My friend Lola–just a hop, skip and a jump across the state–is back in sponsorship, bringing her beautiful, functional camera totes with her.
Lua Handbags are handmade, durable and designed by the talented Lola who offers a collection of fun fabrics and designs.
Mine has been lugged across the country–from San Diego to New York–and has held my camera, extra lenses as well as all my day-to-day necessities like diapers, wallet, phone, etc. and it’s still in great shape.
And my camera clutch is perfect for smaller outings (looks like a purse yet cushioned to protect) or great to throw in a bigger beach bag.
Lua Handbags also offers the new Cross Body Bag, great for professional shoots when you want your gear close by–but still fun for everyday use.
I’ve had the opportunity to meet Lola in person. She’s a loving mama of two who’s rocking out her business dreams at home. More behind the business with Lola:
Q.) I have both a Lua handbag and clutch and love them both for different reasons. What went into the design of these bags and what were key features you wanted to be sure to include in their creation?
As a photographer and a busy mom of two kids under three years old, I was always carrying my camera and “lots of stuff” with me, without a proper place for my camera. And I certainly didn’t want to carry an extra bag for my camera, so I decided to combine them and created the “Lua Bag”: a large bag, big enough to carry your camera and extra lenses, and still have space for other “stuff” (diapers, snacks, wallet, keys, etc.)
The cross body is the “professional photographer” version. Same design as the bag. Just a bit smaller with outside pockets and a side strap, meant to be worn while shooting if needed.
The clutch is the “to-go” camera bag. You can take it on its own, or you can place it inside any other bag. It is perfect for vacations, beach trips, and/or every day outings.
Q.) I’ve taken my Lua bag on several trips and loaded it up, and it’s still in excellent shape. What’s the secret behind its durability?
Yay, that makes me so happy!!!! The secret: that it is handcrafted here in Fort Lauderdale with lots of love :), extra attention to detail, and that we use quality materials.
Q.) How did you go from teacher mama to mama who creates awesome camera handbags?
I always loved photography and dreamed about becoming a professional photographer. Before becoming a Special Ed teacher I went to school for fashion design where I fell in love with fabrics in general. Then I worked as a Special Education teacher for 5 years, and always had a camera in hand. After my son was born (second child), I stopped working as a teacher, decided to stay at home with my children and made the leap to merge two of my passions photography and fashion. Lua Handbags was created.
Q.) The name behind the business?
Lua is my daugther’s (firstborn) middle name. 🙂

I always wonder, if you weren’t given these ridiculously overpriced bags, clothes, jewellery and other items from your sponsors, would you actually buy them with your own money? It’s the one place I struggle with your blog. You seem to only promote things that are insanely expensive (from $40+ dollar shoes, sandals and rubber boots for your kids, which they have multiples of, not just one pair to $65 dollar dresses for a 3 and 5 year old) that your average family just can’t afford or justify spending the money on. I mean, all the power to the families that can afford such things and that’s fine but I do wonder if you would be as inclined to promote and buy these things if you actually had to buy them yourself.

I totally disagree with Cheryl’s comment. Kelle has many sponsers in all price ranges. Some of the jewelry is under $20. Many of the items are from Etsy and are also very reasonable. Many of her followers are from different income brackets so I think her sponsors provide nice items in all different price ranges to appeal to all sorts of families. I think your argument is kinda silly here.
Donna says
Argyrie – I think your comment is kinda rude here. Cheryl expressed herself respectfully; it’s another thing that you can’t accept someone respectfully questioning a person’s sponsor choices.
Kelle has many followers who will buy her sponsored items whether they’re cheap or expensive, ugly or beautiful, just because they have to have what she has. You strike me as falling into that category.
Argyrie says
Donna I think YOU are the rude one on here. Many of us on this site are tired of hearing people attack Kelle for one thing or another. To complain about a sponsor is really petty. If you don’t like the sponsors she is highlighting you don’t have to purchase anything. If you don’t like Kelle then you should be visiting blogs you enjoy more. The whining and nitpicking is silly and serves no purpose. The main thing to remember is that this is Kelle’s blog and she can choose her sponsors as she sees fit.

I recently purchased the camera clutch in the chevron print and LOVE it!! It is what I have been needing all these years. I usually would throw my camera in another bag without any protection… The camera clutch provides so much padding and protection. I love it!

Argyrie – I’m not going to engage in 15 year old bickering with you, just because other nasty commenters (not me) have offended you and you wish to take it out on someone. I won’t be your someone, so after I leave this comment, I won’t be back to further the argument.
I am not rude, nor did I leave a rude comment. I’m sorry that you’re sick and tired of hearing people attack Kelle, and feel that you need to be her personal bodyguard. That’s your choice. But jumping on people who have a difference of opinion from you is wrong, and if you were including me in your comment about ‘whining and nitpicking’, then I take offense to that.
Perhaps you should take care of yourself and let Kelle take care of herself. It’s a sad state of affairs around here if my comment or Cheryl’s comment is considered out of line. Not that big a deal though…..I’ll move on to someone else’s blog where there isn’t a nasty lynch mob waiting to descend at the slightest hint of criticism.

Hi kelle- I bought the neoprin case from pampered Paparazzi (got info from your blog) and I love it- I love the clutch from Lua bags. My question is do you put the neoprin case inside the clutch or is that overkill! Thanks
Love,
a mama who is trying to be a photographer of her peeps with her new Cannon Rebel t41!!!!!

ooh I just sold my old camera bag cause it was too big and bulking this appears to be just what I am looking for. In love with the sky cross body
Cheryl says
Argyrie – One I wasn’t bashing or saying anything bad about your precious Kelle. I was asking a question. Would she really promote and buy all the things she promotes if she actually had to buy them herself and they weren’t given to her. Get over yourself. Kelle in an adult who can respond to her own blog comments. If she has a problem with my question, like any mature adult she could deal with it herself or delete it.
The Life And Times Of A BlondeSoul says
I’m in agreement with Cheryl & Donna on this one. I like this blog, mainly for the photography. As of late, however, this blog has become a shopping site. Kind of a bummer if you ask me. The stuff Kelle is hawking is nice enough, but again, I don’t think the average Joe would spend the money on any of it.
And what’s up with the “guest blogger”?
I just don’t come back as often any more.

Definitely checking these out for a diaper bag option!

I was searching this kind of handbag only. I searched a lot in different shops and exhibitions but could not found. I would purchase one such bag for myself.
