Enjoying the Beachy Things

October 21, 2013 By Kelle

This weekend our small things came in beach form.  And they were colorful–rainbow umbrellas, rainbow snowcones, red sails, green palms, blue water, orange push ups.  It was a sandy little crayon box.

And it looked like this.

In preparation for all the things I love about Halloween and on, I’m working on cleaning up our home, our garage, my “things to do” list, my mind, my heart–creating space to grow and enjoy the people and activities I love.  A marriage of peaceful and productive.  So a short post today, but a fist bump to all y’all for a great week.

********

I’m at BabyZone this week with 10 Easy Fall Crafts for Parents and Kids (like our watercolor leaf garland below)…

….and over at All Parenting with In Defense of Halloween

How I miss the warm sunshine and the bare feet. Moving north seemed like a good idea but your fall photos make me long to be back home.

A nice day at the beach sounds divine right about now! I’m looking at my weather thingy on my computer and it says 34 degrees..brrrr! But at least we are still snow free here in the Twin Cities! Just hoping it’s not 34 degrees on Halloween!!!

I very rarely post comments but do read daily, this post has made me feel very much about the grass is greener feeling. As I read this blog post curled up on my couch with my baby (ok maybe she is 5, but always my baby) and blankets as it is a very cold fall day here in wisconsin. I am wishing for beach days and believe I should have been born in much warmer climate…yet you have leaves shipped in lol…..I guess I’ll take a tip from you and enjoy the small things, as I am snuggling my favorite person in the world! Happy Monday!

Such lovely pictures!! I can feel the warmth of the water and the sand in my toes when I look at your photos!! Its getting chilly here in Colorado and a part of me is jealous of your toastier climate. Although my boots, sweaters and scarves might look a little out of place on that beautiful beach 🙂 I always love reading about your sweet family. You put such a wonderful spin on ll of the small things, reminding us not to take anything for granted. Happy Fall, Kelle! From Colorado

Seeing pictures of your kids on the beach and knowing Halloween is just around the corner sends my brain into a tailspin LOL – it’s awesome that you can do that, though!

Your article In Defense of Halloween was awesome. Growing up in the church there was that same emphasis on the bad aspects of Halloween, but my parents always allowed me to go trick-or-treating as a kid. I think it’s exactly like you said, and centering around the more fun aspects of the holiday doesn’t make you a bad person. Thank you for sharing that!

Thank you for your Halloween post! I grew up in a similar family and am also learning to take back the holiday. I bought my first witches hat this year; I’m sure you understand the twinge of guilt I felt, but I’m learning it’s good to reclaim those bits for ourselves. I can’t wait to take my kids trick or treating for the first time – it will be my first trick or treat, too.

I have often wondered if I would ever see you on the beach near our house in Bonita. I wondered if I would have the nerve to walk up to you and introduce myself and thank you for all that you do and for what all you post on here.

Doc’s is a regualar hangout for us, so if I ever do see you there, I will just smile and be thankful that you have chosen to share your family with us. It has made me so much more appreciative of life just the way it is!
