a heaping helping of delicious sunday.

April 19, 2009 By Kelle

if saturdays are for getting your feet wet, then sundays are for plunging headfirst into the deep waters of enjoying the trillion little things that make up our happiness.

she wakes up earlier than the rest of the crew on sundays. and you couldn’t pay me to stay in bed…’cuz that’s our time. to quietly make a pot of coffee before we sneak out of the house for early morning adventures.

unshowered and baseball capped, coffee in hand, i drive…destination somewhat sketched in my mind but open for change.

…with a rearview mirror image of this:

and today’s early destination of this:

i love the beach in the morning. when the tidelines are fresh and the sand is settled and a new batch of shells has been delivered for the earlybirds to enjoy. and the true florida-lovers are out–a whole lot of them.

we were happy to be a part of it this morning and while the unpredictable waves made her a bit apprehensive to walk ankle-deep as i like…we settled for a dry walk in the sandhills. oh, there shall be many more of these mornings.

every one of them, of course, followed by donut indulgence.

where i leaned against the sunday paper stands with a fresh cup while she demolished a strawberry cream in just a few bites and some very sticky fingers.

and a trip to the library.
and then home to bask in sunshine and sprinkler water.

and homemade soup tonight.

sundays are delicious. just absolutely edible.

oh, good day! Ours isn’t as luxurious but just as fun. Laying in bed late, clean up form a giant dinner party last night, walk around the hood, cleaning out the garage, more dinner plans tonight. I love Sundays.

LOVE the rear view mirror pic. xo

ps What is Margot’s color? I just have no idea.

Our Sunday mornings also include donuts (albeit a bit differently). Starts with the promise of a donut used to stave off the, as of late, fits about getting buckled into the carseat. Promised donuts are then quickly shoved into our mouths while we are running late to church. hahaha! still…donuts on a sunday.

i like to chant in my head – “i’m a good mom, i’m a good mom” while I resort to donut bribery. takes the sting out. lol.

Isn’t amazing how much we do with our children before noon on a Sunday?? It’s one of the things I really appreciate about parenthood–seizing the day.

Our Sunday beach visit was much colder and grittier. How I long for warm water and clean sand! The husband and I have dreams of a Puerto Rico trip, but until then, thank you for the luscious photos!

And I love your shades and earrings!
