!!!! I love the pictures of Nella so very very cute!!!!
You have inspired me to make time this week to hang up the colorful bird in her nest hanging decoration that i bought for my daughter’s room in february.
ps our daughter’s were born about 30minutes apart! makes me love your blog even more .
YAY! Dog pictures! They are small things having their own little wonderful & perfect lives too! More! More! More!
Loving the decorative kiwi & striped socks on little legs & special dates with Mama & Band of Horses on your playlist. Husband & I are going to see them in September, can’t wait.
I thought of you the other day… the first apples have showed up at our farmer’s market & I had a momentary twinge of excitement for all things fall… crunchy leaves & sweaters & cinnamon & snuggling by a fire… but for now am still enjoying a bit summer fun.
Today is my favorite day because it began with my Quinn’s first ever spontaneous sentence… “I want kiss” is what he said to me as he came in for a morning cuddle. Seriously, does it get any better than that?!?

Brought a smile to my face.
Brought a smile to my face.
Oh, Kelle. I have been a long-time reader but never posted a comment before. Your words and pictures take my breath away. The love being nurtured between your girls makes me smile and cry every time I visit your sweet corner of the blogworld- I have a 6-yo daughter who will sadly never have a sister or brother, but we love to snuggle in a big chair and peruse your photos together. Every time she sees Lainey and Nella together she sighs happily and tells me they are going to be best friends the way she and I are best friends. Warms your heart, I tell you.
Have a wonderful rest-of-the-week.
Being from Kansas, I of course love the “Somewhere Over The Rainbow” onesie! Where did you find it??
Your pictures are ever so heavenly.
Even of the decorative kiwi. ๐
Love those ice cream pics and Nella’s wollen over pants…TOOOO CUTE!!!!!
Such a gorgeous depiction of your weekend Kelle!
Love the way you capture all the precious details.
My head is clearer and I feel more at peace and organized when my house is clean too. IT’s hard to explain but it really helps!
Beautiful girls and such beautiful photography!

So many adorable pictures to coo endlessly over. ๐ I particularly enjoyed the one of Nella holding up the ten card and staring at the camera – I thought, “My god she’s a genius. She already knows she’s a perfect ten!” ๐
And the following one of her gazing in wonder at the card she’s clutching – like she’s really studying it!
This might seem a bit random, but I’ve known a girl since Kindergarten with Down Syndrome – her name is Simone. She’s a really lovely soul, and this fall she’s going to our local Community College; she’s eighteen. ๐
Anywho, thanks again for another delightful post!
– Kayla.
<3 it like always
TO: BRYAN AND CHELSEY – hope its ok if I jump in and answer this, to help out. Kelle answered this question earlier. I think alot of us wanna order that “Over the Rainbow” onesie! (Its always been one of my fave songs). You can find it at: http://giftologystore.com/store/product362.html Hope that helps!
Your blog updates are so satisfying. Remembering I haven’t checked to see if you have an update after midnight, before I go to bed and realizing you HAVE updated is like remembering there is more Ben and Jerry’s ice cream in my freezer!
man Brett is going to have to watch out for the boys with those eyes of Lainey’s! Man the girl has great eyes!
Looks like a perfect weekend ๐
A few months ago my best friend and I were going for a drive when she told me how she was captivated by your blog. I sat up that night reading your birth story shedding slow sweet tears.
Seven weeks ago my sister had a fiesty little girl who was diagnosed with treacher collin’s syndrome. I was in the room ten minutes after she had the baby and I could see the sheer surprise/shock/horror on my amazing big sister’s face. Your thoughts and hers were almost identical. Since then I read your blog regularly. I know these babies are nothing alike but they are gifts from God nonetheless.
Anyway the baby had surgery yesterday and she looks rough but then I come home, read your blog, and know we’ll be okay. We’ll rock it.
Love that photo of your girls are Latte!
YAY FOR UPCOMING TRAVELS. I’m just sayin’. Hopefully.
You know there aren’t many blogs that trump sleep for this deprived mama. And here I am, itty toothpicks holding open my lids. I’ll sleep better now.
Sigh… I have to say that I am beginning to even be a different mother just because of your blog. When something happens that doesn’t really go my way, I have to stop and wonder if I could laugh at the situation. If I could, then I do. I am finding much more joy in life that way.
I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and haven’t commented. I just wanted to tell you how captivated I am by Nella. She is gorgeous! GORGEOUS! There is something SO striking about her, something that tells you she is no ordinary little girl. She is going to do great things. Both of your girls are beautiful and sound so sweet! You’re teaching then well! Good job, Momma!
Gosh I wrote a comment, but I’m not sure if it went through.
I have to know… does Lainey dress herself or do you dress her? She is always looking so chic! I love all of the layering and accessorizing!
PS. I adore watching at Nella grow up through your camera…. I wish so much that I could pick her up and snuggle her… she looks like the “snuggliest” baby I have ever seen!
oh, Nella, stop being so cute, just stop it! now! and Lainey is just getting SO big. they both have the most beautiful eyes
i love how you write about motherhood. how it’s “soul satisfying.” i’m not a mother, but if i had to imagine it, i would hope that i feel the same way about it, and i wonder if my own mom felt that way towards me when i was growing up. (I doubt she did, but its ok to dream somtime). thanks for sharing about little things like waking up on weekends and spending 1 on 1 time with your daughter. it is such a good reminder of how important relationships are. =) i’m a huge fan of your writing (even more than your photo takin skillz which are already wicked awesome). =)
Kelle, your girls are absoltely beautiful, they have so much character and their personalities shine so beautifully through your lens.
Your writing inspires me.
Absolutely love! I love that Lainey dresses Nella up, that is so sweet and funny! Phew, I feel more excited about my day as a Mummy… thank you again xxxx
It’s a sunny morning here in Surrey UK, our family holiday starts Friday, a new post from Kelle and THREE (yes THREE) comments from Poppa. Bliss…… xxx
I think I’ve finally realised why I love your blog so much and check so often for an update you could call me a stalker ๐ It’s the absolute JOY you have with just being a mumma….I have a little girl and feel so blessed to have her in my life and everything you write is just how I feel…Thank you for putting my feelings into words xxx
hey! your blog is amazing!
but im very curious… and i wanted to ask- did you know along the pregnancy that your going to have a down syndrome child…?
I have a little plaque in my house that says “Pardon the mess, my children are making memories” I try to make that one of my mantras ๐
Okay, so you have like, oh SIX THOUSAND folks that could, and probably do tell you how frappin’ cute that baby is. One-eyed gaze…. LOVE. IT.
Blessing to you and your girlies this day and every day.
I love the one-eyed gaze. Absolutely beautiful! Those leggings–cool!

These images today made me smile so deeply. thank you!
Always love reading your posts … warm my heart and soul!
My 14 year old daughter’s new friend told me that she moved to NC from Naples, FL. I grinned, and said, “I have a friend that lives in Naples!” Well … I do think of you as a friend. The kind of friend that always makes my day a little brighter for having shared a tiny bit of your warmth and joy. Thanks for sharing your littles, your ups and downs, and your life, Kelle – you are a blessing!
poppa (i’m the one that met you at troy beaumont a couple of weeks ago :-)), i love your mantra….kelle has definitely inspired so many of us (with and without children) to feel blessed no matter the circumstance. and her grace and love makes her that much more inspiring ๐ kelle, i love how you write…it is so descriptive and the metaphores (sp??) are a.ma.zing ๐
Divine! Sweet girls, stripes, a perfect martini. What more could a girl ask for? Love this post. xox M.
I recently came upon your beautiful blog filled with honesty beauty and truth. I read your birth story twice and was amazed by your candid portrayal of your daughters first hours. It was refreshing to read your feelings and fears of those hours and days following.
I think we all have such expectations of our babies….all seeking a perfect child and when that expectation is not met, we are shocked. You have proven though that the love of a parent for a child shines through anything. Regardless of what God gives us, we all have challenges and difficulties along the way with our babies and children as they grow.
My friend always says as mothers we are only as happy as our unhappiest child. This is so true. So regardless of whether our children have DS or club feet (as both of mine did) or are seriously ill, we are happy if they are happy. Our expectations for our children do not always equal happy kids.
I love the photos of your family. Your oldest daughter has such style and is clearly a devoted and wonderful big sister to the baby.
Your story is awesome and I am so happy I can follow your blog and see your girls blossom.

I love, love, love your blog and I especially love, love, love photography and I’m not sure there is anything better than yours. I have a question for you. Do you post crop your pictures or do you crop them in the camera? I love the way to do that and wondered if you are seting the picture up like that when you take it or do you crop after? You are such an inspiration to me. Thanks
Beautiful post!! Love it!!
I love butterflies!
“A child is like a butterfly in the wind. Some can fly higher than others, but each one flies the best it can. Why compare one against the other? Each one is different. Each one is special. Each one is beautiful.” ~ Unknown

Oh my gosh! Those stripy socks are just too cute!!!
I’ve thought it for a few weeks now: when did Lainey lose all her baby-ness, every ounce of it, and turn into such a beautiful big girl? She just seems so much more mature all of a sudden. Remarkable. And she looks like she’s fufilling all the dreams you had for her as a big sister. Must make your heart happy.
I LOVE this post and all your posts for that matter! You continue to remind me to enjoy my kids…I often lack time & money, but I have become creative and am enjoying the moments we share. Nella’s onsie made me smile a smile bigger than I have smiled in days…my Mary LOVES Wizard of Oz and rainbows…from across the miles and over the internet you have touched my mommy heart!! Thank you~Julie
TO SOAPIE..I was so touched by your comment and how Kelle writes of motherhood being soul-satisfying and you wonder if your own mom ever felt that way. Sadly, I think there are many of us who may wonder the same. Hope ya dont mind me writing this but- the good thing is we can sort of nurture ourselves and take care of that a bit, FOR ourselves, if we need, later in life. And if we have kids one day, we sort of get to do that FOR us then, too, as we are doing so for our kids. Pretty great.
I’ve been cherishing your post for a while now and decided to finally share (I have a daughter who is almost 8 months old, close to Nella’s age I think)…
My 3 loves…
-I love that there’s nothing more peaceful than a sleeping baby who wakes with a smile on her face and big beautiful eyes that glimmer with happiness to see you ready to reach out and snuggle with you just before she exits the sleepy cuddle stage. That brief moment between waking and playing is one of the simple moments that we enjoy most!
– I love the first time mommy moments where you discover a wet spot on your brand new carpet and discover that swim diapers only contain poo messes!
– I love everything about mommyhood, except for the fact that it goes too stinkin’ fast!
your girls both have the prettiest color eyes! the brightest blue and the warmest brown. i love it.
mmmmm I can almost smell that coffee in those first few pics! The girls playing and waking … Love it!
That date with lainey must have been so fun! and the last pic of her eating the frozen yogurt – CUTE.. and then those shots of nella been in the socks.. one eyed stare.. oh my word. that girl is ridiculously cute! xo
I have to stop reading your blog at work. I try to sneak a couple of minutes a day to read one of your posts, but more than half the time I have tears(happy, good feelin’ ones!)when I am done. My co-workers either think I am crazy, depressed or highly bi-polar! haha!!
love it. Tracy

I read your blog all the time, but have never commented. Today, I must. Your words about ballet class and “letting go” touched me. I was already in tears today as I have to “let go” on Monday when my baby…my first born…starts Kindergarten. My heart is sad for me, but I am excited for him. Just like you, I will be a strong tree. And I will remember your words when Monday morning rolls around. And I will hug my 2 year old a little tighter!

The photos of sweet Nella and the flash cards put such a smile on my face. <3
It’s pics like these and words like yours, that make me want another baby! And then the reality of the demands of motherhood hit me ๐
First time reader – and I will definitely be back. Already added you to my “favorites”. Awesome blog, pictures, beautiful daughters. Love it all. Awesome!

We have the same striped socks for my baby girl that Nella has ๐
She has to wear a foot brace because of a small birth defect, so I try to find the cutest socks I can for her to wear with it. Striped, paisley, bold, we love it all!
As always, your girls are absolutely beautiful ๐
