Friday Bliss

June 18, 2010 By Kelle

I found it. A polish to match my summer watermelon.

Photobucket

Essie’s Watermelon. Matches my melon slice so good, I almost bit my finger. Got camoflauged there for a minute.

And I’m not the only one who’s diggin’ it.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Looks good on her too.

Photobucket

And speakin’ of lookin’ good, look who was stylin’ her stuff at the beach last night.

Photobucket

It was the first time I put her in the sand, and as soon as I laid my little kitten’s tummy to that beach, she was all smiles…

Photobucket

Photobucket

I took the kids to Fort Myers Beach for something different and with the hopes of getting some pictures for Brett for Father’s Day but–and I’m going to put this nicely–no one wanted to be there. It was hot and a little out of the way and, although I haven’t gone through everything yet, I’m pretty sure in every picture at least one person’s crying or purposefully not smiling. Lainey did enjoy some brother time though.

Photobucket

And Nella got to feel what it’s like to have her tummy to the sand, so it wasn’t a total wash.

***************************************************************

Finding more summer inspiration out and about this week…

Photobucket

I just love when new seasons come in. I thought it was all about summer–and it is–but I’ll do this all over again come fall. I’ll pine over russets and golds and stalk Pier One for its spiced apple scents. The blog will blow up with seasonal overstimulation then too–like pumpkins and apples and my mom’s pie crust. But, for right now…it’s all summer, Baby. Warm, sunny, colorful summer that promises much more to come.

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket

Photobucket
Love how her little feet were thinkin’ about dippin’ in the mud in the first pic…and by the second pic, she’d decided to go all in, Baby. And smilin’.

This weekend will bring some speical time with my girls…

Photobucket

More enchanting thunder storms and more delicious summer.

Photobucket

…and some lovely ramblings about the man I love on Sunday.
Stay tuned.

And while I’m obsessed with Ingrid Michaelson, let me just say how proud I am of my super talented niece who sang at her school’s talent show a couple weeks ago here. Savannah, you sing just as beautifully as you are, inside and out! xoxo

I am going to be a big downer here and ask people to do a search on the chemical, Dibutyl phthalate (DBP). It is commonly used in nail polish. Essie, I believe, still includes it in their polish. There are some safer alternatives without the chemical, especially great for kids.

Can’t believe Nella stayed still enough for you to paint her toenails! My daughter was just commenting yesterday that she’s wanting to paint Calla’s toe, but I think she’ll have to be asleep!

OK, the attitude-spoiled-perfect-family-photo-shoot is just cosmic justice, my dear. Yes, there were times when you and your siblings also sabotaged our plans…with something more toxic than explosives–with unexpressionless faces, scowls and disinterest. And that arsenal is still used by our children. So, I smile knowing the fulfilment you experience what we did years ago! Those planned posed moments–regardless of the coordinated outfits and great setting–cannot compare to the relaxed and serendipitous shots you seem to land every day. Yes, the shot the other day of Austyn snuggling with Nella is far more priceless. I know it was a Fathers Day gift in the making…but I know Brett. He has his gifts…four of them…and he is very, very happy. Now there’s a happy fathers day. I love you, and have long forgotten your seldom-seen stinky attitude on perfect picture outings.

Favorite pic today? Nella on her belly smiling with pure delight in the newly discovered sand. Delicious. (I think that you should do a photo book of DS babies as a gift of sorts to the DS community and to show the rest of the world what a gift those little treasures are!)

    Dear Nella,
Thank you, sweet little one, for brightening my day several times a week. Today I smiled because I love your adorable little painted toes, tummy time in the sand, and, did I spy a little bunny tail on your onesie?! omg, LOVE!!

I have to say, the pictures of Nella in the sand are PROBABLY my favorite Nella pictures (and that is SAYING something!).
She is so beautiful Kelle. I can’t even see the down syndrome when I look at her. I just see sweet Nella, with all of the secrets of life inside those stunning eyes.
And your niece has a beautiful voice and great taste in music! πŸ™‚
    Happy weekend!

Beautiful of Nella in the sand…I almost want to hang it up in my house on my wall…and let people come by and oooh and ahhh over it …but I won’t. My Diego just loves the sand, too, and runs his hands through it mounding it up like a bulldozer.

And you have some kind of good arm to hold that camera steady and balance her in airplane.

    happy summer!

I have to admit that I am so jealous of your ability to find the good in everything! Each time you post a new entry it inspires me to try and be more laid back and to not let the struggles of life get on top of me. But now that I think about it, I started reading your blog right after you had Nella so you might not have been wearing it since I just recently discovered many pregnant women have to take their rings off. Hi Kelle!

Cracking up at Poppa’s comments. Toe sucker indeed=) And your past moments as a rather difficult Ford model! Your dad is too funny! He is as classic as mine, the love of my life!!

Nella is dreamy as usual! I LOVED the socks she was wearing in her saucer in your last post. You are the “guru” of fun, fashion finds=)

I want more photos, fun, color, water, polish, sand, flowers, music, party favors, books, picnics, parties, popsicles and children EVERY time I visit your blog!!

But shhhh…don’t tell my husband. We are both turning 50 next year, and have 2 teenage daughters, and he’s not diggin’ the more children thing=)

Your blog is too fun for words…..

what delight babies have–and perhaps, just maybe, nella will experience a bit of the gift of never totally losing the magic of childhood. and that’s not a bad thing at all, ’cause that extra little gene certainly can give lots of special gifts.

I think I have the YOUNGEST blog reader here. I was just doing Halle’s nails (9 years old) and didn’t even MENTION your blog and the watermelon nails, and she goes “you know that GIRL that has cute Nella, well SHE has her nails painted just like this and she’s holding watermelon”. I just about died. She got into my fav’s and was looking at your pictures. How cute is that? But she doesn’t want just watermelon colored nails, she wants me to use my paint pens and rim her nails with green, with black dots for the seeds!!!! She is such a diva!!!

Happy Fathers Day to Poppa and Brett!
On my old blog, I put all the ‘failed’ picture attempts up and then showed the ‘perfect’ photo that came after threatening to make them stay in their rooms for the remainder of the day. The great thing is…to this day we love the ‘failed’ attempts best!
Now, I tell them that for every good shot I get, they get to do a funny shot! The funny shots are always a blast!
Nella and Lainey are beautiful and I love their painted piggies! I see that beach picture on your wall soon, Nella is about the most precious beach baby I’ve ever seen!
