This weekend our small things came in beach form. And they were colorful–rainbow umbrellas, rainbow snowcones, red sails, green palms, blue water, orange push ups. It was a sandy little crayon box.
And it looked like this.
In preparation for all the things I love about Halloween and on, I’m working on cleaning up our home, our garage, my “things to do” list, my mind, my heart–creating space to grow and enjoy the people and activities I love. A marriage of peaceful and productive. So a short post today, but a fist bump to all y’all for a great week.

How I miss the warm sunshine and the bare feet. Moving north seemed like a good idea but your fall photos make me long to be back home.
Wells Blue Bunny ice cream! Made in my town-The Ice Cream Capital of the World-LeMars, Iowa! 🙂
such cute pictures:)
Beautiful, happy shots 🙂 Your beach photos always make my heart sing, especially now that we have flurries in the forecast!
A nice day at the beach sounds divine right about now! I’m looking at my weather thingy on my computer and it says 34 degrees..brrrr! But at least we are still snow free here in the Twin Cities! Just hoping it’s not 34 degrees on Halloween!!!
Kelle….
I love this post!! I enjoyed every picture…. Especially the one of Brett holding Nella!! Precious!! 😉
And, did I have to hop over at your Halloween article for All Parenting? Now this chocolate addict wants some candy!! Badly!! ;-D

I very rarely post comments but do read daily, this post has made me feel very much about the grass is greener feeling. As I read this blog post curled up on my couch with my baby (ok maybe she is 5, but always my baby) and blankets as it is a very cold fall day here in wisconsin. I am wishing for beach days and believe I should have been born in much warmer climate…yet you have leaves shipped in lol…..I guess I’ll take a tip from you and enjoy the small things, as I am snuggling my favorite person in the world! Happy Monday!

Such lovely pictures!! I can feel the warmth of the water and the sand in my toes when I look at your photos!! Its getting chilly here in Colorado and a part of me is jealous of your toastier climate. Although my boots, sweaters and scarves might look a little out of place on that beautiful beach 🙂 I always love reading about your sweet family. You put such a wonderful spin on ll of the small things, reminding us not to take anything for granted. Happy Fall, Kelle! From Colorado
This weekend was our family Campout! I love your pictures. I hope someday I can talke my daughter to a beach as beautiful as that one.
Seeing pictures of your kids on the beach and knowing Halloween is just around the corner sends my brain into a tailspin LOL – it’s awesome that you can do that, though!
Your article In Defense of Halloween was awesome. Growing up in the church there was that same emphasis on the bad aspects of Halloween, but my parents always allowed me to go trick-or-treating as a kid. I think it’s exactly like you said, and centering around the more fun aspects of the holiday doesn’t make you a bad person. Thank you for sharing that!
Jealous! Can’t wait for Christmas… We are doing our annual Marco Island trip!!!
Jealous of the fun beach day! But had to comment after reading your post on fall ideas. Holy adorable baby Nella and Lainey on the painting pumpkins picture!!
Thank you for your Halloween post! I grew up in a similar family and am also learning to take back the holiday. I bought my first witches hat this year; I’m sure you understand the twinge of guilt I felt, but I’m learning it’s good to reclaim those bits for ourselves. I can’t wait to take my kids trick or treating for the first time – it will be my first trick or treat, too.
now I want a snowcone…see the influence you have;) still thinking about that gorgeous ig pic of you and dash. framer for sure.
Looks like a pretty great weekend!
Carpe diem, my friend, carpe diem!!
I wish we had a beach close by! Crazy to think you can be at the beach this time of the year. It is 30’s and 40’s here!
Thanks for making my day. I just love your family photos. Oh my goodness Nella as a baby in those glasses. Cutest baby girl ever.
Danielle! I’m right beside ya! Hospers, IA. 🙂 Small world.

the well-traveled wife
Love these posts where your pictures tell such a sweet story!
Happy Wednesday from Tejas,
Melissa
you have such a beautiful family!
I have often wondered if I would ever see you on the beach near our house in Bonita. I wondered if I would have the nerve to walk up to you and introduce myself and thank you for all that you do and for what all you post on here.
Doc’s is a regualar hangout for us, so if I ever do see you there, I will just smile and be thankful that you have chosen to share your family with us. It has made me so much more appreciative of life just the way it is!
