Working on sprucin’ up the blog a bit, so pardon anything that looks a little funny. In the meantime, there’s some new tabs up top with some F.A.Q.’s and photography stuff. Also, the clip for the Rosie interview can be found now under the “Press” tab. That’s it for now!

Your blog has been such a blessing to me. I would love to hold that precious, beautiful Nella. She is so precious. Lainey is the best dressed little girl in the world! I have twin granddaughters, Aubrey and LAINEY. They will be one year old on June 1. I cried reading your Daddy’s story of Nella’s birth. My dad passed away 20 years ago……..It helps when I see such a great relationship between a Daddy/Daughter as I had with mine. Hug your dad, because I would give anything to be able to hug mine.

Aw, I just listened to your interview with Rosie. You did good. I was one of the moms who found out at 16 weeks of pregnancy and chose to purposefully grow an imperfect baby. I knew God had a plan and that his plan was better than mine. I, too, was in shock when the genetic counselor’s first words were that “there are hundreds of people waiting to adopt babies with Down syndrome.” What?! I thought. This is MY baby, why would I want to give her away? Oh, I got one better. The doctor who did my amnio delivered the news to me while I was in the grocery store, alone with my 5 year old son, over my cell phone. And she knew I was in the grocery store at the time. Someone really needs to educate the medical community on some “bedside manners.” My sweet angel just turned three and is a pistol ball. We love her to death.

gracee’s class went to the circus and i took my lovely new camera with me and i almost cried at how crisp and next best thing to being there the pictures i took were…the yearbook staff begged me to use them..i showed those whippersnappers that this “old” lady is wicked with her new camera!HA! i am forever indebted to you and heidi for inspiring…now that would be an interesting blog..how you and heidi met and such. ♥

Just heard the Rosie interview, it was AWESOME! With your voice and personality, you could totally take on a radio show! I would definitely tune in!
Also, I’m excited to say I just bought myself a 50mm 1.8 lens for my camera with some saved up money . . . so excited to use it and capture some good stuff! I was thrilled to read that you use that lens a lot, maybe I will be able to take some “Kelle” photos!!

Thank you for the photography book recommendation – I’ll definitely be picking that up! And for the tips on photos on the blog – i try so hard, but mine come out looking strange, so I’ll try that link. When you shoot, do you fix your camera’s settings to shoot large pictures?
Thanks!

YES! I’ve been stalking your blog for SO long waiting for you to spill your tips and tricks. THANK YOU! You are amazing at all you do, and your family is just beautiful. Thanks so much for the FAQ section and your favorite Etsy shops! I went to the top etsy shop you listed this morning and found a hat I’ve been looking everywhere for. I’m so upset though at her business practices….at 8 am this morning, the hat I wanted was listed for $8, and since then (and apparently much more traffic to her site), she raised the price $2 out of thin air. Very upsetting. I’ll probably still get it because I really want it but I am in shock.
Love your blog nonetheless!!!! π

Love the changes:) Love your outlook on life. I often get asked the same thing about being happy and having bad days…. being scared for Jana’s future. I say the same thing I have no idea what is going to happen with Cole, Seth or the Miss Lanie in my Tummy. I recently was asked for advice. I said live in the moment not even the hour the moment and that is so true. I can see that is what you do.
Has Nella started PT yet? I know it is a big step.
Thinking of you and hope you have a great week!!
Danielle says
I stand corrected – there was something funky happening on etsy site-wide. Seems like the hat is back to $8 now. π

I didn’t know you were home schooled! So was I! It’s always so nice to meet other people who enjoyed their education at home. I truly enjoyed every minute of my time spent at home with my mom, siblings and others in my home school co-op and wouldn’t trade a minute of the fantastic, hands-on education I received. I feel even more connected to you now. π
Janita says
I was on the verge of not reading your blog anymore (Really? No, not really….) because I was starting to feel grossly inadequate. After reading your posts, I would gaze around my home, personally name the dust-bunnies that were gathering for a conference under my couch, count the toys on the floor, half-heartedly scratch at the gunk on the kitchen counter, (which would prompt me to lament the state of my nails), and then I would catch a reflection of myself in the mirror, resulting in a piercing shriek of horror. While on maternity leave, I tend to live in the same green sweatpants, green t-shirt and green 7-UP sweater…that is until my sister recently asked me, “Dude, did you skin the Grinch?” At some point, I would inevitably mutter to myself, “How the *&%$ does Kelle do it all? And how does she look so together and beautiful all the time? I think I hate her a little – this lovely woman that I’ve never met.” Shame would descend. I would put myself in the time-out chair. But then this morning, I read this on your blog, “Van Gogh didn’t paint toilets and dumpsters…so it is, I choose to capture and write about the very best.” And I laughed so hard I nearly wet myself. I love you now, and there’s no going back.
Lucy says
Bless you Kelle! I love the new FAQ and about this blog sections, they are inspiring as usual, and they’ve also left me with a funny mental image of Van Gogh earnestly sketching his toilet!

You forgot to tell us where you got the delicious quilted chairs. I want them sooo bad.
On another note, you should google GIGI’s PLAYHOUSE. It is a non-for-profit near my home that provides, education, recreation, and support for families with members with Down’s Syndrome. It is an amazing place. As a Special Education teacher down the street, we collaborate with them. They are going up like crazy in Illinois, and I know she would like to put them up in more places.

Love it! I’d love to start the books–and have pleeeenty of photos—but can’t figure out where to start—since I didn’t get on it right away. I have a 2.5 year old and a 1 year old. Where would you start if you were me? (as if you have time to answer or think about that!)

As a mother who also ended up in Holland, your story has touched my heart in so many ways. I just wanted to say thank you for sharing.

I love that you were homeschooled! If you decide to homeschool your girls, don’t let a little thing like a diagnosis stop you. My son is 18 and I’ve homeschooled him from birth despite his autism. I homeschooled my 14-year-old daughter until last year because she insisted that I put her in. She’s thriving, of course, and rockin’ a 4.0 for her freshman year. And she, too, used to be on the autistic spectrum…
I use homeopathy, not meds, to treat my kids’ vaccine damage, which now includes my son having 2-3 grand mal seizures a month, so my time is at a huge premium. My own blog bored me so I quit writing it, and I don’t even read my sister’s anymore, but I check your blog first thing every morning. I can’t believe what a respite it is for me, and I love your girls with a passion, and you for being such an awesome mom.
You go, girl!
Anna. says
Wow – as usual, I’ve explored the treat that is your blog and come away feeling totally inspired.
I also listened to the interview with Rosie, and it made me cry again, even though I already knew the beautiful moments from the story of Nella’s birth off by heart (I read it frequently, because the part about Lainey teaching you how to love is my favourite paragraph of literature – and I read a lot!)
I’m 16 now, and hope that when I’m your age I can be as good as mother as you are – you inspire me to plan my future around the children I want <3
Thank you, so much π xxxxx

That’s so thoughtful and helpful to put those links up. I read them and even in FAQ’s your personality shines through!
I’m listening to your interview with Rosie and you are just a beautiful soul, Kelle. For your flaws, for your honesty, for your love. You are just an amazing individual and it makes me so happy to see someone on this earth with these qualities. That you can grow and learn even at your age, that you can pass all this on to your two awesome little girls, that you can make me want to be a better person not only for myself, but for my family & the family I create in my own future someday.
Keep doing what you do best, because you do it so well.

Thank you so much for the Photography FAQ! I treated myself to the 50mm 1.4 lens this week. Canon should be paying you commission, ha ha!

Okay I have two questions:
1.) HOW do you have a body that amazing after having two beautiful children??
and…
2.) Since when did you start looking like Liv Tyler in that cement/ground shot? Crazy!
Loving the blog revamps! It’s a great way to get people to re-read the millions of other spectacular posts you’ve written throughout the year. π
P.S. Totally bummed that my Canon leaves me with a 2.8, but have decided that 2.8’s will get me just as beautiful shots as 1.4’s. π
