I ran a quick errand to Target yesterday with the Nellabean–an in-and-out trip where I didn’t even need a cart. It was crazy busy and I found a line behind two other carts heaped with groceries where I waited and was soon joined by a few others behind me. I balanced Nella in one arm and my plastic basket in the other, full of the few things I needed which were far too heavy for a basket and I should have grabbed a cart, but this happens all the time and now, I just do it to prove to myself I don’t need a cart. Anyhoo, here I am standing there with all these people and my barbell basket and my sweet little kitten…and Nella rips one. Loud and long. Like the floors kind of shook. And I feel that rush of blood to my face and all I’m thinking is, “Oh my Gosh, they think it was me.” And I’m horrified. And wonder if I should say something. So I did. I did what every other self respecting woman would do and looked first in front of me and then behind and loudly proclaimed right there, in aisle 3…That wasn’t me. I thought it would be funny–like they would all laugh and think, What a funny little mom. But, alas, the people of Aisle 3 did not think it was funny. I got…crickets. No one smiled. And no one laughed. And I felt like a complete butthead.
With that out of the way, a sweet little video of Smiley Girl. And, I apologize…I sound like I’m audtitioning for a church choir. But I made up that song and, despite its churchiness, I was proud and Nella smiles every time I sing it to her. She knows its hers. She feels the love, man.
Prepare to swoon.

Didn’t laugh?! Where do you live…Seriousville! I would’ve cracked up. Love the video and the smiles. Nella’s so yummy!
how could no one laugh?! that is halirious!!!! i’ve been there too.. in the doctors office… what a funny day.. xo
ps. song video. ridiculously cute!
Kelle…
You now have my fiance singin’ “Nella Cordelia… I’m gonna Steal Ya…” over and over again.
– Shona. (Bendigo, Victoria, Australia)
P.S. She’s a doll!!!
R.O.F.L.! That is hilarious! Wish I was in aisle 3, I would’ve busted out a big laugh! 🙂 Love the video and you can see Nella loves her song! 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day to you!
Well, I laughed reading about it! LOL
Haha, I can’t understand why people wouldn’t laugh…I probably would have had a giggle fit. Thank you for starting my day off with a laugh…Gonna watch the video now and see if my smile can get any bigger.
~Mia
OK – maybe you were wrong…..SOME of those folks in Naples are a little uppity, hoity, toitey………but that was hilarious! YOU GO NELLA-Girl! Making us Nella-lovers proud – spread the joy (and the gas!) 🙂
Oh my word, I can’t wait to fly down next weekend and get some big scoops of that girl! Goal: Smiles for Poppa. I don’t care what self-deprecating gyrations I will have to employ, what strange voices I will have to conjur, what grotesque expressions I will have to muster–the girl is going to smile. And yes, my mental image of you is with more stuff around you than you need or can contain–remember, I saw that Teal Ford Escort Station Wagon that, at any given moment, could have fed a family of four for a week with its Burger King bun remnants, half-eaten candy bars, leftover McDonalds french fries…and then there were all the tubes and jars of makeup ends…so, if you were ever stranded in a Michigan snow bank, you could be well fed and…pretty! That’s ok, you can stand proud in it all. Lovin’ u.
Ok, I’m back, LOVED the video, she’s so sweet. thanks for all the smiles today!!
~Mia
The people who did not laugh must have souls of stone! I have been in that exact situation with my babies, and people always laugh!
What a cute smile! She is enchanting!
I would have laughed…right out loud!
First I love the song! I made a song for my son to the tune of “silver bells”! Oh the things we will do for a smile!! Second, my son did the same thing to me during his second day of life with a hospital room full of family and friends and try as I might no one really believed it was him and not me. Hope you have a very happy mother’s day!!!
I would have stated, loudly, “Nella, what did you do”? and followed it with uproariously louder laughter. and then when i got the crickets, for an encore..”Holy Moley, girlfriend, what did i feed you??? while waving your hand around her butt.
but that’s just me..
now visualize what i told you, memorize it and use it next time. because there will be a next time.
cindy 😀
well i was laughing just reading about it, had i been there i may have wet my pants, why should you feel like a butt head, surrounded by humourless stiffs Nella decided to lighten the mood….that a girl Nella…..I too am a big fan of making up songs for my kids, while some get giggles others get me this who-the-hell-are-you stare.
Liz
p.s. Im pretty sure poppa just described the contents of my car, just replace the makeup tubes with one of every pair of my babys socks….i can never find a matching pair…..
That’s hilarious! I totally would have laughed! Sweet video, she’s precious!
Super cute video – love baby smiles :).
If I was in aisle 3 I would of laughed for sure!! I laughed just reading about it!
I would have laughed with you! The same thing has happened to me, in Target, of course. I also wanted to tell you that I adore your blog. You are such a talented photographer and such a BEAUTIFUL mommy!
That video is precious! What a little angel you have there! And.. I would have laughed and winked at you in Aisle 3! People need to lighten up!
that video. oh lord. i cannot even stand how cute she is! i could just eat her right up! you truly are the luckiest mom in the world.
must not have been any moms there?? cuz i can’t imagine a momma not gettin her laugh on from that!! oh the embarrassment of little peeps!!
OMG, I would have bust a gut. When my little one was very little, I was scared to take her out in public ’cause she can pass gas like trucker…and I knew no one would believe it was the cute little tiny bean in my arms – they’d simply know it was me!
That video is adorable. Nella smiles are a perfect way to start a Saturday.
My 10 month old loves your song too. He crawled right over as soon as the video started playing. Isn’t it funny the little songs we come up with to make our kids smile!?!?!
,,,my guess is that the patrons in aisle 3 were hearing impaired,,i would have giggled until blue in the face and then announced “clean up in aisle 3”,,,she’s so yummy! (smile)
Okay I am DYING laughing here. Sweet sweet Nella!!!What the heck is wrong with people!? HOW could you not laugh at that? People without a sense of humor need help! Noah (Ds) is a pro at ripping them and the last time this happened to me was about 6 months ago. We were sitting in the waiting room at the doctor’s office and he was sitting on a VINYL chair and ripped one that I thought would never ever end. It sounded like a fricken trumpet. My daughter Sophie (16) was with us and she just leaned over and laid in her own lap and was laughing so hard she couldn’t breathe, and so was Noah. I was mortified at first and I just gave Noah that look. I look around at the 3 other families there and they were looking at me and Noah like “haven’t you trained him NOT to fart in public”. OMG THAT made me laugh, so there we were, the 3 Weikert’s laughing hysterically like monkeys from a circus. Fun times and a memory we will never forget!!!
stop it…i’m coming to steal her. xo
Oh my Lord that video. I could eat her in ONE BITE!!!!
Haha.. I would laugh – for sure..
Know that feeling!
…Adorable video ♥
We are laughing at the Target trip and oooo that smiley sweet princess is sweet enough to eat! YUM!
Who are those people and how could they have not chuckled at that?…I’ve totally been there. 🙂
What a sweet sweet smile. LOVE her little giggle at the end. PRECIOUS.
I don’t care how old you are, huge rips will forever be funny! My daughter Sunny rips them like a grown man (she’s 17M) and yep, we laugh every. single. time.
Love the video, she is TOO presh!!!
The song is adorbs & is now stuck in my head! But I can’t help singing
Nella Cordelia
I’m gonna steal ya
to the depths of my heart
where you’re gonna cut a fart…
xox
LoL!!!! you are so funny! and i totally love that video! you are a great mommy and nella is such a cutie! how can one not break out in smiles when a mama sings to her baby like that? you’re awesome, girl.
well…here i go… it seems so appropriate with mother’s day around the corner that i let you know how much you make me smile! i was given your link from a client of mine letting me know that your photography reminded her of me. ever since then, i can’t wait to get up to see what sweet gift you have written next…you are an inspiration! your words along with your beautiful photography are magical! (i have been using that word ever since we came back from disney…it really is!!!) anyway, just wanted to thank you for touching my heart so much every day! i am reminded to hug and love my kids a little more each day because of you!
Warmly,
Jenni
It never fails that when I read your blog I end up with perm-a-grin on my face.
Me and my two peanut butter cups would have been giggling at you and your NellaBean at Target. My babies rip ’em like old men as well.
Thank you for sharing your stories and beautiful photos with me (and everyone else).
I haven’t commented before, but I had to on this post! I too found the Target story hilarious–I’ve been there!! Sweet Nella, I love it :). Your song is adorable, Kelle. I have a few songs like that tucked into the memories from when my kids were little. It’s fun when they get older to pull them out again, brush them off, and make ’em blush ;). Of course, after the tootie fruitie Target story, I expected “fart” to work it’s way into the lyrics, somewhere after “heart”…
kelle…please tell Poppa to start a blog!!! i am a smitten kitten for him! his latest blog post was so beautiful, and his comments are so wise and lovely. he’s a kindred spirit 🙂

thanks for the smile, kelle (and nella!) and your tootin’ story, yup, got me crackin’ up! what is wrong with people? oh, well, they’re the ones missing out!!
and a girls’ night out, count me in! now, just gotta plan a trip down south … unless we meet up in mi sometime … ya never know 🙂
happy mother’s day weekend, sweet mama! sending you love, as always …
oh one more thing …
thanks for the sweet comment! i know you’re crazy busy, but when i saw your profile pic in my comments section, well, it just made my day!
i’ve missed you!
and the song, love it … reminds me of the goonies, like best movie EVER!
i’ll stop now, my little man is in my lap and he’s getting a little fidgety … i guess he’s done with his ipod game 🙂
Nella’s little smile is priceless. She is beyond beautiful…such a special little present and so loved…you can tell she knows and feels it. Thanks for sharing…the song was perfect .
As for the Target story…a hoot…really. Guess nobody was in a happy mood that day.

Oh Kelle… she is just gorgeous!
I’m yet to have my bubba boy rip it in public but I can assure you that my reaction will be similar to yours… and I’ll be expecting some laughter.
Wishing you blogged all the dang time because you’re too sweet.
I agree with the comment above… *chants* Poppa start a blog! *chants*

OMG!!! That video is just too cute!!! Your Nella is deliciously beautifull… I bet you just want to smoosh her some times!!
The story at Tagret… too funny! LOL!!! it has happend to me a few times with my little baby boy… But I have never apologized… I just started laughing… and other people too eventhough is an akward situation!! They are just babies!!
Thanks for sharing those sweet smiles! Have a wonderful Mother’s Day!!
Mine did that the other day in church….and even THEY laughed, so seriously, hoighty toity Naples Target people need to get over themselves and live a little! Keep being real. 😛 Not that you much had a choice! And glad you had a great time with Heidi….savor those moments!
Can’t believe those people in Aisle 3 didn’t laugh, I would have been rolling! Love the video, she’s a beauty!
Well, while the people where you shop may be incapable of seeing humour – it’s obvious that your blog has no humourless readers(!) – because every one of us so far, thinks it’s a hilarious accounting! I would have laughed when she ripped one – and then, hoped that you weren’t too embarrassed at my noticing!
What always amazes me is how those tiny people can rip one, that would make the biggest, burliest, construction worker, forestry worker, cowboy, soldier, or guy on the oil rig, proud of his accomplishment! 🙂
Love your Nella video. Your song is sweet – and her little smiles so much sweeter – even than candy floss!
Thanks for sharing…….Rosemary
What a lovely song for such a lovely little girl. Nella’s smiles never fail to make my day =]
My 9 month old son (who we call Noah bean) did the same thing in a packed Doctor’s office. Luckily, everyone laughed though. Then, he burped. If I had been behind you in line, I would have cracked up and suggested you get some bean-0 for the Nellabean.
I’m a fairly new reader. Love your blog and photography.
I make an art of filling every single nook of the stroller with stuff and balance the big things but try to hold the diapers so they won’t fall on baby. The funny part is when you get to the car with the load and see a $2 something you didn’t pay for and then debate whether you go back despite the fact said darling is already a bit overextended and hungry to nurse….there’s always next time!
The bagger at the grocery store noticed some plastic straws still in the regular cart this week, no toddler with me either as my flake excuse but I had my preschooler.
I love how you call her Nella-bean…so cute! I love the video too..sweetest ever! I love it when a baby lets one in church,it always makes people giggle! HAPPY MOTHERS DAY on Sunday…you are the example of the best of Mothers! Come say hi 😀
Adorable!
Laughing here and loving the video! C:
Nella Cordelia you are so beautiful, you are so loved~
“What is this precious love and laughter Budding in our hearts? It is the glorious sound Of a soul waking up! -Hafiz
This is so true! I love it. I’ve had the same dilemma in the middle of church, holding my Avery. Although, it wasn’t so much the sound as it was the stench! I didn’t blame it on the baby, as it WAS the middle of church, but I really wanted to! I’m still hopeful that everyone knew it wasn’t me. 🙂
Totally guilty of making up songs to sing to my babies too! Love those toothless grins!
Like everyone else, I’m loving the Aisle 3 story!! Believe us when we all say YOU weren’t the butthead; they were! My little heart-stealer Calla (Ds), who was born 10 days before Nella, rips them off like nobody’s business–unfortunately, usually accompanied by an explosion of poop!
My 2-yo grandon ripped one off in church when they were visiting us the last time, and he proudly announced, “I did it!”–resulting in muffled giggles from us AND the surrounding “victims”!!
The video–oh my!! Adorable just doesn’t say it. I think I’m the grand dame of little made-up songs like that!
My goal is to finally catch our little Calla smiling on my plain ‘ol Sony camera, which takes forever to actually “snap”–she smiles frequently but it’s always gone before I can catch it, even when I’m posed & ready.
Thank you for everything you write and share. I am 6 months pregnant with our second girl and even though almost every post brings me to tears…or sobs…you have made me realize that if this baby (or any future baby) is born with special needs, life will still be beautiful.
Just to clarify above–I can’t claim Calla as my own; she’s my precious granddaughter!
And that was my “grandson,” not my “grandon” in church . . .
What a doll!
I would have laughed. Come on, serious people!
I cracked up reading that… I would of laughed to make you feel better for sure! David has done that to me before too… I think most people understand its the babies, but its still embarrassing either way. 😉
Oh, and I loved that video. 🙂 Such a sweet heart who loves her mommy to the depths. 🙂 Very sweet. 🙂 Have a great weekend Kelle. 🙂
I totally would have laughed! I cracked up just reading about it! When my friend’s little one was only 2 weeks old and ripped a good one, and turned out not to have messed her diaper, her husband said “Full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.” Quoting Shakespeare for a baby toot! I would done that for you! 😀
I hate getting stuck next to strangers with no sense of humour! Once I was riding the bus and it stopped unexpectly and I grabbed the pole to stop myself but still managed to land in the lap of a stranger. I started giggling and apologized and said I wasn’t trying to hit on him. Not ONE person even cracked a smile. Come on! If you can’t laugh at someone who is laughing at themself, then you suck!!
People have totally lost their sense of humor!!!! I would have laughed my butt off if I heard that and answered you with a ssssuuuurrreeeee if you said that to me in Target! 🙂
Off to see your smiley’s video! 🙂

You never fail to make me cry!!! And my baby fever kicks up about 2000 notches when I see Miss Nella!!! I don’t think I’m done….. I think a #4 is in order. God willing! 🙂
Kristi
OK, love the awakening soul image…yes, we have an awakening soul just stretching and opening her eyes…but I swear, she was her before, she was here before–and this time, the visit is for US. Yes, and we have been awaiting her and her loveliness…
Your Target trips sound a lot like mine! Only, most of the time I go in for one thing thinking I don’t need a cart or a basket and end up with my arms full and trying to rangle a 2 year old!
That baby sure does love her mama. 🙂 I can’t wait for my new little one to be here… 8 weeks and counting!
Those people in line were NUTSO! You are super funny 🙂 I would have laughed!
The song? Perfection. And that smile. So delicious I can not even take it!
LOL! I totally would have laughed with you at that. I guess some things are just still taboo.
and oh the video of Nella…swoooon! What a sweet little thing. I love the little song you made up too, that’s adorable. I love her little laugh at the end. I just want to grab her up and snoogle her!
Okay I had to watch the video, like, 5 more times. She’s just intoxicating!
same thing just happened this week at CHURCH during the sermon. so I laughed out loud reading your post. mothers of publicly-tooting- babies unite!!
that video was priceless!
Oh, I didnt realize I was leaving a comment over there, but that was me. Also I posted it before I meant to. My six month old ripped one in church when he was little, and I wanted to badly to stand up and tell and the people giggling in their seats that IT WAS THE BABY. I swear!
I would have laughed. My boys are known for doing that to me. Love the video she is sooo cute. Good to know that I am not the only mommy who makes up songs for her babies.
How rude of those people not to laugh!!! I love talking to people in line at the store..they are missing out.
I came across your blog from a link somewhere lol.
I would have cracked up. I’m silly like that though. Nella is a doll baby! She’s so pretty!
Hey! I got to your site from my etsy traffic sources! Your photos are all so beautiful! Love your site! 🙂 Id love to send you some of my headbands for your cute little girls if youd take pictures and do a reveiw on your site for me!? Let me know! http://www.Sugarandspice1.etsy.com

Thank you!
This made me laugh out loud!!!! You are amazing. Nella is beyond adorable.
This made me laugh out loud!!!! You are amazing. Nella is beyond adorable.
I so would have cracked up at Target… how could you not?!? Must have been a tough crowd day in aisle 3. Love the video… her wink at the end is priceless!
Oh man, Nella sure has got it down on how to embarass her mama perfectly. No one laughed? I would have been laughing from the very second it happened! I think, while it would have been embarassing for me too, I would have been laughing so hard I wouldn’t have been able to tell anyone it wasn’t me, so they would have just assumed & thought I was nuts.
Oh, her song you sing is beautiful and so is the smile she beams when you sing it. She just knows its for her and you see it slowly creeping up until she can’t hold it any longer.
That’s so cute! And your singing voice is very nice, too. Have a great weekend!
Does it help if I tell you I laughed me ass off reading the story – not in aisle 3 – but in my basement in Winnipeg Manitoba?
Oh come on…what’s wrong with those lame-o’s?!! Baby-toots are hilarious!! And dear lord—her sweet little grins at mama’s voice?? Swoon is right girlfriend, swoon is right.
I laughed as i read the post thinking i would of done the same exact thing. except i would of busted out laughing in public then said something, and if i was the one in line behind or infront of you i would of laughed even harder wondering if it was the mom or baby that passed the gas. haha. I love the video so cute. 🙂 have a great weekend
sweetest. smile. EVER.
her little giggle at the end just about melted me. thanks for sharing your gorgeous littles with us!
I’ve had to do the same thing standing in line…alas, it was my husband! 🙂
I was having a pretty crappy day until I read this and heard Cyndi Lauper rocking in the background. Thanks for the ‘pick me up’!
kelle, your little joke was totally cute and funny!
what a bunch of tight-asses that they didn’t laugh…
but seriously, i’ve been reading since nella’s birth story went viral, she is precious-delicious-lovely, as is the rest of your family…. that little video of the smiles and giggles is adorrrrbs!!!
keep writing, you have a great voice!
xox,
Could have pee’d my pants laughin’.
Could have pee’d my pants laughin’.
Yep… how could they not laugh! I mean… ANY normal mother would have done the same thing!! 🙂
OMG!!! how could they not have laughed!! Kids pick the best times to just “let it all out” don’t they?! I laughed just reading it:)
Love the little song…brought tears to my eyes when she smiled!! Nella is just the cutest little girl ever!
I totally would have laughed and then given you a hard time for blaming your cute baby! Happy Mother’s day!
That has got to be the SWEETEST song I’ve ever heard!
LOL!!!!!!!!!
“I got…….crickets.” You totally crack me up!! I thought I couldn’t smile any harder until I viewed your video!
Oh. My. Goodness! She is so precious! Thanks for sharing her smiles with us.
I am on top of the world now. Just want to dance…maybe it’s Cindy Lauper making me want to do that.
Nope…..it’s the post and video. Hands down. ; D
HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY!!!
First of all, I tried leaving you a comment a couple posts ago. (I think the pool post.) Something about how I haven’t had an instant cry fest over a picture/commercial/TLC show in a long time…but when I scrolled across the b&w side profile pic of your husband holding and scrunching his face up at nella…it hit me. And I sucked a big sob back. It was just so sweet. Thanks for having such a sweet family.
And, my husband and I LOVED that grill commercial when we first saw it. LOVED it. Shouldn’t we all have a zeal for life like those people!
Happy weekend to you, my favorite Floridians!
Tiff
Oh, I would have laughed. Of course I have two boys so I have learned to just laugh it off. HAHA
Thank you for sharing that gorgeous smile, her eyes sparkle when she smiles. Love it.
Sissy
Too funny – it has happened to all of us. I love your song and Nella’s smile!
Too funny – it has happened to all of us. I love your song and Nella’s smile!
LOL! That’s awesome! As mom to 4 Littles, I have done the same thing, “Oh Baby, you are so stinky!” ::I have also been known to accidentally poot in public and blame my newborn as well:: Oh the joys of postpartum recovery! 😉
You must have been in line with some grumpy people! I totally would have cracked up had I been there in line with you.
Love the video… what a sweet little song for your sweet little girl, and a pretty voice too.
I admit I laughed when I read your post…so I’m surprised that no one even cracked a smile in Aisle 3! But potty humor goes a long way at our house. Between my husband and son, what can a girl do but point fingers! Bwahahahaha!
Anyway, I love your Nella-song. I used to sing a song to Gabe using the Spiderman theme song. (The original not Nickelback…LOL!)
Love your baby girl’s smile! I have to say that watching your video makes me miss my son’s baby days SOOO much.♥
Thanks for sharing that video. It was very sweet 🙂
What an adorable little video! Nella is absolutely beautiful. and i LOVE the name! 🙂
once…in a video store..10 year old nephew..ripped one..can i just say deadly but silent..you get it…he leaves me in the middle of this rotten egg smelling bomb of toxic gas with everyone thinking it was me…i die of shame…he laughs the whole way home. boys are so gross.
hey..no crickets for smiley girl..how about a standing ovation and rave reviews..that girl is gonna teach you a few things for sure!
have a wonderful mother’s day kelle…my girl and I have a date at a dance studio..we are going to twirl the day away…i see some fabulous pictures in my near future! oh how i love mother’s day!
lol, yr funny 🙂
I’m laughing so hard I’m crying…My first daughter was lactose intolerant and used to fart all the time, long, loud ripping farts and I was totally embarassed about it. Here was this gorgeous blonde haired, blue-eyed baby, so tiny with the most noxious ass ever…If I had been there, I would have turned around and blamed the first old person in line behind me….LOL…
Nella Cordelia, I wanna steal ya…she is too, too precious. Love every minute she is in your arms….time is so precious.
Dying laughing – something about bodily functions that brings out the best in us! I’m sure the other customers were all “um, right lady, that couldn’t have come from the baby” – which of course they couldn’t say out loud so best to stay silent! Too funny – I’m almost embarassed I’m finding so much enjoyment from your child’s gas!
;o) Love the smiles – so on purpose and composed. what a sweety!
Alison
Haha…don’t you hate it when you say something that you are so sure is funny & no one laughs? I hate the awkward silence that follows. You just want to reach out and grab the words and shove them back in your mouth. For the record, that’s hilarious & I would’ve been laughing right along with you.
Oh, and what a cutie!!!!

I can’t believe that no one laughed! I would have. Love the video, so did 6 year old who watched it with me 🙂 She is a doll.
My Seth did the same thing at Church once during prayer time. I wanted to die… Could not just annnouce that was not me:) Still laugh about it:)
Love Love the video:)
Been there! lol…
I would have totally blamed Nella, haha. I would have been like, “oh my! such a loud sound for such a small girl.”
And the video was adorable!
Ahhhh ha ha ha! Well I’m laughing! That is awesome.
Gotta hate those crickets.
I fell down an entire flight of stairs on cruise ship once (like, sliding on my butt as if it were a sleeping bag or a strip of card board – for 20 stairs or so) and NO ONE saw me! I looked up from the ugly patterned carpet dazed and ready to have a good laugh with any onlookers, but alas, there were none.
You’d think I would consider myself lucky that no one saw, but really, it was more awkward with the crickets… I just knew there were surveillance guys laughing their A’s off in a tiny room somewhere…
Beautiful song! I love it and I love how Nella knows it’s all for her 🙂
Hahahaha. Kelle, too funny! How could they not? Grr
Hahahaha. Kelle, too funny! How could they not? Grr
Awww that video is precious!! She is such a little sweetie pie!! Your target story was hilarious!!
My husband and I CAN NOT believe nobody laughed!!! I would have peed myself- seriously!
very very very cute video ♥
Sweet, sweeet! Gianna’s song is “I’m gonna get that baby… I’m gonna get that girl… I’m gonna get that baby with that little forehead swirl!” She was born with a little cowlick-y swirl thingy in her hairline. 🙂 Oh the silly songs born out of our luv!!!
PS: I too am guilty of blurting an “It wasn’t me!” after a diaper sound effect. 🙂
what. Farts are funny, especially the little baby kinds where you think how could a precious little thing like that possibly make such a noise.
Ok another questions for your FAQs how do you do the “you might also like” section at the bottom of your posts
And hmmm now I get even more lost into your blog with all that extra sweetness to skip through
Thanks x
I LOVE the video…simply heavenly that smile. And tell those hoity toity Naples people to enjoy life a little! It’s only slightly better than when my baby girl did that last week…in CHURCH. Nice, huh?
When that happens to me in public, I usually avoid eye contact with everyone and say loudly (looking at the baby) “Oh my, say excuse me Nicholas”….which is my attempt to get across the point that it wasnt’ me. But I like your response a lot better – made me laugh out loud!
Happy Mother’s Day tomorrow. I can tell from your pictures how much your little girls love their Mamma, even if they aren’t old enough to tell you just how much. Enjoy your day outside together.
And one more thing – I took my favorite picture ever of my 3 year old today…melted my heart. Got the natural lighting just right and focused in on his eyes, everything behind him was a blur and it was a close up of his face in the tub. This is one I am going to blow up big and treasure forever. I was thinking of you today when I grabbed the camera, THANK YOU KELLY for inspiring me with your photos!

I LOVED that! Thanks for letting bunny make us SMILE!
Okay Kelle we have watched and rewatched that sweet video so many times that my girls sing along with you!
…..to ‘the depths of ALL our hearts’ ~ oh sweet wee Nella!!!
It was a Double Portion of smiles between “videos and shopping lines” Kelle! J.o.Y.f.U.l. :o)
God’s Blessings this night to your Little Nestlings.
Barbra.
OMG…. your Target story is HILARIOUS!!! made me laugh. And your video- PRICELESS. catchy little tune.

How precious! I just love Nella’s wink back at you at the end of your song! She is such a lovely baby!
I would have laughed!! I think it is so funny when our little ones fart and we think people think it is us. It is one of the joys of Motherhood. 🙂
I love the song you made. It is adorable. I have songs for all of my children too. Nella’s smile is so adorable. She is too precious.
So so cute!
She’s fabulous! Maybe they didn’t laugh because they are the moms who let them rip, then blame it on their kids…probably thought you were doing the same. And really, who cares anyway, we all do it and it can’t be helped. So all you non-smilers out there, remember that, for it may be you next time!
Absolutely beautiful!!
She definitely feels the love. It’s gorgeous. Thanks for sharing. As for non-smiling people in an aisle.. it says more about them than about you. You rock!
I had my first in March. A little 36 week preemie who spend a week in the hospital. He smiles like crazy too when I sing a silly little song I made up to the tune of Frere Jacques with his name in it. It’s gotta be a baby thing. They just love it.
This is my first Mother’s Day with a baby in my arms. The House of Motherhood is such a unique and beautiful place. Thanks for your beautiful words. I have yet to read a post without crying tears of joy, especially the farting in the grocery store post.
Ah, people these days have no sense of humor!!! I would have rolled!!! Nella’s smile is infectious, so precious!!!
I listened to your song to Nella yesterday and didn’t get to post a comment so hear I am a day late- oops!!!! I love it!! We make up our own songs in this house- we march to the beat of our own drums AND LYRICS too! Nella’s smile is one in a million!!!! Thanks fo sharing your little snippets of everyday life!!! Of course now I have the song in my head so I’ll be singing it all night too!!!
well we’re all laughing!
Oh that smile!!!! be still my heart!
It its any consolation, I laughed when I read what happened. I’m sure I would’ve laughed in person when I saw your face looking for a laugh. Or who knows, perhaps I would’ve joined Nella! : ) Loved the video. Such a sweet song and an even sweeter smile from your precious angel!
Ah that video! She is just something that little peanut. I love your song. Love your heart.
How can you not appreciate flatulence, truly, I think wars could be avoided with flatulence. My hubby spent a few days in hospital last week and much to my initial mortification went to sneeze and instead farted, loudly, in a shared room of 4, with little old ladies, old men and children present. The lady across from him who unfortunately was suffering from diarrhea (among other things) pipes up with “I wish I could do that” to which the whole room cracks up and the old man adds “better out than in”. It took quite a few moments for everyone to recover and I am still amazed the nurses didn’t come to see what all the noise was about. I thought later what an awesome moment it really was, a room full of sick people with various degrees of illness including cancer, lung and heart disease all having this moment of pure unadulterated laughter, an instant when all else was forgotten.
They are real life moments, better out than in.
Loving your blog

hahaha…I love this, it is so something I would do, then duck my head, blush and talk to my baby as if I didn’t care that the room was dead.
Next time, say, “That was me,” and look right at the person behind you. When they just stare at you, keep nodding seriously and say, “That was me. Really. Honest. I hope it doesn’t smell.” Sometimes I just feel so sorry for people with no sense of humor.
🙂
LOL…people need to lighten up. My 16 month old did that in a restaurant once. I blamed it on daddy when one person turned around. I thought my husband was going to die…lol.
All I have to say is the people in Aisle 3 are LAME!! Hahahahaha! This is what I needed on a Monday morning . . . after I had to drop my two littest ones off at daycare (I hate that!), and then I forgot my beloved coffee! I needed to laugh so hard that I cried! Thanks for that! It made up for finding out that the dog peed on my carpet this morning!
a) too funny about Target and Nella
b) I like your song – so sweet, and her smile is contagious!
I am certain that I need a grown up version of Nella’s black and white polka dot hat with the red flower! Is it from etsy?
I would have laughed. I did as a matter of fact!
And that video was too, too much! Little Miss loves her song …
I would’ve thought you were hilarious! It was worth it, though, right? For your readers’ sakes?! Thanks for the laugh!
I can’t belive no one laughed! Who are these people? I would have laughed and made a joke about how kids like to do these funny little things just when we are at the point we need a good laugh. Anyway, I’m glad I am not the only one who sometimes doesn’t know what to say and ends up saying something and worrying maybe I shouldn’t have said anything. But in this situation…I would have totally made a joke too. Or looked at the person behind me like…”I can’t believe you just let one rip in public?!?!” That would show em!
OMG! How sweet was that song?!!!!
I love your song and the reaction gives you. It is so cool that she is giggling in response to you. She seems so young for that still. Kudos mama!!
Okay – why can’t I get this song out of my head?? 🙂
AH HA HA!!! I certainly would have laughed my heart out!!
LOVIN’ the video!!!

I thought I should tell you that I had your Nella Cordelia song stuck in my head all last night hahahaha!
My mother is a HUGE Lucille Ball fan and when my younger brother was a baby, she sang him the following song to the tune of the I Love Lucy theme song:
I love Nicholas and he loves me
We’re as happy as two can be
Sometimes he fusses and then…
We’re best buddies again and again (repeat until Nicholas falls asleep)
Yes, incredibly corny, that is what mommyhood does to one! I love your hymnal lullaby!
God bless
I read this post a couple of days ago and ever since I keep getting the “Nella Cordelia” song in my head. Great song! What a sweet precious gift you have received!
I find myself laughing and crying all within 2 minutes. I love the video and song. I have my special song for my LO. Now I need to record it as you have.
I would’ve laughed for everyone!
