a camera and a girl.

May 4, 2009 By Kelle

my camera and my girl. they need each other, they do.

she is my lense’s muse, and i don’t know what these two loves in my life would do without each other.

it’s just what we do. it is so natural and normal for me to hold that camera and take in her loveliness. and while i am finding a balance between obsessively shooting and not shooting enough, i can’t help but think i will someday be forever grateful for taking it in. from somber cheeks, blonde windswept tendrils and a cherubic profile that looks exactly like an eight-month ultrasound picture taped deep in the pages of her baby book…

to the little things not everyone sees that will someday be lost in sweet memories…
like the back of those fragile little shoulders and the way her tiny ponytail shows just enough of the nape of her neck to expose her precious faded birthmarks where grandma and grandpa kissed her in heaven before they sent her down to me.

and tastes of our weekend…

oh, the box. the box of endless entertainment. oh, how we love a box.

and da mamas…

there are so many things she loves that are just blatant little carbon copies of me. i love that she loves what i love. and i would be just perfectly fine if she didn’t, but there is just something so incredibly endearing about seeing your girl find pleasure in all the things you love.

so there you have it. i squished in a little of her sweetness in between all this busy stuff. another busy week ahead, but our “busy” is settling into a new calm as it’s working out quite grand and there is always time to enjoy the small things. feeling blessed and inspired.

Nothing sweeter than kids in Keds! Unless, of course, the kid has cool leggins on! Those two mommas…someday you must take a photo of the real young mothers in the same place with their high end strollers and sophisticated outfits pushing their real babies…it is scarey but it will be here in the blink of an eye. Savor the moments now!

those bloomers and leggings, that bathing suit, little ponytail, the girls pushin’ those dolly’s, lainey’s sweet smile behind the cardboard in that third pic…you kidding me with that one. i LOVE it!

cam’s ladybug is precious. i want one!

jeremy came home yesterday and exclaimed … “i can’t believe you took 450 pictures on the camera since last wednesday!” …
there is a funny line between capturing the moment and being in the moment … i’ve noticed. and i always think that you must just have that figured out. i guess we are always learning.
by the way … you should probably tell lainey that plastic baggies and babies don’t mix. 🙂

I LOVE those socks. You’ve got the coolest girl ever!

I know what you mean when you wrote about the back of her shoulders…I get that exactly. Because even now, with Darby at 3 and half years old, I love to look at the little teeny hairs on her arms…I just love that. I still can’t get over the smallness of children. They have everything like a grownup..just smaller.

(sigh)I don’t like it when they grow.

That picture of Lainey in the box took my breath away! WOAH! That could quite possibly be the cutest bathing suit I have ever seen. It makes all other bathing suits intimidated. Adorable.
    You inspire Kelle.

on the bathing suit: it’s a kate mack. they are dreamy little suits ‘cuz of the bubbly thing built into it. good for alluding to some meat on the bones for little peanuts. they carry them at cottontails here in naples, but i got ours on ebay for almost half the price!

Had something strange happen tonight. I put up your page to listen to the music as I cooked dinner and my son, sitting in my lap, said, “It’s Laney!” when the first photo of your Lainey came up! Our son has a friend Laney, but they don’t really even look alike! I didn’t really know what to say to him. : )

Love the super cool leggings! She is such a little cutie. I can’t get over how in one picture she looks like such a sweet innocent baby, and in the next she looks so grown up!

Oh, and I thought the exact same thing when I saw the baggie on the baby’s face. You know you are a mom when…
