New Glasses, New School Year

July 25, 2018 By Kelle

This post is sponsored by JCPenney Optical.

I know we’re cringing at the mention of Back-to-School, but this year, it’s a lot less cringe-worthy for me because I worked really hard to get things in order before we left for Michigan, so we could slide right home with everything ready to go. We’re talking backpacks are lined up, lunch boxes purchased, new P.E. shoes tucked in the closet. And the last thing I did before we left was get Nella all set up with new glasses for the school year (we leave a pair at school because nobody has time for the nonsense of driving the forgotten pair up three times a week–been there).

I get asked a lot about where we shop for Nella’s glasses, and I have three requirements–1) I want affordable options, especially because her prescription is still changing with frequent monitoring, 2) I want a repair/replacement plan because kids are hard on glasses, and most important–3) I want cute on-trend frames.

This year, we tried JCPenney Optical, and it checked off all our wants and needs.  I’m pretty picky about frames, and I was thrilled to find several stylish ones–so many that we had a hard time choosing (Brett wants me to go back and get the red pair).

JCPenney Optical is currently offering a $39.99 Back to School Glasses for Kids Sale that includes a large selection of frames, impact-resistant lenses and an eyewear protection plan. They carry major national brands such as Ray Ban, DKNY and Converse as well as leading private and exclusive brands.

(Dash tried on several pairs with Nella, and we were swooning over how cute he looks in glasses.)

And drumroll for the winning frames…

I love how the golden tortoise highlights her blond hair.

If you want to take advantage of their back to school sale, you can visit any JCPenney Optical near you or shop online at JCPenneyoptical.com.

Now if we can just keep these away from the toilet.

Offers and selections not valid at Nationwide Vision inside JCPenney stores.

Kids in glasses are so stinking cute! Just last week at our eye exams one of my kids was given her first prescription for glasses (it was only a matter of time as nearsightedness is huge in mine and my hubby’s families). We had to send out for her glasses and she can’t wait for them to arrive! That JC Penney price you listed is fantastic…might be worth it to get a second pair now…

I remember being a kid and wanting glasses so bad! And today there are even so many cuter options for them.

Bernard looks so much more “Bernard” with the glasses! Nella as always is just beautiful, and I agree with Brett, those red glasses are too cute!

My son, who is now 36, was put into glasses at age 3. But not just glasses-he needed bifocals. Way back then, and because his prescription was so strong we were limited to about three choices for a frame. As a mom I remember feeling so heartbroken to see his precious little face hidden behind the non flattering frames with the coke bottle lenses. It was a necessary evil, and after surgery to help correct his vision at age 6 he still remains today in his bifocals. He’s all grown up now with his own two girls, who both by the way wear glasses. At least the choices today for kids frames makes the process so much easier than when my little 3 year old needed such an important tool as corrective lenses to help straighten his eyes and correct and maintain his vision.

Cute glasses! As a kid I really wanted glasses, especially after my best friend got glasses. Alas, still no need to glasses but still really appreciate cool frames.
