June 2, 2009 By Kelle

so, summer is here. officially tomorrow with the last sounds of the school bus’ screeching brakes outside our house…and the beginning sounds of kids in the pool.

…and while the school year gradually fades, our isle of capri summer sundays slowly flourish.

i need this place. and when the week is over and we’re completely exhausted from a busy saturday, there is nothing more refreshing than traveling the 45 minute quiet drive to our little solace. i enjoy the drive almost as much as the island itself as, on the way there i read and jot things in my journal and on the way home, after the sun has set and our sun-worn girl quickly falls asleep, i close my own eyes and take it all in.

and this new summery concoction of seedy, lemony frozen froth they conjured up special for us is reason enough to travel the 45 minutes

i can’t imagine the memories she’ll have growing up here…oh, the thought. happy sigh.

…and the dogs. the dogs. they run free and wild on the island, and she befriends them all.
…and, am i crazy, or does she have the exact same expression as that dog in the upper left picture?

lainey and i are a bit sick today…enjoyed some homemade chicken noodle soup and 7up and lounged in our jj’s for a long time.

inspired by little bug’s bonnet, we thought this sweet little reversible thing would be perfect for isle of capri sundays. i’d like to say we got it for the noble, motherly reason of sun protection, but the cute factor so trumped everything.

get one homemade, on etsy, here.

…and while i am working on a few creative projects (new bedroom paint colors picked, road trip destinations in the works, summer giveaway linen stationery almost finished, and some lainey art projects for summer planned…whew. ) words currently fail me as i am so very tired and have to prepare our bed for a possible night of sick baby wakings.

so just happy thoughts…

…and love.

The Basic Black Dress…already! Love it. Yes, having the Isle of Capri in her childhood will help to allow her to be capricious, creative and confident. She will probably change her name to Wildflower, dance in the rain and be the center of every gathering she graces…sort of like mom, continuing! Love the post, feels like I can reach out and hug her.

Oh boy have I missed out on some good stuff…The bonnet! Yay you. Hope you used the dig discount? LOVE it. And, the cute factor is there and the greatest sun protection she can get. It’s perfect on her.

…and, am i crazy, or does she have the exact same expression as that dog in the upper left picture? Holy hilarious. yes!

I want to go to isle of capri. Do you have to wear capri pants? Because I don’t look good in capris.

    Loving catching up…
