It seems silly to share the rest of these photos as vacation already seems forever ago. What is it about December that makes me feel like I’m constantly getting wormholed into the next week?
We spent our last night in Key West zig-zagging through sword-swallowers and tarot card readers on Mallory Square. Lainey slept in the stroller while Nella’s little eyes darted from tight ropes to flame jugglers…
…and then suddenly, without any announcement, everyone gathered together at the edge of the square to watch the sun’s show. It’s one of those moments you feel connected to everyone…like clutching your heart during the Star Spangled Banner at a football game or throwing your hands in the air and belting out a chorus with a sea of screaming fans at a concert.
The splendor of that pink sun magically made everyone nice. People were volunteering to take each others’ pictures, the guy who stepped on my toe was reduntantly apologizing, and strangers were kindly making space for their neighbors to find a spot along the line of sun-watching spectators. Or maybe that’s just Key West.
Key West which, might I add, festively displayed its Christmas love amid shipmasts and sunny skies. No snow needed.
And Girlfriend can find her Michigan when she wants to. Even in a grungy bar far from home.
It was a good trip.
But, the older I get, coming home is just as sweet as leaving…if not sweeter.
December calls for being home.
The ceremony of addressing holiday cards was deliciously drawn out last night as Heidi and I sat hunched against the coffee table, watching movies, stamping, stuffing and finishing off one of our favorite rituals of December.
And now the tips of my fingers are inky, and the top knuckle of the ring finger on my right hand is knotted and swollen. And I like it that way.
Lainey and I made a few gifts yesterday, our favorite being our homemade salt scrub.
Mix equal parts salt to oil. We used a mix of coarse (not too coarse though) and fine sea salt with ground cane sugar and then added grapeseed and sweet almond oil with lavender and lemon essential oils (all available at health food store).
Package in half-pint jam jars with material squares, a tiny spoon and baker’s twine.
I saved one for us because I can’t stop using it.

All I want for Christmas is a healthy baby and a good ultrasound (it’s coming up on Thursday, I’m not due until May, but I figure it’s never too early to start asking!)
What I’d really like for Christmas is the time to enjoy every ritual and tradition…since adding another hour to the day would stretch even Santa’s magical powers, I’d be really happy to have the sense to not look for the ‘perfect’ holiday but to enjoy every bit of our imperfect one.

Home Sweet Home!! I am so glad you had a great trip, but I couldn’t agree more- its always nice to come home. With only 2 more exams to finish, I cant wait to be home for the holidays! My countdown is on.
This year my Christmas wish list is a Digital SLR Nikon D90 with 18-105mm lens. I don’t expect to get it, and may have a heart attack if I do, but thats number one on my list. We shall see how good Santa is this year.

All I want for Christmas… hmmm… I want to enjoy the day with my family, especially my nephew who will be 7 months old Christmas day (the first baby in the family in 20 years). And then I want to be Florida bound – bittersweet tears stinging my cheeks each mile of the 1,381 to my new home in Florida… I want to take in a Naples sunset like you wouldn’t believe! (I love all the people takin pics of the sunset, cameras all extended freezing that amazing moment in time)

The first picture of Lainey and Nella in the hammock makes me long for a vaca even more… We had our first dusting of snow this morning and it’s bitterly cold up here! I long for the sun and some warmth!

I was recently asked by my boss what i wanted for my birthday (seeing as how it’s about a week from now) and I honestly told him…nothing. Now that’s not to say I don’t want things, i do. But what I want more than anything is extremely unlikely to fit in a box. Same goes for christmas. there are things on my “want” list, but what I’d love more than anything is for my family and friends to stay healthy and beautiful. I’d love to stay in college and figure out the true road I’m destined to be on. To find myself someone to love me for me, to spend my life with.
Even I know those are impossible things to ask your family to attempt to get you for any holiday. (: But beyond those…I really want a beautiful knit hat.

My wish for Christmas is to have three happy kids who feel blessed and lucky by the end of the day. As they grow, the mental ‘tally’ of who gets what and it is all equal in value and perceived bounty can be boggling and, at times, disheartening. I think it will be good, though!

I have already been granted my Christmas wish! It’s my first Christmas with my husband as husband and wife and I don’t have to work! I’m a nurse so have worked the last few Christmas’s! Very excited to spend the day with my family =D
I secretly want another baby. Even though my four month old is still verymuchababy and I hated being pregnant, and my husband would die if he knew I was typing this. But that’s what I want. Another baby.

What I want for Christmas is to soak up every available moment with my family, cuddle with my little boy as he wears his wonderfully comfy footie jammies, drink a cup of hot cocoa (with REAL marshmallows) and hopefully watch the snow fall on Christmas Eve through the lights hung around the windows…this will be my first Christmas back home in 3 years and the first Christmas I’ll have as a Mommy!
As a mom of 2 beautiful girls too, all I want for Christmas is to be able to take pictures like you! Look forward to seeing your girls’ pictures and hopefully getting better at taking pictures of my own girls! Sadly they are 12 and almost 14 and I get the eye roll whenever I take out the camera! Such a loaded question… but I’ll give it a go. This is my first Christmas with my boyfriend and his 2 little girls and I really want it to be absolutely magical, sparkely, wonderful and full of laughter. The older one of his daughters is getting skeptical about Santa, I’d like to do something to seal her belief for another year. My boyfriend has been struggling with money, I’d like that not to be a worry for a while. This is the first Christmas eve that I’m not staying over at my mom’s, I want her to know I treasure our Christmas memories and traditions. But in the name of material things, I’d like a new computer with better photography software already included, an hour long massage, some yoga new clothes, new Sorel winter boots, and a gift certificate to New York and Co.

I love you pictures from Key West looks like a little piece of Heave here on Earth. I would really like a mom’s day for Christmas. One of those mom day where there is only adults around and what money is used that day did not cut the family in form that week/ month. One where you go to eat lunch and you get that glass of wine because you have no little one wanting to play. That would be great but I do believe that day will have to be a dream until my 2 year old grows a little more. OR my hubby gets the new job we are hoping for!

There are all sorts of things I can think of to ask for Christmas:
1)a part time job
2)no drama with my husbands family during our visit
3) our house to sell quickly when we put it on the market
but I think more than anything, I want to carry a baby in my belly. I think if that were my one and only present this year-I’d be overflowing with joy.
I’d love to have my dad back from heaven. But something that I would like and might actually get is a spa day!

I usually make Rum cakes for people, but might try that scrub. A friend made something like that for me a few years ago, and I LOVED IT!!!! So I want to not have to work, but am hoping for a lot of frivilous things instead like a CHI flat iron and new clothes and shoes! 🙂

A) I want the “Dirty Jobs” dude to lay down in my bed for just a few brief moments.

What I really want for Christmas is for my husband to get a job offer so that we can stop worrying about the lack of money in the bank and the bills piling up and start trying for a baby again because I really really really want a baby and the 2 of us alone can’t make it on my income, so a baby isn’t even a possibility until he finds work again.

Last Christmas I was really struggling with my singleness. It was hard watching all my friends make Christmas special for their little ones and genuinely feeling like I wasn’t ever going to have that chance. I took a silver Christmas ball and some glittery fabric paint and wrote out, “This too shall pass/09” on it. This year I met the man I believe to have met before only in my dreams, and hope has been restored in my life. I think this year my Christmas ball will read, “Dreams come true/10”. I don’t need any Christmas presents this year, because I feel so fortunate already, but if you REALLY dig deep you might find out I secretly really want my own Starbucks barista machine. ; ) Merry Christmas!

all that being said. i’m totally content with where i am in life, and feel amazing blessed. that’s the best gift and one you can’t buy.
I want two things for christmas….One is a DSLR Camera and the second is a whole weekend just to myself, no husband and no child.
I’m a single mom and my closest family is over a thousand miles away. For this year, I just want a holiday with my family. For the next year, I want to make sure my daughter knows how much I love her and that when all the other kids are asking for dada, that my love alone is all she needs. And I hope that I can teach her everything she needs to know to be kind to those around her and share my life lessons.

Key West has a very special place in my heart. That’s where my husband and I had our honeymoon. We drove the whole way. What an adventure! What i really want for Christmas but in no way can afford is a nice flash for my camera and/or a nice photoshop program. (I’d prefer Adobe but I’m not too picky)

Watching a sunset at Mallory Square should be on everyone’s bucket list. Nella and Lainey are just precious. My sister Faith passed away this past January and I’m pretty sure I need a Faith on my side shirt! Wubba them!!!
I want a journal that I kept while I was on hospitalized bed rest and my girls were in the NICU. I kept it online and the company will compile your journal, viewer’s comments, and photos. The problem is I wrote a lot and got a lot of comments so it’s over $300. Anyway, that’s what I want.

All I really want for Christmas? An uneventful 8 hour drive to my family’s home for Christmas with my husband 7 month old… and chocolate :). But really, I’m getting what I want in getting to spend Christmas with my family this year. Last year I was too sick with my pregnancy to notice much and I really missed the traditions I had grown up with. Can’t wait for our own little family to start showing the Christmas to our baby!

For Christmas this year, I just want to rest with my husband and our two sweet little daughters (aged 28 months and 8 months). Because I’m all mushy like that today this is what I wish for at Christmas. In April our boy twin Gage is going for a week stay in the ICU at our Children’s hospital.This will be an attempt for our first decannulation, and if God willing this will be the first time in four years my son will be a nose and mouth breather and I will get to see his little boy bare neck. Gage would be able to get to play in sandboxes, swim and we could hear his little voice without a speaking valve. This is the one thing my heart hopes for.

I really want a blender (and to think I would have strangled my husband if he thought of this 🙂 to make cool smoothies with my kids. Of course, I have my eye on one of those whiz-banger $400 ones. All I want for Xmas is a healthy 20 month old son. I thought of you over the weekend we needed to take our son to the ER because he has croup. Now he just keeps coughing and waking himself up and crying because he is so tired. I think we are in for a long night tonight. I secretly love it though since I get some middle of the night cuddles which is cuddles with an active toddler is few and far between. I’m glad Nella was able to rally and enjoy your vacation. What I really want for Christmas is to slow down for a little while. I want to spend as much quality time with my incredibly hard-working husband before our first is born. I want one wast hurrah of being quintessentially us before a new us is created.
I’m not going to lie. I just want some money to buy some things for myself this Christmas. I just want to go into a store and be able to pick out what I like instead of searching the clearance racks. A girl can dream right?
I live much further north than Florida and we’re living in a winter wonderland! It makes me grateful for hot chocolate and 2 adorable beauties to snuggle with.

Today is our second wedding anniversary and nearly two years since we honeymooned in south florida + key west! We loved the sundown at mallory square… and we also climbed the lighthouse and ate our weight in key lime pie. Rude not to.
This Christmas I’m hoping for snow, as we’re going back to my homeland of North Wales. My parents live near Snowdonia and there is usually a dusting of snow on the mountains but proper snow would make Christmas seem more Christmassy! (Google Snowdonia on images. Its the most beautiful place on earth!)
I’d also love a bottle of my wedding day perfume.

I am really wanting my little almond eyed beauty to stay heathy for the holiday season, because come Jan 4, 2011 she will be having surgery. SO I hope and pray that she will stay happy and healthy. And also I really want a laptop and photoshop!!! I love taking pics and I want to be able to make my very own cards with my pics.
If I’m completely honest with myself and completely selfish… then what I want for Christmas is $30 cash and hubby watching the kids for the entire day so that I can drain the hot water tank with a nice, long shower and then spend my “fun money” cruising around all the thrift stores in town. 🙂

I’ll be honest, and it feels really selfish, but all I really want is a new wedding band! I love my bridal set that my hubby got me, but the stone in it is constantly scratching my son (and is still a little snug since I haven’t exactly lost all baby weight yet, oops!) so I don’t even wear it anymore. I’m hoping to get just a plain band to wear until we are done having kids and it’s a little more practical again.

I really want to enjoy it. I feel like the magic disappears a little bit the older I get. I want to feel the excitement and love of it all. I want to pass that on to my daughter as well (she just turned 1 in November). I want to start new traditions with my little family.

Christmas morning this year won’t find me taking a gazillion pictures of my miracle child with a brand-spankin-new DSLR camera.. (but I’ll take them with my point and shoot Canon, none-the-les)
But it will find me lifting my precious angel boy out of his crib, with sleep still making his eye-lids droopy, to have him ask for his “Bankie” & “Baby” before we leave his room. And once the Boy, Blanket and GloWorm Baby are safely snuggled into my arms, he’ll give me the sweetest “good morning” hug, and I’ll kiss him and tell him I love him… then we’ll walk out into our living room to meet Big Daddy & to see what goodies Santa has brought our very good mannered miracle son. I couldn’t ask for more 🙂

Michigan is Decembering up for Christmas. 25 degrees and several inches of lake effect snow. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!! Went to Chicago this weekend and it was incredible. Snow, lights everywhere, horse drawn carriage rides, shopping with sisters & mom…BUT, in January I will be MORE than a little jealous of your Florida warmness..

For Christmas I really want, need, have to have everything at Anthropologie. But if Santa can’t fit it all in his sleigh – a fluffy, warm pair of house slippers will do! And the cheesy “world peace” side of me wants to remember to step back, take a breath and soak it all in. My baby is 1 and he’s so curious and observant and I want to remember not to be annoyed with his constant climbing and tearing into (other people’s) gifts and instead be thankful and grateful for his never-ending quest to run his grubby little hands all over everything!

Ok- of course for Christmas I want to spend time with my family, watch my baby girl enjoy her first “real” Christmas- last year she was too young to even realize she had tons of gifts from Santa! But what i would REALLY LOVE for Christmas? 4 tickets to the BCS National Championship game!! I was a student at Auburn in 2004 when we went undeafeted and didn’t get a chance to play for the championship- I’m now applying to go back for my masters and would LOVE the opportunity to go to AZ with my husband and friends to watch my Tigers play!!!

What do I really want for Christmas? A plane ticket for me to go to Uganda to visit my daughter Pippin (only 18 and already off on her own in the real world), or a plane ticket so she can come home and be with her family for Christmas. And yeah, if you think sending Lainey off to ballet alone is hard, try putting her on a plane to Africa for 9 months!!
If I can’t have that plane ticket? Well, then, maybe just patience to get through each day of sorrow after losing my mother in August; strength and wisdom to parent my 7 children still at home, or an ipod touch 🙂

All I want for Christmas is my 11-year-old-other-self, Kasey, to be home for the holidays, away from the world of chemo and testing and fevers and pain – in the world of “11” and not the world of “leukemia”. I want Kasey to have a magical Christmas of laughs and smiles and joy and family and friends. That’s all I could really ask for. I’d ask for a cure but that’s a little much to wish for in 19 days.
Looks like tons of fun from the vaca! We never get tired of seeing your gorgeous girls photos so it’s never too late to post them!! I really really really SO badly want a new camera. To be specific; a Nikon D5000…ahhh, please Santa! I promise I’ve been very good this year! ;P
I would like money so I can go visit my mom in TN. I’d also like a new pair of work out pants, some scarves and matching hats!

Wow- compared to all of you, my wish seems veeery small and unimportant… (laugh) but I’ll still say it. I want a big set of Prismacolors for my art, and a promise from my best friend that she’ll stay near to me even when we’re all grown up and busy with our own lives.
I’d love to sell our condo in Kentucky this Christmas…it’s been for sale now for a year and a half and we can’t get a place of our own here in Naples until it happens….otherwise, we drew names this year and I’m thrilled. Well the things that I would love the most I can’t have but can wish for anyway. They are to spend just one more day with my sweet baby girl Emma who just celebrated the start of her 6th year in Heaven and to have my husband Bill who is stationed overseas home with our family for Christmas. So since I can’t have those things I hope for my new camera lens so I can take pictures of all the memories I am making with my children this holiday season.

Gosh. You know, if I could really have ANYTHING for Christmas, I think I would get a rockin’ good bra. I bought one once from this awesome shop nearby – to the tune of $140 or something ridiculous. But man, was it rockin’! But alas, the moola is tight, so I’ll rock the sag in the meantime. ; )

I know, as a mom, I should probably want for Christmas things for my kids and all that… but I have to admit, this year, I am sad. My relationship (not marriage) that was unconventionally started and yet perfect in every way ended abruptly, and without reason at all. The holidays are proving really hard. I want that back. For Christmas I would love a bigger memory stick for my Sony camera. It is only a 1G and at certain events I have to take my computer and constantly transfer the photos and video clips over so I can keep capturing all the special moments. I’m sure I always look so funny. So, a bigger memory chip would be superb. Thanks for inspiring my photography with all your amazing photos!
What I *really* want for Christmas is a macro lens for my camera (I’m addicted to the small things….the really, really small ones, in fact), but I would be perfectly happy with a fun, colorful, cheap-o ring, maybe something turquoise. And a decent picture of my three littles in their Christmas jammies! There is nothing sweeter than babies in PJs.

all I want for Christmas is to wake up and be completely content that the gifts we were able to put under the tree for our kids is sufficient. That we have raised them to this point to know that even if we cannot put a ton under the tree as years past that the real meaning of Christmas is strong in their hearts and that we know how blessed we are to have all the blessings we have which are not material. My wish for Christmas is to have my floors in. We had a flood on Nov. 1 and I’m getting tired of the dust and concrete!
This year when it comes to what I want for Christmas it kinda scares me when I think of the answer! Growing up I would come up with a long list of things I wanted 6 months before Christmas. I wanted EVERYTHING!!! When high school came around all I wanted was CLOTHES CLOTHES and MORE CLOTHES!!! When I first got married I still wanted CLOTHES!! This year is quite different. Why?! Well, #1- My husband and I are both college students and this year we are barely making it by!
#2- We have a baby. A 20 month old baby boy. Last year I feel like he was two young to understand, where as this year is a little different. So, when you ask me what I want for Christmas…the honest to goodness answer is that I want no more than to move my little budget over to my son Nixon’s budget. I am so excited to see him Christmas morning with the fun toys I have picked out for him. But since our budget is super small, I rather not get ANYTHING for myself (besides maybe a box of english toffee) and let Nixon have it all!!! 🙂

What I want for Christmas? Well if you had asked me prior to Black Friday I probably would’ve given you an item off of my wish list, all of which were just materialistic things, meaningless in value. But now all I want for Christmas is to have my Dad at home on Christmas day…he had a stroke on Black Friday and has been in the hospital ever since. He adores my 3 little girls and I know that to be able to spend Christmas Day with them would be the best gift ever – for all of us. But if he can’t be at home, you can bet that we’ll be taking the celebration to him!!!

For Christmas I want my little girl to continue to thrive in the last 10 weeks before she is born. We just can’t wait to meet her! (And… a Kindle… not that I’ll have a lot of time for reading once the baby is here but I would still just love one.)

What I really want for Christmas … for my Dad not to have to suffer from Bipolar disorder anymore … so that he and my mom can be carefree and happy again.

The only real item on my Christmas wish list this year is a Flip camera. My husband will deploy next year and will end up missing some of our first born’s “firsts”. I hope to film our day to day life so he doesn’t feel he’s missed as much!

After reading your guest blogger post on “life rearragned” – I donated to baby cliff and found myself at the Reece’s Rainbow website (yet again…I’ve been there a few times before…) and my heart was instantly drawn to a little boy named Shea. Shea is a 4 year old orphan in Ukraine born with Spina Bifida – the same birth defect my 18month old son, Jet, was born with. He’s grabbed hold of my heart and won’t let go – and so my husband and I have started “Saving Shea” – an effort to raise enough money to make it a little easier for a family to adopt him and bring him home. I’d love to get a vacation alone with my husband for Christmas – even if just for a few days. I could use some beach time – things have been stressful with work, school, and life. I actually wouldn’t mind taking my littles with me (my heart would ache without them!).

I guess what I really want for Christmas is to be engage to the love of my life. He has made me a better person. Due to the economy his job (as a teacher) was downsized last year. We got the news right after we had planned to start looking for a ring. God has blessed us as we were fortunate that he was able to find another job this fall. I couldn’t agree more about being home at this time of year ~ there’s something so magical about snuggling up with your family while the Christmas lights sparkle and you just know this is where you are meant to be! Love it! And what I want for Christmas…hmmm, not something I’ve really thought about. Isn’t that funny how mothers really do just want peace and love? That will be more than enough for me this year. My first thought was that I’d really like hubs to find a new job for Xmas. He’s been laid off for about 6 weeks and he’s starting to go a little crazy.
But then I think about how lucky we are. We have a great house, a happy bubbly 7 month old, two great (most of the time) step kids… and I realize we’re already ON the yellow brick road.
So for Xmas, I’d like more of the same. 🙂

For Christmas, all I really want is to be able to spend quality time with my family. All year long we go and go and go, and it’s nice to be able to sit and breathe in some quality time with the ones you love the most. Now, if it would only go by a little slower than a normal day, then that would be even better!

I would love my sanity back. I am a new mom with a 1 year old, a PhD student, and the wife of a wonderful man who is on a journey to make his third Olympics. Needless to say that I (we) are crazy just trying to survive. So, again, this year for Christmas, I’d love my sanity back–I almost kind of remember what it was like. Ahhhh… the good ol’ days. In addition to the sanity, I would LOVE some of those super cute tall, knit socks, that I can wear with my boots.

well, what I want is a scanner…cause I have a gazillion pictures from pre digital days that I would love to use on my blog and to make sure I don’t ever lose. Capturing moment is so important to me, always has been.
I have everything else I need!
Material object? The Canon T2i, I’m dying for it! I’m desperate to make the jump from point and shoot to SLR, and I have been checking up on it online for ages, waiting for a sale and the money to buy it.
My true Christmas wish? That nothing happens to prevent me from packing carefully wrapped gifts and skates and clothes into the car, loading up our iPods and driving the 7.5 hours down to my Grandfathers house – where all 32 of us will rally one last Christmas for my Grandpa just like we did as kids.
I have all I need, however next week I have my 13 week OB appointment to hear my 5th child, potentially fourth baby’s heartbeat…I am really hoping for a beat that is strong allowing me to be pregnant one last Christmas, pregnancy at Christmas is my true gift this year!
What I want for Christmas? Easy. I want my family together and happy… As happy as we can possibly be after losing two members of our extended clan this year.
It won’t be the same. It will probably be sad to be without them at such a special time of year.
But at least we’ll be all together, embracing past memories and making new ones to treasure someday.

We just got married and have been eating off of a gift box for the past three months. Yesterday, we found a great table at a furniture store that was going out of business. I now need chairs. I am from Texas and my husband is from Virginia. For Christmas, I want to add Texas flare to my apartment. I am asking for four unfurnished Texas star chairs so I can paint them red. 🙂
Besides my son having an awesome Christmas? I’d really love for someone to get me a certificate to take a photography class. I want to learn how to use my fancy new camera!

For Christmas this year I’d really like a night out with my best girl friends and no kids. All of us are always so busy being mommies and going to college and work that we hardly have time for each other. I just had twin boys almost 2 months ago, and they are exclusively breastfed, and I also have a 2 year old daughter. Showering is a luxury, so time out would be heaven.
For Christmas, I would like a video camera. I feel like we’re missing out on so much with the kids being 6 and 4….I’d like to be able to capture them being themselves. We take alot of pictures, but it just isn’t the same.
My Christmas wish would be to have my whole extended family together again. We haven’t seen our niece or nephew for 2 years and we miss them (and their parents!) terribly. It’s hard when you live across the country from each other.

So I am going to be selfish and say what I want for Christmas is really what I WANT. Since I have been reading your blog I have been getting into taking pictures so much more these days, you are very inspiring for me and I thank you for that. So all this to say I want more camera supplies, flashes, filters, lenses, you name it. I know I won’t get them all for Christmas but the idea is nice. But I will at least have the goal and the passion for it.

I want baby #2. My husband and I have been trying for a year and most days (while playing with my boy) I will be moved to tears because my heart physically hurts. I feel like I have lost a child from our world, I feel that deeply that I need to have another baby. I love my boy so much and soak up out alone time but I feel like a child is missing.

Our gorgus girl, Maisey, came to us 3 months ago complete with her designer genes too!! And what a gift she is! Needless to say, i dont need anything for christmas i got her. My only dream would be to have her gradma (my mum) here to meet her and smother her with love.
It will be summer over here for chrissie so some cold drinks, fresh seafood and relaxing by the pool with loved ones will have to suffice!!! doesn’t sound too tough!

Your blog is always such a beautiful, yet forceful reminder of how easily I can lose it from my eyes and more importantly how it gets pushed back in my heart. Yet a look at my two gifts from God tell me that I have already been blessed by so much and need to spend each day enjoying the small things – because they aren’t small for long. For Christmas I would love to take my boys to see snow and maybe some reindeer. Animals and outdoorsy stuff are always a hit with them.

Although I would LOVE a DSLR and a number of other “things,” I could dream about forever…what I really want for christmas & hannukah is for my husband to agree to minimize our gift exchange so we can focus on our daughter and enjoy the holidays without worrying about the financial strain that comes along with them…to me it’s really not about the gifts, at least not as an adult. I just love watching the kids and reliving the magic of the season through them.

A similar gathering occured at my wedding ceremony. It was on a Florida beach at sunset and we had lots of extra guests who came to watch the sun set. We were so busy taking pictures I didn’t get a chance to stop and soak in the moment. As the last sliver of sun slipped away everyone clapped as if they had just finished watching a spectacular show. Glad you all had fun in Key West.
What I’d really love for Christmas is a 50mm f/1.4 lens for my camera. Given our current economic situation I know there’s no way I would get it, but a girl can dream.

You know, I’ve been thinking and thinking about what I would really like for Christmas. Sure, a pair of awesome boots sound great or some delicious Givenchy perfume, but what I really, *really* want is to just enjoy the holiday with my girl. She’s growing up so fast and I just want to enjoy every cookie baking, tree decorating, carole singing, light display admiring, festive season moment, you know? Every year I get all stressed about the perfect wrapping, and the perfect presents, etc. etc. Not this year. My gift to myself is to enjoy this blasted holiday with everything I’ve got! I’ve been married for 3 weeks. I spent my 5 month engagement fluctuating between extreme paranoia and elation comparable to that of a jack rabbit on uppers. It’s really been a sunny time in my life. my family and i spent december in key west 2 years ago. being from north carolina it was so very strange to walk outside in shorts on christmas..SO WEIRD! where was the snow??
but the way of life there, the people, the atmosphere…it’s nothing but relaxing and peaceful.

I can’t wait to go to our Christmas Eve Church Service (candlelit) with my 84 yr old Grandma ~ Cousins, sister and her family. What I really want after that is for those same family members to come back to our house afterwards to laugh and make memories around our Christmas Tree. ( I haven’t confirmed everyones plans) — I am having so much fun with our Mitten Advent Calendar- This year I started a new tradition and decided to tell our kids that Eddie our Elf has been bringing the candy/gifts from the North Pole each night. This year I already know what I’m getting for Christmas and it’s exactly what I wished for, which is to be with my WHOLE family. We are flying down to Ft Myers and leaving this freezing Minnesota weather behind to be with my sister, brother-in-law, and BABY nephew; who I will meet for the first time! I have made one special request…we will be going to the Isle of Capri Fish House because I want to experience what you have been worshipping for so long. Nothing can beat Christmas at home, but I will argue that being with family, wherever that may be, trumps it all!

My husband and I don’t do gifts for each other for pretty much any holiday because we just get things throughout the year and would rather spend our money on the other people in our lives. Sometimes I hate it, sometimes I love it. I’m always saying “…that’s what I want for Christmas” and he laughs because it’s always something different. This year I think my wish list includes, a new lens for my camera, an iphone, a laptop, and new boots.
First have to say I am addicted to reading your blog and am excited to see an unread message under my RSS Feeds! I would love a new shirt for Christmas! Our Christmas consists of purchasing building supplies for our new house that we hope to be done building this spring! Along with World Peace I would also add continued employment. All I want for christmas, is to be a mom. We’ve been trying for 3 years (in Jan) and we’re now getting much more aggressive with fertility treatments. I would love nothing more than to find out we are pregnant. Once we have a baby we will be adopting a special needs baby, most likely a baby that was special enough to earn an extra chromosone from god (to us that’s like god giving you a gold star for being awesome).
I want to edit the above statement, We might end up adopting before we have a bio baby. 🙂

Key West looks amazing, but I will have to agree that sometimes coming home is just as sweet as the vacation itself.
Number one on my Christmas list, aside from spending time with my family and watching my girls open what Santa has brought for them, is a new camera. I have so many blurry cell phone pictures of my girls and I am convinced that if I had a better camera that I would be more diligent in documenting their lives…and maybe even start a blog of my own 🙂
What I really want for Christmas is more time. I always have lots of people to visit with during the holiday and never enough time to spend.

For Christmas I would really love to reach my mini-goal of 20lbs weight loss! I have been strugling trying to loose weight since I had my kids and finally got serious at the end of Sept! 18lbs later, I am striving for 2 more (then I have another 20 to get to my major goal!). I could certainly use a new shirt as many of mine are too big! Woot!
For Christmas I really want a pair of Ellie boots from Sundance in Mango. And a fingerprint necklace.
And I have to say, this made me cry “And Girlfriend can find her Michigan when she wants to. Even in a grungy bar far from home.” This girl is from Michigan too. But living in Wisconsin isn’t too different!

I want more trust in God. From facing the daily struggles of raising 4 under 4yrs to dealing with Daddy’s upcoming deployment, this would benefit our family most this Christmas.
I want my daughter to spend her first Christmas with her grandparents in Boston without being snowed in or out of the city. We are driving up from DC and I am counterintuitively wishing for no snow all the way up the east coast!

1. One of those Africa stamped necklaces featured on here a while back…well that one wasn’t featured but the same gal makes them and stamps a heart wherever you want…so on Uganda, where a big chunk of my heart lies since our baby could be there, maybe conceived, maybe born…but will be waiting and my heart leaps and longs.
2. Good “down time” with my husband and boys. Just us.
3. To capture really good pictures with my new CAMERA!!! Whoop whoop! Cannon Rebel EOS T2i.
4. To see joy exude from my boys. For them to “get it” and get the love and the Reason we celebrate Christmas and year ’round.
All I want for Christmas is to SLOW down and enjoy every single moment with my husband & 3 small kids. I feel like life is zooming right by and if I don’t slow it down I’m going to regret it.

My granddaughter phoned to tell me that she made bath salts with her mom today too! She’s selling the little jars to raise money for Hope Mission, a local ministry where $2.70 will help supply Christmas dinner for 1 person. I love that her parents are helping her to help others.

Hmm, one thing I’ve been wanting that would be fun for Christmas is an electronic reader like a Kindle.
I want our move from NV to CO to go smoothly. with a few meltdowns from my 4 month old daughter as possible. that’d be a nice Christmas gift, even if it’s 3 days after Christmas!

What do I really, really want for Christmas? I want a “time turner” (you know like what Hermione Granger and Harry Potter used in Prisoner of Azkaban) for Christmas morning. I want to rewind and play over and over again Christmas morning and the look of amazement when both my kiddos look upon their bounty of presents that Santa has left them. There looks of pure joy and excitement as they rip off that colored paper, stare, mouth opened, at their gift, and then turn to show me with a “Mommy, Daddy loook!!! How did Santa know this was EXACTLY what I wanted…how did he know mom? These moments where part of me wants to jump up and say becuase I listened so carefully to you as you told me every detail about this since last August, because I know you better than anyone else, because this is EXACTLY the one I would have wanted too! But knowing this is not a time to take the credit for being the best personal shopper for my kids, but for igniting that belief and magic of Christmas even more and say “I don’t know how he knows, it’s just part of the magic of Christmas. (Then I sip my coffee and look over at my husband who winks at me knowing how excited that has just made me). That is what I want, to be able to use my time-turner to watch these moments over and over and over again. But assuming that I can’t have this little device…I’ll take a new fridge with all the bells and whistles :).
The salt scrubs are great…perfect idea for therapists and teachers! For Christmas I really wanted a mommy necklace with my kids’ names on it…but since I’m pregnant with baby #3 and have no name yet, I’ll wait until next year…

I have all the 2-D animated Disney movies on VHS, and for the past few years, I’ve been slowly converting my collection to DVD. I REALLY want the Beauty and the Beast Two-Disc Special Edition DVD. It’s one of my very favorite old-school animation Disney movies.
Also, the Inception Special Edition Blu-Ray DVD… and a Blu-Ray player.
Love your blog, your kids are beautiful. For Christmas, I want my 6 week old with bad reflux to stop screaming. That, or a food processor. Making big batches of things with a Magic Bullet is so not cutting it! Merry Christmas!

Mrs. Hampton, what do I want for Christmas? It might seem silly, but I would like some Dansko shoes. It’s what all the REAL nurses wear at the hospital, and maybe–just maybe!–I will start to feel like more of a nurse and less like a fumbling student.
I’d also like my boyfriend to truly enjoy Christmas. He’s sort of a Scrooge, I’ve come to find after five Christmases together, and it’s bringing down my Christmas high. 🙂

In fact, I think I was meeting him down in the NICU for the first time right about now this time last year.
To be honest the only thing I want for Christmas, which is the same thing I’ve wanted since I was able to purchase gifts myself, is to see the joy on everyone’s face when they open the gift I picked out for them. I’m not a gift card kind of gal, to me that’s the easy way out.

newbie to the blog…your girls are beautiful and i just read nella’s birthstory. i have a special place in my heart for children with down syndrome. i taught students k-3 before I was a SAHM and I had 2 children in my class who had down syndrome and i’m forever changed by them….. you are specially picked by God to have her..your friend was right!

I’m listening to your playlist, and I’ve realized we have the same taste in music. I’m not sure if you’ve listened to her or not, but I highly recommend the song “If You Can’t Sleep” by Zooey Deschanel. It’s beautiful, and I’m sure you and your daughters would really enjoy it; it makes me think of the bond you all have. All of her other songs are great, too (more uplifting ones).
