One of my big Turning-40 revelations last year was that I’m so much more into self care now. Gone are the days of skimping on cheap underwear and falling asleep without washing my face. The jig is up–I’m a grown-up. I’ve earned the right to invest in some quality products and spend some quality time on myself. I don’t even call my morning and evening beauty procedures “routines” anymore. They’re rituals–ceremonies, if you will, of purposeful self care I look forward to–amped up now with a shelf full of products I love. I’ve always been a bit of a beauty and skin product nut, tearing out pages in magazines of new lipsticks I want to try, researching new creams and wandering the aisles of beauty stores, slathering lotions and smearing shadows. And these days, it’s so much fun because we have so many options! Back in the day, my grandma had basically two choices for beauty–cold cream and hot water. These days–I mean, all the aisles!
I’ve been pretty fascinated by the new CBD craze–it’s one of the hottest ingredients on the market right now. Both Brett and I have used CBD oil for anxiety, but the CBD benefits go beyond calming moods. CBD in beauty products? Yes, they have that! This year, I tried CBD to my beauty routine with NxN’s CBD Skincare brand–a multitasking moisturizer that seems to help balance face hydration and combats the visible signs of aging. NxN is the first CBD Skincare brand to be available at Kroger (this August!).
My favorite is the super-charged face mask (I love a good spa night face mask!) that feels like it’s penetrating deep into my pores to draw out toxins.
I love the anti-gravity day cream too–I put it on before my sunscreen and makeup, and it’s super luxurious. And no breaking out for me!

Great post!
I’d love your advice/tips for keeping your hair so nice after going lighter. I recently went blonde for the first time, and I am super paranoid about my hair being damaged, and I find it’s breaking more easily now. I have very fine hair, so I think that makes it even worse.
A lot of people don’t know the benefits of CBD! It has so many good benefits that people don’t know about! So thank you for this post, it was really helpful and now people have a better idea of some of the benefits CBD has!
Do you think the CBD helped with your anxiety? What did you use? Would love to give this a try.
I naturally don’t have major anxiety, but I do have bouts of it from time to time. I use a lot of natural things–including CBD oil–as needed that I think help keep anxiety away.
