So I saw a link on Facebook this morning that led to a book with my name on it, and I had to laugh. I didn’t know it was out there yet–there, of course, being the vast land of Internet Kingdom. But there it was, so I wanted to share it with you.
From the horse’s mouth (and I do have big teeth)…
A memoir about perspective and finding beauty in the unexpected:
Bloom will be available in April, 2012 from William Morrow, an imprint of HarperCollins. We have lots of fun to entertain us until then. Like sisters who dump old Christmas cards in our front entrance and play with them all morning.
I’ll keep you posted when it gets closer, but I do want to thank all of you for sharing our journey. It makes it extra special, and this book truly wouldn’t be possible without you. Surreal, really. So, thank you. That is all.

I want to hug you today for two entirely different reasons. I am so excited for your book and cannot wait to celebrate the beginning of my 35th year enjoying it! April is totally the best month of the year! It’s already my favorite book! 🙂
I LOVE the title, too. Since Nella’s Bloom Where you are Planted birthday, I’ve thought about a similar boy theme, and the best I could do was Let your Little Light Shine. Fitting, because Jack’s our Yankee Doodle Dandy, but the girl version’s much cuter!
And I read last night’s post this afternoon, as well. You inspire me in ways I’ve never experienced. Your passion and zeal for life and love and family are unmatched. You are truly an amazing lady! I am so sorry for your loss but happy to hear that you are well. I just love your oft-described theory on heartache and how it stretched your heart out to accept more joy, more love, more fun. This next baby is sure going to be joyous, lovely, and FUN— whenever s/he decides to come!

Your blog was small and more of a vehicle to communicate with family, it seemed, prior to Nella’s birth. How wonderful that you had it in place to share your story and your families journey. It was meant to be. You have been a beacon of light for those that have special needs children and a wonderful role model for all mothers. I have two children ( 5 1/2 and 1 1/2)and struggle with the simple joys of the daily tasks but realize, through your eyes, that it doesn’t need to feel so much like work.
You are so excellent at nurturing. Bless you for being out here on the web for us all to access.

I love love love your blog and am so excited to see you have a book coming out. Your words are beautiful, inspirational, raw, and moving. I have 3 kids and my youngest is about a month behind the lovely Miss Nella. My oldest, has a heart defect and we have been through many surgeries and lots of therapy, so your stories hit close to home. When you talk about that brick wall of emotion hitting you at times, and the reflections of both optimistic and pessimistic feelings sometimes clouding your vision of the here and now, I…I can completely understand and it makes me feel less alone. So thank you! And keep on writing!

Keep changing the worlds perception and perspective.. i was at target the other day with my 3 yr old-Sadie. her and I look at your blog and pictures. she saw a blue, red swimsuit with white polka dots and said “mom-this is Lainey’s swimsuit” like they were best friends :).

So I’m not a writer. I always hated english growing up but I just wanted to let you know that I really appreciate your blog. Sometimes I read your blog and am (for lack of better words) disgusted that your life is so perfect. Then I read the What to expect article. You have had a lot of downers in your life and yet you have such an amazing attitude. Your writing skills and your outlook are amazing. I get overwhelmed with my kids (twins who are 5, one of which has Ds, and an almost 3 year old). Anyways, thanks for reminding me that even when things are hard and rough…they can still be appreciated and enjoyed. I needed the reminder. Thanks!
Also, I didn’t mean for the disgusted remark to be rude…although it probably was, it is just nice to know that even though you do have hard times you are so positive and you really do enjoy the small things. Thanks again for the reminder.

I don’t know you, and you don’t know me…but I have to tell you, when I read your post about your book, I beamed with pride. I have followed you since shortly after delivering my son (he is just about two months younger than Nella)…and have introduced anyone who will listen to your blog. You are an inspiration, an amazing woman, wife, friend, MOTHER, daughter, sister, etc…I can’t wait to read your memoir! Thank you for making me take a moment to “Enjoy the Small Things”!!!!! Oh Kelle, I am so sorry to read about your miscarriages. I too have an angel in heaven and in addition struggle tremendously with infertility. We never know that life is going to throw us these curve-balls but they always teach us something about ourselves whether it is patience, strength, etc. I wish we could all have a magic wand and make what we desire in our hearts happen but I guess not having one is what makes life the amazing thing that it is! I never buy books at full price. I always find them in the book store, hurry home, log onto Amazon or BN.com, and find it at a discounted price. Usually used, but in perfect condition and at a fraction of the cost from the bookstore.
Your book, however, I will be eager to buy at full price as soon as I can get it! I know it will be worth every cent… seems like so far away til we can get it, but so excited already! 🙂

I am not a big book reader, adult books that is. It’s not because I don’t like to read or that I didn’t used to read, but because I have very few moments in the day to do anything by myself that requires my full attention. I read a ton of The Baby’s board books, but when I try to read mommy books after her bedtime, it will be my bedtime shortly thereafter. That being said, I will most definitely buy and read your book!! I can’t wait to get my hands on it and make time whenever possible to soak in every single page. How exciting it must be for you!! I can’t wait! 🙂
