and the forecast calls for…

June 19, 2008 By Kelle

a blanket of looming gray clouds with the promise of a stay-inside-and-cuddle day: check.
enough coffee to make multiple pots: check.
a basket of tea-light candles to up the coziness factor: check
one super happy cubby who just begs to be kissed, cuddled and read to all day: check.

oh, it’s gunna be a good day.

bff, lylas, and ttfn

June 18, 2008 By Kelle

be it that i was homeschooled and never got to dot my i’s with hearts in my “bff'”s yearbook or “l” her “like a sister,” i’m a sucker for anything that sinks my maturity level back to the prom-I-never-had days (okay, so i don’t think i ever would have been “that girl” anyway). like e-mail quizzes (i say things like “i never answer these” when i send them back to make me sound far-above-this-nonsense cool, but secretly, i’m lovin’ it). with that said, i was, like, totally thrilled when dig this chick tagged me for following:

List seven songs you are into right now…tag seven other people to see what they are listening to.

songs i dig right this moment

1. viva la vida…coldplay

2. a case of you…diana krall from her live in paris album

3. colors…amos lee (i used to slow dance in the dark with ll to this when she was a newborn…took a rest from it and have recently revived it to bring back some major vivid newbie emotions)

4. carla bruni…anything (yes, the first lady of france! and the soundtrack to my french bridesmaid brunch day…one full of sweet, sweet memories)

5. just like heaven…katie melua

6. blackout….muse

7. frou frou…let go

do you like this post? circle yes, no or maybe. okay…that was dumb (but kinda funny)

oh, i forgot to tag! hmmmm….who’s gunna be on my dodgeball team? I’ll take the following:

Life is but a Dream
Love Wins
Life is Good
Ordinary Miracles
Life is a Box of Chocolates
Find Inspiration in the Everyday …and
Everyday is Something New

and, in case you didn’t catch that, “Life” is all of the following: good, a dream, and a box of chocolates…to boot.

nothing but ordinary

June 18, 2008 By Kelle

…another one of those days where…

…between preparing lunch for my friends for a mommy lunch date at our house (heaven) and crying on the phone to my mom tonight ‘cuz she lives too far away to be part of all the wonderfulness of miss cubby…
(conversation went something like this:
Me: “sob, sob, sob…but she’s soooo cool, and you can’t even see it…sob, sob, sob..
Her: “What? Honey, I can’t understand you.”
Me: “sob…sob…sob…I just wish you could…sob, sob, sob….see how great she is…ya know what she did today? …sob, sob, sob…”
…acutally a bit embarrassed about how ridiculous I must have sounded)
….anyway…between it all and the mundane fillers in between…it’s just another one of those days where i’m really glad i got picked for my life and that my basket of memories is gunna still belong to me when this is all said and done…

…going through a kissing phase right now, and seriously, what’s better than a kissing phase? She kisses her dolls, her stuffed animals, her blankets, her books, and tonight, I drew a doggie on the driveway with sidewalk chalk and she bent down and immediately kissed it. Hello. She belongs to ME. …and she’s just…so cool.

Paint, Baby! Draw, Baby! Create, create, create! Gunna start her as early as I can. Can’t wait to bust out the easel that’s packed up in the garage. P.S. This outfit was SIX DOLLARS from a new second-hand shop I found that ROCKS. (okay…so the jean jacket we already had)

So, at her 12 month appt., they weighed her, measured her and circumfrenc’ed her head, but I can’t get over why they didn’t measure her eyelashes. That’s protocol, right? ‘cuz I’m sure we would have gotten some sort of gold star of pediatrician approval.

…after bath fun with daddy and his baseball cap tonight. Everyone should be so blessed to witness the Brett & Cubby show…it’s quite magical, really.

Once again, I get to experience the magic of sweet littles today. Sweet Alan James and Lily Grace blessed our home with their presence. House full ‘o littles…nothin’ I’d rather have. Yup, it was a good day.

It’s late. I’m ready to go to bed…and as if my just-looked-at-magical-pictures-of-my-day-and-sweet-littles high wasn’t good enough, B just walked in, smiled and said…”how ’bout she sleeps with us tonight?”
…to which I replied… “I’m so glad I married you.”

the sweet breath of heavenly little awaits me …and her little body will fit our “nook” just right.

…enjoying the too-good-to-be-true things… ~k
