Double Jeopardy: I’ll take Happiness for $1000, Alex

April 8, 2008 By Kelle

Somewhere between her morning kisses and reading her “The Wonderful Sounds of Mr. Brown” before bed, I have a million moments where I stop and simply soak up her wonderfulness. Today, she’s a cuddle, just happy to be held…if only she knew the way she hooks her little arm around my shoulder and lays the palm of her hand on my back just melts her mama.

My random faves about Her Loveliness this week:

1) The way Daddy calls her “Toro the Bull” now because when she crawls, she “rakes” the carpet several times with her hand before she “charges.”

2) Her “mood ring” eyes…ranging from every beautiful shade of blue, green, turquoise and gray. “What color are her eyes today?” has become a frequent question in our house.

3) The Scream. It’s a happy one reserved for meeting her brothers at the door when they come from school. To anyone else, I’m quite sure “annoying” would be used in its description, but to us…it’s precious.

4) Her “woof-woof.” “What do the puppies say,” we ask? “Vfff. Vfff. Vfff.” is her reply. She our widdle Smartie!

5) Her one-finger-point. At everything. She’s discovering her world and pointing out all the beauties she’s learning about. And it’s magic to observe!

In other news…I bought this at Target today, and it hurts to look at it:

Still a month away, yes. But I’m taking baby steps to accept it. I’m happy for this celebration though because she’s becoming more beautiful and more amazing each day.

P.S. Happy FORTIETH Birthday to My Jennygirl! You make forty beautiful because you are beautiful, confident, and strong. Thank you for being an incredible example of a good wife, an incredible mother, and a lover of life. I want to be the best version of myself when I’m around you! Cheers to YOU! Love you!

isn’t that the truth?? one year old is so hard on a mom and so fulfilling at the very same time! it’s so difficult to imagine that it has been a whole year since my baby was brand new (and i imagine you are feeling the same way…)
i cried when stella turned one. as if the baby-ness would suddenly disappear.
that’s what pictures are for…they help you remember. highly recommend taking a picture of everything…including the way that her arms wraps through yours. i never got a picture of stella when you took her out of the carseat as an infant…she curled her legs just so. and cora…i never got a picture of this crazy mess of hair that she had on the back of her head…i was going to and the next day it had grown out and didn’t flip the way it did before!
