On the Boardwalk

March 6, 2008 By Kelle

Morning naps have been a bit of a challenge lately, so I try my best to tire her out. Today, I thought we’d do something completely enjoyable…we drove over to my dad’s condo where they have the most beautiful boardwalk that goes for miles. It’s so peaceful and serene, and there’s actually a stretch that feels like you’re in the middle of the Serengeti. At the end, the boardwalk stretches out into the bay where you can sit and sometimes see manatees. I was so happy I did it…forces me to really appreciate nature more and I like her to grow up with those kinds of experiences. She loved it too, smiling at all the old people that stopped to talk to her, singing back to the many birds we heard and yes, eventually falling asleep towards the end of the walk. Check out how she fell asleep–she couldn’t hold the weight of her head anymore so it just fell forward into a cute little heap at the front of her stroller!

And the Full Helping…

March 5, 2008 By Kelle

People ask me all the time, “What’s a normal day for you?” And I usually stumble for lack of better words and utter something lame about playing with baby, running errands or doing laundry. Of course, the “doing laundry” part is a big lie. But seriously…it’s a hard question to answer when asked unexpectedly. So, given some time…I shall answer.

What’s a normal day for me? First of all, it’s never normal. Unless of course you call the unearthly-magic-of-being-so-in-love-with-a-miraculous-piece-of-heaven-and-watching-that beautiful-bit-of-ethereal-life-grow-before-your-very-eyes normal. Now that that’s out of the way…what do we do? We honestly, truly bask in happiness every day. And sometimes I feel guilty saying that–like I have to defend myself against those that might challenge me that we live in a cloud or that reality isn’t that blissful. But it so is…when you make it. In my life long search for my own mantra, I have finally landed on it…”Life is What You Make It”. And I choose to make it wonderful by enjoying the small things every single day. We are in the midst of major transition in our home with Brett’s new job, we don’t know what tomorrow holds, we don’t agree on every single issue, and we certainly have “those days.” But, in the end…as each day we are blessed with closes, we smile. We do things that make us happy, we look on the bright side, and we thank God that we have everything we could ever want…love, love, and more love.
We turn ordinary into extraordinary…who knew a little pink inner tube could create so much fun?! It became our little front yard playground today…
We Live & Love… pulled right from Cubby’s sweatshirt!
We take time to play…We make everyday colorful…
We stop and remember to be thankful (me…for my cute little Babies in this picture!)
And we learn new things every day…
And, that’s our “normal” day!Until next time…G’Nite!

“One of the most emotionally stirring books I’ve ever read….a reminder that a mother’s love for her child is a powerful, eternal, unshakable force.”
