He leaves the toilet seat up sometimes. And he thinks “Be ready in ten minutes” means “In ten minutes, start thinking about getting ready.” Sometimes we argue about really stupid things. And we’re both stubborn.
We are different in a lot of ways but similar in the ones that really matter. Like family. And love. And where we want to be ten years from now.
Five years ago, we walked hand-in-hand down the skinny aisle of a small white chapel. We had big dreams. Most of them have come true.
We’re still dreaming though.

On the last evening of June, I snuck out of the house for my final hoorah in my challenge. I didn’t run. I walked. Slowly and mindfully. No music. Just crickets and the random crunch from a junebug under my shoe. I pushed the stroller while Nella fell asleep, and I watched the eastern sky ignite with heat lightning. It was peaceful, a good way to go out.

In 5 years my husband will have his first real job! We will be living in a PERMANENT residence and we will have a yard so that our children can run and play with a future dog. I will have 4 glorious children and my husband will be exactly the way he is- cause I just wouldn’t change him a single bit!
In five years I hope to be on some grand adventure with my three littles (4,3,1) who won’t be so little. I can’t wait until they are big enough to walk trails without asking to be “uppy duppy!”

I got married 6 months ago and have dreamed about my kids clothing, nursery, and everything else already. In 5 years I hope to be a mom to fulfill my dreams!
Happy 5 year anniversary!! My husband and I just celebrated our 5th last Friday. π In five years, we would like to have at least one more baby, and we would like to live overseas again. We spent five years in Germany (my husband is in the Army) and we were able to travel all over Europe. The experiences were numerous and unforgettable, and I would love for our children to spend a few years in a foreign country. It was a little hard breaking out of my comfort zone, but so, SO worth it!
If I could have just one wish come true in the next 5 years, it would be to be mama to 2….or completely content to still be mama of 1.
Gosh. In 5 years I’d love to have a bunch of little babies running around. I’d like to be in a better place emotionally from the challenges of trying to conceive.

We just celebrated 5 years this past December! 5 years from now, I hope we add another kid or two to our already lovely 2 kiddos, enjoy some fantastic vacations (maybe make it back to Sarasota, where my grandparents used to have a condo when I was growing up), and just love every minute of the joy of watching kids grow!

In five years. . . oh boy, I want to be debt free, in a newly built house on our dream lot and have our then 6.5 and 8 year old kids to be thriving. But more than that, I want to be comfortable in my own skin. I want to work for something that means more to me than a paycheck. Oh and of course I would love to have seen the ocean sometime in the next 5 years – yes, I am 30 and yes, I have never seen the ocean!:(!!

5 years from now I hope and pray that hubs, our baby girl (due in 6 weeks), and I are getting settled in to our new home near family, friends, and the beach. I hate living where we do, in the desert, with no family or friends within 5 hours of us, but it has been a blessing because the lack of activities has allowed us to pay down our debt, which is also a dream of mine…that we will be debt-free in five years. We’re on track!

In five years my husband can retire from the Army after serving proudly for 20 years. Where will that take our family? He may he continue to serve our country or he may retire and make the jump to civilian life so we can settle down somewhere and grow roots. I may be working again after staying home for 10+ years with the kids and our oldest will be starting high school. I’m not sure exactly where we will be or how we will get there, but I’m hoping it’s a great place where we want to be.

In another five I hope the huband and I are married 14 years AND we have three kiddos (9 yo, and 2 – 4.5 yo). I am currently pregnant with twins after a miscarriage at 20weeks pregnant in February.

It too, will be 5 years for us in 20 days. I still can’t believe it. Where has the time gone? We will be celebrating by moving into our first house that week and having a campout in the back yard since we will probably be ther painting until late. How romantic. In five years I hope we will have another (or 2) littles running around our humble abode that we have fixed up with lots of personal touches that scream “us”. I can’t wait!

Is it horrible that I don’t know exactly where I want to be in 5 years? I know that, ideally, I’d be living somewhere else, experiencing another place with my husband and kids. That’s only if I can work up the courage! Other than that, I just pray that everyone is healthy and happy!

Well, in five years – mine is minimal compared to others, maybe but it has alot to do with the fact that I deal with chronic pain. And some days are just hard to even get thru. Your story is so inspiring. I have talked to people who have said that if they found out their child had down syndrome early on in the pregnancy, then they wouldn’t go through with it. Sure it’s a challenge and it’s going to turn your world upside down, but it’s such an amazing experience. You have your OWN child, you’ll love them no matter how long it takes to get used to the idea of them having down syndrome. It’s all about unconditional love, and this is throughout your blog. Lainey is such an amazing big sister to Nella too. You’re very lucky to have such a happy family! x

We celebrate two. The day we got together (almost 21 years ago) and our wedding anniversary 12 years ago!
Hm, in 5 years time my gorgeous children will be 7, 9, 11 and 14. Wow! I really don’t want to think of them not being little anymore, although I am sure there will be many exciting moments to come. My wish is that we are all happy and healthy and that our small 3 bedroom 1 bathroom house, will finally have the extension we have been wanting for 10 years!!!
I want SO much for my daughter and I to dance on the same stage together. Within the next five years it will happen!
In 5 years I’ll be walking my oldest to his first day of 2nd grade – and my youngest will be off to kindergarten. So close yet so far away!!

Hmm…5 years from now . . . I will be 40, taking my 8-year-old to gymnastics, swimming, and the library. Hopefully, she will be as enamored with Laura Ingalls Wilder as I was π I will still be laughing with my friends over a pitcher of sangria about silly mistakes made in my twenties (opps, thirties). I will be five years wiser, but still ready to embrace each day!
In 5 years I would like to have welcomed one more little baby, be even happier that we are now and take a trip to Disney World.

Hmmmm, five years from now I hope that my hubby (of 40 years) and I will be retired. I hope we live in a cute little cottage somewhere near water and are just enjoying this phase of our life.

7/1/16…I want to be with my beautiful family, which will hopefully be a couple of souls bigger. We just had our first child in May of this year, and I’m already wanting to experience all of it again, but at the same time, not wanting to cheat her of us enjoying every precious moment with her! I want a big family, lots of babies, and I want to home school all of them, and treasure every precious moment!
On 7-1-16, I will be the mother of a 4.5 year old and a 6.5 year old. And it will be wonderful, because I know that my girls will never go a day without love. That I know for sure, but what I would want life to look like is to find ourselves content in a home that suits us and our daughters. Also, knowing that my husband and I are content in our career choices and surrounded by both of our families.

Happy Day to the two of you! Our anniversary is this weekend as well! Anyways, in 5 years i will be done with school, have my CNM under my belt and be back to attending births full time, witnessing the miracle of life and nuturing the soul journey of the women, babies’ and families who find me… Oh, and loving my teenagers!
Happy Anniversary! Our five year is in Oct and I don’t know where the time has gone. In five more, I dream of finally finishing my phd and getting my husband out of his emotionally toxic job. I dream of baby #2. But above all, I dream that the laughter never stops, the joy keeps growing, and we take the time to slow down and enjoy it all.
Happy Anniversary! My husband and I will also celebrate our 5 year anniversary this year. When we got married, agreed that we’d take a nice trip, just the two of us, every 5 year anniversary. But, with an infant at home, doesn’t look like it’ll happen for us this year. 5 years from now, I’m hoping to be walking hand-in-hand with my hubby beneath the cherry blossoms in Japan, celebrating 10 wonderful years of making our dreams come true.
What will life look like in 7-01-16? I’ll have an 8.5 year old, 7 year old, and (Lord willing) a 4.5 year old…And who knows maybe another blessed surprise (age yet unknown). Man those ages sound OLD. :0( Just thinking that over I must have had a weird expression on my face, because hubby just asked, “reading something sad?” yes. the though of my babies being such CHILDREN in 5 years makes me sad. And yet, after a a day with more meltdowns and screaming fights than I can count…I hope these looong exhausting days of constant intense *presence* and parenting will be behind me. I hope 5 years from now brings about more laid back days of *enjoying* each other (sadly right now, I feel I’m just enduring these horrific stages). More joys, more hopes revealed, and more understanding of who we are as a family and what we are Called To.
Ah, just watched that video. So special. Made me cry. So funny – the two of you spoke so much about empathy and ended up making me cry.

Happy Anniversary! I’m actually scared of this question. My almost 5 year old starts school this year. I’ve been a SAHM for almost 7 years and I don’t know much else. I would love to go to school but I am petrified of the “outside world.” I’ve been at home so long with my babies that I don’t know if I can handle it. All these fears and doubts run through my head. Can I handle it? Am I good enough? What if the college kids laugh at the almost 30 year old mommy? In 5 years, I’d love to have my RN degree and be happily adding to my husband’s income and bettering our family’s future but I have a lot to overcome before I can take that first step.

I knew the anniversary was coming. Oh wishing you a wonderful celebration and a happy anniversary – 5 years goes fast, right? I’ve been married almost 19 years (yes, got married as an embryo) and we still laugh and love and dream and hold each other up. It only feels like 5 years. We just returned from a dingy ride down town for Mexican and I.C. with our little wonder.
I love Tea Collection. Love, love, love. Alex wore a Tea outfit home from the hospital and then a matching dress at her 1st birthday party. *sigh*. I wish that my girl would wear more than dresses right now; but really I cannot complain…but I love those overalls and exhaled when I looked at them yesterday on the site.
In 5 years. Maybe have our house paid off. Maybe own more investment properties. Maybe do a RV road trip in an Airstream. We will DEFINITELY have another dog. by then. In 5 years, I would be perfectly blissfully happy being where I am and who I’m with. The only thing I’ll change is my darling Adelyn will be 5 years old and my sweet Liam will be 10 years old! Yipes! I can’t wait to see what kind of people they develop into and what their interests are. Maybe we’ll have a few more chillins’ and I’ll be working on my dream unit at the hospital as an L&D nurse and the hubbs will be working his dream job as an English teacher. But, those are the small details. My big dreams are already here with me. π Happy Anniversary to you! Our 6 year is tomorrow. π
Happy Anniversary! My hubby and I are celebrating three years on Tuesday. In five years, I hope we have a couple of more beautiful babies running around in addition to the awesome one we already have, and a lot more happiness and love.
Hmmm….five years. Five years ago we started talking about adoption. Now we have the best little two year old and a pretty awesome relationship with her birth parents too. In five more years, I hope we have another one and another set of birthparents to love and respect as the selfless people that they all are.

Well, the original plan was to have another baby within 5 years but baby number 2 is proving to be quite a toll while she is brewing in my belly. So that adventure may or may not happen. Either way I hope to be just as happy as I am right now or happier. I have an amazing husband and family and I am so blessed and honored each day. π

How in the world can you read all of your comments??? π In five years I am very prayerful that we will have gone to Russia and brought home a precious angel with Down syndrome to join her brothers and sisters and she and Addy will be fast friends. I hope that my oldest is a college graduate and my Addy is fully included with her peers. We’ll be thinking of college for Cooper and Jake will be about to drive (yikes!) So many wonderful dreams and opportunities for our family!

In five years, I’ll be making a difference. I don’t quite know how yet, but I know I will be. I’m going to school to be a special education teacher with a dance minor, but I don’t know if that will change in the next few years. All I know is that I am going to be making something of myself, something larger than I can imagine, and I will be changing the world one day at a time.
My husband and I are discussing adopting a child. So it would be neat if that happened in the next 5 years. Our daughter really wants a sister. π

5 years from now, I hope to be celebrating the completion of my kindergarten for my now 17-month old!
Happy Anniversary…my husband and I will celebrate our 5th this August 26th! I agree that these last five years have flown by and only hope that the next 10 go a little slower. My only hope in looking at my future 10 years from now is that my son’s (who will be 13 and 10…scary) are happy and healthy and my husband and i love eachother as much as we do today!

In 5 years my daughter with DS will be 20 yrs old and her younger brother 17…WOW. I’m hopeful and excited for my childrens futures but I have to admit I’m a little anxious for my daughters. She is such and amazing person and I know that she can do anything in life that she choses to do. It’s just those momma fears that lay dormant and on the random occasion pop up out of nowhere. I have to remind myself that life is too short to be scared for her future. And she has proven to me her whole life that she will accomplish things when she is ready.

Sometimes I dog-ear magazine pages for gifts for my future husband. I haven’t met him yet, but I call him Jake. In five years, I hope to have written a song that was recorded by an artist and put on a real-life album. With glossy pictures and liner notes. I don’t care if it wins any awards or climbs up any kind of chart. I just want a song that I created to be on someone’s album. I also hope that Jake is a real person by then.

Five years…hoping to have the house repainted and brought into the 21st century, hoping to have the rocks out of our flower beds and mulch instead, a lawn that’s one shade of green and one species of grass, a big, thriving garden, but mainly healthy, happy, and with the road we’re on right now far behind us and a family that’s doubled in number.

It’s interesting to look into the future and wonder what it holds. Five years from now my oldest will be ten and my youngest will be approaching seven! They won’t be babies anymore. If we stay as fortunate as we are right now, my hubby will still have a great job and I will likely be back at work after having been a stay at home mom for seven wonderful years. I wonder what blogs will be like five years from now. Hopefully your blog will still be around because I really love following it.
In five years I will have a 16 year old. She just turned 11. I’ve been married to her daddy for 6 1/2 years, an have been her mama for longer than that, but we haven’t had the money for me to adopt her. So, I hope that five years from now we’ll have that little piece of paper that verifies the world what we already know, I’m her real mom.

And five years seems like such a long time, but I know they will come quickly… I hope in five years my son has a brother or sister. I was, am… not sure how to describe it now- pregnant, but it was/is an eptomic pregnancy (tubal)… now-a-days if caught early enough you just get a shot in the hip of chemo and they monitor your hormones for weeks (still going through the blood tests). So… I guess you could say I’ve thought a lot about our future lately…

As for where I want to be in 5 years… I want to be the owner of a fabulous dance studio or at least running one, homeschooling my girls, living in the country… with some chickens- definitely chickens! Cheers!
Gosh in 5 years – Hmm well lets see. I will be 45, husb close to that, Married by then for around 13 happy years. My children will be (wow! – I had to double check my maths) …11 and 9. Oh boy! BIG KIDS. I hope to still be much the same as now – but a little older and wiser. Hopefully my private practice will be flourishing and bringing in enough to pay some bills and a little extra for a family holiday once or twice a year. I hope to be in our own home in 5 years time (fed up with renting and no pets etc). Most of all I hope my little boy with ASD is thriving in a mainstream school and that both my children and all of really are healthy and happy. What more can you ask for than that.

I can’t even imagine 5 years from now! Our oldest just turned 5 and in 5 years our newborn twins will be 5! I hope that in 5 years, our 5 kids (5, 3, 1 and twin newborns) will be happy, healthy kids like they are now. And that we continue to show them what love, fun and family is all about with lots of adventure along the way!

5 years from now? I will have a going on 2nd grader which means that I will need to find some direction for myself. I (like you) was once an elementary teacher, but don’t think I will go back. Love Tea Collection! We just celebrated out 6th anniversary and our son’s first birthday. In five years I hope to be in our forever home (and not constantly remodeling it!) and have added another little one to our family. Cheers to you on your anniversary!

Happy Anniversary! In five years, we will be near to celebrating our ninth wedding anniversary, our darling Miss Mae will be 6-1/2 (which made me start tearing up when I thought of that!) and we will, God willing, have a few more little ones to round out our beautiful family.
I’ll hopefully be a teacher on summer vacation, either gearing up or coming down from an exhausting and fulfilling family vacation, full of wonderful memories – all captured on film.

In five years, we’ll be celebrating our 10th anniversary on August 19. Our now babies will be 7 and 5. And we’ll be dropping them off with the grandparents to embark on a month-long Greek and Italian (and maybe even Portuguese or Moroccan!) adventure to celebrate. That’s the plan/goal/dream, anyway. Anything could happen. By then, we’ll also be living in a new province, on a new Canadian Army base. But which one, we won’t know until they tell us! That’s part of the adventure π

In 5 years I hope to have at least one more child. I’m having some fertility issues right now, but hopefully they get resolved and I can give my son a brother or sister. Also, I hope that my son, who is developmentally delayed, will be caught up with his peers in 5 years. I hate seeing him struggle to do things that come so easily for other kids his age.
5 years? It seems so far away but here it is already half way through 2011 and I have no idea what I’m doing for the 4th, let alone 5 years from now. I can only hope I’m still with the man I adore (who at the moment is taking a quick disco nap in his skivvies), loving his children more than I do today, in a job that enjoy 9 days out of 10. But mostly I hope I still love the fact that I am growing and changing every day. I’m not afraid of the woman I am continuously morphing into with my loved ones by my side. And I hope I have a more advanced camera strapped to me and more people reading my words.

In 5 years our first born will be almost 6 and the one I’m carrying now will be almost 5. I’m hoping there are two more (Secretly hoping for 2 girls in the next round…) who are 3 and 2. I hope (and know because we have got to make these dreams happen, baby!) we’ll have left Oklahoma, but where we’ll be is still a topic to dream about. Florida? California? Canada? New Zealand? I’ll take any of ’em, just give me courage to start fresh and passion to embark on this adventure with my family. My husband will have started his t-shirt business and it will be a raging success (maybe we’ll even come on as a sponsor!). He’ll have loads of free time and our days will be spent working for a few hours and then taking day trips with our tinies and creating magical memories for them. Oh, and I’ll have no more baby weight!

I’ve never ever heard of Tea Collection until now, and my goodness, they have some cute clothes.
In 5 years, my hubby & I will have been married for just over 9 years. I hope we are out of this house – and in our permanent home. We will probably be done having kids by then (I’m pregnant with #2 right now) and just raising & loving our kiddos. My personal goal is also to be teaching in my own classroom by then. I graduated in 2009 with my Elem Ed degree – just in time for teacher lay-offs in my state. And for the past 2 years, the teaching market hasn’t improved. But I can’t wait to be doing the job I love!
In 5 years I want to be the most knowledgeable advocate for my now one year old with Down syndrome there ever was π and as an attorney in my life before kids I hope to go back to work at some point advocating for special needs!

I want to be moving on to our 13th wedding anniversary. I want to be raising our 3 or maybe 4 or 5 (eek!!) beautiful kids. I want to live and find joy and blessing in my job as a mother. It is not a huge aspiration but it is enough for me! and if I am really dreaming here, I want to be a kick ass fitness instructer and learn how to run a marathon! thanks again. In 5 years my twin girls will be 7 and the hubby and i will be 5 years closer to 40- yikes! I dream about doing crafts and baking with my girls and hope to be as in love with my husband that i am today.
Happy Anniversary! We celebrated 6 years a few months ago -it is so great and has gone by so fast but they have been the best years.
In 5 years I will be teaching and hopefully making a difference in the world. We will have a bigger house and so my kids don’t have to share a room ( I will have a 5 year old and an 8 year old – wow!) I hope to be busy doing things with my kids whatever they are into – ballet, piano it will be fun to see what they like.

Oh wow! I about teared up my baby will be done with high school. Sigh. Went to the beach today exact opposite of the gulf from you. When we drove over that hump of the road that meets the beach and WOW just like that the Gulf of Mexico. Waves crashed and we parked and my eyes welled up with tears and as I watched my 13 yo daughter run to the waves like it was her first time to see. I drank it all in and thinking of your family on the other side. Took lots of pictures and the sun was setting behind us. It was beautiful and magical. I am still on a high from it all.

My family just moved to Arizona, from Pennsylvania, and 3 years before that, from California, soooo…in 2016, I am seeing my 8 year old, almost 11 year old, and my husband and I living a fabulous life in the 115 degree desert weather, in our golf course home, hopefully fitting a trip to Tahiti in, a Hawaii trip, watching my son become a future professional baseball player, and my daughter become a beautiful dancer…My children inspire me, motivate me, and I have big big dreams for them and our family!!! Five years from now the crazy adventure we’re about to embarke on of moving our family to Ecuador will be old hat. My snuggly 5 week old, who is nursing as I type this, will need to get her passport renewed, and I hope she’ll have reason to. My oldest will be entering the teenage years and I hope we will both be handling it with grace. I’m trying to imagine her thinking about makeup and boys, but my head won’t go there. My sweet three year old will be a big boy of eight. My sweet bee who is starting kindergarten this Fall will be a young lady of ten. Beautiful story on BYU-TV last night. I was so happy to be on vacation at a place that we get cable — that is the first show I’ve watched in months, and it was perfect! I loved hearing your voice – now when I read your blog I put your voice to your writing…it makes it even more personal, which is amazing to do as this blog is like a chat with a friend each time I open up to read a new post.
Congratulations on 5 years – what a fabulous day to celebrate! We had our 10th this past spring & I couldn’t believe how much had happened in 10. With that – I know the next 5 will also be full. Full of exactly what – I don’t know. But I know that each thing we do, we learn from and that with faith, prayer and perseverance…all will work out as it should. If I could start on a few things – it would be to finally see dreams in our family come to pass – my husband to get a job working out of the country, and for myself/our family to start the papers for adoption. We have 3, but we just don’t feel complete yet. Other than that – we will try to breathe deeply each day, to not stress and enjoy the simple things in life. Your blog title states it perfectly – to enjoy the small things and live in each moment….as these moments zoom by so very, very fast!

In five years I hope to have added another two little ones to my family, i hope to have become an even better mommy for my son, I hope we have signed a new and BETTER contract somewhere in the world just as beautiful where we are now in sweden. I hope to have made some amazing new friends and to be living a life full of love with my family- sometimes the last can be easier said than done I suppose since so many end up divorced.. We have only been married a bit over a year and a half, so I hope we will still be as much in love as we are today!!

I hope that I will have my Graphic Design qualifications and perhaps have my own business…I hope we can buy our own home, or at least be close to it…I hope my three girls are so happy and healthy and that we are closer than ever…and I hope my husband is satisfied and challenged in his job, so that he can come home happy and fulfilled.

Happy anniversary! We celebrated 7 in June and it truly has flown by. In 5 years, I want to be doing more of the same, that is, loving my 2 girls and spending lots of time together as a family. And maybe adding another one to our brood?? And I love tea!!

In five years, I want to be spending my summer travelling around Europe before I start university in that autumn. I plan on visiting Russia with my friend, meeting her grandma who buys watermelons from the Georgia border and learning to say more than ‘hello’ in her language. Germany–Berlin, where another friend plans on moving as soon as she has finished school. Her mother is German, and that friend loves the cheapness & creativity of her mama’s city–I’m visiting. And France, Hungary, Poland… Give me an interail ticket and I’ll spend my summer going to all those places I’ve been dreaming of, three months between eighteen and nineteen, between sunshine and studying.
Yeah, I dream of the future a lot.

5 years? That is such a scary thought…my girls will be 8 and my mystery child will be 5! I really want them to be good, smart, kind girls. I want them to love life and care for others along the way. For me, I just want to be doing what I am doing now…loving my family everyday and working on our lives.
So much will change for us in the next five years….but only the superficial things…like our house, where we will live, and the ages of our kids. In five years, I hope to have our completed family of four children, I hope to be five years wiser, and if I’m lucky (and I’m pretty lucky) I’ll be just as happy as I am right now. Congratulations! You and Brett are so cute. 5 years scares me even though I know how fast time goes. In 5 yrs. we’ll have a child in college, a child in high school, a child in middle school and our youngest babies will be in elementary. And I see my husband and I being able to spend a lot more alone time together. And while that is awesome to say I also know it means our children are closer and closer to leaving us. Which makes me really sad but excited for their lives.

This summer I am preparing for my first baby to start kindergarten in the fall. In five years I will be preparing for my last baby to start kindergarten in the fall. I’m sure it will be gone in a flash so in the meantime, I will be savoring every moment.

Congratulations!!! Five years is so awesome. I love Lainey’s moccasins. They are so cute. And the coveralls. I just checked the site, they are out of my daughter’s size, but I they do have one size up… In five years? wow. Our two oldest will be out of the house, I mean really out, they both (God willing) should be done with college then. We have a ‘his, mine and ours’ situation. ‘Ours’ will be starting middle school. Writing this is making me start to tear up. Did you ever see the first “Sex and The City” movie when Charlotte confesses that she has everything she ever wanted and she is terrified? I totally get what she meant. All I can hope is that in five years we are just as happy as we are now.

On 07-01-16, we will be celebrating Canada Day (small town style, with my husband working his bbq magic for our family and friends to enjoy, followed by fireworks). We will likely have at least one more baby by then, making us a family of 5 (!)…and we’ll be one week away from celebrating 10 years of marriage together.

In five years I would love to have little farm instead of living in town. However if I am exactly where I am right now that will be more than enough for me. In five years my kids will be 13 and 11…..wow now thats crazy!!! I just pray that in five years we are as happy as we are now, and as thankful for the blessing that come everyday even if they are sometimes disguised.

Happy Anniversary!! In 5 years I hope to have graduated with my doctorate, and have a real grownup (is professor too much to ask?) job, quick before I turn 40. And while I’m at it, I’d really hope to have found love by then… 2nd time around… and have more babies. And whoa, in 5 years my little girl will be going on 16, so I hope we still have the amazing mama-daughter bond we do today.

In five years, my husband, myself, and our two kids will have moved away from where we live now and be living in a house of our own. For the past eight years, we have shared a house with my Mother-in-law (whom I ADORE and it has been wonderful), but I look forward to having our own space and filling it with things that are “us”. We will be somewhere closer to the mountains and the sea (or a least a nice river or lake). Just not sure where that is yet. But we will be happy.
We just celebrated our 10th anniversary and now we are welcoming our first baby any day now. In five years, I hope my marriage is much as it is now – fun and fulfilling – and that we have two kids running around the house and work that gives us both a sense of fulfillment.

Congrats on your first five years. My husband and I celebrate 5 years in September. We also have had two little girls in the first five. I love being a SAHM so in the next five I hope that I can continue to do this. I will have two in school by then, and perhaps we will add to our family once more in the next five years. I also hope to be happy and loving every small thing to happen in our lives. (I am typing this as two little girls are playing and gigling together, when they are 2 and 9 months it’s a rare occassion they are both giggling, and before I could finish the sentence one starts to whine).

In 5 years we hope to have our own beautiful plot of land in the U.P. (Michiganders here-snowmobiles are not just for enjoyment, but a way of life for us lol). It’ll be very similar to this year’s–family and friends laughing as they spill drinks trying to kiss cheeks and hug kids; temporary tattooing kids and adults alike; kids shooting water guns at dads; moms serving strawberry shortcakes, watermelon wedges and passing around pumpernickel dip bowls; red and white banners and maple leaf face paint; pizza slices eaten atop damp towels as we dry the river water from our bodies and devour our grub in the sun; paper flags snapping in the wind; a crackling bonfire at the water’s edge; an uncle plucking guitar strings while the aunt’s sing hippy, French-Canadian songs; kids chasing each other around the house; dogs barking greetings as more family members arrive; little cousins begging big cousins to take them waterskiing or tubing; grandmothers clicking away cameras over babies dressed in maple-leaf t-shirts and oversize hats; nephews conspiring to throw an uncle in the pool; nieces making sangria and ice cream cones; friends who are made out as such honoured guests that you’d think the Prime Minister had arrived for the party; a newborn sleeping peacefully in a great-aunt’s arm in spite of the noisethe shriek of childhood excitement when an aunt breaks out the glow sticks, whistles and sparklers; toddlers enchanted with firefly catching; a slightly slurred rendition of ‘O Canada’ sung as top volume to compete with the revellers on the other side of the river; a wonderful family reunion capped off with the booming and whizzing of a thousand colourful bursts of fire in the sky (and then the very distinct ‘MERCI!!!’ shouted from the other side of the river. Last night’s fireworks display by far the best one yet. It’s gonna only get better this family tradition.

In 5 years we will have been married 18 years and our kids will be 15, 13 and 10. I hope to find a way to continue to be a stay at home mom. I hope to still be sane with teenagers in my house. And I hope to be at complete peace knowing that I am doing 100% at my job of wife and mother.
In five years, I would like to live on the edge of a lake in north Carolina… A small dock, a medium sized boat, some grass in the backyard and a pool. It’s hard to imagine my now four month old as a barefoot five year old coloring with me at a picnic table, perhaps with a sibling or two in tow… Big dreams, we’ll get there!
In five years I’d LOVE to be able to say “my husband has been home for the last five years!”. Today he’s in Afghanistan, where he has been serving for almost a year. Two years ago he was in Iraq. In five years I’d love to see those members of the American public who have no ties to the military come together and support my community. I want said public to recognize that there are many reasons for wanting to end the wars, reasons MUCH, MUCH, MUCH more important then money. I know of two such reasons…my girls Gabriella and Adriana. Gabi is 2 years old, her father has missed 1.5 years of her life. Adriana is 2 months old and as far as she can tell, I’m her mommy and daddy. So, all I want five years, five minutes, five seconds from now is for the wars to end so my husband can come home!! I’m so proud of him for what he does. He’s our hero and we miss him so much.

Congratulations on the 5th Anniversary. It was our 5th anniversary last month and this was the first year we did have an additional child to equal # of years married to # of children in our family! We feel so blessed too! Here’s to another great 5 years together.
I can’t even imagine 5 years for us. We’re both in our 20’s and don’t want children..we love the work and community/travel life. Last year exactly, we stood on top of a lighthouse on the Eastern shore of Canada {New Brunswick} for Canada Day and watched the fireworks. Last night, one year later, I stood on a crowded street in the northern part of Canada {Yellowknife, Northwest Territories} and watched as my fiance marched in the parade as the biggest icon of Canada, The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP}. That was ONE year. In five, we’ll be in a completely different place in this country, doing something extraordinary. It’s exciting and scary all at the same time. ~To Love would be an awfully big adventure~

Nine years ago today I met my husband, and he bought me a slushie. He came home with one today with a big smile and a “Happy 9th year day we met anniversary”. Sheesh, five years. Well, Ben will be turning 15. The other two will be 9 and 12. It’s just so hard to think so far ahead right now for some reason. I hope in five years that they will look back and think of the memories we made together and never forget how much I loved them.
Where do I want to be in 5 years? I want to be happy. I want to be sticky and stinky with my 7 year old boy and (a girl can dream) 2 younger children. I want to be coloring on the driveway and licking ice cream off my sticky fingers. So basically, I want to be where I am today.

Happy Anniversary! We just celebrated 6yrs on 6/11, and I am amazed how life has changed and grown in that time! Who know what will come in the next 5, but I am praying we’ll have a little girl soon (we have a 2yr old son in my husband’s all-male-for-umpteen-generations family), move to our forever house in a few more years when Hubby finiahes his Post-Doc work and gets a job somewhere, and I hope we will have learned to be better gardeners and travelers. We dream of a huge veggie garden but haven’t yet committed to planting and caring for more than herbs and tomatoes each year. And we love to travel, so I hope that as higher-paying jobs near his future, we’ll commit more funds to travel so iur kid(s) will grow up seeing our country and world!

Five years from now seems so far in the future… and scary too since I will have two little school-aged girls living under my roof, with lives and friends of their own. I just hope that my girls and I can grow and cultivate the deepest bonds in the future, so that when they have something wonderful to share, need a shoulder to lean on, or a friend to laugh with- they will still look to me for that.

Congratulations on five years of marriage! It’s a wonderful milestone! We just celebrated seven years of marriage and are looking forward to many more years of fun together. In 5 years, our daughter will be 6 and thriving in school and life. My husband will have tenure and a huge research grant, and a small winemaking business on the side. And me? I’ll be continuing to walk that challenging work/family/life balance beam, but spending a little more time on the *me* side of things (exercise, hobbies, all those things I let fall by the wayside).

Phew…5 years from now I will have a 5 year old and a 9 year old. I hope to be “enjoying the small things” with my family. My girls and husband are the best things that have ever happened to me and make me the woman/mommy/wife/daughter/friend I am today. Happy Summer!

In 5 years, I will be married 15 years and can see another baby or two to add to our current family. Traveling, involved in my kids school, farming with my husband, living the simple life.

7/1/16…. Hopefully we’ll be right here in Hilton Head, SC on our annual family vacation. I’m hoping that we’ll have at least one other baby in the mix. Crossing my fingers for a girl but knowing in my heart it’ll probably be a boy (that’s how our families roll – all boys – which is fine.) I’ll be on summer break from teaching. We’ll be loving life, loving family and thanking God for all of it!

Five years from now I’ll have an almost-8-year-old (what!?!) and a 6 year old….and maybe a 3rd little, if we get lucky. I hope that I’ll have figured out what professional path to take, but if I don’t I guess it means I’m still happy just where I am.

In five years I will have a five year old. My baby is 4 months now. It’s crazy to think that in five years we will be preparing her for kindergarten. I hope to have another child as well in that time. I hope that my husband and I will still be going strong and be as happy as we are today. All I really hope for is a healthy and happy family!

Hmmm… 5 years from now… I don’t even want to think that far ahead because it means my kids will be 5 years older… My baby going to Kindergarten? My oldest will be 14? No thanks! LOL… in reality, I don’t know where we’ll be in 5 years but I DO know that we’ll still be a family unit, God-willing, and where we’ll be doesn’t matter so much as WHO we’ll be. π
I think life will still be as good as it is now in 2016. I will have kids aged 14, 13, 10, and 7. I can’t wait to see what they will be like at those ages. Life will be sweet. π

I want to feel like I am a little more successful at homeschooling, I want my garden to be huge, I want to still be in love with my hubs (will be 15 years by then), and I want to finally be able to say I never yell at my kids. & I want to be more kind.

In five years I have big dreams of being able to use the restroom without 2-3 of my children joining me, leaving the house without diapers, and family vacations where everyone can actually sleep at night. I can’t wait to see it all happen…and all the fun in between!
First of all, congrats to you two on your special day! Your love is inspirational and gives me hope that I may find something like that one day.
And that leads in to where I want to be in 5 years. I’d love to be married to a man who loves and respects me and my son (things just didn’t work out with his dad, unfortunately), and I’d love to have another little one or one on the way. I’m hoping also to advance in my career. I want to be working as a nurse-midwife or at least as a RN in the mom/baby field. Life’s good now, but I’ve got wonderful things to look forward to as long as I keep my head up, stay motivated, and am willing to put the hard work in and leave the safety of being comfortable (but unfufilled).

Everyday I think they grow more and more which makes me so happy to see but also sad knowing that before I know it, they will be leaving for college. I love this age.
In 5 years I would love to just know that my kids are happy. And being a military wife, I hope that my kids have some normalcy to their lives and aren’t greatly affected by moving around a lot. I also hope that in the next 5 years my husband and I continue to be best friends, we make a great team if I do say so myself.

We just brought our 27 week-er preemie twins home from their 2 and 1/2 month stay in the nicu. In five years I hope that they are healthy and happy and starting kindergarten. But we don’t quite know what the future holds for them. On Tuesday we have our first visit from a physical therapist…I’ve thought of you, and how positive your experience with your therapist for Nella has been. I’m really hoping we get a great therapist for our boys, too!
In five years I hope to be here, doing what I’m doing now. . .being a mommy, a wife, a friend. I would LOVE to be venturing on a super cool family vacation across the U.S. in a mini-winnie with my hubby and boys.

Five years, looking forward, seems like an eternity- but knowing how fast these last five have flown… it will happen in the blink of an eye π

In five years time we’ll be celebrating our 8th anniversary. Our boys will be 6 and 4.5 (and we hope to have another child or two to add to our happy little tribe by then). No doubt I’ll be shuffling little boys and their buddies to soccer and swimming, and I predict my fridge will be even more packed full, my floors even more dirty, and our vacations even more of a gong show. Where I want to be in five years time? Ideally I would like to be married (happily) and would like to be a Mom whether it be through pregnancy or adoption.
In five years I’ll have a 10 year old, an 8 year old and a 5 year old… so I guess I just want to ne sane! No really, I just want to be enjoying life, doing work we love and soaking in this season of kids in our home.

Whatever and where ever I know life will be grand as long as I have my loves by my side.

I hope we will have two children established in careers that they love (right now we have a son who just finished his first year of teaching, and one who just finished his junior year of college) and that my husband’s new business (he went back to school at age 50 to become a massage therapist, something he had wanted to do for over 20 years) will be flourishing. But, no matter what, I know we will be/have/do exactly what we are meant to/supposed to be doing, since God has a plan…..and He is a much better planner than I am……. : ) Thanks for this beautiful blog, I love reading about your family and looking at the amazing photos you take.

Oh, do you think tea has a pair of the painters overalls in my size? I not I will start dog earring the catalogue as well. In 5 years I hope to be on the west coast of Canada and also hope I have some littles to wear those cute overalls:)
On 7/1/16, I will be planning my twins’ 8th birthday and furiously stressing over all of the small thngs that I have to get done. I will most likely be sweating too and enjoying sitting in front of the fan. In 5 years, my husband and I will have just celebrated our 14th wedding anniversary. Maybe I will have been able to talk him into just “one more” baby. π If not, I will be working as a teacher’s assistant since my baby will be starting preschool that fall.
Happy 5 years! My hubby and I will reach 5 years this December! I want to be as happy as I am now…happy as a clam. A house would be nice, with a pool…but all I want is to be as happy as I am now…really that’s all.

Happy 5! It’s almost 10 for us, hard to believe. Never thought this is where I would be 10 years ago but I wouldn’t change a thing. By the time I’m almost 35 and my 15th anniversary is around the corner I hope to finally own a house and settle down with my family. Live in a nice sunny community with great neighbors and excellent schools. My dh would have a job he is happy at and I’ll finally figure out what I’m doing with my life. Tea, oh tea…so sweet and simple and chic. I have a dress I picked up end of last season sale in the closet waiting for my girl to wear when the weather cools down. Local boutique, Ruffles and Ruffnecks, carries them and oh how I fell in love. Would be such a treat to add another fine garment to my little girls closet.

I wouldn’t be surprised if we’ve fostered/adopted/birthed more in that span of time. I hope I’ll have Australian citizenship, and that we’ll be basking in THE LIFE here, while maybe thinking of spreading our wings to fly closer to home. Happy Anniversary! In five years I hope to still have to think REALLY hard to remember how old I am, and living in a place where my boys can go to school where I work.
Five years from now…. Five minutes from now is hard to predict, but with the grace of God we will be where He wants us to be. Loving life,each other, and maybe one more baby!?
In five years, Darin and I will be celebrating our 15th year of marriage! Henry will be 6 and a half and will hopefully have a sibling (I feel in my heart that someday he’ll have a brother named, Theo). Hope that my husband will be able to move on from his stressful job into something that allows him to leave work at work. Hope to be able to continue staying at home with my kiddos. If I do return to work, I picture moving forward and perhaps turing my volunteer position with Special Olympics into something more permanent. I’ll be close to turning 40 and hope to plan a trip to NYC with my husband (one city we haven’t experienced together).

Happy anniversary! My husband and I are celebrating 5 in August! In 5 years I hope to be raising 2 little babies into wonderful girls, be a few steps further in my career, and celebrating 10 years with my hubby with a fun get away trip!
Oh my goodness, in 5 years! Let see, you just made me realize in 5 years I will have a teenager, my daughter who is 8 now will officially be 13 and probably hate me cuz that’s what teenagers do, ha ha ha. My son will be 8, but I hope that they will still know how much I love them. I hope to still be loving on my husband as in 5 years will mean 19 years of marriage. (we started young, got married when we were 21 and had our daughter 6 years later) But that will also mean we will be 40 in 2016, GASP! Ok now I feel old. But I hope we will be happy and loved. That’s important to us and our kids come first. I hope to have traveled a bit more.
In five years I would like to see my healthy 7 year old and my rambunctious 5 and 1/2 year old playing in the yard of our own home. I would like to hear their laughter, while I am sitting next to my husband holding his hand. I would like to have my own business up and running. In the end though, just happiness — that’s all.
Getting my now 13 year old ready for college and dreading every minute of him actually leaving the nest. Taking my now 11 year old out for ice cream…while he drives. Reminding my now 5 year old that boys, (except for her brothers and Dad) have horrible cooties. Finally sneaking away on Saturday nights with my still hot Hubby because the kids finally don’t need us every second of everyday. And then of course, spending the night talking about our amazing kids and how far we’ve come in five years.
We recently stocked up on Tea items and we LOVE them!! My husband and I are actually getting ready to celebrate our 6 year anniversary (7-16) so, in five years from now when the month is 7 and the year is 16 I hope to see our children living vicariously and learning new adventures every day. I also hope to have completed my Master’s Program in Reading and Instruction!
Five years from now I hope my soon-to-be husband and I (getting married in October!) are still as in love as we are right now. I also hope there are a couple of kiddos running around our yard!

We’re celebrating our 12th anniversary this month – halfway to 25! (almost :)) We’re taking our 4 kidlits (8, 6, 3, 19 months)to Bermuda where we honeymooned 12 years ago and staying in the same resort. We sat on the beach and promised each other then that when we were halfway to 25 we’d take our kids back … can’t believe how fast it has gone! I’d still pick him over anyone else and 4 kids later we’re off! I keep telling my husband that it will be a little different than 12 years ago … :)In five years I hope to be healthy and happy and continuing to enjoy all the small things in my life!

In 5 years…. I want to have 2 more kids (DH only wants one more… but you know what they say – what the woman wants, the woman gets!), have a beautiful house and really… just be happy. Great family, great friends, great life. What more can you ask for?

I have been reading for a while but have not commented until now. Not a profound comment, but you might find it funny: I had overalls in the same exact style as Lainie’s, but in pale green corduroy. I wore them with white beaded moccasins, and a purple thin fake croc belt at my waist. It was 1981 and I was 16. They look a lot better on her!
Wow….We are celebrating 5 years on 10-06-11 and life has flown for us as well…two kids now too..3yo William and 8 month old Genevieve! And I am a HUGE Daily Tea fan!
In five years I want to be just where I am…with the love of my life, our two children, our dog and our great new “forever house” we just bought in March (of course I would like for a lot of the projects on the “to do” list for this house to be complete by then…Wish me luck)! My biggest dreams have come true…now I just want to live them out!

5 years, I’ll have been out of college for 2 years rocking my job as a nurse, and hopefully in love. Yes, definitely in love.
5 years from now….hmm well I hope to still be surrounded by my loves, that God will continue to give us health & happiness in our lives. I hope to have added many more beautiful moments to look back on and though I know you can’t have the sweet without some tart, I hope for the trying times to be few and far between.
In five years, we will be sending our littlest will be graduating from Kindergarten and we will be getting ready to be sending out oldest to college. Crazy to even think it. I hope to be in a new home and life to be just as great as it is today (okay, maybe even better).
In five years…. we will have moved back from Japan (we currently live there as my husband is a pilot for the Navy) and maybe living back on the east coast, closer to family… Either way, I know I’ll be right beside my husband/best friend and baby girl and nothing feels more right than that.
In 5 years, we’ll be sending our soon to be born daughter into Kindergarten, we will have a 7yr old and a 10 yr old. Wow! I hope to be still the stay at home mom that I am now. I hope we are all living as happy then as we are currently. I would like to open up an etsy shop or do kids art for profit eventually so maybe I can start there! π
In five years I will be starting the next phase with my husband, we will have finished his Ph.D (and yes it is a WE project) our son will have a sibling or two π and our overseas adventure dreams will come true

on 7.1.06 we were still newlyweds as well. on 7.1.16 we hope to be chasing a child or 2 and living below the mason dixon…we just keep dreaming and hoping.

In five years, hopefully have two beautiful and healthy children who have a heart for Jesus as a young age.
I will have finished school and be a registered nurse, hopefully having more debt paid off, and a enjoying all of life’s blessings!
My dreams for five years from now are to be a mommy of 2 children, I have one now,a batallion chief for the city fire dept, my photography up and running well. The most important is to look back on the past five years and not to have any regrets. To know that I lived life to the fullest!
we are also celebrating 5 years–this october. two kids in 5 years is quite a lot . . . but i wouldn’t change one bit, not even the gnarliest parts (:

We feel that the entitlement attitudes of today’s kids are the biggest problem of their generation (and the biggest concern of parents throughout the world)!
The new book is called THE ENTITLEMENT TRAP: How to Rescue Your Child with a New Family System of Choosing, Earning, and Owning. Tea is great! In five years? Well, we’re moving to a new state at the end of this month and as we look for a place to live, we’re discovering that we probably can’t afford the place we want to live in in five years. So, I guess I hope we’ll be in that permanent place five years from now. Among other dreams… π

Oh my goodness I can’t believe 2016 is only 5 years away! In 2016 I will be 5 years married, and I hope to have 2 children, and be more involved in my community (I just started volunteering at the animal shelter!) and to have some money saved up for an awesome family vacation.
my bday was on 7/1. had a fabulous time with no baby! he is 18 months and this was only my 2nd time out without him. we love Tea…it is a bit pricey but the quality of the clothes is worth it. hope you had a great 4th!
In 5 years, I’d like our family to be complete. I’d love us to live in a bigger, more comfortable house. And I’d love for both set of grandparents to love close enough for them to see their grandbabies frequently.

In five years – hardest question ever when I look at myself 5 years ago and would never have known I’d be where I am. π In 5 years I’ve become a mama and been on the most incredible, humbling, enchanting journey of my life with my now four year old bit of amazement. The next five years may not be as unpredictable, but its hard to say… I hope to be just as in awe of parenthood/childhood as I am today, but maybe finally get that garden started.
