I wish I could really describe what it’s like. When we’re there and all the planets are aligned and things are just as they should be…and there are constant moments of thinking, This here? This is beautiful. I know I say ‘beautiful’ all the time on this blog, but it is and, for all the posts I’ve dedicated to the Isles of Capri, today’s is perhaps the summit while all the others were just stops on the climb. Because yesterday, when I was there, I saw the entire landscape–things I’ve never seen before–and there, on the beach with my family and my friends on my special Mama Day, I staked my claim and raised my flag. This is our Isles of Capri where all the good in our life is turned up a few notches and all we have to do is enjoy it.
The day was storybook with cerulean skies, pillow-perfect clouds and staccato melodies from wood chimes that echoed across the beach. Brett says gravity is different here. Because he swears there is some galactic force that pulls him toward this beach. No seriously, he really does. And while I can’t say he hasn’t had his share of cockameemee ideas, this time he might just be right.
I told Brett on the way home last night, “You know, if going to Isles of Capri was an illegal drug, I’d so be in jail…and I would rot there happily.”
We arrived early and stayed late. We cartwheeled in the sand. We found freaky creatures that fanned gelatinous wings and squirted purple ink.
There was so much color, so much life, so much laughter. Especially when Heidi burrowed into a stack of kayaks to get a good shot and almost died when the kayaks toppled over. Or when we did the Irish jig on the floating dock and I strangely felt the need to say “Irish jig, Irish jig, Irish jig” over and over while I did it. Or when Brett asked what time it was and I whiplashed my head and screamed, “You bite your tongue, Boy. You NEVER EVER ask what time it is on the Isle of Capri.”
And the kids explored the island from the sea grapes to the end of the dock where the barnacles grow. And you can’t help but sit there and smile taking it all in–the happiness here and how it’s so concentrated, so pure after the events of a busy week tend to dilute that purity. Sunday may be the end of a weekend, but it’s still the beginning of a week and starting off like that? You can’t go wrong.

Nella’s First Painted Piggies!
And Nella? Oh, sweet girl. She was made for this island, and all the shells I bent over that big beautiful belly to collect and save throughout my pregnancy here echo the blessed truth that this girl’s presence on the Isle of Capri makes it even more magical, if that’s even possible. She slept in the moses basket, just like Lainey used to do, and was calmed by salty sea breezes and being lulled in the shade.
And then, when we are completely sun-soaked and sand-sprinkled, it happens. The Isle hushes as the clouds part and the water glows, and this giant ball of sun gives the day its last hoorah. That’s when the magic really begins.
And when the sun sinks low, we kiss the day goodbye and trail into the tiki hut to replace cold draft with hot coffee. Last night, the littles danced in their jammies to island tunes as we huddled around a table with friends to play the “If Game.” If you could meet one person, dead or alive, who would it be? If you could vacation anywhere in the world for seven days with your family right now, where would it be? If you could… And the questions continued as we laughed and teased about answers, sipping coffee from styrofoam cups, all the while watching crazy, tired, heat-exhausted littles spinning circles on the old wood floors and doing that whole hysteric laugh thing that comes when you haven’t had any sleep and your friends are really, really funny.
I love my Island babies and the way they smell of sunscreen and salt at the end of the night. I like baby wipe baths and how they take the sand off but leave just enough of the beach so that later, when I’m cuddled in bed with them in the middle of the night, I can close my eyes and still smell that coconutty sweetness and remember just how magical the day was.
And, yesterday, I had a job. I said I’d do it when she was born and things would be just fine when I did. And, with a happy heart, I added a dollar to the beam of the bar that overlooks the beach where we make our magic. And things were just fine. And they will be.
What a happy Mother’s Day it was.
Have I said how happy this place makes me?
“Maybe we should develop a Crayola bomb as our next secret weapon. A happiness weapon. A beauty bomb. And every time a crisis developed, we would launch one. It would explode high in the air – explode softly – and send thousands, millions, of little parachutes into the air. Floating down to earth – boxes of Crayolas. And we wouldn’t go cheap, either – not little boxes of eight. Boxes of sixty-four, with the sharpener built right in. With silver and gold and copper, magenta and peach and lime, amber and umber and all the rest. And people would smile and get a little funny look on their faces and cover the world with imagination.” ~Robert Fulghum
And speaking of happiness…my bathing suit rocks, and one of you commenters gets one. Picture yourself, all sun-kissed and retro fabulous sippin’ lemonade and sinking your toes into the sand. You could bake cookies in this suit, seriously. Pamela at Popina Swimwear designed it herself (with all the curves and fabulousness of a woman’s body in mind, too) and is giving one away to one of you in just your size. Start pickin’ out a hat to go with it. Winner will be picked randomly from comments on this post and will be announced this Wednesday evening. Now, pardon me while I get some work done. We’s got some fairy garden plannin’ to do!
…and I hereby proclaim my apologies for any spelling or grammatical errors I’ve made past, present, or fewchure. xoxo

Beautiful, as ever 🙂 <3 you’re amazing Kelle! xxxx
I love all the pictures! Makes me long for summer! Hopefully its around the corner! Love the bathing suit!
That pic with you and Nella with your hair down is absolutely stunning. I wish I had someone to take pictures of me and my little girl.
Love the bathing suit!!!
I lived in Florida most of my life and I have never been to the Isles of Capri and it looks like I really missed out. I will be back there for a visit soon and will have to make a special trip there!
I love this! I love days that feel like the music montage scene in a movie… and yes, your suit is amazing 🙂
The red suit is great on you! I would love a chance at one. 🙂 I love all the happy and uplifting blogs you write. It makes my Monday just that much better.
What a beautiful picture you paint with your words! The bathing suit rocks!
I just love your suit, I’d love one! I would also love an island like yours. 😉
I love to read your blog. So honest, warm and beautiful. Nella must be the most beautiful little girl I´ve ever seen. I look forward to read more of your stories.
I smiled the whole time reading this Loved it…It really relaxed me…thanks! <3

Your family is so precious!
I was coveting that swimsuit the whole post. =)
All those pictures make me wish the weather in NH would hurry up and WARM UP so we can take advantage of our own beach.
So many lovely moments captured. Love it. Thank you for reminding us all to live a little more. Bless you!!
So glad you were able to spend your special day at a place that makes you crazy happy! Looks like you rocked Mother’s Day!

Thank you for your fantastic job that reminds me how wonderful it is to be a mommy! And thank you for the fun giveaway, too :).
Having been with you there many times, it is fun to know right where you are standing for every photograph. Yes, the Isles are so Key Westy–where time is of no consequence, where there are no distinction of class or culture, where moments are measured in laughter and sunshine, where breezes seem to arrive from exotic places far away and music is from muses who know you and what you need to hear and a cold beer is a balm and two are the bomb. There is something strangely spiritual about a day there…or is it just the collection of souls you are with and the fact they are tuned to just enjoy the day. It is hard to leave there. Thank you for letting us peek in on the fun. And the photo of my gal Heidi dancing on the floating dock looks frighteningly like her hair is caught in the propeller of the boat motor behind her…explaining her dancing, I am sure! See you next weekend for the Fairy Party…I am mending the small hole in the knee of my leotards for my fairy costume.
We should all look at the world through Crayola colored glasses like you do, Kelle! Thanks SO much for your unceasing perspective on the beauty that is Reality. Your family is gorgeous. (As is your swimsuit!)
What a wonderful, special day. I just found your blog and am in love!
And I *really* need a new bathing suit!
Kimberly

I am so jealous! HOw I would love to spend my mother’s day at the beach! And the bathing suit is so stylin!
You’re seriously making me crave summer like there is no tomorrow. The beach, to me, is like a little bit of magic right on here on Earth, mixed right in with all the stubbed toes, parking tickets, and Mondays that a part of life. Please go back soon and post more pictures…you owe it to your readers. Call it a responsibility or an obligation…whichever will get you back there the soonest. 😉
-McCall
The bathing suit rocks..and I am a little jealous of your life 😉
I am in awe of your ability to see great beauty in everything! I am addicted to your blog!
I can’t help but smile when I see your blog pop up in my feed. You and your family are so beautiful – your smiles seriously radiate off the computer monitor 🙂
I bought an old copy of digital image suite 9 and have been feverishly trying to learn to use it and create pages as pretty as yours since I received it in the mail yesterday afternoon!
100th time reader, but 1st time commenter…You’re blog inspires. I have twins and when the days are long, I try to ride your happy wave and just enjoy the moments as they come. And. cherish. them. Thank you!

I’m a big fan of the retro suit, and your timeless beauty. I’ve actually started putting my hair in two braids like you do even though I thought it would look childish on me. maybe it does, but I love it!
Oh the sunshine looks heavenly! As for the Crayola bomb – Robert Fulghum has a great idea!
My post-baby body would love that suit!
what a fun mother’s day for you! I think, though, that with your delightful, wise, insightful way of living life, you could have turned a day at the dump into a magical Mother’s day:)! You are awesome. your story is beautiful and your bathing suit is very fun! Thanks Kelle!
The pictures of Lainey against the sunset are amazing. Nice to see everyone holding Nella and passing around the love. I agree about the whole salt and sunscreen smells, makes the little ones seem even yummier.
Happy Mothers Day to all. The hardest, funnest, and best job in the world!! 🙂
Despite living in Southern California, I am deeply jealous of your beachy Isles – it looks beautiful, and the time shared seems just so precious!
I love reading your blog while at work and pretending that rather than sitting at a desk all day, that I am on the Isle of Capri…In the warm Florida sunshine…I long for the days of being too hot and getting a little “overbaked” while listening to the laughs of kiddos nearby!
I too long for a FANTASTIC Popina suit…. 🙂
I have been following your blog since Miss Nella was born. I love your writing but mostly I love your story and the way you tell it. The swimsuit would be icing on the cake!!!
i seriously doubt that any of us could look as cute (AND THIN?!!?) as you do in that suit…but i’d be willing to give it a try. 🙂
If you’re grammatical errors our wrong, I don’t wanna be write! 😉
Looks like a perfect day to me! Just what a Mama like you deserves! The best and more!
What a magical mother’s day!
As always, your blog rocks! I was so honored to have my picture posted a few weeks ago (life in our home contest), but now I’m thinking I could really use a swim suit like that!
I love seeing you experience life through your children. I love doing the same thing… imagine how much our stories are going to mean to them (and to us) in the future!
http://niffer-all-grown-up.blogspot.com
I love, LOVE your blog and visit most days. I love how you stay positive about every thing that life gives you!
I am in desparate need of a new suit — having *finally* lost the last bit of my baby weight!

Your bathing suit does rock and so does your gorgeous family!
Cudos to you, for making a student that’s grumpy because she has to stay inside all day studying for her last exams feel so much happier. Thanks for giving me and my books a glimps of the sun today!
oh..nella’s little painted toes..oh kelle how much cuter can anything be!
you and heidi were supposed to be sisters..i call these people in my life sista (hope i spelled that right…hmmm….if not i am sure someone will let me know…just hope they don’t visit my blog!HA!) i am jealous that i only get to participate in your friendship from a distance…and even from a distance it is so lovely.
one of our favorite new songs is “crayola doesn’t make a color for your eyes”….kristin andreassen. so many colors in life to experience so many flavors to taste.
for those of us who come for the beauty and not the perfection (although it is just perfect to me) you never let me down my dear friend!♥♥
Oh my… that seems a little bit of fabulous! Thankfully, your photos are the next best thing to being there!!!
What a relaxing idyllic Mother’s Day you had! Love the pics AND the cute suit.
I can just feel the joy in every picture of your day. I hope you carry it through the week!
This island sounds wonderful. I dream of it when it is cold and raining here in Minnesota. I love your blog! It is a breath of fresh air.
happy mother’s day! your day sounds like heaven on earth 🙂
What a great Mother’s Day!
For some reason, the dollar bill with Nella’s name written in her own personal font stuck with me! So sweet. I am glad your mothers day was beautiful!
What a wonderful Mother’s Day you had! Lainey & Nella are true Blessings from God. Love your blog! Have a wonderful day! 🙂
I need to move to Florida. Seriously. What a beautiful place!! The beaches in Texas are a joke compared to then ones in your neck of the woods!!
I love those painted this piggies too!!! I LOVE painting my daughter’s (15 months) toes. EVEN at Nella’s age. PRECIOUS!!
Looking back to the day you had Nella. All of the heartache. Who would have thought that 3 months later… You would be happier than you ever thought possible?! God works in mysterious ways, sister.
BLESSINGS!!!!!
So…My favorite photos are all the feet ones!! So sweet!!! You look beautiful with your hair down holding Nella.
I would love to win, not sure I could rock the swimsuit quite as well as you….But I would sure try! 🙂

You look fabulous in your new swimsuit Kelle! Lainey and Nella are precious (as usual :D)
Isle of Capri looks fantastic and I’m thinking I might need to take a road trip to visit this heavenly place.
Happy (belated) Mother’s Day!
Really – the way you love your life makes me love my life more. I would love a bathing suit to fit into summer, to slide into the lake or lay by the pool.
Thank you for loving Nella the way you do, it brings me joy just to hear about her!
Happy Mother’s Day!!!
Kelle, I came across your blog recently and am really inspired by you. You have a beautiful family!
Those suits are amazing. I love reading your blog and seeing all of the amazing pictures, especially since we are still getting snow in Vermont 🙁 It actually snowed on Mother’s Day~sigh. At least i can live vicariously through this blog.
Looks like the perfect Mother’s Day. I wish we were closer to the beach. We are taking a trip in July though!
I need a new swimsuit for our beach trip! I would love to win!
sounds like it was quite the magical day … looks like everyone had a blast.
I’m a first time commenter too! Are you seeing a pattern here? Your blog is fantastic and you truly have a gift for words and images. More than that, you have a contagious sense of Happiness! You you just love life and are passing it on. Thanks for that! I do love that bathingsuit, it’s just fantastic on you! Not even quite sure that the suit would look great on me. This post-baby body has a ways to go!
Looking forward to hearing all about the Fairy Garden Party!
Thank you Kelle for sharing your beautiful life with me and making me want to find the beauty in mine!
(oh how i love your swim suit)
Wow, what a magical day. My parents live in Naples in the winter and we are lucky enough to visit, from the cold tundra up north, a few times each year…and now I am dying to go to Capri! Capri & having you photograph our family would be amazing! Let’s make that happen!!
as a mama who finds myself (not-so-professionally) always BEHIND the camera … that is what i really want for mother’s day. to have my picture taken with all 3 kiddos.
lucky for me … jeremy didn’t buy me a gift … yet.
you and your sweet girls are so beautiful.
What an unreal day! Looks perfect!
Gorgeous photos, as always! And you look rockin’ fabulous in that suit.
Girl, you don’t EVEN look like you have had a baby recently! You look great in that suit. I wouldn’t look as good, but I’d sure love to try!!
*fewchure*…you crack me up! I love it, love this post (as I always love your posts) Nellabean and Lainey are just precious and if we ever vacation in FL, we are sooo going to your Isle and soaking up some of the deliciousness you describe so well…until then, I really do hope I win that fabulous swim suit!
I adore the bathing suit, but am much more envious of the sand and sea salt air.. though I live on the Atlantic Coast of Canada – summer is not here yet.. so I look longingly at your beautiful photos and figure in another month or two I will have that heat and sand and salt -but still not those fabulous photo taking skills! Love your blog!
Your bathing suit is awesome! I would love a chance to win one!
Your bathing suit is awesome! I would love a chance to win one!
i so need an isle of capri near houston. and i so need a new bathing suit to make myself feel better about my 3 months post-baby #3 body!

Jen G.
I found your blog from life rearranged and your story just touched me. Your girls are so beautiful and your family just seems truly amazing. I am trying to find the good in my life as you seem to do so gracefully and I can’t tell you what an inspiration your story is to me. Thank you for sharing your life and your family!!
I have been reading your posts since i found out about your website. You are such a great Mommy, and both girls are so lucky to have you. Hope you enjoyed your Mother’s Day.
What a great place to spend Mother’s day! That swimsuit is too cute…and Nella’s painted piggies made my day :o)
I love Lainey’s sunglasses!!! This post makes me long for summer!
I’ve been a regular reader of your blog for some time now but haven’t commented before… you are the reason I got my Canon for my thirtieth birthday this past March. Seeing your pictures, I felt like I was somehow letting my kids down not documenting their life as well as you do. I am LOVING the camera and taking a zillion more pictures than I used to.
I love the swimsuit too. Red & white polka dots remind me of Minnie-Mouse-pre-Playhouse-Disney and I Love Lucy at the same time, both very cool and very retro and very fun.
Thank you for inspiring me.
That was seriously a wonderful mother’s day!! Happy belated Mom’s day to all the mom’s who follow Kelle’s blog and to you too Kelly!!
I love your blog…it is so refreshing to see you live your life the way you do. You have a beautiful family and such precious girls!
Oh your blog makes me laugh, smile, cry, and hunger for more! I think you found your support group among family and friends on the Isle of Capri! Love the suit! I will have to check the designer out since I live in Oregon. Happy Belated Mother’s Day! Thank you for being such a positive voice for our little almond eyed beauties!
Amber
This post makes me want to gather up my little family and move there. Your family is absolutely beautiful and I love your warm, happy, beautiful posts. They brighten my day. Every. Day.
I love the swimsuit as well!!
looks like lots of fun! and wow- what a swimsuit 🙂
Looks like you had such a fabulous time! I absolutely LOVE polka dots and red is my absolute favorite color so this bathing suit is super fabulous!!!
Your girls are absolutely adorable!
Love your blog!
You truely captured the day! Beautiful!
You just made my day better, you elude happiness! Photos are great, and I need to find my own Isle Of Capri here in Oregon.
i am so jealous of your magical isle. we live far far away from the beach and while we have magical places here, nothing quite compares to the salty, sandy sprays of the ocean’s waters edge. your blog often lightens my load and reminds me of the preciousness of my own littles. thank you for sharing your heart.
What a beautiful post, and a beautiful swimsuit!
I was so hoping that yesterday was wonderful and full of joy and laughter! Yay!
I snuggled up with my own little monster and took lots of pictures and tried not to worry about anything but just “smile. click. smile. click.”
I wish we had an Isle of Capri in Phoenix! We took our little guy swimming for the first time ever for mothers day (90 degrees in May makes for good swimming weather!) and it was so magical! Love your blog, as always! Happy Mother’s Day!
Leah

Wonderful!!! I LOVE the last picture of you!
What a lovely way to spend mother’s day. I love the picture book quality of your posts. So much color and so much life. Love your suit and they way it coordinates with Lainey’s.
Beautiful, as always. I had a great Mother’s Day myself, but I think you’ve really set the bar high. Once again, I’m feeling inspired by your post – even though today is just another Monday, I’m going to make it a point to make is special.
I love your swim suit. 🙂
Just found your blog- you inspire me. thanks for being YOU.
Oh, and you look stunning in that adorable bathing suit- love it.
Love the pictures. Happy Mothers Day!
So when can I come? This is the most relaxing yet fun post Ive read in a while!
You painted such an amazing picture of not just your special place, but your special day! Amazing… as always! Thanks for sharing!!
I am not sure what it is about your posts, but I tear up every time. I love the happiness that shines through your writing. There are days that I wish I could be blissfully happy like that! 🙂 Time to find my own happy place!!
Perfect post, as always.
I look forward to your posts every week! So beautiful and remind me of all the small things in life.
What an awesome mothers day! You deserve it!
Happy momma’s day! LOVE the swimsuit–looks fab on you. Love to have one myself!
You have inspired me! I asked for a DSLR camera for Mother’s Day and got one! We spent the whole day at the park and I took hundreds of pictures of MY littles. I have a lot of practice before my pictures are as pretty as yours, but the subjects, oh, they’re divine. Thank you!
I am so fully of envy of your day, your friends, your little girls with painted toes and sticking-out-tongues.
But not jealous, because that sounds so mean. Envious because your life is beautiful, and I couldn’t be happier for you. I mean, as a stranger and all.
Love,Love, Love the last picture of you! Your Mother’s day rocked!
Jenn
Long time reader, first time commenter. 🙂 I almost feel like a stalker because I mention you (and your blog) to friends as if I know you. You are so uplifting & beautiful inside and out; it’s hard to not have a slight girl crush on you.
One of my favorite parts of your posts are your dad’s comments. Does he have a blog? Because he needs one!
I love how you seem to make even the most basic of words so beautiful. Glad you enjoyed your wonderful mothers day. You deserve it!

What an incredible way to spend Mother’s Day!!!
I was going to comment anyway to tell you how highly inappropriate it is for a woman who gave birth mere months ago to look so damn good in a bathing suit, but since you’re giving one away, I’ll just be hopeful to catch it. 🙂
Wishing for summer on this chilly day! Found some warmth in your blog, and it made me smile for the months that are on their way…
This bathing suit isw the first one that has caught my eye in years and I absolutley am in love with the red polka dots…..Oh I hope I win…..I bet it has been 10 years since I have bought a bathing suit…
Love, love your blog. LOVE this bathing suit too. Need it. I really do. Your blog inspires me, your photography is beautiful…so, SO wish we lived closer so you could capture my boys in the same beautiful way you do your girls. Blessings on you and your family.
I love that you get to spend long warm days outside with your family. We had a cold mother’s day and we dressed my baby girl up nice and warm and cuddled close in warm blankets, and it was pretty special too 🙂
Thank you again for sharing your wonderful life with us!
How could I resist to comment when that suit is so awesome. Inspired regularly by your love for life. Thanks Kelle. Happy mother’s day!
It sounds like your day was as magical as mine. I love that Robert Fulgram quote. I used to teach that essay in my 9th grade English class before I left teaching to be a mom…the best career ever!
I want that swimmin’ suit!!
I found your blog at such a perfect time in my life. Your pictures and words make me feel so warm and happy. You’re such a beautiful woman. I recently bought some Goody brand flower clips to put in my hair. You always look so stunning, I’m not sure I can pull it off like you do but I’ll give it a try. You are so inspiring to me and for that I want to thank you. I’m so in love with the retro bathing suit, polka dots never get old. The color red always has a way of making a woman feel confident.
What a beautiful mother’s day!!! I love the pictures (as usual) and your wonderful story made me feel like I was there . . . like this was my mother’s day present. Thanks for sharing!
You take such great pictures! They tell such a great story!
What a lovely lovely post… and bathing suit too!!

So jealous of you and the beautiful beach right now!
Kelle, you truly do have a way with words. What a beautiful family! …and holy cow your body rocks for having just had a baby!!! 🙂
What a wonderful day! It makes me want to jump on a plane to hit the beach in Florida! I love your blog. I have my own set of amazing girls the same ages as yours. My big girl Macy has that little something extra in her chromosomes. She will be 3 in June and is such a little mama to “her” baby. Little sis’ Monet is 3 months old.
Love the swimsuit and can’t wait until it is warm enough here in Utah to rock one out!
What a beautiful day! My Abbey is looking over my shoulder as I am reading (she’s two), and keeps saying, “oh, pretty girls!”
Beautiful pictures, beautiful blog. I’m so glad I found you.
And yes, I love the suit. 🙂
Just beautiful Kelle, what a magical day with friends and family! Now I need to rush off and edit MY Mama’s Day pics to post for family & friends! Love the swimsuit!
I love your pictures and your take on life. I was admiring that bathing suit in every picture of you and wanted to ask where you got it….I think I shall have to check out that website and order one for myself!!
What a perfect day! I dream of day’s like that!
Oh could you post a contest where we could trade places for a day 😉 That beach is beautiful!!!!!
I don’t have kids and for maybe the first time, your blog makes me wish I did. So glad you had such a great Mother’s Day. Love your writing – and Poppa’s.
Thanks!
I don’t have kids and for maybe the first time, your blog makes me wish I did. So glad you had such a great Mother’s Day. Love your writing – and Poppa’s.
Thanks!
Wow, we don’t have places like that in Ontario but I’m so looking forward to our first family vacation to a rented cottage this summer. When we’re there I’ll pretend we’re on the Isle and I could use a new swimsuit to make the fantasy complete!
Looks like you had a great mother’s day. I look forward to your fewchure posts!
How could I not love your blog? I’m a kellehampton.com stalker, officially. Thanks for sharing!
I absolutely LOVE your swim suit. I’m embarrassed to say I still have the same one I wore in HS! Eeek!
Oh how I enjoyed this post! I want to go there! I’m curious…how far of a drive is Isle of Capri for you? It’s sounds so wonderful and so convenient! (Your evening photos are always my favorite!)
Love your suits…and the little’s suits,too!)
What an amazing life you are living there on your Isle of Capri. BEAUTIFUL!!!
Oh that place is beautiful. It’s a perfect place for such a lovely family. Great post as always, I look forward to them every day.
Just reading your posts makes my day better!
Oh how I crave the salted air of the beach. I live through you and your posts as I’m now a desert rat. The way you describe your days at the beach I swear I can close my eyes and feel as though I’m there. Thank you for that. And your rockin that suit girl!
Funny….I just sent the links to this and a couple other suits on Popina’s website to my mother this morning (who has been hounding me for weeks for suggestions on gifts for my 30th birthday in a mere 19 days…..ahhh, youth. I will miss it so). I’m so tickled you and the girls had such a great day together! Is there anything sweeter than a snoozing baby? I can’t think of anything at present…..
i was just thinking that i should ask the hubs for one of those suits….even more perfect if i could win one 🙂
I have no idea how I stumbled upon your blog, but each day as I read it I generally close the window out with tears in my eyes and a renewed since of joy in my heart. Thank you for sharing your life and heart so candidly. I totally dig your suit too…
Kelle,
The way you describe your time a the beach is wonderful….I can smeel the salt and coconut oil mixed together!!! I long for a day at the beach. I always call my time at teh beach “My Happy Place”!
Just breathing in that air is warming to the heart!
I can not imagine you already speaking for a DS group. I remember visiting one when my sweet baby was born….I looked at my husband and said that was not for me! As my child has gotten older, we have been a little more involved because Malone has his friends in the group. There are times when you can look to a group for knowledge but I think you and your family are doing just fine!!!!
Happy Mother’s Day, Kelle! It sounds like your day was perfect.
Bri
P.S. I need to find myself an isle of capri.
So glad you all had such a beautiful “mama’s day”!! Perfection = Nella’s toes! OMG too precious!
Sue
Love your suit!
this is my favorite isle of capri post to date. although, you wrote about it so perfectly, that i am still basking in it’s glory from yesterday that i may never get my post done.

I would be…

ecstatic
if i won that bathing suit!
There is nothing better in the world than the smell of “left over beach” after a long day relaxing in the sun. I can’t wait to take it in on my little this summer. Looks like you had a loved Mother’s Day.
Lovin the suit!
You captured the magic of Isle of Capri perfectly. Brings back many memories of growing up on the island. And that bathingsuit ROCKS!!! Maybe if the stars align I will be able to win one. Thanks for such an uplifting blog Kelle!
Wow! looks like a wonderful mothers day! Love your posts it helps me to keep positive! thanks!

What a wonderful day you had! It was 40 and rainy here so I am extra super jealous. That suit sure would make me feel better…
Love this pic of you and Nella with your hair down! And love the Irish jig 🙂 We had a fabulous Mother’s day as well…simply beautiful! Thanks for sharing yours 🙂
..and BTW, today is Mother’s Day in all of Latin America, so maybe we should continue to celebrate en español! Feliz Dia De Las Madres!
Love the suit, photos, your beautiful daughters. Looks like an amazing day!
beautiful pictures! would love to go to the isle of capri!
My mother’s day was magical too, though blustery and midwestern May-ish…still. That bathing suit would be wonderful come July! 🙂
This sounds absolutely magical. Makes me want to plan a trip there right now. What a great day. Happy mother’s day!
I have your “Nella Cordelia” song stuck in my head…..I’ll have to tweak the words a little bit, but I’m singing it to my own little today. 🙂
Sweet pictures – and what a beautiful day!! With the Isle of Capri so close, there is no need for a vacation. You live in paradise!!
Happy Mom’s Day, Kelle. Sending a crayola bomb your way! 🙂
I love Lainey on her little boogie board with her uber-girlie sunglasses. I’m so glad you had a beautiful and wonderful Mother’s day.
I love your blog – it is awesomely beautiful! Thank you!
I always look forward to your blogs. They invoke such a feeling of warmth, love and happiness that they really are little gems I savor reading. The pictures only add to that :o) Where you live seems absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous, and your family that is also absolutely breathtakingly gorgeous fits right in. You have such beautiful girls and your husband seems amazing. You are an inspiration to how I hope to be as a mamma. (I’m due June 5 with a little girl :o) ) I wish I could magically *poof* myself to the Isles where you were or just the town where you live because it seems so wonderful and warm, and reading your posts for the time it takes to read them does magically poof me there :o) Thank you! I’m glad you had a wonderful mother’s day!!
Your day looks perfect. Thanks for sharing it with us.
What is that creature? Amazing. I made my husband come look. 🙂
Love love love that suit.
Happy Mother’s Day! Your posts leave me with a smile every single day.
You describe your life as if it’s so filled with beauty–it encourages me to look for the beauty in my own. Thank you.
Love Nella’s painted piggies! Before you know it, they won’t dangle above the sand but will touch it. She will light up the place!
What a beautiful Mother’s Day! and the suit is fabulous!
I’m inspired by your happiness!
happy mothers day!
-kristen
I’ve been coveting that swimsuit! It’s hard to find cute one pieces. I just love reading your blog, it inspires me to “enjoy the small things” each and every day!
Cute suit!!!! Going to check out her website now.
You have inspired me to start planning my next vacation…
Thanks for inspiring me to start reading blogs (how did I not do this before??!) Since Nella’s birth story I’ve been following your blog and it always brings a smile to my face.
Love the bathing suit too! =)
just went i thought Nella was not with you guys she pops up! whew! Mother’s day rocks doesn’t it? xo
Your Isles of Capri is our Lake Michigan Beach on Sleeping Bear Dunes.. the malt shop in Empire, the petoskey stones we collect… We just have to wait a little bit longer for beach weather than you do. 🙂
Thanks for openning up your life and heart to us, your eager readers!
We’ve been trying to move to S. Florida for years. And finally we are almost there. Hopefully within a few months! Your bathing suit is awesome, your babies are awesome…life is awesome!
What a beautiful day at the beach! It looks like you all had a great time 🙂
This is my first time commenting on your blog, and I have just have to say.. I love your gorgeous little family and the place you live! Makes me want to move there.
I am so glad that you had a *beautiful* Mother’s Day.

I hope my husband and I are as happy and wonderful parents as you and your husband seem to be. Though I dont know you personally, just feel like I know you by just reading your blog, you can tell how much you love your family, friends and life. What a great rolemodel. Thank you. What great pictures.
I was just thinking as I read this post how great it would be to be all fabulous and retro like you are in the suit! You make your Mother’s Day sound so perfect! I wish so badly we were near the ocean…oh but no- smack dab in the midle of the US. One day maybe we can breath in that blessed salty air and just relax for a while…until then I will just have to live off the memories of it 🙂
So beautiful! Your words and your photos always make my heart ache in the very best way.
I don’t need the draw of the bathing-suit to comment on this post. I was going to anyway. My day started out a little cloudy…and this post just made it a whole lot more sunny. You never need to apologize for ‘typo’s’, your words are beautiful.
Plus, I’ve never seen one 🙂
love your blog, your photographs, and that swimsuit!! oh how i need a new swimsuit!
I so look forward to reading this blog. It makes me so excited to one day be a mommy.
Also, I love the swimsuit!
Beautiful! Hold on…I’m on my way.
i’ve always loved taking pictures and the great impact the memories make….you inspire me to do it more often. thank you for sharing your awesomeness!
I totally would bake cookies while wearing that suit. It would go perfectly with my 50’s-esk apron.
I just wanted to say how beautiful your heart is. You make me want to be the best mother/sister/daughter/friend I can be.
Thank you for sharing your life with us!
Meghan
I want an Isle of Capri…don’t think i can get one in Minnesota 🙁
Looks fabulous!
Beautiful sunshiney day!! Lovely pics. I am daily encouraged to love my children more thanks to you. So thanks 🙂 And that bathing suit is gorgous!
I love Nella’s painted toenails. Adorable!! And Lainey’s surfer-girl shirt. It was fun to hear about your Mother’s Day. Mine was pretty great too – but without the beach. I would love to win this rockin swimsuit…I have had fun looking over the Popina Swimwear site with so many beautiful designs. It would just make my summer to win one!
Wowee! What a weekend. Just when you think it can’t get any better! It appears it just goes ride and does. Hey, I have earring almost like the ones you are wearing! I have them on in my most recent post! I love that breezy picture of Nella in the basket and you jumping in the air in that divine suit!
If I could be a different person for a week I would like to be you!! I would like to see the world through your eyes, your lens.. And to make things even more special I would love to spend a day at the beach and be carefree, just for a couple of hours before going back to my normal routine…
I’ve been addicted to your blog since I saw it on Rosie’s and I don’t even have kids! 🙂 I just love your outlook on life & get a good laugh/smile from each post. thanks for sharing with your stranger-friends. And a bathing suit would be super cool, of course!
oops meant “right ahead”

your words transport me to the beach with you and i would give almost anything to snuggle Nella. we missed out on some of the little stages with my niece with down sydrome {we are still in the adoption process but have had her since her first birthday} and my heart aches for those missed moments.
What a beautiful place, that Isle of Capri! You’re very fortunate!
And, please, never refrain from using such expressions as “gifted me”. I almost fell off my chair. Sheesh! Your blog is wonderful and so is your writing- but, I didn’t need to tell you that!
Oh how lovely it would be to romp around in that suit! I’ll look like a crazy lady in May in Ohio!
I’m a newish subscriber to your blog. I love your story and your writing and your photos, but I love the warmth and joy that shine through your posts the most. Your swimsuit’s pretty cute, too, so I couldn’t resist leaving a comment so I can win one too!
Oh, how I wish there was a Isle near Chicago that we could escape to. Sounds like a magical day and you look magical in that swim suite! Hope I get one too!
I’m glad you had such a fabulous mother’s day 🙂
I would also have to agree that the picture with your hair down is gorgeous! It doesn’t matter where you are, whether it is a sunny beach in Florida, or a park in the middle of Denver, CO, enjoying life with our littles is the best gift of all.
So lovely! when it comes to the most amazing mother’s day ever, i’m thinking you win.
I get so giddy when I open my reader and I see I have new posts to read here. It makes me even giddier when I walk away and do some work and come back and there’s ANOTHER new post from you. TWO FOR ONE! Score! Sign me up for that suit. I love it.
Also, you make me want to live in the Isle of Capri. Seriously.
So beautiful and magical! I <3 the retro suit. I am still in awe over how positive you are Kelle. Inspirational
Beautiful day! Nella is just delicious in that basket. I’m glad you got the day you wanted.
Aimee

ooh i would love to look retro fabulous in one of those gorgeous suits!
I’m totally in love with that Robert Fulghum quote…and I’d look pretty rockin’ in that bathing suit. Kelle, you inspire me.
Can I please come visit you? Pretty please? 🙂
We’re heading to Florida in a few weeks for a family beach trip and you’ve made me THAT much more excited with this post.
Glad your Mother’s Day was magical, Kelle!
Beautiful pictures! As always…
uh huh! so, i got on VERY shortly after you posted this blog and thought to myself “WOW 194 comments already?” and at the end…i see why! 🙂 not that your posts aren’t super amazing and that we don’t all go crazy and try our hardest to be the 1st comment anyway, but geesh i was still confused! So…now to my original comment! lol I am from PA, good ole’ Lake Erie region and well, i am an Ocean beach fanatic, so what better would i have to do then to google search your wonderful “isle of capri” thinking, HOW CAN I GET THERE? i want my 2 yr old to have as much of a fabulous time as your amazing Lainey and Nella get to have! Don’t worry tho…i wouldn’t just show up to your happy place all stocker like! 😉
Love your posts and i am glad to hear you had a superb mother’s day! Keep on blogging Kelle! you make my days when i’m here at work!
~Christy, Erie,PA
Holy Mother of God, Nella’s toenails. Okay well I’ll just have to go read the rest of the blog later because I am STUCK on that picture and can’t move. It was nearly the first thing I did with my girls when they were babies and I LOVE IT SO MUCH. I am obsessed with baby feet, completely over the top obsessed. Okay gonna try to go read the rest!!! 🙂
sounds like a wonderful Momma’s Day!! 🙂
This place looks so awesome and I’ve been waiting patiently for you to post pics! I am so envious that you and your friends have such a cool spot to hang out and be worry free! I am glad you got to spend Mother’s Day how you wanted too, as did I! You have a beautiful family and you live life to the fullest which is what ALL of us should be doing! You go girl!
Cheyenne P.
I love your Isle of Capri posts! I’m so glad you got to go to your secret island for mother’s day!
the suit rocks. 🙂 oh i wish i had an isle like that. *sigh*
A beautiful post as always! I love looking at your pictures – makes me want to document my life with my little man as thoroughly as you capture yours.
And boy oh boy does my post – baby bod need a cuuuute retro swimsuit like that!
oh how I wish I were near a beach right now.
Such a gorgeous place! That sounds like the perfect way to spend a mother’s day. I can’t wait until summer hits us up here (in Canada!).
I want to bring my own littles (my special one and my new one) to the Isle of Capri to play, too! It’s far from Michigan, though.
Also love the suit – would it be kind to my new mommy figure?
What an intensely magical place! It makes me want to go out and find a spot like that to call my own….
Beautiful post, beautiful pics as always..You have inspired me so much! And praying to the universe that I get the suit;)..Cos I love love love it:)
Oh wow. I could actually SMELL, taste, and feel everything about your day at the beach after reading that. IT totally took me back to the couple of times I was blessed to be able to go to a beach when I was a child.
We don’t live anywhere near an ocean. I clearly remember the JOY in my mother’s voice when she excitedly told us that she would take us to see a “for real ocean” on a trip that summer. IT was awesome!
I still to do this day have the star fish I kept from that trip. It is in a glass jar sitting in my bathroom now. Brings a smile on my face whenever I look at it.
HAPPY HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY to you!!
As a landlocked Albertan, I certainly wish that I could jet off to a day like that! Gorgeous.
My favorite thing about the photos – the wardrobe changes. Esp. Lainey’s.
Love, Love, Love it.
What can be more beautiful than a life enjoyed?! Thank you for sharing your magic.
So… my mother’s day just bombed (big time!!!), but I love reading your blog! It always cheers me up just a little if I need it!
so fabulous! I can’t wait until next Mother’s Day when I have another baby to add to the celebration.
I enjoy your blog so much…thank you for sharing all of your wonderful experiences.
I think you’re right about this post and that place being BEAUTIFUL! I want to be there with my family! Thanks for sharing 🙂
Your pictures are so amazing, you should get a commission for anyone that visits there or chooses to move there…it looks fab!
And how is it possible you just had a baby? You look good, mama!
Love the swimsuit . . .and the beach!

You said “I wish I could really describe what it’s like.”
I think you just did. Beautiful post as always, made me feel the sun reflecting off my cheeks.
If I’m ever in the area, I’m spending a day at the Isle of Capri.
Jaime
what a great mother’s day!
oh one word: perfection!!
Kelle you are super fabulous! What a great Mother’s Day. You are an amazing mother and definitely earned your day at Capri.
Its funny, I was thinking the whole way through your post “I have to search this blog to find out where Kelle got her bathing suit!” I know you mentioned it in a previous post then wha-bam… Your doing a giveaway 🙂
Beautiful beautiful post. 🙂
Marla @ http://www.asthefarmturns.wordpress.com
Happy Mother’s Day Kelle. Thanks for sharing yoru Crayola bomb with the world!
Your blog to me is like isle of capri for you. I can’t help but smile and feel great when I am here. And it always makes me want to go run and hug my babies!
I have 2 Popina bathing suits ordered and on the way to Alabama. Would love another one! Happy Monday!
I want to go there (said as Liz Lemon from 30Rock)
I’m not a beach person…not a sun person. Got married in the middle of winter and our honeymoon was in the snow covered Hocking Hills of Ohio. The last thing I wanted to do was be on a hot, sunny beach, sweating. But your Isle of Capri posts make me almost, just almost, want to give the beach a try again. Love the picture of you and Lainey in the polka-dotted suits. Great mother-daughter duo.

So glad you had great weather! Though something tells me you’d still make a day of it if it were snowing on the beach!
Happy Mom’s Day!
Wish I was there with all of you on the Isle of capri!
Happy Mothers’ Day!!! What a lovely post 🙂 and I freaking LOVE that suit and want one!
Loveity Love that bathing suit!!

Your pictures and descriptions are so vivid, so beautiful.. I almost felt like I was enjoying the sun with you yesterday 🙂
Your blog is wonderful! I am learning little by little to laugh more and love more. I lost that somewhere in my jaded early 20’s but its coming back. Thanks for the inspiration!
I just love your blog! I’m so happy to have found it. It’s so sunny, so sweet, so…fun! I’m always inspired.
That swimsuit rocks!

question — when you go to the beach how do you avoid sand in your camera? I’m always nervous to take my good one with me on the beach because I’m afraid I won’t get the sand out… silly??
Love the suit. 🙂 Glad you had a perfect Mother’s Day.
THANK YOU. Thank you for making a day that started off crappy and just spiraled downward from that–better. I adore reading you, Kelle. You burst with happiness and inspiration and that makes my own heart sing.
Gorgeous family!
I enjoyed reading about your magical Mother’s Day getaway so very much. Beautiful. Oh..and that adorable Popina swimsuit..you rock it girl. It’s such a “happy” suit. I love it!!
Your family is stunning…thank you for your warm words and honesty always.
Glad you had a ‘heavenly’ mommy’s day! you deserve it!
Happy Belated Mother’s Day! I love your blog, SOO INSPIRING!!!
What a perfect day, Painted piggies, sunkissed smiles, sun bonnets, silly dances….oh my, perfection.
As always your blog brings happy smilie tears to my eyes.
Isn’t love wonderful?
I am so glad your mother’s day at the Isles of Capri was everything you had hoped. I also spent my day at the beach. My 8 month old was a total grump, wouldn’t take a nap, ate a fist full of sand and was generally miserable. I cried and we left after just an hour. Oh well. I am thankful to live here in FL where I know that I always get another chance to enjoy our beach. We came home, put miss fussy pants to bed and enjoyed an afternoon in our own backyard pool. It wasn’t what I hoped, but it turned out just fine. Love the pic of Lainey under the no trespassing sign looking all smug. CUTE!
Oh, I apologize. Somehow I entered my comment twice. Please take it out, and take out this one, too. I am really not trying to enter the swimsuit competition 3 times.
This post was a beautiful piece of summer in a cold, rainy day here in Seattle. Thank you for the joy you share and for your light – you are radiant. I love to read your post during my breaks at work as a speech therapist. It reminds me to always view my clients as precious gifts. And aren’t they such beautiful treasure boxes? So many gifts waiting to be unlocked and unveiled!
Aww Happy Mothers Day- You look lovely.
You look amazing in your swim suit-Love the painted piggies photos!
I love your blog…I love your family…I love your suit! You’re an amazing mother, and I look forward to reading your blog everyday!

You know how people jokingly say “Go to you happy place”? Well, I think this fits!
And holding Nella seems like it would fit also. xoxo to her.
I love that suit! It’s hard to find the perfect one, but that looks pretty perfect to me.
Beautiful pictures as always! Glad you had a great Mother’s Day!

Ah, Mother’s Day. I love it to pieces. Last year’s Mother’s Day was spent in the NICU with my first-born. My girl, who we weren’t sure would make it to this Mother’s Day. This year, I snuggled my girl at brunch and kissed her in Central Park. God is so, so good.

and i love the shots with heidi! so glad you had an amazing day! you deserve it!
xo
Love it! Wish I could be there! Also, LOVE the suit!
I love that you painted Nella’s toenails. I ALWAYS kept my girls painted – and let me tell ya, I got no praise from alot of people who thought it was just plain sinful to paint a baby’s toes. I did it anyway ;-))
I love your blog, Kelle! Seeing your girls and your love for them brightens up my day. It’s so refreshing to have someone who focuses on what’s good in life, in a world full of strife and turmoil. Thank you!
P.s. The swimming suit is beautiful!
YAY KELLE! LOL I just LOVED that first picture of you and Nella Au Natural when your hair was down from your braids…. LOVE IT!

Sunkissed cheeks and polka dot bathing suits are the best! We had flurries here in Toronto as a form of torture on Mother’s Day! Love the pics as always… You ladies are lovely! 🙂
What a beautiful getaway! Love all the photos and love the bathing suit! 🙂
I used to live near the Isle…it is beautiful and reading your post makes me miss the warm, sun-kissed sand!
Happy Mother’s Day!
Oh, that picture of you and Nella both looking straight at the camera made my heart smile so big. You are all so beautiful and I am so happy that your day was pure magic.
Thank you for your words and the beauty you share!
Rachael
Smiles all-around! So it’s rumored (in our family) that my father-in-law is seriously thinking about buying a new boat and already has a slip in mind at Isle of Capri! Hoping one day to share in the magic of “the Isle” (and boy, would a Popina bathing suit look cute on our maiden voyage…) Just had to get a Google account, leave a comment and cross my fingers…
Looks like it was an amazing mother’s day for an amazing mama! Gorgeous pictures, beautiful words- spun together perfectly- inspirational post, Kelle!
beautiful family, beautiful beach, beautiful day. 🙂
Isle of Capri looks like a little piece of heaven on earth!!!

What a fun mother’s day! So glad that you got to spend it with your family in such a beautiful place!
And I must admit, I check out that swimsuit on the popina website daily… I want it so bad, but can’t justify the $88 right now. Maybe I will still get it after all!
Your Isle makes me miss the sun – kissed sands of Florida so much! Thanks for sharing your life with us!
What a beautiful way to spend Mother’s Day! You truly look at the beauty in every day life! So inspiring for the rest of us!

And, the bathing suit is a must-have! Thanks for the chance to win one! 🙂
A beautiful Mother’s Day for a beautiful mother. I am so glad that your day with your family was so special. 🙂
What a wonderful day! You make those of us stuck inland in the dreary cold jealous, but a fabulous suit might just cheer me up a bit….
Kelle,
I’d let my life and stress and things not important to get in the way of my life. I rediscovered Google Reader and your blog after a month away. Thank you for helping me realign my priorities. The littles are it. Everything else is pointless.
We need to discuss those Lainey sunglasses. They are most certainly the cutest kid glasses I’ve ever seen!
Even though I am the 328th person to read and comment on your blog post, I wish I could explain to you how much I LOVE your blog…how much I LEARN from your blog…how much I SEE the true beauty of life. I don’t know if you would hang out with me in real life BUT I would pay you a million dollars if you would.
I was looking forward to reading about your sacred isle and all the happiness it brings you! My most favorite pic from this post is the one of Lainey in front of the “No Trespassing” sign. It speaks volumes to how you live life and I respect you so much for it.
I would love to win the swimsuit BUT I would love even more to get to meet you someday.
You ROCK Kelle Hampton!
This made me smile:)
sun-soaked and sand-sprinkled….
I have been reading your blog since I found out about it and I am in love! I am in love with your sweet girls and now with your island! I want to be there too, but I also want that swimsuit, so pick me! Pick me! I’m glad you had such a great Mother’s Day!
I love the isle of capri and can’t wait to finish someday! And oh my how I love your suit! 🙂 Keep on being fabulous!
I love this post… make that every post of yours! What an amazing Mother’s Day! I just started reading your blog a few months ago and I love it. I have to check two or three times a day just incase I miss something!. Thank YOU!
Like all of those comments ahead of mine, I agree that your blog is such a treat! Every post!
I do need to find this Isle of Capris. I’m in Florida, too. And I do adore the bathing suit.
But most of all, I adore those sweet girlies. I have a soft spot for sisters!
Your stories make me long for the Isles of Capri too! If I am ever in that neck of the woods, you can bet that’ll be on the hit list!
It looks like you had the most perfect Mother’s Day. I loved all of Lainey’s different outfits. 🙂
Holy Crap! Over 300 posts WooHoo! Go YOU!
gorgeous photos, as always! I’ve been stalking that bathing suit ever since I saw you in it! I would love to own one of my very own!
Ah I’m envious. I would LOVE to live close to a beach. Maybe someday when I’m rich haha 🙂 I LOVE how you and Lainey have coordinating suits. Its perfect!! Glad you had a wonderful Mother’s day!!
I have always taken lots and lots of photos and gone through many digital point and shoot cameras. I always longed for a digital SLR but have REALLY longed for one since finding your blog. My husband knows how much I like to take photos and after proclaiming that the kids are only little for a short time, presented me with a Canon SLR for Mother’s Day! I am blessed with an amazing husband and two perfect little boys and now I can capture even more of their beauty. Thank you for the inspiration!!
I just love Nellas cute little painted piggies;) I love painting my little girls piggies too..they are just so cute but never thought to take a picture..of course i need to take a picture to remember them..so thanks for that!!:)
Oh my gosh Kelle! Nella’s little toenails are so cute! I just did my baby girls for the first time last week and it is hard work!! Great job!
I love your blog! Your pictures are amazing! I am hoping to see how you designed Lainey’s book (3rd year). It was just beautiful!

I think I need a trip to this magical isle of yours. 🙂
Love the suit, love the littles, love the pictures. <3
My daughter, who is a new mama for the first time needs that suit!
Love this blog–you have enriched both our lives so much. Thank you
Beautiful, Beautiful! Love the swim suit.

i wonder what other people’s ‘isles of capri’ are? i think mine would be the woods- damp, ferny, hushed. we’re out in the pacific nw so there are no sun-drenched anything in these parts. although mother’s day was graced with a blazing sun, peeking through the ever-present clouds. perfect weather for a bike ride (my oldest daughter and i just got new matching watermelon helmets- so ridiculous- yet i know she won’t be caught dead in matching anything in a few short years, so it’s precious.
happy mother’s day, mamas.

Your words are inspiring! I love how much you find beauty in everything! The suit, of course, rocks!
I can feel the love and beauty of your day through your pictures! This is what life is about-love and beauty. And you are embracing that with every inch of your being. Amazing!
Thanks for sharing your day Kelle! I have been following for awhile now… adore the photography, relish in your honesty, giggle at your antics and marvel at your sweet little blessing babies! I have two boys that are the absolute joy and delight of my days. Keep writing and I will keep reading.
p.s. Love the swimming suits!
Your bathing suit DOES rock! You are a stunning Mama! Love the pic of Lainey in the straw hat. Gorgeous babe!
I feel like my beach has nothing on yours!!!!!! And so glad you mentioned the suit!!! The first pic of you in it had me saying “such a cute suit”!!! My husband is Navy and t makes me feel Navy retro when I see things like that 🙂
LOVE Love love your blog! I read it everyday while I sip my coffee.
I am new to your blog, but have found your words and images beautiful, indeed. What a wonderful Mother’s Day.
I need to go to this place! Amazing. How did you get little Nella to be so still to paint her toes? My daughter is only a couple days older then Nella and I just can’t do it. However, my 15 month old SON was perfectly content letting me live out my girly dreams on his toes! Dad wasn’t impressed.
What a beautiful Mother’s Day!
I totally get this post. My sweet family has a place in Oregon that hits the spot just like this one does for your family! I’m so happy your Mother’s Day was magical!
I’m vacationing to Naples, FL this summer, and I would love a retro suit!!! 🙂
What a magical Mother’s Day!
I love your suit and would be sooooo happy to win one for myself! Love your sweet blog….it brings me inspiration and happiness with every post!! XOXO
What a fabulous day! 🙂
As I sit here on a rainy California day (boo!), I am dreaming of spending a day(s) at the beach with my favorites….thank you Kelle for the beautiful pictures and the sweet words that help me getaway for a moment. I love your blog! That swimsuit is gorgeous, especially on a hot mama like you! : ) I am glad that you spent your mama’s day doing what you like best with those you love best. Take care and I look forward to hearing about your next adventure.
Oh my god, this post is so really awesome. And the bath suit, gorgeous!
Thanks for sharing, Kelle!

a beautiful way to spend the day with your favorite people, so happy for you!
you got it going on girlfriend, and the suit…it’s to die for. no one could pull it off like you but i would sure give it a whirl. it screams lake of the ozarks, that’s my isle of capri that’s where we’ll be spending three weeks in july and i can’t hardly wait!
enjoy the day-
Oh, and btw I’m lurulu[at]gmx[dot]net

I know that every day is Mother’s Day to you, Kelle. This one seemed especially sweet and joyful. Thank you for your beautiful words that serve as a reminder for me to enjoy the small things.
LOVE the pictures of Lainey at sunset! Glad you had a wonderful Mother’s Day; you definitely deserve it! Fairy Gardens? The lady I work with has made lots of them and inspired me to make one for my daughter, Jasey!
This post was wonderful! And that bathing suit is amazing! I love the quote about the Crayola bombs- thank you for making me day happier!
How wonderful! Congratulations on your day… truly inspiring <3
Hi Kelle!
I’ve been reading your blog for awhile now, but this is my first comment. The bathing suit is an excellent motivator:) Just want to say that your writing always brings a smile to my face. Not to mention the pictures. I love your blog! Thank you for sharing your story with us. It gives me pause in my day and makes me re-think life.
Happy Mother’s Day! You & your girls are truly beautiful souls!
what an awesome Mother’s Day!
You have such a beautiful family!
The first time I saw you post Popina’s I almost fell off my chair. I live just a few hours from Portland and had just been in the store earlier that day! Such a small world!
Oh Kelle! You ALWAYS touch my heart with your photos and little stories! Love them alllll! Thanks for sharing your heart… P.S. I LOVE LOVE the vintage look of your gorgeous red and white swimsuit! I will be heading to Orlando Florida soon for a family vacation and oh would that suit be lovely!
Looks like a beautiful mother’s day. Count me in on that suit…if I can’t look skinny, at least I could look cute!
I just love the way you look at life. Thanks for making my days brighter with your posts. Ajda from Slovenia

So glad for you! Your really, really looked happy. I love how you just make things happen. You decide this is what you’re going to do and it gets done. Amazing. Everyone and everything looked beautiful on your special day on your very own little slice of heaven. The most awesome thing is you will remember it all and savor it, for you Kelle really do enjoy the small things.
what a beautiful place to have! there is something peaceful in loving the scenery right in your backyard. Since I have lived in Arizona I have come to LOVE the mountains and feel the same euphoria that you feel about the isle of capri.
Beautiful!!! You look incredible Kelle, and your girls are such a gift. Happy Mothers Day indeed!
Glad you had such a fabulous Mother’s Day…you deserve it!!! Looks like a magical place…kinda wanting to pack up my littles and move there!
Lindsay
PS – LOVING the new songs on your playlist!
I’m in seriously infatious love with your bathing suit.
Such a gorgeous family you have! Isle of Capri reminds me of my summers spend in Carlsbad with my family 🙂 Thanks for sharing your own newly made memories!
Your posts make me want to move from the cold midwest states to Florida! The pictures are breath taking and your vision is inspiring! Beautiful family…
I am going to google this isle of capri you talk of and when we visit FL in October–we must visit this isle. Sounds fabulous! Nella, she is what keeps me coming back–she is the yummiest baby ever! 🙂

Isle of carp sounds so heavenly! especially in chilly Ohio! You are inspiring! and your girls are absolutely beautiful and of course I love the suit!
As always, your blog is beautiful and inspiring. It’s making me rethink my “no vacation this year to save money” idea…and one of those fabulous swimsuits would be the perfect incentive to get to the beach!
It looks amazing there, and what a wonderful way to spend Mother’s Day. I could crawl inside this post and bathe in the warmth your words exude.
Oh thank you again for such an uplifting post. My Mother’s Day was not what I had anticipated for weeks…my middle babe woke me up in the wee hours of the morning with that horrible vomitting sound into the potty…I had to cancel my brunch with my mom and Grandma. But, you know what? I am a mom. And I am so blessed to have my babies and to be able to “celebrate” Mother’s day because of them. Thank you for bringing a smile to my face today! As I’ve said before…you ROCK, girl!
Beautiful. Simply beautiful. I love your post. Your pictures. Your family. You’re an amazing mother to your beautiful baby girls & you deserved the best of the best Mothers Day! <3

Thanks for making my Monday – love when there is a new post to inspire me to soak up the delicious life we are all blessed with! Had a similar beautiful “day full of lovin’ the kiddos” plan for Mother’s Day but spent it in the ER with my little girl – pneumonia 🙁 Never feel more like a mom then when the babies are sick – how appropriate for Mother’s Day. So happy to live out Mother’s Day vicariously through you this year. Next year? Maybe we will take off to the Isles of Capri to make up for this year!! Please keep up the beautiful work with this amazing blog 🙂
I must confess, every time I read your blog I tell myself to take it slowly – read little bits at a time and savour it like a good wine. Instead, I guzzle everything down like a fresh cold beer; I can’t get enough! The beautiful narrative, the colours, the pictures, everything, it’s all so simple yet so beautiful.
Kelle! You are an amazing mother. Your posts are overflowing with love and fun and it makes me so excited for the day that I will have my own littles, whether they belong to others or are my own.

Looks like a perfect day! Enjoyed the beautiful pictures. I too, think your suit is rockin! I just had a baby 7 weeks ago and would LOVE one of those for this summer.
I just love reading your blog! I wish I could write like you 🙂 I love reading about your family and then seeing those amazing pictures of them. Lainey and Nella are the two cutest little girls! It looks like you had the best mothers day anyone could ask for! Happy (late) Mother’s Day! 😉
Love that swimsuit and have been wondering where you got it since I first saw you wearing it! So cute!
“…because I am shamelessly in love with the sweet little words of readers like you.”
Actually it’s more like _I_ am totally in love with those little words of yours, Kelle. Sweet sweet family day!

All I can say Kelle is that you ROCK!! You inspire me, make me laugh, and make me smile!! I am so, so, so glad I found your and your life story! Your writing abilities are like none I’ve ever seen. I know where you get them though, your dad! His 2 posts were simply amazing! 🙂 Rock it out girl!!!!
A few weeks ago a friend shared your blog with me. I have come back every day since. As a mother to two beautiful daughters, Grace who is almost 2 years old and Lily who is just 6 weeks, both of them born with health problems, I want you know that you have put into words what I cannot. Thank you for sharing your gift.
I talk about your blog all the time to my husband, mom, girlfriends, usually with tears in my eyes. I am so inspired by you, and really, so on the same wavelength most of the time. Thank you for sharing the gorgeousness and the rawness of life with us!
You are someone I admire so much and I only know you through this blog. Your posts are so real and honest and upbeat and positive. I wish there were more people in the world who had your incredible attitude! I’m so glad to hear you had a great mothers day!
I’m off to look for island jobs after reading this post! (for my husband)
Love the bathing suit!
Your blog always makes me smile – and inspires me to create lots of happy memories with my 2 small girls. Isn’t beach season the best? We go as often as we can – it is such a treat to have the ocean only 30 minutes away!
This post makes me want to take my little one and run to the beach!
You are an amazing photographer, Happy Mothers Day!!! Your pictures make me feel like I’ve already been to the Isle.
Beautiful. I love the way you always find the positives! Also, I love the quote at the end!
The moment I woke up on Sunday, I knew this was the day you were going to the Isle of Capri with your beautiful family in tow. I spent all day convincing myself to go to our Isle of Capri up north here on Park Point in Duluth Minnesota. 5o degrees, sunny but no swimsuits! There are just a few days out of the year Lake Superior opens for swimming and those days are epic! After crossing the Aerial lift bridge and driving along the 7 mile peninsula and passing by the lakeside nursing home my grandpa was no longer waiting for us to visit, we arrived. The parking spaces were filled, the cars were empty and the beach was finally open for the season. I unpacked my 2 small children and we took a quick hike into the woods to reach the sandy beach. Trying to put aside my irritation from earlier in the day all I could think about was this is our “Isle of Capri” and I am going to just make the most of it and smile, because that is exactly what Kelle does. Thanks for shaping the moments in my life for the better by sharing your beautiful golden soul with the world. Cheers to your Mother’s Day! Light, Peace and Love! Lauren
I really enjoy reading your blog and seeing all of the beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing your life!
You are so beautiful. You’re naturally beautiful – but your happiness and optimism just take you to a whole new world of beauty. I love it! Thanks for sharing all of your lovely thoughts with us!
I want my own crayola bomb! Mother’s Day is wonderful! If I ever make it to Naples I’m looking you up for family pictures!
It seems like your Mother’s Day was beautiful! I love reading your blog and can’t wait until my 1st daughter arrives in September…you make motherhood seem like so much fun!
kimberly_garcia82@yahoo.com
Everyone needs their own isle of Capri.., oh and one of those bathing suites:)!!
love the pictures of your mother’s day, and the fabulous bathing suit! 🙂 What you wrote yesterday made me cry. So well put. Your blog is inspiring.
What an amazing day… I would say that I was jealous, but I got to spend my day with my 2 gorgeous children… and take a nap!
What a magical Mother’s Day! I felt like I was right there with you as I looked at all the beautiful pics.
I love that Crayola bomb quote. Beautiful pictures!!!
Thank you for another beautiful post! Your words always bring a smile to my face. As I read through and seen these gorgeous pictures, I kept thinking, “Where did she get that gorgeous suit!!?” Thank you for sharing!!!!
Such a magical post about your magical day. Your cereleun blue skies. LOVE that.
I love that suit! Pick me! 🙂
Beautiful pictures… as always. Your blog is so inspiring. I hope to one day read a book written by you!
Looks like it was a beautiful Mothers Day, Kelle!
oh, i feel like i’ve been to the beach after reading your post…all the way from kentucky!!!
Looks like you had an amazing day! Happy be-lated Mother’s Day! Love the suit too, crossing my fingers…and toes!
These photos make me want to throw away my yearning for the California sand and come aboard with you to those beaches.
I think I could trade my Colorado mountains for those beaches… well, maybe…
Wonderful!
What a beautiful post! Happy Mother’s Day
Happy Mother’s Day Kelle!
If you weren’t one of my favourite people in the world (even though we’ve never met…and you have no idea who i am…)I would totally hate you for looking so fabulous in your bathing suit!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful life with us. and i am loving Nella’s painted piggies :0)
I have been reading your blog for quite a while now, and it has inspired me in so many ways – to enjoy each precious moment with my baby girl, to learn photography and capture every moment as it happens, to figure out my passion in life, to be creative – I could go on and on. Thank YOU for inspiring me! I thought it was about time to leave a comment…especially since you’re having a giveaway for that AWESOME suit! 😉
I <3 your blog. It gives me so much inspiration and if I lived in Florida I would hire you as my photographer. I often joke to my husband about making a special trip down there just so you can take pictures of my little one. Oh and your bathing suit is a beauty. 😉
I absolutely love your blog. I am jealous of your beach outings!!
love.love.love. your blog. my husband laughs at me, and sometimes gets annoyed…like i should be doing something OTHER than get inspired by you 🙂 i’m pretty unlucky, so i am sure i won’t win the suit, but i would sure like to try. cheers to you and yours. melissa.
I always read your blog during my little ones’ afternoon nap. By the time i finish reading i can’t wait for them to wake up. Your words and your love for your kiddos inspire me to enjoy my boys even more. thanks for blogging!
Misty from Birmingham, AL
I’d love to take my 5 Indiana born and bred children to the Isle of Capri. How fabulous that looks!
Love, love, love your blog! You paint so vividly with your words that your readers can see, taste & feel whatever you describe. I could almost smell the sea breeze in your words. Thanks for sharing with those of us who live too far from the ocean for a day trip. I can visit the beach vicariously. 🙂
The swim suit is gorgeous & your girls as beautiful as always!
Happy mother’s day Kelle!
I love Nella’s painted piggies…how cute is she???
I think I left my name off my first post. Here I go:
I’d love to take my 5 Indiana born and bred children to the Island of Capri!
Looks like you had one awesome day!!! I love the beach and can’t wait until my hubby, boys and I go back. You look awesome in the suit. Love it!!! As always your girls look so precious.
Happy mother’s day!
Looks like a fantastic Mother’s Day! Love all the pictures. Love the bathing suit. 🙂
Another great Capri post. They are the most colorful of posts! When did you start going there and how did you discover it?
Also, I just want to say that I love the new additions to the blog. Do you also do your “header” through photobucket?
Looks like the perfect mothers day. The sun, the suites, the water, the smiles, the sand. It all looks simply wonderful!
I walked around the house singing “Nella Cordelia” all day yesterday after watching your precious video…and I think I may have heard my husband as well:). I sang it to my little guy and tried really hard to make him his own tune with his name.
Your blog, words, and photos are all incredible and inspiring.
Sounds and looks like a lovely, fun day!
Beautiful family, beautiful pictures, and beautiful place! I love it! You’re fabulous, Kelle! So glad you had a wonderful Mother’s Day…you deserve it!
Your day looked magical…I had a beautiful mother’s day also. I just love how you put so much of the emotions that I feel into words. Your blog makes me happy.
I can’t wait until we find our magical place…I know it’s out there somewhere:)
Your pictures are beautiful. Your words are beautiful. I always look forward to each beautiful post. They brighten my day!
love your whole post, beautiful day, beautiful girls, and BEAUTIFUL swim suit!!!
love every word and photo.
Glad you had a fantastic Mama’s Day at the Isle!
I always leave your posts for last.. to read and relish all the beauty and loveliness the longest..
I read with some bitter-sweetness. I don’t know that I will have the joy of motherhood.. but I take inspiration to try my hardest to treat everyone (even adults!) as precious, and unique, gifts..
Thanks for all the sharing you do!
I just discovered your blog recently, it’s lovely. There IS so much beauty in the world, and you capture it in the way I would if I were good at photography (I’m trying!). We recently adopted a baby girl, and suddenly the world has colour again.
I can personally attest to your hubby’s claim of gravitational pull being more forceful near the ocean…it’s true. Doesn’t matter where you go in the world.
Hello, love your blog! Check out the link to our photographer who took pics of my lil lady for the Littles Hero’s Project. http://stevestantonphotography.com/blog/
Love the suit!
What a fabulous day! I have salt water running through my veins. It’s my vacation of choice every single year. A weekend. A day. It doesnt’ matter as long as I can sit in the sand and feel the water on my toes. Love your pictures and how they capture the magic of a sunset on the beach.
You are so very lucky…beautiful girls; beautiful husband; beautiful stepsons; beautiful family.
Your happiness radiates from your pictures.
Gorgeous, gorgeous, gorgeous 🙂
You & your family make me smile every day! With lots of love from our faraway little paradise; Gisborne, New Zealand.
The pictures are fantastic once again, I want to bake cookies in that suit!!
My heart swells everytime I read one of your blog posts; they make me feel alive, happy, and excited. You and your family are so wonderful.
Thank you.
o wow. #498. Kinda doubt I’ll win (: but I wanted to say that I wish I could visit the Isle. You capture it so beautifully!
Thank you for sharing your beautiful Mother’s Day with us! I wish I could have been there too.
You’re right about so many things you write about…. and with 4 boys of my own, I have had so many “rooms” of the unexpected! with my oldest being in Afghanistan, another with a cleft lip and palate and my youngest who makes us laugh daily and will start school next year. It brings me sadness as I know he is my last……
Thank you. Happy Mother’s Day to you.
OH! And after 4 boys and a surrogate baby (to help someone else become a mother…..) I could SO use a new swimsuit! Here’s to wishing…..
It’s a beautiful bathing suit!! I love it!
Your day looks like it was truly magical! Your children are absolutely beautiful and I love your new swimsuit!
Looks like you had so much fun, especially Lainey. And Nella looks so sweet sleeping I love her Bonnet.
I have thoroughly enjoyed following your story of living a beautiful life… it’s inspiring and I feel blessed to have discovered this blog!!
me me please…. this could seriously brighten my day!!! (I am also not responsible for any gramitical errors)
Not sure why it caught my eye but I LOVE the picture of Lainey’s little feet on the wooden step. I don’t live anywhere near the ocean, but so often wish I did. Can I please come visit your Isle?
I’ve been reading your blog for a couple months now, but haven’t ever left a comment before. I just wanted to say how inspiring your words and images are. I don’t have a family yet, but I hope that when I do I can love and appreciate mine as much as you do yours.
Thank you for sharing your wonderful world with us!
A rare accomplishment, Kelle.
You inspire me to Love and Be and Thrive without feeling overwhelmed or disappointed that my life isn’t just like yours (or anyone else’s).
I feel more driven to feel and explore and capture the magic of my Dirty Half Dozen kiddos each day that I’m blessed to be their Mama.
So thank you. And Happy Mother’s Day to you from another.
Please tell me that you don’t look that good in a swimsuit after having a baby just a few months ago. Lie to me. Make your next post, an ode to photoshop, and tell your adoring readers that you are not only a photography goddess, but a shameless toucher-upper of your form in photos. Because I’m going to have to boycott the blog if that’s really what you look like in a swimsuit, so soon after giving birth.
An inspiring post! Exactly what a mama’s day should be!
Your blog has inspired me to finally get my camera out again and adventure like I did in college (which was only like two years ago!) but still… I got so lost in this whole 9 to 5 gig that I forgot about passion 🙂 So I’m writing again, taking pictures again, living again – and loving every minute of it. Thanks for sharing your life with us.
Happy Mother’s Day! You inspire!
Although there’s still snow in our backyard, I’m certain the summer will arrive to North of Finland in few months. And when it does, I’d be more than happy to welcome it wearing that gorgeous swimsuit. 😀 Thank you for your beautiful blog!
Happy Mommy’s Day! Oh how I dream of Isles of Capri. This weekend while you were basking away in fun and sun, I was celebrating my second Mommy’s Day in the snow! What fun it was, but we are really ready for sun, sun hats and sunscreen. Thanks for sharing your family with us. Beautiful memories!
Amongst all the other beautifulnessI was just thinking how much I loved how you were wearing that one piece suit and groovin” around in it. I’ve never felt comfortable in a two piece and “un-cool” in a one pieces :). I’m off now to find a cute one-piece for this summer.. I loved yours.. Erin
What a wonderful way to spend Mother’s Day…looks like a magical place!!

Oh is it summer yet? I want to be able to take the babes to the beach and enjoy the sun all day.
That looks like a heavenly place to enjoy your Mother’s Day! Your blog is a joy to read…You have such a wonderful spirit!
I would love to win that darling bathing suit…Don’t think I would look as good as you in it-but why not try?! Thanks.
Love your blog. Love your story. Love how you give us little sneak-peaks of your soul. Thank you for sharing your beautiful family with the world.
I love your blog! It inspires me every single day! You have an amazing family and I love that you share it with so many!
It’s funny how different life is in the north and the south, When you wrote about bending over a big belly to collect shells I thought…wait, Nella was born in January. Her belly couldn’t have been all that big in the summer. Then I remembered that it is always summer down there.
Kelle, I read this today and thought of you.
My Mother: by Tom Dillon in 1916 in honor of Mother’s Day.
For the body you gave me, the bone and the sinew, the heart and the brain that are yours, my mother, I thank you. I thank you for the light in my eyes, the blood in my veins, for my speech, for my life, for my being. All that I am is from you, who bore me.
For all the love that you gave me, unmeasured from the beginning, my mother, I thank you. I thank you for the hand that led me, the voice that directed me, the breast that nestled me, the arm that shielded me, the lap that rested me. All that I am is by you, who nursed me.
For your smile in the morning and your kiss at night, my mother, I thank you. I thank you for the tears you shed over me, the songs that you sung to me, the prayers you said for me, for your vigils and ministering. All that I am is by you, who reared me.
For the faith you had in me, the hope you had for me, for your trust and your pride, my mother, I thank you. I thank you for your praise and your chiding, for the justice you bred into me, and the honor you made mine. All that I am, you taught me.
And may the peace and joy that passeth all understanding be yours, my mother, forever and ever. Amen.
Love it. Looks like a great time!
the colors are amazing. it truly does look magical there!
Your life is beautiful, and I love reading your posts because you’re so talented on all mediums.
red & white polka dots….I’m in!! It’s beauuuuutiful.
There is a little island off the coast of Perth, Australia called “Rottnest Island.” It, too, is beautiful, and looking at your photos makes me dream of the fun times I’ve had there.
Your family is beautiful, and I’m glad you have a magical land to visit where you can revisit the “child within.”
Happy Mother’s Day, Kelle!
Kelle,
Your blog is my new happy place! Thank you for all of the beautiful sentiments, reflections and pictures. Your daughters are so lovely and Nella Bean is just the prettiest “little” ever! Your most excellent attitude is something I hope to emulate 🙂 God Bless You!

Sounds like you had a magical Mother’s Day Kelle!!!
Happy Mother’s Day Kelle!
What a great post, it’s so inspiring to see you and your family so so happy and enjoying life! Glad you all had such a great day.
Why can’t we all have an Isle of Capri? It looks amazing and so much fun. Happy Mother’s Day to you!
I live in Calgary, AB, Canada and our spring is SLOW in coming this year. I am longing for some sunshine and surf on your Isle of Capri – all those pictures are making the longing stronger.
Hoping my comment will get picked, would LOVE the retro suit. 🙂
I have decided this summer that I am going to venture to the beach more with my little ones. I cant wait!
I love the little outfit lainey is wearing with the headband..gorgeous.
What a fun and beautiful post! As I read it, I traveled (only in my mind though :D) to Isles of Capri and had loads of fun. Priceless memories of summers spent in sand and water…

Your words helped me to smell that coconutty sweetness. Delicious! Beautiful post, as always.
Wonderful Mother’s Day 🙂 I LOVE your blog! Now if I win the bathing suit, do you promise I’ll look as fabulous as you do in it???
Kelle, baby Nella is just so precious, her sweet sweet looks are just too much to handle. I don’t even know you all but I’ve so fallen in love with your family!! My littles are 4 and 8 mo, and I see many many parallels with your family and daily life with them. Like you, I LOVE every minute of it!!
I’ve had my eye on that suit for the last few weeks!
Your posts and pictures always make me smile, thanks for sharing your girls with us!
I wish I was at the beach right now, oh how I would love to live by the ocean.
Such lovely colors in the photos!
And I just love your bathing suit! 🙂
I love, love all of your pictures. I wish I could capture the special moments like these that I have with my family as well as you do! And I have to say, I also love the bathing suit and would love one.
now i want to go to the Isles of Capri. love love LOVE your blog!
You continue to amaze us all!
I have been reading your blog for a few months. Not sure how I came across it… SO glad I did!I live in Oregon about the farthest place from you. You are an inspiration to me. You have made me look at the world in different ways and have taught me to “rock out” the doldrums. Thanks for sharing your life.
I wish we had somewhere, ANYWHERE like the isle of Capri in Arizona. For now I have to make due with six hour drives to California beaches. And this swimsuit? Needs to show up on a California beach. Preferably the one in San Diego where we are going with my husband’s family. Where I will also happen to be pregnant-no-more and in need of something lovely to wear while I dig my toes in the sand.
I was first sent your blog by a friend (multiple friends, actually) when you came out with Nella’s story. That story caught my attention, for sure. But now, I must say, reading your blog is bright spot in my daily routine!
Keep it comin!
🙂
Beautiful pictures! Oh, I need that swimsuit, cause 3 babies make one midsection unexposable 🙂
Looks absolutely heavenly – makes me wish I had an Isle of Capri near me.
I’m so glad you had a wonderful Mother’s Day!
And methinks that I would look great in one of Pamela’s creations for our family’s beach trip in September….crossing my fingers and toes! 🙂
Beautiful place, beautiful girls, beautiful post, beautiful pictures!
You really inspire me to enjoy the small things, thank you!
Kelle, You are someone to be admired…the time and way you take to document your life is amazing! I appreciate that time with your children is always first and not second to the daily grind. It is gentle reminder for my own life.
Can’t really believe I am commenting along with hundreds of other readers who appreciate your zest for life and that you will read them all, but we truly thank you for sharing your world with us.
Love the bathing suit, and that Crayola quote at the end was just perfect!!
BTW, I’m posting this under my husband’s e-mail. I’d hate for somebody to think that some weird guy named Jacob was pining after one of those cute bathing suits!
Best most happiest blog out there!
Love it!
Jen
Happy Mother’s Day! You sold the swim suit! It looks lovely on you! 🙂
What a fun day! Once again, you have transported me to your wonderful little world. Hopefully I’ll make my next appearance at the beach in that fabulous suit!!!
Your little sanctuary is beautiful. I love how you speak of the Isle. I wish I had a place so lovely outside of my own house. And yes, I am in LOVE with your bathing suit!
I love your blog, and look forward to reading it every day. You inspire me to live my best life and appreciate every beautiful moment in this world. Thank you!
What fun!!! And you look GREAT in the swim suit. 🙂
just gorgeous! your mothers day looks fantastic – you deserve it 🙂
Beautiful beautiful day!
I stumbled upon your blog around the time your precious Nella was born. Since then, your sweet words and pictures have become such an inspiration to my life. As a young woman who is trying to find her own unique place in this world, you remind me with each post how beautiful the small things in life are. Thank you for reminding me to find the good in every day, and thank you for sharing your beautiful outlook on life!
Lanie and Nella are very cute I have a little baby brother with Downs Syndrome. We think he is just the cuteset little thing in the world. Do you fell that way about Lanie and Nella?

your suit is adorable and that looks like the perfect place to wear it.
Your love for all that is magical rocks! We have fun place like that… our is a little place off of Alabama coast line..a very old house that was bought a long time ago.. it is where furniture from our families homes end up..good enough for Dauphin Island. DI is mostly residential so the beach is usually ours for the taking. And our little wiener dogs run free (leash free) to collect sand crabs and just run (we live in ATL – downtown where life is busy). We are so afraid our tropical paridise is going to be ruined by the oil spill… we will know more in 3 weeks when we make our trek to our old house among the fishermen..
What a beautiful post! I too had an amazing mother’s day. But instead of an isle I opted for jammies and snuggling all day with my little beauty. Wouldn’t change a thing about it!
love the suit and really wish i could visit the Isle of capri!
Just reading this gave me my own little personal touch of happiness. I would love to visit a place as beautiful and warm and happy as that place is. I think everyone should have a place, no matter where, that evokes that feeling in them; of undulated happiness.
I’m so glad you have a great time. You honestly deserved it. Not just you, but your family and friends. Obviously you’ve had your share of tragic events, and you’ve overcome them with a warmer smile on your face each time. It’s great that you got a whole day on Isle of Capri, you got to taste, touch and experience that happiness from the moment sun touched your rosy cheeks, till the minute shady cooled them. Your daughters (and i say it every time!) look gorgeous. Not beautiful, not cute, but gorgeous. Lainey looks so grown up in her glasses and outfits, no matter how hard (but still welcome) that statement is to hear. And Nella, she is so big now. There can’t be any doubt in anyones mind that she wasn’t put on this earth for a reason. She brightens up pictures that are already fully lit. That’s was a perfect finish of the day by putting up her dollar. (:
I really put a lot of thought into what I did for my mother for mother’s day because reading this blog, and hearing other mom’s stories, and seeing what my own mother has gone through in these years leading up to this one…i just have to say you all deserve ALL days as Mother’s Day. Not just one. But I celebrated the heck out of the one they give you. I gave my mom the extra love she needs but doesn’t always hear and I just let her know how thankful I am.
It was great seeing that happiness on her face, and on yours as I read this blog.
Your post makes me jealous and it makes me miss my home on the beach of Gulf Shores… I am so glad you had a wonderful Mother’s Day! This year was my first and it was splendid!
The combination of your photos and writing = something pretty darn amazing. Love your blog, Kelle!
What a wonderful, magical place your Isle is.
Your photos & writing inspire me every single day. There’s beauty in life and you’re teaching me about it with every new posting.
I just recently found your blog and I fell in love! Your stories are fun and inspirational and your photos are breathtaking. Love it!
Nella’s little polished toenails~oh my god~so cute! Happy Mother’s Day <3
I live vicariously through you! Your ability to tell a story, recreate a day and capture each special moment is incredible! Your kids are sooo sweet and I LOVE that suit, you my dear look nothing short of AMAZING, are you SURE you just had a baby 4 months ago * sigh*…. LOVE your blog! Its my daily addiction!
Thanks for showing me the sun. It’s raining here. 2.5 inches and still coming down. It’s nice to know that at least the sun is still out there somewhere.
csuejacobs@hotmail.com
Oh Kelle, I love your spirit 🙂 That last picture is so YOU! And how peaceful nella looks slumbering in her Moses basket! I just love everything about this post 🙂
You rock! And so does your suit! I want one!!!!
Is it sad that I only post when there is a give away? I love you and am inspired by you every. single. day. Thank you for sharing your story with us and for making my families life happier through your words.
Your post always make me smile. I love all the fun pictures 🙂
another great post! i love that you call nella’s toes piggies…I thought that only my boyfriend called them that…it made me smile instantly:)
I love how you spent Mother’s Day. I would have given anything to spend the day at the beach. So beautiful!
Lovely post. Lovely kids. Lovely bathing suit.
I would like my own Isle of Capri…where can I buy one, please?
Loved Nella’s toes! So cute!
What a fun day celebrating the beauty of being a momma! 🙂
I love the bathing suit and would love to have one of my own. I love your blog, too. Keep doin’ what you do. 🙂
I want an Isle of Capri! Can you give one of those away?!!
I’m so jealous of that beauty! What a fabulous Mother’s Day!
As always, beautiful. Happy Mother’s Day 🙂
Oh, how I wish I could experience this place you call heaven….it looks absolutely glorious!
Your time at the Isle of Capri reminds me of something out of the movies….something a Canadian girl can only dream about…but maybe one day I too will experience this wonderful place. Happy Mother’s day! Hope you reaped the benefits of being a terrific mother, Kelle!
an amazing post of the lovely ladies AND a bathing suit give away? how very Isles of Capri of you!! lol
I just LOOOOOVE this post!! I’m so ready for summer! This Isle of Capri looks like such a magical place that seems sooo amazing, I am searching for our own “Isle of Capri” and I am going to find it this summer, our magical place of summer happiness! I absolutely love your suit!!! It is ADORABLE!! So retro, and perfect! I can’t believe how fast Nella is growing, and how fun (as always) Lainey is in all of your pictures…you have two very beautiful, perfect, little sweet peas! I’m so glad you had such a fantastic Mother’s Day! You deserved it! You are inspiring and amazing! Thank you Kelle!
What a beautiful Mother’s Day you had!
I *love* *love* *love* your new bathing suit.
It sounds like such a fun life to live down there! And you, Kelle, are rockin’ that swimsuit a mere few months after giving birth!
Looks like a magic day on your beautiful island!! Love the pics of Lainey in the headband & cheeky expressions!!! Looking so grown up. Dreaming of my own magic swimsuit…
Cheers,
Kate
LOVE this post like most others. I may have drooled a little when you first posted about Pamela’s totally fantastic retro swimsuit! Not only is red my favorite color but I’m a polka dot nut too! Cheers to fun in the sun!
Beautiful Kelle!
You have gorgeous girls… just absolutely precious.
I’m so glad you had a great mothers day. This was my first one this year… my husband and son {my guys} made it amazing.
Mothers beach (a small area for children) doesn’t have much on your isle… but I do look forward to building memories to last a lifetime there with my guys!
Though I’m not sure red dirt and mountains can rival an isle getaway, I’m sure I could put that swimsuit to good use. Even if it is just in backyard sprinklers. Thanks!
I love your blog and get on everyday after work to see your beautiful pictures and read your wonderful stories. Your writing is AMAZING! And that swimsuit is amazing too! I love the retro look. Your mother’s day looked wonderful and warm!
Those are gorgeous pictures & beautiful little girls! 🙂
i was just about to e-mail and ask where you got your suit! i love it!
(Don’t think my first comment went through.)
What I was saying…
Though I’m certain our red dirt and desert mountains can’t rival your isle adventures, I’m sure I could put that swimsuit to good use. Even if it is just in backyard sprinklers. Thanks!

Happy to hear you had a fabulous Mother’s Day. My 7 year-old daughter and I love your Nella Song. She thinks you are “pretty good” singer and loves to watch Nella smile. You Rock Kelle!
We don’t live near Isle of Capri, but we have St. George Island. We’ll be there tomorrow celebrating a belated Mother’s Day. I hope our day is one percent of how fun yours looked. Your photos and words are beautiful as always! Thank you for sharing!
Your family is amazingly beautiful. I’m so completely jealous of the family and friends you seem to have surrounding you at all times!
beautiful day! me and my little will forgive any “fewchure” grammatical errors if you forgive all the times in the “fewchure” that we will come here for a read and then i turn the speakers on the computer and we spin around the office:) love the music selections as much as i love your blog!
I’m so glad you had such an amazing Mother’s Day!! I love the swimsuit, soooo cute! Thanks for the awesome giveaway!
i’d love one of those bathing suits. they’re so ‘me’. glad you had a nice mom’s day. really like the pic of you and nella in the sun!
You speak so highly of Isle of Capri that I goggled it. We are trying to figure out where to go for memorial day weekend…. hmmm. I’d love a new swim suite to go in!! Love you blog and your beautiful pictures. I’d love to see another q&a about photography. You have such talent!
Gorgeous! Happy Mother’s Day. 🙂
LOVE the suit! I am looking for one myself and having an extra 12 pounds lingering from my last little is making finding a bathing suit quite a task.
Such a beautiful place to spend Mothers Day with your littles!
wow..I do really like that suit 🙂 And to have one myself? Well, that would be just fabulous!! It looks like a suit you can LIVE in…and look GORGEOUS in at the same time. My kinda suit!!!
Just sipped my first coffee of the day while reading the only blog that I read, apart from my own, because it makes my heart happy. I have never commented before, but I couldn’t resist. I wonder, I just wonder if this mother of 7 babies could look anywhere near as gorgeous as you in that lovely swimsuit..probably not, but it’s a wonderful thought. I have my very own Nella – and she’s lit up my life for 19 years….I’m so happy to see your little light glow so bright. And as I watch my girls (all 5 of them) from almost adulthood down to age one, play and love – I know I have a kindred spirit in you. Cheers sweet girl for another happier day after reading your warming words. 🙂
So glad you had a fabulous Mother’s Day! The pictures are amazing. I love the swimsuit…and I love Lainey’s – I bought the same one for my sweet girl. Gotta love Target.
Your posts make me wish we lived near the beach. We do live near a lake though, and after baby number 3 gets here in July, I would love to rock such a great swimsuit!
You have such a beautiful family and I always feel a bit lighter when I read your posts.
I love your photography! As I took my camera to the beach today I over came my fear of getting it near the sand b/c your pictures have inspired me to get closer to the action with my camera!
how I long to live near a place I could escape to like that! I so enjoy reading your posts – your writing style really carries me away…
annnnnndddddd— I LOVE LOVE LOVE that suit!
Love the picture of little Nella’s toes with the nail polish. Just such a little lady.

Your blog makes me long for two things…. an amazing camera that will capture not only moments but the live we are living and THE BEACH!!!!! Being from Florida I know all about how special and magical the beach can make everything. And you make me miss it very very much.

What a gorgeous way to spend Mother’s Day. I am incredibly jealous. 😉
Well, your Mother’s Day was certainly enviable! I’ve decided to have a MUCH more relaxing day next year….this year’s was harried and pure craziness. But once again, love the bathing suit and especially Lainey’s facial expressions!

I am totally ordering the suit anyway…is it the one piece? If I won it would be super sweet!
What a happy post!! Love the joy in your pictures. 🙂
This makes me want to move to Florida. Beautiful photos of a happy day.
Love, love, love your blog!! You have inspired me SO much Kelle. I just got a new camera for Mother’s Day/Birthday (this coming Fri). I used to only take photo’s on ‘special occasions’ but you have reminded me EVERY day is a special occasion. Looking through a lens helps me find it when I can’t see it alone. 🙂 Thank you so much for allowing us to join you on your journey.
As much as I love to indulge in the beautiful pictures and memories you share with the world, I have to admit I often meander through your comments to read the literary treats left by “Poppa” as well. On days when I crave a little inspiration, the combination is a very satisfying two-for-one!
I love reading this blog each and every day and I love that it is simple…about family and life. And that Down Syndrome does not change that – because you’d be doing all of these things whether Nella had it or not. I live my life the same way.
I came across your blog, recently…to be honest I’m not sure how..but glad that I did!I have fell in love with the way you share your life, and capture it through words and photos. You inspire me–with both!
I’m glad you had such a blessed Mother’s Day!
Cheers,
Sarah in Canada
You look AMAZING!! I am so glad you had such a wonderful Mother’s Day!!
Whoops – that last one was me 🙂
It’s still chilly in Chicago, so your sunny warm pictures have made my day. I would love a sassy pin-up bathing suit for my future days at Lake Michigan!
Dearest, Wondrous Kelle-
Thank you for yet another magically woven celebration of life. You are a true gem and I feel so honored and tickled to have discovered your website through Nella’s story.
Not to mention that bathing suit. Retro fabulous, indeed. I am in serious lust with it.
Hugs and many happy wishes,
Brooke
You are so totally infectious. I have been feeling angry and sad for a few days, but your posts make me feel so much better.
So many great photos, so much fun!! I think I want to move to the Isle of Capri. 🙂

Words can’t even begin to describe how much I love reading your blog. Each entry is incredibly heartfelt, honest, and touches me to the depths of my soul. I started blogging recently and I am so impressed by your entries. Frequently I found myself writing about the sad and gut-wrenching events of our life because those were the ones I could easily put into words. However reading your blog has inspired me to write about the happy events of our life and to focus on the wonders of motherhood. Reading your blog has been a wonderful gift and I thank you for that. (PS. That bathing suit is beautiful! It looks like it would cover and flaunt a mother’s body well 🙂 )

glad you had such a nice mother’s day!
Love those big brown eyes of Lainey’s! So sweet!
I haven’t left a comment before but have been reading your blog religiously for the past few months ever since I found out about it. I, myself, just found out last week I am pregnant, only 7 weeks now but still enough to anticipate all the excitement I’ll soon be experiencing. One of my fears is wearing a swimsuit this summer. I had checked out the swimsuit website the last time you posted but I know there’s no way I could get my husband to agree to me spending $80 for a swimsuit…so I figured I’d be buying a $20 one from Target. So, what I’m trying to say is I’ll take this opportunity, at your suggestion, to maybe score an adorable retro, pregnancy-friendly swimsuits 🙂 Thanks for the joy you spread Kelle.
Your beautiful family and outlook on life never fails to bring a smile to my face. I can’t wait to bring my son to the beach this year…and maybe next year both sons. 🙂
PS- You look AMAZING. I only hope the suit can do me such justice. lol
I loved this post, the pictures are breathtaking and your words are simply sparkling with happiness….what a beautiful day. Thanks so much for sharing your little slice of happiness….
What a beautiful Mothers Day! You truly deserved it.
Beautiful pictures of a beautiful family! Happy Mother’s Day!
xoxo to U!
Hi love reading your blog, love all the pictures, been using my nikon D40 much more now!
I want a happy place like your Isles.
All I can say is, “Thank you.” Your words and pictures have lifted a gray cloud that has been dogging me for much too long. Cheers to you, Mama!
How did you know I’d been admiring your swimsuit the whole time?! Love it =)
Thank you for bringing so much perspective and joy to us . . .you have a perfect family.
I follow about 100 blogs religiously and yours is by far my very favorite. You help me to see life as a beautiful adventure and to appreciate every little thing. I can’t wait to see Lainey’s birthday party and I love love love seeing Nella get bigger everyday! Thank you for sharing your story with the world!!! Give your girls a kiss for all of us that love them from afar!
You truly inspire me daily to be a better woman, mom and wife. You do amazing things with this blog, by simply telling your story. Your very lovely story. Thank you for that.
Love reading your posts, Kelle and I’m thrilled for the chance to win a new swimsuit. The end of this month I’m heading to Hawaii for two weeks with a friend and have been fretting over the swimsuit issue. I will be leaving my 7 children and sweet husband for the first time in about, oh, 20 years – yikes! Can I really go through with it!?! I’m excitement and nervousness all rolled into one. 🙂
You continue to inspire me. Love all these pics! Looks like you had the most perfect day ever. You’re a lucky gal (in a fabulous suit)! 🙂
I love your bathing suit, your blog, and your kids. I feel like you are a long distance cousin that I love to keep up with!
In my most 2nd grade voice I say: “I want to be your friend.” I do.

MMMM How I wished I lived in Florida! If probably has something to do with being stuck in side, studying for finals at UW-Madison. Thanks for providing me a wonderful and perfect distraction from studying!
thanks for reminding us all of the beauty in life Kelle.

Love the blog – but then again I love everyone of your blogs. Ah the warmth of the beginning of the warmer months is starting for you, but over here in Australia it’s getting quite chilly… I love the retro swimsuit. It’s adorable! & what suit my 1950’s car to a tee!
<3
Much love.
i wish i was you yesterday. yesterday my zest for life and anything remotely cool was just zapped out of me. I don’t mind cooking dinner for my family and extenders (bros and sis’s), i don’t even mind doing all the laundry cause my baby won’t stop throwing up, i don’t even mind vacuuming twice cause no one will eat off the carpet. what kills it – noone recognizes you’re in the room and it’s mother’s day and noone loves you. atleas it feels like it. so thanks for taking me to the isle for just a few moments of escape. totally worth it.
oh, oh, oh…..pick me!! i’m a new mommy and there is no way i’m getting my arse into a bikini. i’ve gotta cover up the stretch marks the little one gave me 🙁 i fell in love when you first posted it 😉
p.s. i adore your happy little family!
You remind me that you don’t have to go very far from home to escape to your own personal paradise. 🙂
My friend Sadie and I are special education teachers in Michigan and have recently discovered your blog. I now enjoy reading it every day. You have such amazing talent and your girls are so beautiful!
PS: I love all the clothes you and your girls wear! especially the swim suit on today’s blog!

Ooohh weee….mama needs a new bathin’ suit! 🙂 Great post, as always, it’s like a breath of fresh air!
I love how your writing makes me feel as if I am at the Isle of Capri. I live in the desert now, but I miss the Pacific Northwest and the endless water and beaches – even if they are COLD most of the year!
I seriously love your suit!
Love all the pictures too! Wish I could be there! 🙂
I love your blog, and how real you are. You are such a genuine person and I admire your authenticity. Thank you for sharing your life and your story. You inspire me to enjoy every moment.
I love your posts on Isle of Capri. They so much remind me of the happiness me and my family have at our cabin every summer. I grew up at that cabin, and have introduced my husband to the love of the cabin. We both now have a love for that cabin, and hope that someday when we have children of our own they too can love that cabin.

I just found your blog a few weeks ago and I love it! Nella is just adorable, as is Lainey! And what a great suit!
How beautiful!
One of these days I have to make a trip to the other side of our amazing state and visit your Isle of Capri!
Thank you for showing us the beauty in your world, and helping us to recognize the beauty in our own.
I just started reading your blog a few weeks ago and have enjoyed every one! Nella’s birth story is incredibly touching, I love the way you write. Your father’s post is so amazing, no question where you got your writing ability!! You lead a beautiful life and an even more beautiful example. I’m up in cold MN, and envious of your “summer”!! Thanks again for sharing your story.
Kelle,
Always enjoy reading your blog. You’ve inspired me to enjoy my little moments every day!
Love the bathing suit!
Amy
Hey Sunshine!
I am so glad you had such a wonderful day!! I have to say that your light has made such a difference in my day. I have always thought I was a positive person, clinging onto what is good rather than the other and living in the moment. That being said you are giving me a run for my money. The best thing about that is that I am trying to live in the moment and love, really love my sweet boys (age 6, twin boys) just a little more. I always thought I did, but you and I both know there is always a little more to give, and see…there is so much light!
I would love to qualify for the amazing bathing suit! It’s so fun!!! Although I live in the great white north we do have two months of amazing sunshine. Our pontoon boat call’s me like your island. It’s where I really bask in my family, the warmth of the sun and the peace of the lake. I love the hum of the boat, how we eat, play and splash all day, the head to a marina for dinner and sleepily go home. Our heads fall on the pillow and you sleep a sound sleep with the motion of the boat guiding your dreams! When I saw the picture of you jumping of the dock to the water it reminded me of jumping of the end of the boat into the water were the boys wait to play with their Mama!!
Have a wonderful night!!
Hugs from Canada-Jaime
Thank you soooo much for doing what you are doing. Writing about your wonderful, full life. I so look forward to your blogs, esp on days like today when I need a pick-me-up. You remind me that life is full of what you make it and how you choose to see it. Not how others choose to see it. I like my simple life with my family. They are all I need to make me happy. Simply my husband, son and daughter. Nothing else. Content to be with them and do nothing if we choose. I love them so much. Please keep writing and taking the pictures of life. Thank you.
those pics and words are awesome! we had such a great time yesterday…up till my lil guy noah got a fever. thank you for being you. i love you and your family and heidi and her family so much. to many many more isle of capri days.

What a lovely Mother’s Day! Unfortunately it was too cold for us to enjoy the beach here (on the Great Lakes)… but your post makes me want to enjoy the beach as much as possible this summer!

As we head into winter, way over here on the other side of the world, your pictures of the Isles of Capri lift me out of the almost-winter-blues. I feel incredibly privileged that you open your home and heart in this way.
Ya know, that bathing suit would suit a New Zealand summer perfectly 🙂

Hi Kelle,
I love your blog! I found you through the Parent Dish article and have been reading ever since. I have also been trying to take my photos in more of a “Kelle Hampton” style. I have noticed improvement, too bad my kids are 10 and 5.
Carol

Thanks for your commentary related to your stream of consciousness at Target the other day. I laughed out loud. Been there. Thanks Baby.
Good luck with finishing up the details for the fairy party. Lainey one day will know how blessed she is and how much fun it was to grow up because of you.
Peace,
Jennifer
How nice would a new swim suit be? 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day! I told my husband about your blog and how much I’ve been enjoying reading and seeing all your beautiful pictures. He COMPLETELY surprised me with a nice new camera for Mother’s Day. Isn’t it great to have good husbands? 🙂
What beautiful pictures! Whenever you post about trips to the Isles of Capri, I wish I could be there. I’m glad you got the chance to spend your mother’s day there. I started reading your blog back in February when a girl I work with sent it to me. We both work for an agency in western New York that supports people with special needs and their families. Your blog has taught me so much about the families that we support that I never would have learned or imagined, and I love having the chance to read your thoughts every few days. Thanks for all the posts and all the beautiful pictures. 🙂
Kelle,
I’ve been following your blog for a short while now & I must say that every time I stumble upon your words I either end up in tears slowly rolling down my cheeks or smiling one of those toe-tingling smiles. Your words are as perfect as your girls, & it almost makes me wish I was sitting on a chair next to you and loving up your sweet littles. Lainey & Nella are pure perfection, and it just melts my heart into a big, smooshy puddle to see the love they have for each other.
I know lots of people comment about this, but you truly are an inspiration for many people & you really do push me to find the beauty and wonder in the world when things don’t always seem great at first. So for that my dear friend, I thank you.
Continue doing what you’re doing. You do it beautifully.
xo,
Nikki
Kelle,
I can’t tell you how much I look forward to sitting down at night, when the littles are are tucked away in bed, and my husband is snoring on the couch beside me, and reading your blog. It brings me happiness, joy, inspiration, and hope. Everything you write is beautiful. You are amazing and inspiring…thank you for sharing your life with the world.
xoxo
I love your blog and check it daily….Your passion for life and your family is amazing and inspiring! We use to live in Florida, and seeing your pics makes me miss it.
I also noticed that you must sleep with your children…..I usually end up with one or two of mine in my bed every night 🙂 My youngest is 2 and usually finds her way to our bed by 1:00 and our 5 year old will still come in on some nights… Even though there are times I would like to stretch out in my bed, I remind myself they are only little for such a short time…..and my 14 and 12 year old are proof of that!
Thanks for your blog!
my first mothers day was lovely even though your weather looked MUCH better 🙂 I love this post it makes me feel so happy 🙂
The close up face shot of you and the Nella bean is BEAUTIFUL! Holy Sunkissed babes!!!!! Awesome 🙂 Glad to see you all having a fab time for Mother’s Day. Boy do you deserve it!!
xoxo,
Lori
Hahaha!! You are so funny:D with your ‘fewchure’. That’s awesome. I’ve been reading your blog for a while now and I LOVE it. I love your life…you paint such a brilliant picture with the life you’ve been given. You’ve inspired me, and I thank you more then you know. By the way, I would very muchly like to visit this Isle Of Capri..but I live in OklahomaD:. Lol. But our Youth group this summer is going to Florida so I am super excited:D I love Nella and Lainey..they are so adorable:) I think it would be really cool to meet you and them someday. I also admire your photography skill, which I’m sure you’ve heard a lot but I want to be able to take beautiful photos like you someday, and hopefully I will get the chance to once I get a decent camera. Anyway, that’s all for now. Thank you so much for everything…your words, your wisdom, but most importantly your love.
-Katie

Oh I hope I am the lucky winner!

Beautiful beach pictures, beautiful girls, beautiful post! What a happy Mother’s Day, indeed. You deserve it!
I’ve been lurking for quite awhile here but also busy with keeping up my own blog since I’m newer at it. I also have a daughter with that extra something who just turned 12 this past February. Your birth story brought back a lot of those painful but amazing emotions of when I found out (in utero) that Josi had Down syndrome. However, now 12yrs. later, we’re not only revelling in our lives with Josi, we’re going to multiply that by 2. We’re adopting a 2yr. old Ukranian Princess with Ds in just a few more weeks! We’re very excited to make Nadia a part of our family. However, if you had asked me 12,8,4, heck even 1yr. ago, if we would be doing this I would have said…ummmm. no! But here we are and I couldn’t be more at peace and excited with where God has asked us to walk in obedience to Him. What a ride!!!
Happy Mother’s Day!
Fondly, Kristin
Beautiful pictures!! What an amazing talent you have..both in photography and writing. I so wish I could do this. How special all these things will be for Lainey and Nella to look back at someday.

YOU are a rockstar! Happy Mommy’s Day.
This is my first time commenting on your blog. I am going to say what hundreds (thousands?) have said before me. Your girls are breathtaking, and your words brighten my day.
I would also like to add that I’ve just found out that I am expecting my first bundle of joy. When my mom and I were discussing genders, and she said the usual “As long as it’s healthy…” I thought of you and Nella, and I told her “We will love them no matter what”.
<3
It always makes my day when i see that you posted something new! Thank you so much for sharing! The pictures are beautiful as always…and the girls are so cute!

A perfect way to end my day:)
My hubby just recently deployed with the military-right before Mother’s Day. This is the 2nd year in a row, and the 10th that he has missed in the 19 years he has served his country. Yesterday, spending the day just us, no phone, no computer, just walking through the day, that was one of the greatest days of my life.
Thanks to all of the Military wives who’s honeys are on or in the sea, in the air, in the mountains or in the sand. Thanks to you Kelle for opening eyes and hearts…

The two side-by-side pictures of Lainey’s facial expressions in the rainbow shirt/headband combo are the best.
These were all gorgeous. You are all gorgeous and full of life. I love it.
Coming out of lurkdom for the sake of the adorable suit! 🙂
I have an 8 year old son who also has Down syndrome 🙂 Reading your blog takes me back to the years when I felt a lot of the same things you are feeling right now-and I love it!

Happy Mother’s Day, Kelle. May you feel as happy as you do on your Isle all year long! Thank you for blessing me and so many. Heather
Hey Kelle! Always a joy to read about your love of life and your family. I posted a while back about an idea for the fairy party, but it was on an old post, so I don’t know if you ever saw it. It was just an idea that I used for my son’s 5th bday. He had a Madagascar party and it was forecast to rain the entire weekend of his party so the sprinkler party that had been planned quickly had to change to something for a dozen 5 yr olds to do in my small Ocala home. My husband worked at an appliance store and we had the idea to have him bring home several stove and refrigerator boxes. I lined them all up in the living room and we painted them to look like the animal crates from the movies. We cut doors and peep holes in the boxes and attached them all together to make a huge maze. Anyway, sorry I am so long winded but the point is that I thought it would be an inexpensive, but “big hit” idea for you to do fairy houses for Lainey. You can get large bottles of tempura paint for fairly cheap and Lainey could even help you paint them. Granted, I am not sure when Lainey’s party is, so time may be a problem, but I wanted to suggest it. I know how much fun my little Jordan had…I don’t think the kids came out of the boxes the entire day!

So jealous of this beautiful day! It is cold and rainy up in Boston. You are lucky have such lovely daughters and weather!
Your blog, simply put, gives me hope, allows me to cry, and makes me see clearly after the tears! Such good stuff. I read everyday, and reread. You put such beauty in life and that is inspiration to those of us who find beauty strangely absent and then you come along in full color and show beauty. thanks….
Mary Z.

Nella is getting SO BIG!!!
And your beach posts make me miss home-San Diego- SOO much! As much as I have come to enjoy a COUPLE beaches here in Northern California, they just are not the same. But I still hope my little will have the fond memories of the beach that I do- he’s already a beach bum at 12 1/2 months 🙂
Why must you do such things to a girl in the Pacific Northwest… now I want the fabulou swim suit and the sun to go with it!
I love the suit – it looks just fabulous on you! Thanks for sharing! And your day looks like it was just perfect – Happy Mother’s Day!

I love reading your posts, always start my day with a little trip to kelle-land and it always makes me smile (sometimes through a few happy tears too!). If there’s a post that really spoke to me (which is often) I like to read the comments, and especially enjoy Poppa’s insights. But today even I had to give up before the end – HOW MANY??? Loving your work honey, you’re a star. You’re spreading the crayola colours all over the world xxx
Love reading your blog, inspires me daily.
A New Zealand reader.

Reading your posts about the Isles of Capri always make me want to find such a place for myself. I think that it is the one thing I am missing right now – finding that place that just brings life to square2. But while I keep looking, I’ll sip in the happiness you share in your posts and pretend that I can hear the windcharms too 🙂
Hugs.

I connected to your blog after a link to Nella’s birth story from Jessica’s blog at 503 Photography. Your writing, photography, your girls, and of course, your swimsuit, are just stunningly beautiful, and I’ve enjoyed stopping by your blog since then. Have a lovely Mother’s Day week! 🙂

I love the smell of the beach on the back of the neck, almost as precious as discovering a forgotten pocket of sand between your toes.
I love her swimsuits!
I just started a blog and yours is one of the reasons why. I love the fact that you are embracing life – being a part of it not a bystander.
I’d love a swimsuit though – my hols just five weeks away . . .
My blog is Mrs Mason Recommends – just hoping it would bring some smiles and happiness to others sometime.
Please keep blogging and taking those great photos of those awesome littles

I need my own Isle of Capri here in Michigan so I can escape this RAIN!!!!! And, if I was to win that bathing suit, I would wear it proudly in my bathtub, since there will be no swimming around here if this weather doesn’t change soon!!
As always, I loved your post today. Thanks for sharing your Mother’s Day with us.
your words, your perspective, your photos, your determination to not let the little things slip by…that’s why i keep coming back again and again. THANK YOU!

Loved your post and the pictures! Looks like a fabulous Mother’s Day!
I absolutely LOVE the swimsuit! I have been looking for a swimsuit that is figure flattering for a mom, but still sexy and that one hits the nail on the head.

Simply amazing. The photos, the feel, the words…the day. I believe I’d want to live that day over and over again.
Happened on your blog just last week and am loving it. I raised two girls and enjoyed all the moments you describe here. A glimpse into the future; these feelings and the happiness & love only grows while we continue to have time of our lives.
Glad your Mother’s Day was beautiful. Love the first painted piggys 🙂
Every morning when I read your blog is a day when I find my tired face smiling BIG. My smile cracks my face awake. 🙂 Thank you for that and for all of your wonderful stories and pictures.
My sweet baby Mollie was born January 26, just a few days after your beautiful Nella. You have taught me so many things since the first time I tearfully read your blog. I’ve learned to see beauty in simplicity, patience amongst chaos, and to love, with every depth of my soul, my own two sweet girls and their amazing daddy. I’ve started my own little photography business, and I do mean little, but I credit you with opening a new eye of creativity in my life, and giving me an outlet I haven’t had since I had to write short stories in college. All that I can say is Thank you. You are a blessed, and in your own discovery of beauty in a messy living room, I have found beauty in my own. You are truly an awesome person. Best of luck and love, from your neighbor a few states to the west, Louisiana.

I love this blog in general, this post in particular, AND the swimsuit in all its polka dotted bright red glory! Mothers are just so darn beautiful, aren’t we? Kudos to you for rockin’ the Mom glow so well!
This blog is amazing. Kelle your outlook on life give me strentgh. Makes my little pregnancy hiccups look likes ants from the 92nd floor of the John Hancock. Even on what is considered a mother’s day you spent it doing what you love most… time with your littles. I love it!
Wow, your blog make me smile!
What a beautiful Mother’s Day spent with the ones you love. As always, thank you for sharing your life with all of us, you are inspiring and we could all take a little lesson from you on finding happiness in each and every situation.

Amazing photos as always! I can totally see how you can spend an entire day there. Hope your mothers day was great.
Wow, what a beautiful sunset.. I love how your photos make me feel as if I am right there with you, enjoying the sun and dipping my feet into the water! Theres not much chance of that here in wet & grey London 🙂
It looks like you had a wonderful Mothers Day and if anyone deserves that then you do!
Lovely pictures – love the suit!
My daughters feet are pattering down the hall right now- I love that sound and the life it brings and just being a mom- I’m glad your mother’s day was wonderful- and I love that suit ! : )
At the beginning of a very hard day ahead of me, these photos just reminded me how easy it is to remember all the blessings I do have! 🙂 Thanks for that little reminder… and I love the quote at the end… parachutes of color could change the world! 🙂
Pick me, pick me!!
Kelle, you. rock.
I was so excited to see my husband and kids picked out three leather bound journals (from Italy!!) so I can start journaling our small things. One for each kiddo. What a great Mother’s Day gift. You’ve inspired me more than you could ever imagine. I am forever grateful. I so want to hang out with you and Heidi at IOC someday…I will be practicing my cartwheels and Irish jigs until then 🙂
Thank you for showing us how you love. You really have changed my life. Thanks for making me better.
I want to go there!
Happy belated Mother’s Day to you, Kelle, and all the mommy’s who live vicariously through you. 🙂 You continue to inspire me with your words and pictures. And you just happen to look fantastic in that swimsuit.

Sweet little piggie toes!!!

Your Mother’s Day looked perfect! Your blog has inspired me in SO MANY ways but your pictures have really spoke to me. My mothers day present was a Nikon D5000 and I can’t wait to start capturing life and all the beauty of it! Thank you Kelle and Happy Mothers Day.
Looks like a fun filled day with family and friends. No better way to celebrate Mother’s Day!
I’ve got to tell you… you have definitely inspired me. I’m a 31- year old working mom with two daughters (almost 3 and almost 2) and can relate so much to what you write. I really cherish my time with my daughters at night and on the weekends. About a year ago, we bought a nice Canon camera and I’ve been taking pictures of them obsessively, trying to capture their personalities. My husband often jokes that I need to put the camera down and enjoy the moment. Anyway, I started a photo book called Sisterhood – The Year of Pigtails and Fake Frowns, and I just wanted to thank you for sharing your talents and ideas with us. ~ Christina
I stumbled upon your blog after clicking through other blogs and I must say that it was the best “spill” I have taken in the blogosphere! I am a working mom and so the first hour or so in the office can be tough – decompressing from the morning crunch, missing my beautiful little girl and gearing up for the work day ahead. Without fail I check in to see your latest post – your photos and your words inspire me to remember that today is a gift no matter what the day brings. So I just want to thank you for that! P.S. Your family is precious too! 🙂
I love your blog. And I love your swim suit. But the main thing I love you for, is the pictures. My poor fiance already has an expensive hobby with his photography, and now he has to share it with me! Thank you so much for loving life the way you do, and showing us thru your pictures!
I always get a smile on my face when I see your blog on my Reader list…I cannot wait to see what your newest post has in store! What a wonderful day to embrace Mamahood and soak up the day!
After reading your posts I always feel like a better person if I just take one ounce of your life loving away!
Thank you for the wonderful post…yet again!

Thank you for the wonderful post…yet again!
Kelle, your Mother’s Day looked perfect and fun!
Your suit is fabulous. Your solid red one inspired me to order one…more specifically, plan on ordering one. For those beach-moments following my first baby’s arrival this November!
Then, last Wednesday, we received the heartbreaking news at our three month sono that our baby’s heart had stopped beating. Our precious one is with Jesus. Our hearts are broken.
Perhaps I’ll still order one, because in these moments it feels that nothing could bring the peace that a trip to the beach could. Because there, with the sand and the waves and the smell of salt, He speaks to me and I know my sweet Kiplyn will be in His arms, waiting to celebrate Mother’s Day with me in heaven.
So, on Sunday, my first Mother’s Day was not as I had pictured it would be. It was filled with family and friends soothing my soul. As I dread the surgery that must take place tomorrow, it was healing to read your happy post of how Mother’s Day should be.

“If you could vacation anywhere in the world for seven days with your family right now, where would it be?”
I would think that your answer to this question, was.. right where you were.. the Isle of Capri 🙂

Kelle,
Your words are magic. They always make me happy. No matter what I’m feeling or thinking, you have an ability to always make me happy or take my current state of happiness and kick it up a notch.
You have so many blessings and I thank your pictures and words for helping me to look a little more closely at all my wonderful blessings.
Thank you and happy mama’s day
You seem like just a wonderful being 🙂 I love reading your blogs, and words of inspiration! I’m a mother or a little girl with another one on the way. And your soul inspires me. Keep being beautiful inside and out!
Love this post, love the suit, and LOVE the remake of JUST LIKE HEAVEN that was playing when I got on your page today. I must know who it is by… it is only my favorite CURE song of all time.
Super Cute!
I would love to go to the Isle of Capri someday. It looks absolutely gorgeous!! Great pictures!
Your pictures absolutely amaze me. I always look forward to reading your posts and seeing you and your beautiful girls.
That swimsuit is hot. 🙂
It’s cold here in Canada today. My favorite posts are of you and your littles at the beach. Reminds me that sometime sooooon ( I hope ) I will be beaching it too! Thank you for sharing your beautiful life! Also, I just got engaged! I can’t tell my family yet, so I enjoy telling people I don’t know! Hahaha
Hmmmmm, any chance winning the suit would also come with an all-expense paid trip to the Isle??? Expecting snow here in CO tonight, and that little spot looks like heaven right about now!
Your pics are fabulous! and your family is beautiful. The suit—I’d love to have one just like it!
Gorgeous! All of you! And a Happy Mother’s Day to you!
You have a beautiful family and I am lovin’ that bathing suit!

Love all of the fun and the sillies! I think those are the moments our children will treasure. Happy Mother’s Day to you. As always, beautiful pictures of you and your beautiful life! (There is nothing wrong with the word beautiful!!!)
Love love love reading your blog miss Kelle. Don’t know how I initially found it, but I have been faithfully following since little Nella’s birth. I am so jealous of your Isle of Capri…what wonderful times and memories you will always have from there. Also have to say all of the wonderful pictures you take is inspiring me to dust off my camera and take pictures of my Violet (6 months) with wild abandon. Also, like everyone else, I am wildly in love with your bathing suit too!
Cheers,
Meghan

my first baby is due at the end of june…but that won’t keep me away from the pool (no ocean near here…) so i really need a suit to cover my tum-tum 🙂
the Isle of Capri is certainly a magic place…you make me want to go there!
i also love that sunscreen-and-salt smell that comes after a day at the beach, i was constantly huffing my daughter’s hair the last time we were in Florida. 🙂

Such a beautiful family!!!! The Isle seems absolutely fabulous – must put that on our list of places to visit!
I read your mothers day post twice already and was so happy this morning to read another one today. I wake in the morning and drink up my coffee to see if there is a new story to read. And if there isn’t, I read back to what I have missed. What beauty is in your words, and what beauty do you bring to life’s struggles!
I would LOVE one of those suits to get me ready for summer!
The colors are beautiful. What a splendid place to spend Mother’s Day!
Thank you for sharing your ‘beautiful’ life!

Your website always makes my day! You inspire me to appreciate LIFE more and take more time for cuddles and dancing. I’m so thankful to have discovered YOU! 🙂 Oh – and should I admit I keep your site open for a good chunk of the day just so I can listen to your playlist (which rocks). Happy Mother’s Day!

It’s freezing here in Colorado today, and the forecast is calling for 6-10 inches of snow. When I got done reading your post and looked out my office window I got depressed…..so I think I will just keep your photos up on my computer all day to remind me that summer really does exist!!

I live in Naples and my parents live in Marco Island. I’ve past Isle of Capri countless times. I think long ago we stopped for dinner when Backwater Nick’s was still standing, but I haven’t been in ages. You’ve inspired me to go. I’m thrilled you got the Mother’s Day gift you had requested..a day in your favorite place. I love your suit, love Lainey’s sassy poses, love Nella’s perfectly pink toenails. Thank you for giving me something to look forward to. Your writing, your photography, and outlook on life are truly inspiring!
Happy Mother’s Day to you. What a special place your Happy Isle is!

Thank you for being so honest about your feelings and always seeing the beauty in the world! It’s what this world truly needs.
Keep up the great work!
(and yes, that suit ROCKS!)
I’ve been reading your blog for about two months, and this is my first comment. I found out about your story through my church. In one of their weekly newsletters, our pastor used your story to prepare us for a sermon about finding joy in the midst of heartache and beauty in pain. I was unprepared for what I would find here. I have a serious blog-reading problem. I love them! And now, I’m absolutely addicted to yours. Coming here is wholesome–like one of my mom’s homemade Southern casseroles. Even the posts that make me cry leave my soul all in a glow. Thank you for making the blogsphere a better place, and for sharing your love of life with all of us. You consistently inspire me.
Another beautiful post… I don’t comment often, but I’ve loved sharing your recent journey to Holland with you!
I love that quote! I am about ready to write the president and ask if we could take over all the billboards for a week and instead of ads we could put art all over them. Paintings, photos, words…and it would be awe inspiring and beautiful! And people would come out of their houses, and people would come from all over the world to see it.
Your isle is lovely and I am happy you had such an amazing mother’s day with your girls! Life is beautiful!
~Danie
I love your suit and the simplicity with which you tell your story through your photography!
What a beautiful weekend!
Amazing! And oh how I long for the beach!
The Isle of Capri sounds amazing! And I LOVE LOVE the suit! I have been looking for something just like it!

Beautiful! Happy Mother’s Day!
Yeah! Love this post! We are vacationing in Myrtle Beach right now. I am waiting in the room while my new sweet little girl is napping, and husband is at the beach with several of my other littles. Getting ready to go take the kids to the rides…lovin’ life. Loving this place! God kissed us yesterday as my newest little lady and I watched the sunrise. Beautiful! And keep saying beautiful! Love your pictures…as usual 🙂

Love your bathing suit, you are beaming with happiness I hope I radiate just half as much as you do :O)
I am hoping that your joy will rub off on me. I am in an exhausted state, where I spend a great deal of my time, and sort of feeling sorry for myself. I know I know life is good but I want to irish jig, jump in the air and wear a cute suit on the Isle of Capri…instead I am spending my days with my little one who has a terrible virus and wants me near him at all times. going as far as telling me to leave his sisters to their own devices to care for him. So what if they are only two and need me to do simple things like make their meals, help them get dressed and so on. He needs me immediately and I need an Isle and a suit:) Love your blog…
Precious! Looks like such fun times! And the suit is gorgeous!
Now, If that is’nt the most magical Mothers Day I have ever heard about…. I just don’t know what is 🙂
LLLOOOVVVEEE all the pics, and I swear, I can smell your Isle of Capri here, as I sit, watching my two love bugs carelessly frolic about on a spectacular west coast, late spring, morning !
Thank You, Kelle……for sharing your Isle of Capri!
Seriously, your swimsuit, has inspired me to lose the last of my baby weight!!
MUST GET ME ONE OF THOSE SUITS! XO
Stunning. That picture of you and Miss Lanie and her grumblecakes face made my morning. 🙂
Kelle, I find myself stalking your blog daily…the way you make me feel after I am finished reading is addictive. I could be laughing, crying, passing it on to others but always making me hug my kids a bit tighter. Thank you for sharing, I think you are fabulous!

Oh how I love your posts every day with the stunning photography and quotes that I write down to use later (love, love, love the crayola one today)….but the ones about Isle of Capri are some of my favorites, mostly because they remind me of my youth and summers spent on the Texas coast with my dad. I always say I will forever have salt water running through my veins, and someday I will live on the coast again. I relish every chance I get to take my boys down there and soak up every last grain of sand and salt. It looks like you had a most fabulous Mama’s Day and you look positively radiant in that amazing suit!
happy tuesday!
erin
What a perfectly beautiful day! I’ve been blog stalking, just waiting for your Mother’s Day post about your special isle. I knew it would bring smiles to my heart. Happy Mother’s Day!

Crossing my fingers!
I just love reading your blog. Makes me feel like all is well in the world. Have a terrific day!
,,,kelle,,,lainey cracks me up,,,the photos of her playing coy, her squinty, flirty eyes and half smile, her gooey, frosty pink lip gloss that surely must be like epoxy glue on her lips, her “jackie-o” sunglasses,,,she’s simply adorable, like mother like daughter,,,and the “little” she takes the cake! in fact,,,she is the sweetest cake i’ve ever seen,,,she’s the cake, the icing, the batter, the sprinkles, more sprinkles and the icecream all wrapped up in one!,,,yummy! (smile)
Cute girls and cute blog! I am having my first baby (any day now) and feel like I should get a one-piece suit for this summer, while my body morphs back to normalcy. . .a hot retro one like yours would be so fun!

And I love your suit…I also just had a baby but do not look anywhere as great as you do and am dreading our family vacation to the beach this year because of that. But a suit like this would make me not dread it so much 🙂 It’s gorgeous!!

Kelle,
I, too, have a member of the almond-eyed club….Brad, my fourth son of my five children. I love your optimism and attitude, all well founded, because trust me, it just gets better and better! Brad is 18 now, lovable beyond belief, and life’s best teacher. Plus, how can you not love a kid who nicknames his whole family, and bestows upon his mother the nickname “Angel”?
Enjoy the ride, it is truly something special.
Janet
Ahhhh, just from looking at those pictures I can smell the scent of the sea air along with sweaty toddler scalps and baby sunblock. Yummy, I love the scent of lazy days at the beach with the fam.
I am just a short few weeks away from welcoming my 2nd child and I vow to be in a swimsuit as fast as I can so I can feel 1950’s fabulous this summer too. That swimsuit is AMAZING and you rocked it!

beautiful as always. I’m loving the suit…last summer I was stuck without one I was comfortable in. Even though my baby turned one last week I still need to find a different kind of suit, especially because we’re still nursing.
Your post brought sunshine to this dreary, rainy MN day. Thank you.
I love your swim suit…and your retro style! Rock on!
Love the photos! I live in St. Pete and have always liked the beaches South of us. Perhaps the Isle needs a visit!
Beautiful as always. Love the photos! Love the bonnets and the way you dress your girls up. I always used to put bonnets on my little girl too when she was little. So precious! Oh, and the swimming suit is very cute!!

Just spent a sun soaked day at a Florida beach ourselves… LOVED it.
i had the chance to visit the isle this march with my parents – it IS truly magical! if i could live anywhere, i think it might be there! but sadly i don’t so i do my best to recreate its magic into my life – trying daily to hold onto the way that i felt when i breathed it in. and i have to be honest and say that i was hoping i would bump into you while i was in naples. i was always looking for your flower-behind-the-ear-with-a-smile face, but never happened upon it. i was sad, but it was fun to feel a bit of what it must be like to live in such an awesome place – where it makes all the difference in the world to be able to be outside with your littles and play in the water every day. here – i have a sandbox, a plastic kiddie pool and a deck – we do our best! 🙂 you’re awesome and we are all blessed to have a glimpse into your world. it makes ours that much sweeter! thank you!

i looooove the bathing suit, but not as much as your blog! i’ve told so many people about it – i think this should be required reading. <3
Kelle,
You write with such unbridled joy. And your photographs put the exclamation point on your words.
Blessings to you and your sweet family.
=)
I cannot wait to bring my little one to the beach…I was thinking he might be too young, but if Nella can rock it out, then so can my little man!
Once again a wonderful post on all of the simple things in life that make it so special.
I love how much you embrace and love life. It’s inspiring. And thanks for sharing your family and happy thoughts.

I’m in desperate need of a new bathing suit, and yours is awesome!!
Oh PLEASE pick me! I am in such need of a bathingsuit—retro is soooo me! I live in a retro house, ride a retro bike, and NEED this retro swimsuit 🙂
I look forward to reading your blog each morning—it always brings a smile to my face 🙂
I love reading your blog because I always do so with a smile on my face and sometimes tears as well. The pictures are, as always, gorgeous. I love reading about Isle of Capri. I am admittedly not a beach person (shame since I live in Florida), but listening you talk about this magical place makes me rethink my position. Happy Mother’s Day!
Thank you for sharing your Mommy’s Day pictures! You look so happy spending the day with your littles. I love Laney’s matching swimsuit! Too cute. I have my own little Laney so I think of her often when I read your posts. She seems to have the same free spirit as your Laney. Anyways, thanks again for sharing your life, it really is so beautiful! By the way I would love to have the swimsuit but could I have your legs too??? HAHA!
Kelle, thank you for sharing your fabulous Mother’s Day. Thank you for letting us share in your fun filled life. Can’t wait for the fairy party.

I would love to see crayolas floating down from the sky.
Kelle,
Does my heart good to see you so happy….friends do that! Lainey looks to be growing into quite the little pixey and Nella is growing so fast. If time stood still for a moment would anyone notice…
Best wishes,
Gwen
Kelle, I have been following your blog since Nella’s birth story and I’m absolutely in love with it! You truly are an amazing woman with a beautiful soul. I can’t get enough of your stunning photography and writings. I too have two little girls (2 years old and 2 months old) and can relate to so much of what you write about. My friend and I are convinced that you’d be on of our friends if you lived near us, but wonder if you drink wine … oh how we love our wine 🙂 Keep doing what you’re doing because you are an inspiration to so many momma’s around the world.
I love those pictures of Lainey in her rainbow shirt. Her expressions are always so sweet.
And I LOVE that swimsuit – would love to win it!
Awe, what a perfect mamma’s day. Isle of Capri has now been added to my official bucket list. And love that suit might just have to order it if I don’t win it, lol!

I simply cannot believe how great you look in that bathing suit after having two children. I have had one and I’m hoping and praying that I look as good 🙂 Your blog is inspirational, Kelle. I think you would love my go-to song, “Capri” by Colbie Caillat!!!

i love your blog, and your girls are beautiful! looks like a great weekend.
Love the swimsuit, but I could never look that good just a few months after having a baby!
Nags Head NC was always our version of your Isle of Capri. Sand everywhere…24 men, women and children jammed into a 3 bedroom 1 (yep 1) bathroom cottage. We used to sleep on our rafts in the main living space. The memories that I recall so fondly as a 37 year old are ones that your darling babies will think about as well.
Cute suit. Love it!
Leslie from Missouri
am i too late? i want a suit too!
and that place?
looks sort of like i imagine what heaven might be like…
I seriously love the look Laniey is giving in the photo with you – that little glare LOL!! My 2 year old boy was just taught that “look” by his Daddy, cracks me up every time!
I am in love with your blog. I have been so depressed with life and you make it all go away. I am incredibly inspired with what you have to say. You are a wonderful mother with an incredible passion!
Your family and all those smiles are beautiful. Never stop!
Loving that suit….loving your beautiful family…..loving the Isle of Capri……loving your story telling!! Loving, loving, loving!!!
Yes, pleeze.
Kelle you are an amazing writer, photographer, but most of all MOTHER!! Your sweet littles are so lucky to have you 🙂 And you look absolutely gorgeous in the picture of you and Nella where your hair is down and all wavy from being in braids. Love it!!
Love your suit – it is fabulous. And I LOVE feet pictures – my favorite! 🙂
I started reading your blog a few months ago, and I have to tell you I find you and your family incredibly inspiring. I’m hooked!
Oh sigh…the colors and warmth resonate through your photos. Awesome. And much, much better than the drab gray and blue of the Ice up here above the Arctic Circle.
Awesome pictures as always! I think I’m going to have to check out this Isle of Capri… apparently I live only a couple of hours away!
such a nice mother’s day you had. and the pictures are just awesome. i will have to take my little family to the isle of capri one day soon. and maybe i’ll be wearing the same suit as you!

I am so thankful for this blog because you are absolutely the type of person I’d love to count as a friend. You’re the person I want to turn to for advice when life gives me lemons. You’re the one who has some of the deepest insights into what it takes to be happy. You’re the Mother that inspires me to be better for my own children. Thank you so much for sharing things so openly and honestly that they can affect someone so far away and so in need of it.
Ok, I admit it, I’m obsessed with your blog!
Thank you, Nella-bean, for bringing so much joy to all of the Mommies of the world!!!

What a beautiful day! Thank you for sharing it.
Always enjoy reading your “life stories”. This was my first Mother’s day and I so appreciate your perspective on motherhood.
–and i shamelessly admire the suit as well : )
you just gave me permission to paint the piggy toes of my 5 month old baby girl!
I’m glad your mother’s day was amazing! I love the pictures of Lainey with the sunset behind her where all you can see is her tiny silhouette. So cute. And yes, WE ALL love your swimsuit. I need one! Haha
Best wishes!
I LOVE your blog. I only recently started reading, but I’m in love with Nella. I just want to touch her sweet little cheeks. She is SO beautiful. Lainey too. (: Thanks for being such a fun mom…you inspire me.
I truly wish I had your ability to weave words in such a way that, even without your gorgeous photos, I’d still be able to see the beauty of your experiences. Nella and Lainey are truly blessed to have such a wonderful, amazing, gifted mother. I’m so glad your mother’s day was everything you wanted it to be. Blessings, Kelle.
Your face radiates happiness and I can tell your Mother’s Day was a great one. I wish we had warm weather like you do. Here in KY we had a breezy 60 degree Mother’s Day, but it was still a good one.
nancymomof4@gmail.com
awesome pictures…love the one of you and Nella towards the end. I wish I could get shots like that of me and my kids.
I think I’m going to copy your idea of the pictures on the wall with the floating frames…can’t wait. You definitely have great ideas.

Kelle, at the end of my day, I always close it with your blog. And if it’s not a new blog, I just turn your music player on while I surf the net. So thanks for your blog AND your nifty music box.
Your pictures are gorgeous as always. Makes me long for our own isle of capri (Rocky Point, Mexico). Be there next week! Ahhh, I smell the salt and sunscreaned babes right now.
Adios!
I look forward to reading your posts. You are an encouragement to those who wish to enjoy the small things, the things that matter most. Which truly aren’t things at all, but those we love & love us right back.

My husband accused me of being a stalker the other day, because every day when I come home, before I start dinner or put start my housewifely duties or ANYTHING, I have to check and see what Lainey and Nella have been up to 🙂
A friend of mine posted a link to Nella’s Birth Story on the forum that I belong to, and judging by the comments that followed, I think you gained several dozen followers! So on behalf of everyone, thank you for sharing your journey, and showing us how we can cope with anything – the magic is inside us all.
You are beautiful and amazing. Your girls are adorable. Thanks for sharing your story.

Your pictures are beautiful, and your words make that beauty even more magical. Thank you for letting us experience your beloved Isles of Capri. I hope to return soon.
Every time I come here, the photos just leave me breathless. Honestly they just capture something more than photos usually do. They tell a story and it is inspiring!
I love, love, love your beach pictures. I’m a Florida girl myself, and the beach is my favorite place to be.
I have to say although I love days at the beach, its when the late afternoon creeps up and turns into early evening that the true beauty really comes through – not sure if its become the crazed beach momentum is gone, but I absolutely love that time of the day.
My name is Capri, and I can’t help but get tickled every time you mention it. We’re sister soulmates for sure 🙂 Happy Mother’s Day!
I’m a Sanibel girl myself but I’ll have to head down your way…the pictures are bee-yew-tiful!

i have my own isle of capri….Okoboji, Iowa. and every time you write about the isle, i escape and feel i’m there with you, or on a pontoon on a hot summer day with my family. i would die for your suit! it would oh, so stylish, while covering up my (well-deserved!) stretch marks from being pregnant with my twin daughters! here’s to having that “place!” your isle, my ‘boji!

Love your blog so much – the photos, your words, sharing your life, I enjoy it so. You make me strive to be more present in the everyday moments of my life, and I thank you for that.
Reading your House of Motherhood post was the perfect way to start mother’s day…and Happy Isle has inspired (hopefully)my next family vacation. I would love to see my girls sun kissed and covered in sand in such a beautiful place. Thank you.
Got to say that post made me a little jealous, Cincinnati is just too far away from a beach. Going to Panama City Beach next week, but oh, what I wouldn’t give to live close to one.
Love your beach babies…Nella gets more delicious everyday!
Beautiful, as it always is! I love reading your blog.
Reading this post made me feel like I was on vacation. It was a great escape from my cubical on a rainy day 🙂

You are a beautiful mama! I want to visit the Isle of Capri now 🙂
When I read this Monday I was having the worst day. I was just angry and frustrated and hating life in general, and unfairly taking it out on my little girl (even though she was being a little weiner). So I just sent her to bed and continued to seethe.
Then I read this post and it totally calmed me down. And then I cried of course because I felt bad about yelling at my daughter for doing things little girls do. Your writing always reminds me to do what I really should do all the time; focus on the good and the sweet in the midst of all the awful things that life throws at us, so I went and snuggled my girl and kissed her and told her I love her.
I just wanted to thank you for that and to tell you to keep blogging because even if you don’t know it, you are reminding people to just focus on the good and the sweet life has to offer, and that meant everything to me the other day.
I would LOVE one of those amazing retro bathing suits! And may I add, you look absolutely stunning in yours. I hope I will look that great after giving birth to the little one in my tummy! 🙂
Beautiful!!! Love, love, love the suit too, I would love to have one like that! Your girls are scrumptious. Makes me want another one RIGHT NOW. So bad!
that swimsuit rocks! your photos are fabulous, of course! and your family is beautiful!
What a beautiful Mother’s Day! Just perfect.
What a dreamy Mothers Day! Your family is beautiful. The beach scenes and blue skies make me jealous from here in gloomy, rainy Ohio! Love your bathing suit…

Wonderful and lovely….all of you!
Just writing to say that I have been addicted to your blog and beautiful photography for almost a month now! Keep posting pics of those precious little loves! We have a little girl Lainey’s age who had a cleft lip and palate that went undiagnosed before she was delivered. A number of the things you have written echo some of the feelings and emotions we were going through 2 and 1/2 years ago.
Thanks for writing!
OOOOOOOOOh!
I need one!
Love it!!!!
Love the photos — looks much warmer where you are!
Your blog makes me want to be a better woman! Thank you…

Your blog is an inspiration. You are a wonderful writer too. Along with the pictures I feel like I was there and don’t want to leave either.

polka dots and retro? What gets better than that? You look wickedly awesome in it too and have the best hair…..ever.
*sigh* I love all the yummy light that you get to play with. And the suit? is so cute in all its retro fabness. Perfect for a new baby body that doesn’t get to see a whole lot of sun up here in the pacific northwest until summer is in full swing.
Are you sure you just had a baby? Because you don’t look like you just had a baby.
I love that beach smell, we’re here in Southern CA and I’m pregnant with my first and I dream of the day I can watch my little play in the sand and watch the water recede around his feet.
oh i would LOVE this swimsuit!!!!!!!!!

You’re family is absolutely gorgeous and I love looking at all the beautiful pictures that you post. They are always breathtaking
Is it too late to comment? Generally I just read silently. Lovely pictures. Beautiful family. I love your beach beam dollars.
Sorry if this gets posted twice but it didn’t seem to show up the first time. This comment really has nothing to do with this post but I have read your entire blog from the beginning over the past few months and I noticed you had this GREAT idea where you were going to take Pictures of Lainey in your wedding dress every year and I only saw one set of those pictures. I’m wondering if you just forgot about it or decided to skip it for some reason, or just never posted the photos again? I just thought it was such a cute idea.
Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. Your days are filled with happiness and love, and I so admire your talent for describing and photographic the beauty in your life. It inspires me to find more beauty in mine. Thank you!

I just came across your blog for the first time today. I’m not sure you get to read all these comments, but your words and your birth story brought me to tears. It was as if someone had put my own experience into words finally, when I could not. Visit my blog if you like I have a 5.5 year old little girl with Down syndrome. Some days are hard, but I try to focus on the joy.

As always, you have made my day. I want to go to the Isle of Capri for our next vacation. I had to go look it up on Google Maps! You have a beautiful family, and you inspire me in many ways.
I love your blog. I always set aside some alone time to read it. And of course I love the suit!
Poppa, how is the mending on your leotards? LOL Thanks for making me laugh! So cute! And if you win the swimsuit you have to model it! :o)
Oh such a wonderful post! Happy belated Mothers Day!
Your apron belonged to my Aunt Glady!! Uncle Jim is my grandfather’s brother! I was young when I last visited them before she passed away but I remember her cakes vividly. Works of art! As is your blog site! I keep up with it several times a week and love the window it provides into your sweet family and your soul!
…and I meant to post that under your “Celebrate Life” post 🙂
1488: I just smile, and smile and smile. Thank you for making me feel. Young. Blessed. Connected.
Beautiful day and beautiful family! And I want that beautiful suit!
Your words are heavenly and inspire!

Reading your blog is like a cool drink for the soul. . . and its waaaay cheaper than therapy. 🙂 Sometimes I wait a week so I get to enjoy more than one post! What a gift you are! (even to strangers who live in TN)
Your life in pictures is amazing. Like a dream, complex and beautiful.
So I was going to comment to ask where Lainey’s pretty plaid dress is, but I’m not sure you’ll find my question to answer it…
I do love that suit and would LOVE to own one. I was looking at very cheap (no women’s curves included) version at Target, but it just didn’t seem good enough.
Anyway – if you see this…Where is that adorable plaid dress from? I want one for Ella!
Thanks, Ev
Such serenity!! I so wish that I lived closer to the ocean. (sigh) I am in a land locked area and it is a many hours drive to a beach in any direction. Your pictures are so stunning and so full of life. Always a joy to be there thru you.
I’m glad you shared a great Mother’s Day with wonderful family and friends!
Our little girls have so many of the same clothes. Love the big framed glasses on her cute little face and Nella’s first toenail painting made my heart smile. Love visiting your place – always brings happiness!
